  1. I think I'd still attempt to raise the boiler a plate or two, but leave the cab as-is. It's your model, and I am not trying to drive the car for you, but to my eyes, she still looks a bit too low. Ideally, the tops of the drivers (not the over-sized flanges) should be either where the boiler begins, or a plate above. Also, it looks like your cab actually has a couple of plates of height to "give" to the boiler, relative to the detailing (the cab shouldn't go any higher - just the boiler). I know this may seem overly anal, but everything else about the model is first-rate, so I am guessing you're probably pretty picky about details, too. Plus, I have done these massive "oh fudge" reworks on engines of my own, so it's not like I am advocating for some punishment I haven't suffered in turn. *Edit* Just noticed something else: if you hope to run this engine, you are going to want to give yourself more clearance on the cow-catcher. It's riding directly on top of the rail heads, and that's a no-go for running. You'll need at least one plate of clearance, and possibly more. You might also want to rework the trailing truck and try to include one of big ben's medium drivers. On the prototype, the wheel in that truck is noticeably larger than those of the lead bogie or the tender. This is a pretty small change and could probably be accomplished relatively easily (and if you are tackling the other stuff, why not bag it all at once?).
  2. Wow. Nice. I do kind of wonder if it wouldn't benefit from inverting the wheels to represent larger, custom drivers? I appreciate that this would require an extensive retooling (lengthening the boiler; re-seating the lead and trailing trucks, etc.), but the 1500s had approximately 70" drivers, which is a bit much to ask of the stock wheel to represent. *Edit* If those are already custom wheels, I suggest lifting the boiler a plate or two. It may seem unnatural, but you should be able to see "daylight" between the tops of the drivers and the bottom of the cylinder.
  3. I've encountered your videos before and, honestly, your obsession with filming plastic trains crashing is unusual at best.
  4. It's great. I do think, however, that a lot of the natural slenderness of the original has been lost, which is a shame. This looks like a bulkier, more resilient re-imagining where the ship's role has dramatically changed; this is a heavy fighter, and the old ship was a light scout and interceptor. Also, the old version had a fair amount of white. This doesn't.
  5. I think the fort looks like a serious design, and the ship looks like a cartoon - basically, the fort looks like the work of an expert, and the ship a 'good first effort'

This took a lot of very small-scale engineering and effort (and I'm not really a car or cycle MOCer, normally, so this is somewhat out of my comfort zone), but - as far as I can tell - it all works and would hold together. Note that this is the newer-style Fenrir that has been canon since Advent Children in 2005, rather than the older Harley-style hog from the original game.
  7. So... does the real part lack the holes in both the studs and on the bottom of the board (like the one in LDD has)?
  8. LDD lists this is as 46203 - Snowboard. Bricklink has 46203 as this - a much smaller Snowboard which is also in LDD. So... what is the above part? Does it actually exist? Is it sold on Bricklink (and can someone tell me what I am looking for)? Thanks.

  11. Personally, the original is my favorite. I upvoted it. If you're savvy, try to spread word of this in Canadian-friendly social media. In my experience, there's a fair amount of nationalism north of the border, and people will upvote Canada-friendly projects even if they aren't into Lego. That's how that God-awful Toronto subway got through, and this is a thousand times better than that.

  13. I was bored. Not 100% satisfied with the stern. A lot of carracks appeared to utilize a transom stern, but I'm not sure it conveys all that well in lego. I might fiddle with doing a rounded stern instead, which would likely be easier, even if it would push the era back a ways:
  14. I actually kind of like the ship. It has two things going for it: 1) It's a bit of a different design. As others have pointed out, it's something semi-resembling a carrack - which is nifty. These ships played SUCH a role in the earliest age of piracy, so it's nice to get one. 2) It's small. Lego hasn't done a small ship since the late 1990s.
  15. The more I look at the brick sails, the less I like them. The lack of a line from the foremast to the bowsprit - leaving the jib hanging there - is just lazy design.

  18. I think we should have our own banner. I don't believe it would be that difficult to come up with one.
  19. You'll have to move the main mast forward and heighten it (or shorten the foremast - possibly both). None of these tasks are exactly rocket science. For a more advanced project, heigtening the stern and forecastles would also go a long way to creating a carrack.
  20. It's going to take some work to turn this into a reasonable facsimile of a carrack, but it's not impossible. Plus, I think a lot of us are going to be doing significant reworking here regardless simply out of a distaste for brick-built sails.

  23. I really like the Skull Island. The mill looks neat, too. I might need a few of these, now.
