Ever since I designed my Z-95 alternate build, I have been receiving messages and comments about designing an ARC-170. I was initially hesitant as I was concerned about getting the four S-foils right on the wings, and do I need 2 or 3 sets of Jedi Bob, as its RRP is very high. After combing through the parts list, I decided 2 sets was enough and S-foils should work if I keep them as light as possible. Here it is my ARC-170 alternate build, short for Aggressive Reconnaissance -170 starfighter, iconic for its heavy nose, three-man crew, S-foil system and a pair of huge wingtip mounted laser cannons. All combined to make it the ultimate heavy long range starfighter, designed to fly dangerous scout missions and raids deep in enemy territory ahead of the Venator Star Destroyers. The ship’s heavy nose section featured an impressive sensor package, plus its communication and jamming devices. Curved slopes are used for the centre of the nose, with brackets holding the wedge plates. The bubble canopy seats on the angle created by wedge plates to create a smooth transition from the front cockpit to the dorsal cockpit. The pilot sits by himself in the front cockpit, the Wizzo and the tail gunner fit snuggly back-to-back inside the dorsal cockpit. The space frame was meant to be flanked by massive engines, but I had to make do with 3x3 round bricks and barrels, they did the job. The openings represent retro-thrusters, they combined with powerful engines added to the ship’s maneuverability. The hyperdrive is housed inside the wedge sloped piece at the back. Each of the four S-foils are made using only four pieces to keep it as light as possible, connected by a two-stud clip. They will remain open when on display or being swooshed around. I started the design using the angled axle connectors, but the whole system is too bulky and can’t be opened or closed. A stand was built using the remaining pieces to display the ARC-170 with opened S-foils. The model is very solid, even the main wings are sturdy enough to be picked up from the mid-span; I recommend picking up the model from the nose and holding it on the belly while swooshing around S-foiled deployed. This pair of huge wingtip mounted laser cannons are strong enough to punch through a capital ship’s armour. Spring shooters and technic bricks formed the mounts for the laser cannons, because the technic bar pieces are quite long and protruding, they can be easily knocked off with the two technic bricks. The heavy fighter was not as maneuverable as small nimble single-seat fighters, it was armed with two rear facing blaster cannons for protection. They are made using hinge plates and cylinders originally used for landing gears. I am very happy and proud with my first ARC-170 model, it goes perfectly with my other Clone Wars starfighters from the 75388 Jedi Bob’s Starfighter. In the chaotic aftermath of Order 66, Jedi Master Bob found himself on the run from the Empire. A malfunctioning hyperdrive led him to an uncharted planet on the Outer Rim, the desolate world of Caprica. Embracing his Jedi instincts, Bob scavenged the planet for resources, eventually stumbling upon the remnants of a hangar. The squadron insignia, bearing the number 3 and the word "Vigilantes," sparked a new hope within him. Intensive salvage operations yielded enough parts to rebuild a starfighter, combining elements of his own vessel with those of the abandoned squadron. The result was the Viper, a powerful triple-engine craft with a distinctive three-pointed silhouette. The long nose cone resembles the one on the Z-95, a retractable landing struts is built into the nose, system ports and access are built using grille pieces. I used two shields for the transition between the nose and the cockpit. A cluster of 3 engines allows for high acceleration, two side cooling intakes shares the same cylinder design of Incom ones, the top intake is offset and more integrated into the fuselage with a stabilization fin sitting on top of it, built in SNOT. Two laser canons are mounted on the forward wing tips. The small Anhedral wings are optimized for space flights where maneuvering is done by thrusters. The Viper can still holds its own in atmosphere with its high wing load using its great speed and acceleration. With the Viper, Bob hopes to escape Caprica and continue his fight against the Empire. This is my 5th alternate build for the 75388 Jedi Bob’s Starfighter, I am a big fan of the Colonial Viper Mark II from the Battlestar Galactica 2004 TV series. I encountered problems in realizing the design I wanted and had to take a break, then after the model was built, many different versions of the red and white colour schemes were built and tried. Due to the amount of time and effort I spent on this one, this is currently my favourite model. The E-Wing Starfighter was designed to replace the T-65 X-Wing in the New Republic, it never eventuated as the T-70 X-Wing came out, but E-Wing is a still cool looking starfighter.Pieces from Jedi’s Bob’s Starfighter make it possible to make a model the portrays the design characteristics of the E-Wing. - A sloped stubby nose- Astromech sitting behind the cockpit- Hyperdrive and Power generator at the back of the fuselage- Slanted delta wings- Two outboard engines hanging below the wings- Wingtip Laser canonsI had a bit of problems building up the back fuselage that housed the hyperdrive and power generated, the grille pieces and 2x2 round plate are used to show greebling. No landing gear was possible due to the nose raised quite high from the slanted wings. Nonetheless, even with the limitations, I believe this model captures all of the major characteristics of the New Republic E-Wing, making it another worthy addition to your LEGO Star Wars collection. The inclusion of 3-stud wide round pieces with axle holes opened up more options to alternate builds for the 75388 Jedi Bob's starfighter. First one of my designs to utilize those pieces is the Clone Z-95 Starfighter, the predecessor to the famous X-Wing. The model has twin engines on the delta wing roots, flanking the bubble canopy behind its long nose. It has a retractable nose landing gear and a laser cannon on each of the wing tips. Due to its flat design, the overall size of the Z-95 is a lot bigger compare to my Eta-2 and Gunship, making it great for both play and display. Eta-2 Actis Jedi Interceptor is the replacement for the Delta-7, I thought it's appropriate to use pieces from the 75388 Delta-7 to build the Eta-2 for Jedi Bob. The new fighter is one of the lightest and agile fighter designed, it removed the forward nose frame to save more weight, leaving the front of the ship in a forked shape. This model follows the same design DNA from my 75333 design, cockpit was made using SNOT and engine pods below attached by technic axle connectors. Delta wings are made using wedge plates, red pieces representing the S-Foils. An astromech droid head was made using three 2 x 2 round pieces. This time there are technic figure ski poles which made the inner laser cannons along the wings, they turned out great. This Eta-2 is a great companion to Jedi Bob’s Delta-7, will look great in any Republic hangar. I was pleasantly surprised when LEGO released another Delta-7 Starfighter so soon after the 75333 Obi-Wan Kenobi's Jedi Starfighter. This unexpected opportunity allowed me to experiment and create multiple alternate builds. While I initially anticipated a straightforward replication of my previous gunship design, the new set's variations presented some interesting challenges. I decided to put in the controller slope piece into the cockpit this time to allow space for a single pilot, as it’s more proportionate to the overall size of the model, but one can change back to a two-seater if you take out the controller. For easier building, I have broken the whole thing down into 9 manageable sections: 2 wings, 4 side panels, a back ramp, spine, nose and base; snapping them together on studs is a breeze. The back ramp does open, but the support structure blocks out the interior. This small gunship packs a punch. There are two nose mounted laser cannons, one tail laser cannons, with two missile launchers on top of the wings, made using axles and round bricks. The two 6 x 12 Wedge Plates make the wings easy to design with minimum number of pieces. In terms of handling this model, I would recommend picking it up from the spine, and swooshing it around holding the cargo bay floor or front side panels. If you would like to hold it on the back panels, place the pressure on the two light bluish grey 2 x 2 round plates. This gunship is an evolution of my different gunship alternate builds from different sets, it’d be a fantastic addition to any LEGO Star Wars collection! The 2024 Durmstrang Ship is about as close to a carrack as Lego has done, while the 2020 Pirates of Barracuda Bay and 3-in-1 pirate ship are based on a Galleon. The hull is completely brick-built, curved wedges create the tumblehome, where the hull grows narrower above the waterline than its beam. I was amazed on how LEGO created the angles on the forecastle, using hinge plates and the aftercastle, using angled technic beams. The fabric sails with double headed eagle and striped streamers are unique to this set and will be great for any tall ships. I decided to buy a second set to build a proper carrack, lengthen the hull and enlarge the superstructures. I decided to call her the Mary Rose, in honour of arguably the most famous Carrack in history it was raised in 1982 in one of the most complex and expensive maritime salvage projects in history. My carrack has high forecastle and aftercastle with a low waist of open decking in the middle. This makes boarding more difficult and reduces the quantity (and so weight) of heavy structural timbers that carry the soldiers. I used Madame Maxime’s body and head, with Karkaroff’s long hair, to build the figurehead of the ship. The bow remained the same with layers of plates and tiles representing overlapping planks of wood, dark tan pieces acting as bracing on the reddish brown hull, and the rudder sits beneath the transom stern. A spritsail was added to the bowsprit, another square sail was added to the foremast, and finally a bigger sail swapped out the smaller one on the main mast. The medium nougat cables form stays beside the masts. The forecastle used the same structure as the aftercastle, decorated with golden lanterns. Two beds and a blue table can be seen if you removed the deck. The aftercastle is ornated with different shields with a dark red framed structure. These dark red and medium azure highlights look fantastic, in combination with pearl gold posts. A large dining table serving drums sticks with wine serving is placed on the deck beneath the aftercastle. I pushed out the window pieces to line up with the dark red frames to build a large summercastle and poop deck. The dark red frames are built to the edge to close the gap from the angled structure. The lateen rigged mizzenmast stands on the poop deck, with golden lanterns on the four corners. The light blue carriage was untouched from the modifications, allowed me to have two horse carriages. I am really happy how “Mary Rose” turned out as a colourful display tall ship. My fifth interstellar spaceship build takes inspiration from the classic Vic Viper, an alternate build by anderson_brick_art. Here is my version on it by incorporating the canards and forward-swept wings seen in Sky Girl's version. This unique combination creates a sleek and aerodynamic design perfect for interstellar travel. To achieve the necessary angles, I've utilized hinge pieces for the engine inputs, vertical stabilizer and rudder. Fourth alternate build from 2 x 60430 Insterstellar Spaceship has arrived! This time, I have transformed the 2 x 60430 Interstellar Spaceship into a single-seater fighter inspired by the iconic Northrop YF-23 Black Widow, an aircraft known for its diamond-shaped wings and innovative all-moving V-tails, unfortunately it wasn’t good enough to beat the Lockheed YF-22 in the end. The V-tails combine the functions of the rudder and horizontal elevator, resulting in a lighter and more aerodynamic design. I really liked how those white hexagonal windscreens look when used as faceted wedge slopes, so I used all 4 on this model. Front one for radar housing, middle one for the airbrake, and the back two are engine housing. The printed engine curve slopes from the set serve as fairings between the wings and fuselage, with a 1x1 cheese slope in sand blue completing the color scheme at the end. Dark bluish grey slopes form the powerful twin engines and a tail boom equipped with a rear-facing radar. To showcase this fighter in all its glory, I've also constructed a custom angled display stand. Back in February, when I designed my Galaxy Explorer, I envisioned a two-seater with a forward-tandem layout. However, I wasn't satisfied with the connection of the 10x3 wedge slopes at the skinny front to the bulky back, and the need for additional wedge plates to elevate the second cockpit. This ultimately led to the forward-backward seating arrangement in both my Galaxy Explorer and Galaxy Fighter Macross Version. With this new design, I tackled the cockpit challenge by using 6x2 wedge slopes to fill the gap between the 10x3 wedge slopes. Flag pieces cleverly covers the edges from different wedge slopes, creating a clean and unified look. The inspiration for the delta wings came from iconic Star Wars ships like the Delta-7 Aethersprite and Star Destroyers. After some experimentation, I achieved the desired wing design, complete with an orange roundel that serves the dual purpose of adding the classic space logo and structurally supporting the wedge plates. Delta-7X Super Aethersprite Heavy Starfighter packs a punch with twin engines on each wing, while the main engine, constructed from dark bluish gray wedge slopes, sits prominently behind the second cockpit. This build maximizes efficiency by utilizing all four aircraft fuselage pieces from the original sets. A colourful stand is made from the spare pieces, displaying the model on an angle. So, what do you think? Could this be the larger sibling of the Delta-7 Aethersprite Class Jedi Starfighter? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this alternate build! Lover how you achieved the angles on the starship! amazing work! -
thank you! it's always fun to combine 2 sets into a cooler builder, and the 60430 is always on sale too! Thank you! I was happy how the overall shape turnt out! The leftover forward fuselage piece gave my the impetus to build the stand, just a little spark.

The Galaxy Fighter is a follow-on design of the Galaxy Explorer MOC from two LEGO 60430 Interstellar Spaceships. This two-seater fighter boasts impressive manoeuvrability thanks to its unique design elements: Canards and Forward-Swept Wings: These features provide superior agility in atmospheric flight, allowing for tight turns and swift manoeuvres. Triple Airbrakes and Thrust Vectoring Engines: Offering exceptional control even at high speeds and sharp angles of attack, these elements ensure the pilot remains in command during any dogfight. Easy-Access Maintenance Panels: Located conveniently under the central airbrake, these panels allow for quick repairs and modifications, keeping your fighter battle-ready. Building a Sturdy Fighter:The Galaxy Fighter combines various sloped and wedge pieces to create its distinctive canards and wings. To ensure durability during play, the canards are built up to three plates thick, preventing them from snapping off easily.Classic Space Meets Modern Design:A touch of nostalgia is added with reddish-orange half-circle tiles that lock the black wedge pieces into place on the wings. These tiles also represent the iconic LEGO® space logo in a brick-built form. Additionally, hinge brick top plates are used to secure various pieces, creating a robust model.A colourful stand is made from the spare pieces, displaying the model on an angle.Inspired by Macross:The final design pays homage to the VF-31Siegfried from the Macross series. This sleek design allows the Galaxy Fighter to achieve an impressive size while remaining under 400 pieces, making it a perfect build for both display and play. The Kom’rk Class Gauntlet was the original Mandalorian starfighter that first appeared on the Clone Wars series. Its signature cranked arrow wings can pivot 360 degrees around the cockpit to reduce the G-force on the pilot while doing heavy maneuvers. The Fang Fighter was derived from this Gauntlet, since I have already designed it I thought it’s a good opportunity redesign it to the original Mandalorian starfighter, its overall shape is based on the 2021 Mandalorian Starfighter Lego set.The Gauntlet has twin engines on each wing, while the Fang Fighter has only one on each wing with a central engine behind the cockpit. I modified the wings to accommodate the twin engines. The four engine outlets are made by two 2x2 round plates. There are only three pieces of 2x2 round stud tiles, but you need four for the trans-light blue inverted radar dishes to represent all four engine exhausts. If you had made my A-Wing, B-Wing or Gunship builds, you will have a spare 2x2 round stud tile. The Gauntlet has long forward mandibles with twin laser cannons in between, while the Fang Fighter has the cannons on the wings. The cockpit was redesigned to fit two minifigures and used two 1x12 black plates to support the long mandibles. Two lightsaber hilts are used for laser cannons. Due to the piece limitations, the wings cannot rotate into an upright position for landing. I was very encouraged by the success of my B-Wing design, I wanted to try my hand on another Original Trilogy classic, the A-Wing. The 75362 has the perfect windscreen piece, four technic round blocks and plenty of brackets and slopes. The main difficulty I foresaw with the A-Wing design is the lack of wedge slopes, I had to recreate the wedge shape by arranging curved slopes sideways and forwards along the edge of the fuselage. The dark red tiled top panel swoops down from the cockpit, giving this A-wing a fast and sleek vibe. The panel is connected on both ends with a hollow mid-section. That red continues on the sides, bottom, and even the engines. The windscreen piece is the standard one used for Lego A-Wings and the pilot sits back on the studless connection; the shield generator located behind the cockpit is built with various curved slope pieces. The single barrel laser cannons can swivel top and down, very robust connection on two studs each. No landing gear pieces are available, so I built a stand from the spare pieces. The angled engines are built around brackets connected to the fuselage by a technic pin, locked down by a clip plate. The vertical stabilizers are plates connected to studded bricks. And those pearl dark gray Technic round blocks? They add a nice touch of detail, mimicking the trust vector control rings. The finish model is very robust to play with and the slopped fuselage is very smooth and streamlined. I hope I captured the essence of the A-Wing Starfighter.
