DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Classic_Spaceman replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I wonder if the third Minifig in the Flash Batmobile (that is, if we even get a third Minifig) will be Dark Flash; while Supergirl is the third main hero (not counting past Barry) and Zod is the main villain, the "Flash Chase" translation seems to suggest that Dark Flash will be included. First, most Superheroes sets have antagonists (the new GotG3 sets notwithstanding), so a villain is a reasonable inclusion; second, while Zod would have been referenced in the set's name (e.g. "Batmobile: General Zod Showdown"), Dark Flash would likely not have, as it would make the name somewhat confusingly-worded; and third, Dark Flash is the only character that makes the "Chase" part of the name make sense (Zod is being fought, not chased, and Batman and the Barrys are obviously teaming up based on the trailer, so it does not seem that Batman is hunting down a rogue time-travelling Flash). BTW, the last set to include a villainous speedster was called "Speed Force Freeze Pursuit", so there is precedent for Flash-vs-evil-speedster set names that match this one. 🤔 -

The GotG3 sets look decent, but the omissions of Gamora, Cosmo, and the High Evolutionary (and Kraglin, though to a lesser extent) are glaring. As others have mentioned, the Bowie is misshapen, but it is still a nice-looking ship (and modding it should not be too difficult, hopefully). I am not really sure why 76253 even exists, considering that it is not 4+; it could easily have been a side-build for Rocket's ship. Speaking of, despite looking good, I am not sure why LEGO devoted a set to what will almost certainly be featured in a brief flashback (instead of something for the main narrative of the movie), and the set absolutely needs another Minifig. Also, I never thought that I would say this, but the ship really needs stickers (sorry, @danth!). There are a number of places where they could be applied easily, and I find it difficult to believe that the real ship has no vents/hatches/panels/etc that could be used to add detail; as it is, the set looks rather unfinished. As for the Ant-Man set, I have nothing to say that has not already been said; the set looks good for what it is (and I will probably get it), but we need a set for Quantumania with actual Minifigures! -

1. No Gunship, then. Ugh. That is unfortunate, but I hope that the rehashes are of things that really could use remakes (the V-wing, for example, would count as a "rehash", but it is due for an update and it features quite prominently in TBB). 2. Most likely mechs (though @Lego_Minecraft_Goat said that there would not be any mechs 🤔). I am actually cautiously optimistic about these; this may be an unpopular opinion, but I am not really a fan of Microfighters. There was a time when they served as a decent supplemental army-builder (2016-2017 were probably the strongest years), but the most recent entries have just been reuses of Minifigs that are available in other, better, sets. Despite being solidly non-Canon, mechs would actually provide usable builds along with their Minifigs (instead of weird blocky, chibi, renditions of ships that really only serve as parts-packs), and can be converted into other themes with a few minor changes (a Vader mech could be modded into a mech for Batman, Catwoman, Blue Beetle, War Machine, Punisher, Black Cat, Cole, Garmadon, etc, with only a handful of common pieces). 3. Prices and part-counts have already leaked, and the PPPs are not that bad - Do you mean that there will be an increase from what we have seen thus far? 4. This could either be very good, or very bad. . . -
DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

The projects that Gunn announced today were explicitly stated not to be the entirety of the first chapter of the DCU, so I expect that the other JL members will appear. Also, there are movies for the Flash and Aquaman, along with a movie (Shazam 2) that is rumoured to have a Wonder Woman cameo, releasing soon, so I doubt that there will be any official announcements of those characters being recast or appearing in the DCU proper until sometime after their respective films have come out. -

Full list: I wonder if the new characters will end up getting the Elemental Powers, allowing the theme to continue with the colour-coded/element-based designs while also passing the torch to a new generation of Ninja. Those look fake to me. -
DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Classic_Spaceman replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
James Gunn has just announced some of the main projects in the first chapter (as he put it) of the DCU, called "Gods and Monsters": Creature Commandos (TV, Animated). Waller (TV, Live-Action) / Viola Davis returns as Waller, and will feature alongside "team Peacemaker". Superman: Legacy (Film) / Written by Gunn, and slated for release July 11, 2025. Lanterns (TV, Live-Action) / Stars Hal and John, and is described as a "terrestrial-based" story about a pair of detectives/"space-cops". The Authority (Film) / Gunn describes this as a passion project (so he may be writing/directing, though he has not said if this is the case), and will feature the WildStorm team of the same name. Paradise Lost (TV, Live-Action) / Described as Game of Thrones but set on Themyscira (it will also likely serve as a Wonder Woman prequel/introduction, though that was not stated). The Brave and The Bold (Film) / Stars Batman and Damien Wayne Robin (described as a "little assassin" who Batman tries to get in-line), and is based on Grant Morrison's run; Gunn also stated that this is "the beginning of the Bat-Family" in the DCU. Booster Gold (TV, Live-Action). Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (Film) / Based on Tom King's run on the comic of the same name, and described as a "big science-fiction epic film". Supergirl is stated to have been "raised on a chunk of Krypton, [having] watched everybody around her perish in some terrible way", and is far more jaded than Superman as a result. Swamp Thing (Film) / Described as "a very dark horror story" and an origin for the character. -

The picture that I saw is blurry and obscured, so we cannot be sure that the original Ninja are not getting a redesign (unless there is another, clearer, picture). Interestingly, though, Lloyd appears to have black eyes in that shot, rather than green. 🤔 -

Only another addition to the Ninjago City series has been confirmed; it being a straight section is just my speculation. That is one possibility, though they could also be completely new characters; maybe the series has a time-jump, and these are now-teens who grew up seeing the original Ninja protecting Ninjago (essentially a heroic version of Harumi's backstory). -

The one thing that gives me pause is that Arin is most likely a female character, and LEGO generally does not release sets with all/mostly female Minifigs in "boy's" themes (though they have been getting better in this respect). The notable exception that I can think of is 70651, which had Nya, Skylor, P.I.X.A.L., Harumi, and Lloyd. -

Considering that the regular Modulars follow a pattern of corner-straight-straight (setting a precedent for patterns in these kinds of sets), and since the Ninjago City modulars have alternated between corner (NC, NCG) and straight (NCD), I think that the Markets will be another straight segment. -

Ah. 👍 We should be getting the names either today or tomorrow, then (given how they usually reveal things). -

Direct link to the Tweet. "LEGO x Fortnite, as an actual collab. Epic is working on something in UEFN that has to do with LEGO bricks, including having a full Brick Database for Unreal Engine. This work is being done on the Juno test servers. My *personal* theory is that this will be a LEGO island." -

The person who leaked information from focus-testing did not mention anything about an app (though they did say that there is a show for the theme, and that they saw an episode), however I would not be surprised if LEGO uses an app to tie the theme together (I.E. the app allows children to 'travel' between the different dream worlds depicted by the sets). I am fine with apps and app-integration, as long as it does not take the focus (as it did with VIDIYO) or constrain the designs/builds of the theme's sets. -

I am fine with this, since it gives TLG more time to sort out the issues with Trans-Neon Orange (which was conspicuously absent from the Gardens). -

75360 ($35, 253 pieces) could easily be a V-wing, which would almost certainly include a TK Trooper (or a P2 Shiny). Do you know something, or are you just speculating? -

I wonder if the CMF series will include Kang. The statue that appeared at the end of Loki Season 1 has roughly the same design as Kang's Quantumania suit, so I could see us getting Scott, Hope, Cassie, and MODOK in 76256, then Kang in the CMF as a Loki Season 2 figure. -

Theme codenames have nothing to do with the actual content of said themes; for instance, Mario was "Leaf" (IIRC) and Sonic was "Lemon". Also, it is not yet clear whether "TITAN" and Dreamzzz are the same theme or not. -
