LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Classic_Spaceman replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Full list: August 1 75358 - $40 75360 - $35, 253 Pieces, 8+ 75363 - $15, 88 Pieces, 6+ 75365 - $160, 1067 Pieces, 8+ 75366 - $45 75368 - $15, 139 Pieces, 6+ (What??) 75370 - 138 Pieces, 6+ September 1 75371 - $200 75364 - 9+ My guess is that either 75365 ($160) or 75371 ($200) will be a Republic Gunship (more likely the former), and that 75358 ($40) is an army-builder vehicle like the Imperial Armored Marauder or the Republic Fighter Tank (maybe a Republic Swamp speeder or the Imperial Army speeder seen on Ferrix?). The $35 and $45 sets are probably starfighters (maybe a V-19 Torrent at $45?), and the $15 sets are either accessory/battle packs or 4+ sets. -

40580 Buildable Tahu: Bionicle returns in 2023!
Classic_Spaceman replied to Mandalorianknight's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I have never been a Bionicle fan, but this just looks bad. The proportions are wrong, there is no ankle articulation (making Tahu look like he is wearing massive boots), the hinge elbows are going to be floppy (especially over time), the torso has what appears to be a ball joint in the middle (presumably to allow for a bit more posability than the original, but it really just adds an ugly gap), and Tahu's mask looks like shocked Pikachu! The Ninjago Core limbs are right there, and available in the right colour, so I have no idea why they were not used. This legitimately looks like a child's Sharpied MOC, and I am very surprised that LEGO is releasing it. -
Latest CMF series impact on Historic themes
Classic_Spaceman replied to SirBlake's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Nice! ๐ Could you post some comparisons of the two new Black Falcon designs (CMF vs. Blacksmith shop), as well as of the new CMF with various helmets, armour, quivers, etc? I am curious to see how well they integrate into the existing BF ranks. -
LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Classic_Spaceman replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Just a new slope for the nose/tail and a tile or panel for the fuselage (in addition to updated Minifig parts) would have been enough for this set, and they could easily be reused in a small Creator 3-in-1. I agree with this completely - the simplistic design of the Classic Space Minifigs is part of their charm, but the other Space subthemes absolutely need redesigns to work in modern sets. -
Useful Pirate Pieces from other Themes?

The Dried Flower Centrepiece that just leaked includes epaulettes in orange, which may have some use in Pirates MOCs. -
LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Classic_Spaceman replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
This looks good, but it is just a little underwhelming for me. The canopy is tapered while the body is not (and the cockpit is too large when compared to the original set - this part would have been better), the rear wings are the same size as those on the original, despite the ship being scaled-up, and are just translucent tiles over a solid plate (instead of being fully translucent). Additionally, the stickers (rather than prints) and unaltered Minifig are similarly not up to my (admittedly very high) expectations; I was hoping for a 'Blacktron I 2.0' Minifig, like the Space Police I CMF. ๐ Also, does anyone else think that the stickers look suspiciously like customs? LEGO usually renders stickers as the same colour as the part that they are on, while these are obviously a different colour. -

The female Doc Ock in Spidey and His Amazing Friends is Carolyn Trainer (aka Lady Octopus), who first appeared in the main 616 comic universe. Her design in the show seems to be inspired by her original comic design: -

Jedi: Survivor trailer dropped! In addition to redesigns of Cal and Cere, a new ally for Cal (not sure of his name), a MagnaGuard, a couple of people who seem to be bounty hunters or warlords (one of whom is wielding the other half of Cal's lightsaber!), some B1s, a brown Wampa, DT-series Sentry Droids, and a blue crossguard lightsaber also appear. Stormtroopers, stun baton Scout Troopers, KX-series Security Droids, a Police Gunship, and the Stinger Mantis all return from the first game; no Inquisitors or Purge Troopers, though (oddly, since this is supposed to take place in the same year as the Kenobi series). ๐ค -

While there is more in the trailer that I would like to see made, I just listed the most likely candidates for actual sets. Those are droids (they look similar to L3-37, but bulkier). The Bomber really looks good! Rae Sloane is credited as a Vice Admiral, so I wonder if she has a five-over-five rank plaque (I cannot tell from the current blurry pictures), and the TIE Pilot has a new helmet print (though it does not appear to be a new mould) and new leg printing. My only qualms with this set are Rae Sloane's hair (which should have been a new, curlier, piece) and Vader's lack of arm printing (at least, it does not look like he has any). LifeBricks (reviewer of the 501st Battle Pack and Slave I Microfighter) will have the TIE Bomber in-hand by Saturday, and he will be posting a live build and a review of the set (also on Saturday). The new trailer for TBB is out! Possible set material includes redesigns for all members of the Batch (including Omega), scarred Crosshair with rangefinder, Imperial Cody, P2 Shinies, TK Troopers, Imperial Nu-class Shuttle, and Imperial V-wing. -

A picture of the 501st Heavy and Officer has appeared (seemingly from a display of some sort), and the Officer's helmet is the existing one with holes above the brow line. Provided that the Minifig is not misassembled, it looks like we are not getting a lower placement for the rangefinder as we see on the box. ๐ -
That part has not appeared in Trans-Dark Blue since 2010 (and was only included in four SP3 sets and one Dacta set), so its inclusion in a relatively small City set is quite welcome!

Good point - Looking at it again, the front does look more spider-like than vampire-like. -

There TIE Bomber looks good; from what I can see, it has nice greebling and non-shooting blaster cannons (finally!). The Imperial officer may be Rae Sloane, but it is a bit difficult to tell without a clear picture of the torso and hair (Sloane does seem to be the most likely option, though), and the TIE Pilot seems to have a new helmet mould that covers the back of the head. ๐ค -

The 501st battle pack looks great! The Heavy Troopersโ helmets look better with the visors attached, and they actually do have backpacks (with a third printed backpack tile likely, since those pieces are normally included as extras!). The macrobinoculars are excellent, though I hope that they are able to flip up onto the โforeheadโ of the helmet (as well as fit P1 helmets). I do think that the Heavies needed a new leg printing, though, since the regular legs have too much white. I am very curious to see what the Officer looks like in-hand, since a second new Clone helmet with a lower attachment-point would be greatly appreciated! -

I am skeptical of the leaked polybag; I checked, and 2K does not make any soccer-related games (they do for other sports, though), so I am not sure why LEGO would make a soccer shark costume as part of a license with them. ๐ -
The new Cyber Stunt Bike has a Minifig that feels like an update of Unitron, and even includes a Trans-Dark Blue visor! ๐

There is only one spear in the set, since it represents Loki's sceptre from the first Avengers movie; the part appears to be the existing one. -

The mechs have leaked; all three use the Ninjago Core limbs, Thanos has the moulded Infinity Gauntlet with all six stones, and Rocket appears to have his GotG1 orange suit (also, his mech is not Groot). Since the front bumper has fang stylisation, I actually wonder if the car was going to be a Morbmorbile at some point during development. The stud shooters do feel tacked-on, and bat wing pieces would fit in their place. ๐ค -
Marvel Superheroes 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
Classic_Spaceman replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I am not convinced that the leaked Cap Minifig is real; the torso looks just a bit off and decal-ish to me. That said, the eyebrows being ever-so-slightly misaligned with the eyes suggests that at least the head is real. If we actually are getting the Avengers S.H.I.E.L.D. Quinjet, I doubt that we will be getting all six original Avengers, since $100 is too low for five Minifigs, one Bigfig, and 700+ parts. My guess is Cap, Nat, Clint, Tony (Mk. VII), Loki, Chitauri, with a chariot side-build. Are we sure that the Hulkbuster is IW and not AoU? With the Quinjet possibly being from the first movie, an AoU set seems more likely.
