  1. That's great, I didn't realize he had multiple plates! I'm gonna be working on seeing if I can get Bee to not need partsforming. I agree with pretty much all of these statements, especially that Bumblebee should do very well due to the price being lower than Optimus. I agree that a Decepticon is up next- I've been doing a lot of work on a lego Megatron and he's not too hard to make into a transforming tank shape, it's just whether or not Hasbro and lego want to do cybertronian tank megatron. I think it's a 50/50 between him and soundwave. Starscream'll likely be the second or third, I just figure he combines not being the leader with being military tech, so I feel like we likely wouldn't see him until after megatron. I don't think so- where do you see that? Partsforming is a transformers fandom term, I'd be a bit surprised if lego used it.
  2. Yeah, this is what I thought you were saying. I actually wholeheartedly agree, I think it'd be an interesting thing. Eurobricks doesn't quite have the infrastructure, but a community ranking of all the sets would be something to behold. I don't know if tierlistmaker has an aggregate feature where it compiles what everyone's put, but it'd be something to check out.
  3. This is the type of thing Tony Zuko says to circus performers. Not that I don't agree- I actually think I'm starting to see what Turtle's trying to say, and I respect the idea of a sort of community consensus on set quality. 2005 is probably a 1 in terms of year-by-year as we always complain about sets only having batman and joker and 2005 consisted quite literally of only batman and joker. But I'd say the best years for the theme were 2006, 2012, 2015, and 2018. (The lego DC theme- I count the lego batman movie as it's own thing, but if you must, chuck in 2017) Any JL centric year or year where it's starting off. I think what we need is a hard reset on the theme. A big relaunch that'd serve as a jumping-on point for kids. Preferably accompanied by a child-friendly Batman cartoon, but at this point I think lego should just take the risk. Just look in the toy aisle- it's two near-identical batmobiles (aside from the color) and a batwing in terms of system sets. No variety, nothing flashy, the only cheap set for kids to start out on is a mech gimmick. I've got an idea. It's on the backburner (I mean, like, waaaaay on the backburner given how many projects I've got with lego. I've got two big ones up first, and they don't even continue until July because I'm doing the lego star wars contest), but I'll try to MOC it out in the fall.
  4. You were right. After all the stuff Optimus got, I was hoping they'd give Bee Spike or a G1 style multicolored energon cube, but this does look like good value for parts regardless. To my knowledge G1 megatron almost always turns into either a gun or a tank. I think the Cybertronian tank megatron I posted above should be fine- lego's no stranger to sci-fi tanks, after all. But if they're really afraid of that, he often turns into a jet or heli in non-G1 appearances. A jet would be pretty tough, but Transformers Animated (2007) has a relatively G1 megs that turns into a helicopter, so I suppose that's possible. Yeah, these are pretty much my thoughts. I don't like the partsforming, don't like the arms (especially that arm joint- the T-rex arms are just going to be how he looks), but overall it's still a lego bumblebee transformer and it doesn't look overpriced so still a day 1 buy. Agreed overall. And like you say, the little easter eggs are very nice. Though with the hood, I think you have to swap the parts. All of the little easter eggs are nice- the goldbug shoutout is not something I ever thought a lego set would contain. Either the designer's huge into transformers or someone at hasbro made the sticker.
  5. Feels straight out of a level of the old lego video game. Love it!
  6. After I posted I thought "wait, are there other august sets coming out? No, I think that's all of them." Can't believe I missed Peridea. I'd prefer all of them at this point as well. I generally like the spacing out, as it draws out discussion, but they're really playing chicken with the leakers here, and that tends not to go well for them. I've been saying this for months- totally agree. The reason DC gets away with it is there's not much ON-topic to talk about. Turtle shows up in LOTR or space every once in awhile, but his greatest success pre-DC was the indiana Jones thread, because that theme is more dead than DC. MKAJosh might be lenient with us, but he definitely keeps the ship on course. If it's not an astromech droid, I'll be very surprised.
  7. I'm totally guilty of discussing non-set related stuff but I think this is a good way of putting the issue and setting boundaries for more contentious stuff. He doesn't seem to be a star wars guy for whatever reason. I think we'll still get leaks first, and that they'll be any day now. Keep your fingers crossed! I feel like official reveal wise, it'll be either the RTG sets or the rest of the anniversary ones.
  8. Turtle, have you used Brickset? It's a very helpful resource for how many different DC sets and figures have been made.
  9. Optimistically, because this has happened infrequently enough that they just don't realize that's what they're seeing. Cynically, because the larger figure lists get more clicks. Lucky- I gave up. Haven't even seen a 20% sale on it near me. The store closest to me quite literally had a sale on all star wars and marvel sets... except for the X-jet. I generally agree with you on this, but I remember the Sail Barge model being borderline unpresentable/not even the full barge or something. Could also have been part of an old model, or I could be misremembering, just bears mentioning.
  10. I agree. Optimus was the obvious first choice, and after him it was a toss-up between Bee or a prominent decepticon. We got Bee, so (if he does well) I think next up is Soundwave and/or Cybertronian Tank Megatron. Yeah, I get where it's coming from as I also love Prime, but I think you are in the minority there. At this point for consistency if nothing else (though the G1 designs are my favorite anyway, especially with Skybound's current run using those designs) A Fowler minifig would be great though. Best human side character in the entire franchise. On that topic, what accessories are we thinking we'll get with Bee? Just the blaster is certainly possible, but Optimus came with a lot, most of which weren't on that front-of-the-box image, so I'm hoping we get a couple for Bee as well. Besides his gun, I'd love to see a Spike minifigure, but that might be wishful thinking.
  11. At this point I don't really trust figure leaks unless the list sounds confident. The track record of them saying "and x number additional figures" or "possibly more" is not great, it often ends up that we not only don't get any additional figures, we don't get some of the ones they said would for sure be there. My guess is that lego, as we know, starts out with larger figure counts and whittles it down, and for some reason some leakers have been getting prelims of some sort with that larger number. (Side note- can you imagine if someone got ahold of Stafford's list early on and told us all there'd be 70 figures in the bugle?)
  12. Yeah, the more I look at it the more I have to agree with you and @CF Mitch. The 8-wide chest in itself is fine, but G1blebee has a more square torso, not this horizontal rectangle. That, along with the massive shoulders, makes his chest look wide and gives him an overall top-heavy bruiser look, which is weird for bumblebee. My money's on soundwave and/or megs, though I really hope Ratchet isn't far behind. Depends on the scale, but I could see it. Motorcycle Arcee would work, but if they stick with G1 she'd be taller (though also slimmer) than Bee. I think. G1 didn't exactly have the most consistent sizes. Personally I'm hoping we get casseticon GWPS at some point, just because there's a good number of iconic ones and I can't see them giving soundwave more than two or three. Yeah they'd have to be careful- I know Macross can be really protective of that jetfire design- but I want to see him in lego! Oh, than yeah, I stick with what I said originally too! Definitely wouldn't mind a CMF of the figs. We'd get some fun accessories too, like we could have a Sam microfigure, and I'd love a minifig-scale Matrix of Leadership or Ion Blaster.
  13. I can't remember if GIFs work here but I want to send that GIF of Jesse from breaking bad screaming and crying against the car door. WE JUST GOT ONE, HE CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT! Regardless, good ideas for the hardware- I'm especially shocked we haven't had a headhunter vs separatist fighter yet. Lego loves their starfighter two-packs as of late. Good. Now we just have to wait Until All Are One Have posted in the transformers thread to make it popular leading inexplicably to my crack dream of a full on theme rather than one set every couple years. LOTR fans know the feeling. (Though I'd take Transformers Brickheadz like LOTR gets- how are those not a thing? Low effort by Lego, Funko's shown they'd be popular, I don't even LIKE brickheadz but now I'm offended we don't have them.) (Cries in 2020 X-wing) Lego has shown they love their $100ish starfighter dogfights, so here's one for each saga film. These would not all release at once as there's a bit of overlap, more like two a year like we got in 2023: Naboo Fighter vs Vulture Droids ($89.99): Naboo Fighter and two vulture droids (because they're small). Comes with Child Anakin, 1x Naboo Pilot, R2-D2, Padme (battle dress), and 2x b1 battle droid. Delta-7 vs Slave One ($119.99): A 1000-ish piece Slave One and 200-ish piece Delta-7. Comes with Obi-Wan, Obi-Wan's astromech, Jango, Boba, and Lama Su. ARC-170 vs Tri-fighter ($109.99): Similar to the above one, with the ARC taking most of the part count. Comes with 3x Clone Pilot, 1x Republic Astromech, and 2x Buzz Droid. Y-wing vs TIE advanced ($109.99): Comes with Dutch Vander, Darth Vader, 1x Rebel Astromech, 1x Death Star Gunner, and Rebel Friend. Cloud Car vs Boba's Slave One ($129.99): Again, Boba's takes most of the part count. Comes with Boba Fett, Han Solo (carbonite), 1x Stormtrooper, Lando Calrissian, Lobot, and Bespin Guard. A-wing vs TIE interceptor ($89.99): Comes with 1x TIE pilot, 1x Rebel A-wing pilot, 1x Scout Trooper, Mon Mothma, and a Rebel Commando. Poe Dameron's X-wing vs TIE fighter ($99.99): Poe Dameron's X-wing and a First Order TIE fighter. Comes with Poe Dameron, BB-8, 1x First Order TIE pilot, 1x First Order Snowtrooper, and Jessica Pava. A-wing vs TIE Silencer ($99.99): Comes with Tallie Lintra, Kylo Ren, 1x First Order Special Forces TIE pilot, Paige Tico, and 1x First Order Technician. Resistance X-wing vs TIE Dagger ($109.99): (Poe's orange/white/blue one) Comes with Poe Dameron, R2-D2, 1x Sith Pilot, 1x Sith Trooper, and Beamont Kin. All good suggestions but I'd be shocked if we don't see a clone wars starfighter 2-pack and/including an ARC-170 in the next 3 years or so, and I'd always love a remake of Plo's fighter.
  14. He influenced it's creation, he's not genetically the dad. It'd be like if you told a guy he should have a kid- you may have given him the idea, but that's not your kid. If your clone's daughter someday kisses that kid's grandson, it's weird for many reasons, but they're not relatives. Though in legends, it'd be more like if you and your friend were trying to genetically create an Evil Baby (TM) in a lab, and a literal god got so angry about your Evil Baby (TM) experiments that he made Space Jesus. Yeah I mean I don't really feel much about it one way or the other- the figure's not the most interesting design, but that's not on lego (or disney, who I thank for not trying to make a 10-17 year old into their next baby yoda)
  15. Which is funny because Kirby is probably on the same field as Kratos in terms of video game characters who have killed the most gods. (I would also like to see this. It'd be a commitment as they'd need a good number of new molds, but I'd say Kirby's roughly on the level of animal crossing, even if that's more from Smash than his own games)
  16. It's a disgrace and they dragged Cal down with it. I'll never forgive the empire. I remember a few years ago they supposedly hired a leak agent, and I'll say the agent(s) have definitely upped their game. Aside from the survey leak, they have been able to keep a lot of stuff a lot closer to the chest this year. I wouldn't be surprised if the catalogues either had unique watermarks and some sort of larger penalty for leaking things, or if they just stopped including them. I think most retailers are pretty confident lego sets will sell regardless of what they actually are- most of the sets that do particularly poorly are lego exclusives. *cough* hulkbuster *cough* black panther bust Skeleton crew also features four children as the main characters- I feel like lego's more inclined to take the risk and make a set for that one. I wasn't so much talking about the rating (I believe all star wars content has been rated TV14/PG13 or below in the US, which is what lego seems to use to draw the line on what they will and won't make sets for) as the tone and how interested kids would be in it, I guess. Andor was TV-14 but pretty mature, and I think the set didn't do as well because not that many kids watched it. The acolyte does have lightsabers, so that's something. Yeah I don't put much stock in that theory, especially because the guy who posted here, again, was the guy who claimed live-action kanan would be a thing with some impact, but if it does turn out to be true, I think that'd cause me to break off from my current "watch almost all content" to more of how I am with marvel now, where I watch almost none of the shows and 30-50% of the movies. I think some lucasfilm story board guy tried to say that they didn't mean it, but in darth vader (vol 2 I think) #25, aka The Best Star Wars Comic Issue Of All Time, it is VERY heavily implied that plaguis and palpatine's machinations led to anakin's creation. I'd argue palpatine implies it in ROTS, but you could argue it's not clear. Here, if you look at the panel with pregnant Shmi in that issue, it's pretty clear that's what they're going for.
  17. I have great news- next year we're getting SS86 constructicons. Unfortunately if you do specifically want the combiner wars versions the SS86 leak makes it unlikely they're gonna reissue like they did Siege Jetfire or Titans Return Fort Max. Totally misunderstood your question- I thought you were talking about minifigures, not smaller brick-built figures. I'd totally be down for characters roughly the size and price point of the generations line, so like a $25 bumblebee, $35 Prime, etc, where they're all 2-in-1s. In fact, now that we've had a transforming Prime, I think I'd prefer it, just because this collection will quickly become prohibitively expensive and space-consuming and we'll never get characters like my boy Jetfire or @TotoMagnus's devastator.
  18. I gotta tell you, I'm not a big Phantom Menace guy. It's probably my second least favorite SW film. As a result, I was having a bit of trouble getting inspired to do something. But I do love Lego Star Wars, and TPM is why we got it when we did. So tapping into that, my phantom menace scene is based on the 1999 set Naboo Swamp, which is in turn based on the scene where Qui-Gon witnesses the invasion. I don't have a Jar Jar, so he's not here, but we've got the two central trees with the water between them, and Qui-Gon witnessing two STAPs fly in. I also threw in a droid squad in the background with the commander sporting an antenna like in the old lego games.
  19. I can see it to an extent just from that "lego versions of things one loves". The way I'll put it is that I love the show invincible. Probably my favorite animated show, and this is coming from a guy who loves star wars and transformers. I like the show so much I spent more money than I should have to import a firestar toys Invincible custom-printed lego minifigure from germany. I've got him flying around the bugle next to my spider-man. But I wouldn't want a diorama of him in a bloody pile with omni-man looming over him. I wouldn't want lego to make ANY invincible sets, for that matter. I like lego, I like some things that have R/MA/M ratings. And occasionally I like them enough to buy a custom invincible, or make a purist Harvey Spector fig. But I think people just get caught up more in "I like thing. I like lego. Where lego thing?" and don't think about what's best for the children's toy brand.
  20. Just a friendly reminder that not everything everyone says on the internet is true, even if they claim to have insider information. I seem to remember a certain leaker enthusiastic about a live-action kanan a year or two ago. But regardless, the only real relevance that show has to lego right now is that they were likely scared off from making sets by the disappointing performance/reception of previous shows and the potential maturity level. Really shocked we haven't seen any of the august sets yet. I feel like we've usually had some image leaks by now- I know a week or so ago I looked back to confirm that we had indeed had the august set images at that time last year.
  21. They're fine with that- we got Overwatch sets, after all, and I always considered T-rated games to be akin to PG-13 movies. To my knowledge they've never actually officially stated it's arkham based and were able to just pass it off as a batman set (plus, that's really not an arkham knight set, it just came with an arkham knight suit) Same here- I really respect them for sticking to their guns on this one.
  22. It never made much sense. I have to agree that I don't really trust the info, especially with how wonky some of these figure lists turn out. "Star destroyer has 12 figs.." High quality jar jar and 3po leak. Jar Jar's alright, I think a sith robe serves the character better but the face is on point and I get that they wanted to do something unique for him- this does look like an evil version of his dumb little vest he wears in canon. I mantain C-3PO is a waste of a slot and they should have chosen almost anyone else. If you were gonna do evil C-3PO, make him black like Triple-0 so he's visually distinctive (and can be used for trip). I get the joke but am not a fan of the figure. (I will say, if it's not just an inverted allegiance thing and having a swapped out arm is what makes him evil in the show, like doc ock's arms sometimes, I'd laugh. Not enough to like the figure choice, but it would be pretty funny)
  23. I use that first one on my Koska.
  24. Unacceptable, I curse you with making a comment in the lego transformers discussion thread because it doesn't get enough posts. We just got a new leak with the bumblebee image! I like this, but I can't pass up the opportunity for a 2x6 tile that just says "noooooooooOOOOOOOOOO!"
  25. I disagree- Rebels Thrawn, while somewhat similar in demeanor, was cursed by being a long-form TV show villain, meaning we ran into constant "ah but losing was part of my plan" or "They won the battle but not the war". 90s thrawn completely turned the tide. The deadnoughts were old but totally did their job- the new republic was on the brink in book three. The non-C'Baoth clones served just fine, at least in the first trilogy, with no hint of insanity. Thrawn would've lost the battle for the net device in book three due to the smuggler alliance, but if he lived through the battle, he still had a good shot at winning the war. Especially if C'baoth hadn't gone full aslume and basically let them destroy the cloning facility. I also meant that actually- brickheadz always have black eyes, even if they're on exposed faces. I get what you're saying about tan tiles to sort of show where the tan comes though, but they usually wear black eyeshadow with the cowl on anyway. For a brickheadz, I think the white tiles work fine. Ok, sorry- first wide-release brickheadz. If you want to get that specific, yes, batman/jonkler, supes/ww, iron man/cap, and oddly BP/strange all came first. Dang @CloneCommando99 you got called out. Turtle I've got some lego orders to ship out but I'll get back to you on this with my lists soon.
