Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think we got the pictures too, and he's saying that because the images looked like something from 2012. -
I don't know that I'd say that. 90s Thrawn. Not rebels thrawn. The guy who took the empire from controlling barely a few sectors and on the run from the rebels back to controlling half the galaxy. The man who managed to not only find a ton of warships for the empire but clone men to crew them. The man who only lost because Leia was Vader's daughter and C'boath was more unstable than even he could have guessed. Not unless you want to kill him! I didn't think it was that harsh. Especially considering a guy threatened to consume another forum member earlier. 1) it would be more accurate but also the most horrifying thing I've ever seen. The brickheadz never have normal eyes. 2): blue would have been best, I agree 3): Man is Cat's boyfriend. Not to be confused with Catman. 4): Because Battinson is the moody depressed batman. 5): He was the first brickheadz.

I can answer that second one for you- he told me earlier that levitating effects count towards the 100 part count.

LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Seriously- George deserves all of the praise for creating this universe, but he was a creep about Twi'leks. My personal theory now is that it doesn't actually exist and Young Leia's a shared hallucination. (But seriously, my money's still on an ewok) If one more person claims this with the absolutely 0 evidence of that that we have, I'm going to.... I don't know. I got lucky with the eating malak bet. I might sit this one out actually. I have really not been an Acolyte fan but Sol is an S-tier Jedi design, he's awesome, and I'll take that polybag now lego. -

Thanks! Shattered glass is an alternate history too, though, isn't it? Instead of the autobots losing the war for cybertron, the decepticons lose the war for earth and struggle to survive on an autobot-controlled cybertron with all the different autobot factions. I was actually trying to keep shattered glass in mind while doing it- the Jedi are evil and Sith are good instead of the standard star wars inversion of darth skywalker and jedi vader, just like it's good decepticons and evil autobots instead of Nemesis Prime or Autobot Megatron. Yeah those came design first, name and concept second. I did a contest entry for it awhile back- also where a lot of the write-up for the characters came from. -
[MOC] Bat-Family on Bat-Vacation
Mandalorianknight replied to BardDandelion's topic in LEGO Licensed
I submitted an entry for this contest, but I'm voting for you. This is incredible and a very fun concept. It's a disguise- he was hoping to hike alone, but batman found out about it. -
Fixed it for you. SOUNDWAVE SUPERIOR. Though I'm a hypocrite because he's not even on my list. It's tough out there for a veteran single dad with a horde of cassetticon kids. 1. The Emperor (best in ROTJ. The best just pure evil villain) 2. Green Goblin ("Comics" feels too vague. I'm going with when spidey's punching him in NWH and he's just laughing, or the "it's you" panel from superior spider-man. A second-up for that pure evil villain.) 3. Megatron (G1, Netflix War for Cybertron series, and what little we've seen of him in Skybound. I love the idea of him as this weary, worn-down man who's watching his civilization crumble around him and falling further and further to do what he thinks will bring it back) 4. Darth Vader (OT. The ultimate masked enforcer) 5. Kingpin (Daredevil netflix series. Great example of someone who had a good goal but too much of an "ends justify the means" mentality and lost themselves along the way.) 6. Thragg (Once again, "comics" is too vague, so I'm going to shout out the "he has me" panel. Great as both a "what's best for my people" villain and his evolution throughout the series) 7. Grand Admiral Thrawn (90s Thrawn Trilogy. Later stuff leans into the "good man on the wrong side" trope, and while the 90s thrawn is an excellent leader, he's also unmistakably a villain) 8. The Joker (The Dark Knight. Joker can be good as purely insane, but my favorite interpretation is this, where he only seems insane, has semi-noble goals of taking down the mob, and his fatal flaw is thinking-and trying to prove- that anyone pushed to the point he was pushed to would turn out like him.) 9. The Baron Vladimir Harkonnen (The movie. Usually a "book was better" guy but that was an excellent performance. Another just pure evil guy, but very calculating and analytical) 10. Shockwave (IDW, TFP. It's only logical.) Killer moth shadow box NOW. We did get Joker Manor, which is just a Jokerized Wayne Manor. But also, batman's had a ton of D2C sets, the X-men haven't had any. Let them have this one. The fact that they gave a lego brickheadz depression almost makes me forgive the sad state of the theme this year. Those all do look pretty good. They'll even the odds against brickheadz joker, too. That's dark, dude. (Don't worry turtle, this guy's got slizer in his name, he's not a threat. Couldn't even beat a bionicle)

Agree. I don't really get how you'd get that the brickheadz pack means the system set was cancelled. Both the sets we already knew about were pretty clearly just pushed back because the movie was. I'm not too sure about Hasbro, but Funko routinely does figures on R-rated properties. Lego avoids that pretty hard. While after my conversation with @ARC2149Nova awhile ago, I'm willing to agree there's a possibility a clear comic-based deadpool shows up in a D2C, I don't think there's any way imaginable anything deadpool would be in a smaller retail set. Doesn't matter what the branding is, the small and mid-sized retail sets are seen as for kids, and it'd be a PR nightmare. Especially if it's retail and not some sort of weird limited-release lego.com only thing. -
It is pretty good but I still prefer "Begging like a turtle" Honestly I'd more or less tie them, but that's just me. I don't dislike the notion of a Teen Titan aging up and joining the league, but it does illustrate his lack of villains. Solution: Let's make him some villains. I think a magician who hates technology would be fun, let's throw in a grundy-style beast, and we'll give him a catwoman style hacker lady who steals through the internet. Let's round it out with an AI villain. I'd honestly put Flash's above superman at this point, but mainly because I love the more recent notion that he's managed to get his fight with the rogues into a sort of game where no innocents are hurt or killed. It's nice to have that tier and then the pettiest man alive and the other edgy speedsters forming the more serious tier. Guys he's leaving us clues like the leakers. Killer Moth incoming. (Just joking, I'm excited to see how the shadowbox MOC goes.)

Build is an A-web defense cannon and a speeder bike. Alliance troopers battle pack ($19.99): 2x Alliance navy trooper (similar uniforms, but with the face area of the helmet closed off aside from a slit visor), 2x alliance infiltrators (similar to endor commandos, but with hoods instead of helmets and a darker green). Build is a stolen AT-RT scout walker. Snowstriker ($29.99): Luke Starkiller (grey flightsuit with black chest box and helmet. Stolen from a tricked Padme by Jedi master Kenobi, Luke was trained from birth in the Jedi Order and joined the terrorist group known as the Alliance), Dak Ratler, and a Coldtrooper (white and light blue uniforms). Also includes a molded Wampa they're hunting and a vicous Tauntan lizard. X-fighter ($59.99): Luke Starkiller (grey flightsuit with black chest box and helmet), Biggs Darklighter (he has no mustache but a scraggly beard), R2-D2, and an Alliance Ground Crewer (Fully enclosed version of the rebel fleet helmet) TIE-Wing ($49.99): TIE pilot (Gold flight suit), 2x Republic Navy Trooper (nougat uniforms), 1x General Skywalker (blue and gold armor, yellow lightsaber, damaged face with wispy grey hair. Due to having a childhood before being indoctrinated into the jedi cult, he was able to recognize their move against palpatine was evil and leaped to his defense. Being left for dead by Kenobi, who had gone to mustafar to eliminate the loose end that was the separatist movement's leaders, General Skywalker's damaged body was given an armored suit by the Kaminoans, and he continues to serve the Reborn Republic). Mos Eisley Ristorante ($79.99): Mos Eisley kitchen and dining area with Chef Wuher, a serving droid, Han Solo (a former Suntrooper kicked from the corps over corruption issues), Chewbacca (A classic example of a treacherous, backstabbing wookie), Officer Greedo, and 2x Bith painters. Star Defender ($159.99): Star Defender with interior bridge, barracks/armory, and conference room. Comes with Grand Admiral Thrawn (Exactly the same), Admiral Tarkin (a man who values civility over primal instinct, and also cares deeply about his men), Admiral Motti (Someone who, while he doesn't personally practice the sith religion, respects it's followers), 2x Republic crewer, 2x Suntrooper, and Chancellor Palpatine (One of the last members of the Sith religion after a thousand years of the Jedi attempting to exterminate the religion, Palpatine rose through the ranks of the senate, secretly working to oppose Jedi rule. After the majority of jedi were defeated by the Mandalorian troopers in the Clone Wars, Palpatine was given the chancellorship due to his ability to resist Jedi mind control.) MBS Jabba's Headquarters ($299.99): Jabba's headquarters, which serves as a courtroom, jail, and police station on the otherwise lawless tatooine. The central area of the set has Jabba's courtroom on top and a jail below. On one side is a guard post, small infirmary, and Han's maximum-security cell. On the other is another guard post, the main gate, and a booking area. Shhh.... there are enough people already asking for a new republic gunship. Don't let them hear you! (It's been less than a year, guys. I'm not even against new GAR sets in that cost bracket. Let's get an ARC, or even a system Venator. But the republic gunship doesn't need to be made more frequently than the falcon. I'm a fan of them keeping the most popular stuff on shelves consistently, but a new one before the old one retires is INSANE) I have been waiting. Ten. Years. I literally gave up and made my own a few years ago (Looks cool, but I didn't have a strong enough skeleton so without a stand it's hilariously floppy). And we already know Paul's kids wouldn't so much as slow Anakin down. I feel like Luke wouldn't even have to deal with that situation though- Mara wouldn't do that to him. Because she's the best currently legends- only character (don't worry, Revan's technically canon) and should have been an anniversary fig. I know this is beating a long-dead horse, but I am really confused by the anniversary fig selection, with it being 5-6 long-requested characters and one pretty bland choice. I can't imagine it was just because she's a female character, because Mara and Aphra seem like much better choices. I can't imagine it was just because she was from the live action shows, because Krrsantan, Koska, Axe, etc would have been better choices. This was also our best chance at Kino Loy, a character pretty much 0 kids would be remotely interested in, but I'm gonna keep my unrealistic expectation that he was considered for the anniversary figs. -
Return of the TURTLE! In honor of his grand return, I'll say one thing that Batman has better than any other DC character- the best rogue's gallery. Full stop. A rogue's gallery so good, they were able to make a successful batman show without a practicing batman. As I've said before I think it's the biggest issue with wonder woman- she just doesn't have enough iconic villains. To a lesser extent aquaman and GLs suffer from this- though while GL only has a couple iconic villains in terms of specific people, he's got the best extended lore of any leaguer so he's a little more safe. It's also what's keeping Cyborg from that Flash/GL/Aquaman tier- he's got Grid and not much more. The pokemon? (I know who Hit monkey is, don't worry)

Also a potential way around worry about the punisher being associated with the R-rating. I have to strongly disagree on that second point. It's not so much about what kids actually see- most kids probably watch rated-R films years before they're 17, for instance- but about what's socially acceptable to show to kids. At the end of the day, lego's a children's toy brand, and even when sets are marketed to adults, they're still from a children's toy brand. -
HE LIVES! Glad to see it. I always thought it stood for Dc Comics. Sort of an inception thing. First, did you add an image to my statement? On my screen there's a picture of what looks like doctor who characters added in in your qoute. I mean I agree with the general premise that it shouldn't be the only thing she's known for, but I'm also not sure that it is the main thing she's known for. I think if you ask the average non-fan on the street what they know about WW, I can't imagine anyone's response would be "she killed that one guy" My last statement on the topic of whether or not the Aslume stuff is acceptable on the forum is that the mods seem to be fine with it, and regardless of how certain people take it, it's not insulting anyone. Anyone can have a negative response to anything, but people calling batman and jokler man and jonkler in a public forum that's got a lot of jokes is not bullying or harassment.
-
Turtle doesn't make Aslume jokes, though. Which is actually really strange, come to think of it. Detective Chimp wave when? Detective chimp mech ($14.99), Detective Chimpmobile microfighter ($9.99), Detective chimp battle pack ($19.99), Detective Chimp construction figure ($29.99), Detective Chimpcopter ($39.99), Detective Chimpmobile ($59.99), Detective Chimp Statue ($99.99), Modular Detective Chimp's office ($229.99), UCS detective chimp ($999.99) That's fair- I once heard someone say that Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman are Justice, Hope, and Love. And you're right that she is very compassionate. But at the same time, she is a warrior. When she needs to, she'll kill. I don't think it's so much that she kills more than she should, but she's a warrior, and she kills when necessary.

Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Unless it's the same number, I kind of doubt it. If lego did decide for whatever reason to remove certain figures from that set, they've shown they're fine just releasing it with other figs. As-is, I'm assuming this is just a previously unknown set- it's not difficult to imagine a brickheadz pack flying under the radar. A falcon mech and a winter soldier mech could both be fun (wings and sort of a hermit crab style big arm), and I'd also love to see marvel mechs like the recent X-wing mech. (Star lord in a milano mech, black widow in a quinjet mech, cyclops in an X-jet, etc) -
This might be the single greatest post on this thread. (But actually, this is a really neat way of handling the suggestion. Keeping the joke in swing while also preventing it from spreading further than neccesary. Sorry- I meant out of the trinity. The Space-based heroes usually kill more. If you're getting something out of that first part, legitimately good for you, but I want to make sure you do know that being called stupid is one of the main jokes in the aslume stuff, so it's not really going to impact clonecommando. I know this has come up before, but I'll repeat it again, these are jokes, and they aren't meant at anyone's expense. This is the internet. People are going to make jokes, and these aren't mean spirited. They're not insulting anyone. I've been saying for awhile that a somewhat likely scenario is we just get a comic-based batmobile with superman and/or lex thrown in, but not only does that exceed the three figure maximum for batmobiles, we haven't gotten a non-gimmick comic set since what, 2020 or 21? I think you might be on to something! IIRC Maxwell Lord told her it was the only way to un-mind-control superman, right? I feel like at least in the heat of the moment that's a pretty rational reaction to one of your best friends trying to murder everyone and the guy who made him like that actively telling you it's the only way. Though the wider thing is fair, and while I haven't read her Tom King run, if it's anything like his other runs I'm not surprised. Look man I'm not a fan of the Acolyte either but the show didn't even get sets. And if it had, it'd be sandwiched between all the sets based on other stuff you and me like. Lego Star Wars is fine. It gets a lot of sets and that's not going to stop anytime soon.

Overall that'd be fun, but since the two last mechs we got were War Machine and Venom, I'd be OK with them not remaking them so soon. -

I was offput at first, but am coming around to it. It clearly isn't a completely accurate G1 bee, and I still think there were solutions to make the shoulders a bit less bulky (Transfer the kibble to the backpack), but it is a pretty solid representation overall. Exactly! Either he's $7-800 and missing some aspect of his transformation, or he's $200 and just a statue. Either way, I'd much rather have Megs, the Waves, and the Seekers first. I'd love it, provided they don't replace the mainline sets. I think a diorama battle of autobot city would be fun, or midi-scale sets of the Arc and Nemesis with their main crews. -
LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
As I've said before, while these don't bother me too much, I really think people need to understand why lego does remakes. We aren't the primary consumers of lego, it's kids. Hence why lego tries to keep falcons, X-wings, and TIEs on shelves more or less constantly. If the option is I lose out on my Kino Loy Breakout set so kids can have a new X-wing, or my Haulcraft doesn't come out because the Falcon needs to be availible, yeah, that makes sense. -

Mandalorianknight replied to NoOneOfImportance's topic in LEGO Licensed
I really do think they'll make Megatron. His G1 bot mode is pretty easy to make into a tank, and they should be able to make it look "cybertronian" enough to not explicitly resemble real-world tanks. I feel like this is at least in the ballpark of what lego would find acceptable. -

Mandalorianknight replied to NoOneOfImportance's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yeah, I've warmed a bit to it since then. Still not a fan of the shoulders, but I like the rest of it. Plus, I can't stay mad at that face print! The fact that they seemingly prioritized the alt-mode makes me wonder if this is going to be a licensed Beetle. 99% of transformers prioritize robot mode unless they're licensed vehicles, so it would fit. I think that's moreso just on the sheer quantity of products both companies release. There's bound to be some overlap. This is especially true with Optimus and Bee, where we get some form of them almost every year. We had G1 Optimuses from Hasbro in 2022, but I don't think that's why they chose to do him first. Overall I just really can't see Hasbro wanting lego to make a G1 Devy next year. Putting aside all the issues with a potential lego Devy (It wouldn't be able to transform, which is kind of the whole point, plus all the more iconic characters we'd need first like Soundwave or Grimlock), I think there would be competition between the two models. For most transformers it's fine. Someone who buys a $170 Optimus is probably not going to then skip the year's Core Class or Voyager. A $90 bee isn't really competing with the $25 SS86 one. But both Devys would be multiple hundreds of dollars, and I think at that point a lot people are going to choose one or the other. Much easier to skip that risk and do Soundwave or a cybertronian tank Megs. Totally agree about the shoulders/upper arms. The chest does look a little wonky, but it's 8 wide, which I think fits with Optimus's 12 wide. I hope that face print doesn't get too expensive, because I am ALREADY getting a parts list ready for Cliffjumper.
