A lot of detail right there. Real nice. Were you intending to emulate a Progress Rail rebuild or did you just like the radiators that way? And is that supposed to be an antigrav dewitt rebuild alco or am I hallucinating?

https://photos.app.goo.gl/uvNncq3c2ZvjwfVs5 Here you can see how the motor rests on top of a 2x3 plate with holes. The green bricks are 1x2s with stud on one side, 3 of them hold the motor. https://photos.app.goo.gl/hRvTfG1dyWZCCUGJ6 Here you can see the array of 8 jumpers that hold the motor mount on top and allow it to attach to the top plates of the boiler, and the boat weight in the boiler. https://photos.app.goo.gl/Zz5WRMSH7P2p7Rkw7 And this shows the gears and offset achieved from the technic beams the same was as JANGbricks did, at what is here the grey and white technic bricks, but with the standard frame retained. https://photos.app.goo.gl/cLRxdJd3NprPFzeQ7 And here is my slightly more elegant firebox solution Icemorons, How did you achieve the 1/2 stud offset? Trainfan, the R40 curves really seem to give it trouble. A boat weight in the boiler helped a little bit for me but any unusual curve transition still throws the lead truck off the tracks. I am still trying though, I have at least one more front truck redesign I have to try.

I just copied the video, after some experimentation I don't recommend his method, you can put the motor in the exact same place if you keep the stock technic beams. I can take some pics of my setup if it would help you.

Looks like the instructions are down again... :(

I put a boat weight in the boiler, and all it does it derail. on normal r40 curves it rides right up the side of the rail and over about 50% of the time. I've redesigned the lead truck about 10 times but no luck yet.

Thanks all. That was exactly the information I was trying to find.

I just want to thank you for the instructions, this is an awesome model and making it available like this is great!

I'm trying to build a set of coaches for the hogwarts express, and I'm curious as to the placement of marker lights on UK trains. I'm pretty sure a "excursion" move like Olton Hall and the corridor coaches would have something like a white box with a red light above a red reflector somewhere on the end of the equipment, because I've found a few pictures of such on UK freight equipment. But I would like to know if and where they would place this on passenger equipment IF they do. We have the same piece of equipment here in the US but we only use it for local moves.

So I motorized my Hogwarts Express the JANGBRICKS way, but the front truck is giving me problems. It was fine until I added traction tires but for some reason now I can't keep it on the rails. I've been trying different methods of flat plates to hold it down, but so far no luck. Has anyone had a specific method that worked?

When I made a Pick a Brick order two days ago the bogies were available. At least in my browser PAB has some real problems displaying everything but i was seeing them.

Nice. I just did a coal load up like that it's a really good look.

Brickworld 2019 retrospective and some of my MOCs

Both locos are great, with a lot of attention to detail. I dream of putting together a triple set of those GEVOs. Are you at all considering releasing instructions for those well cars? Those side frames are really nice too, they would soup up a lot of EMD models. -
I MOC'd up a couple different Loco options in LDD for the 60197. A US kind of MP40 style diesel and a Cities Sprinter ish electric based off of the same design. I'm not sure if they'll ever be built out of real bricks, but I would like to do the diesl at some point. I may have different plans for the electric. SD100AC

What position are your motors in and are they linked by wire or do you use two receivers?
-
I've seen multiple sources saying the jacobs bogies help with stability, and I have tried it both ways. Having the cars articulated like that reduced the problems derailing between the carriages there but seemed to make it worse on the power cars and between them and the coaches. I've got to try putting a loaded battery box in the second power car, and then just the two motors in one power car and see what produces better results. It sure sounds like running two separate IR receivers works better than having a wire but I'm wondering if that's because the wire binds the cars up...
-
I finally purchased all the Power Functions components I needed to motorize and light a duel Horizon Express set. I replaced the *lead* trucks in each power car with motors, one running off a long extension cord, all one battery box, one IR receiver. So far its just derail city. I have jacobs bogies under all the coaches, and I primarily derail on the coaches end trucks (that connect to the power car), but half as much as that the motors come off the rails. Is there a "best" set up that people have found, or some ideas that would help this train actually run? I just finished reading every topic I could find via the search feature and it seems that the derailing is mentioned, but not really solved. Thanks everyone.

Hogwarts Express with Hogsmeade station (real world MOC and a LDD WIP)

It's nice to see an appropriately sized tender, I love that design! -
I bought a circle of R56 about a month ago, received them in three days, NICE. I can't wait to see what else you put out cause I'm just gonna keep throwing money at ya whenever I have it. I was in a LEGO store the other day convincing the staff to buy your tracks, and I'm not stopping there!
