LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
"I don't care what you believe, I believe!" Namely, that last year's May and March waves had more sets+ included standard system sets. Not that that's a gurantee- after all, 2024 was the smallest January wave in ages and 2025's seems mid-sized- but I'd refer you to my first statement. Plus there's no way they're doing Jango and Bo-Katan helmets in the same wave. That HAS to be a leaker getting them confused. As for the march set we do know about, on the one hand, Chopper. On the other, buildable. Are people buying this many? I always assumed the main market for these was non-AFOL adults who wanted a few lego sets around their home or office. They're putting out so many these past few years, especially in the first few months of 2025 alone, that it feels like they're oversaturating their market. -
A second wave of my hypothetical transformers line, but the reason I'm here to post is like I've said before, lego's made at least one set for just about every IP I'd want lego to make. Well, I've got a new one. I just finished the first TPB of Void Rivals, and holy cow, I think I'm gonna start an Ideas set immediately! Such a cool new story, something within the Transformers universe and yet concretely it's own thing. But yeah, like I said, here's a hypothetical second wave for mainline lego transformers: Polybag: 6-in-1 Megatron (Robot, Gun, Tank, Cybertronian Jet, earth bomber, helicopter) ($4.99) Buzzsaw and Ratbat ($9.99) Arcee ($22.99) Wheeljack ($29.99) Constructicon Scrapper ($34.99) Ratchet ($36.99) Constructicon Long Haul ($44.99) Shockwave ($44.99) Elita-One vs Skywarp ($64.99) Jetfire ($79.99) Buildable Optimus Prime head ($79.99) UCS The Nemesis ($299.99): Giant buildable Nemesis (doesn't transform) with microscale seeker jet builds. Comes with minifigures of Shockwave, Soundwave, Skywarp, and Thundercracker.

That's fine, but we did get an actual purple rescue. Not bad to get a navy blue one now. "Red and Yellow Red and Yellow Red and Yellow Red and Yellow" -

Yeah- we might not get new characters so to speak, but we've got a good chance at suits people have been asking for since the movie came out. I'd also love a navy blue Rescue. I just don't see that suit as purple in the movie. To be fair, it's the climax of one of the single biggest movies ever made. It's pretty much always going to sell, so it's pretty much always going to get sets. -

EXACTLY. Kids aren't going "I want a deadpool figure because I found his connection to Logan's story to be very thought provoking". They're going "haha this guy is a superhero but he makes a lot of crazy jokes in the stuff I've seen him in, and he has a cool suit and swords and guns." -

Would a horror movie villain have outpreformed star wars at one of it's most hyped-up points in it's entire lifespan? I think you may be the one missing a distinction there. I think it's a pretty inapplicable anecdote anyway. For one thing, it's not like kids these days don't buy horror-related stuff- shelves by the lego/transformers/hasbro aisle have had large amounts of Five Nights at Freddies merch, or other horror things like something called poppy playtime. Now that's different than Freddy Krueger. But so is deadpool. He's a superhero. He makes constant jokes and has guns and swords and stuff. Kids might not know that he hates himself, or that his power comes from experiments in a horrific program, or that he suffers from cancer. But they sure as hell see funny joke superhero with cool weapons in games, in other merch, in ads, etc. It's more likely they make a movie-esque design because they can get away with slipping him into an unrelated set a lot easier and just claim it's a generic wolverine, but I'd still call that a long shot, and there certainly won't be anything officially based on the film. Which is a shame- a Wolverine with the cowl up in navy blue instead of black would be a great addition to an oscorp modular. -

Yeah, that's pretty bad. I haven't hated the pupilless eyes yet, but this has to be the worst one so far. -

Some guys STILL trying to ice skate uphill, even when it's clear lego deadpool won't happen. Yeah I mean it's not the godfather, but it's not like the MCU tends to be known for incredible plot. (Though I'd take this plot over most of the post-Endgame stuff) I think Wolverine has a nice character arc. I'm working at a summer camp/class- trust me, kids know who deadpool is. Picking this out of your comment because I think it is a really important distinction that a lot of people don't get. -

I'm bringing this up next time I hear people saying that we're totally getting lego deadpool. Loved Deadpool and Wolverine. LFG. Clapped uncontrollably for (not phrased as a spoiler but just in case-) , and I don't clap often unless it's the end of the movie. last time I did was the three spideys moment. But that said, not only do I get why we didn't get sets, I don't think we should. I wouldn't want a kid watching this movie- I mean, they have to drop somewhere in the realm of 100 F-bombs, half of them in the context of parts lego minifigs don't have, and even if the set was marketed as 18+, lego IS a toy brand at the end of the day. -

I was about to say that we've had Hugh Jackman Wolverine before. We haven't, I just apparently believe the "hugh is wolverine" thing to the extent that I thought the existing Wolvie figures were somehow based on Hugh. -
If kids want small and reasonably affordable cars, wouldn't they just buy non-lego toy cars? If they want small and reasonably affordable star wars ships, wouldn't they just buy the non-lego ones? Etc. Generally speaking, people don't buy lego sets because it's the only way to get toys for the IP. They do it because it's a lego version of said IP. Plus, there's clearly some appeal for transformers specifically, given Kre-o, hasbro's own bionicle knockoff figures, and arguably even some of these relatively cheap sort of blind bag model kits that snap together easily.

This is an excellent point- the high end of the estimated prices for this set has 100 more parts and what's assumably significantly more figures than the ahsoka fighter. What's going on? -
LEGO Fortnite 2024 and on - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to BrickBob Studpants's topic in LEGO Licensed
I was going to jokingly say it's a red kyber crystal but that's technically possible in-universe. At this point i've moved from "lego is trying to get into the adult market and doesn't think they buy minifigure sets" to "Lego knows adults buy minifigure sets and is using this as an excuse to scrape some money by not producing as many minifigs" Anyway, yeah, lego fortnite. Can't wait to get a set where invincible and omni-man fight peter griffin. -

Can we make them canon at this point? They've had 2 and 3 lego versions, respectively. I don't think any lego-created designs have had multiple sets before, excluding thinks like Jek's E-wing getting the SDCC version. I agree, hoping it's easy to mod to fit 4 again. People aren't saying it's difficult to obtain stormies secondhand, that's not why they want the pack. -

If they do, it's proof that they're grifters- if they're so concerned about the 2019- stormie helmets, why army-build those bad designs? 100% agree. This is a great set for kids. It's on MY Christmas list. But the accessory packs have TINY builds. These are significantly more substantial, moreso than builds for $20 battle packs tend to be. (And the tantive IV was $55- is the slightly larger build + a minifig instead of an astromech worth $20?) I would argue nostalgia isn't clouding my judgement too much, nor that it's unreasonable to see this as worth $40, and as I said, I also don't think $45 would be a good price. -

Actually, I think the N-1 was even slightly more egregious at like $16 or something. I'd be pretty ticked at a $16 Rex microfighter as it wouldn't even have the excuse of a second "figure" with grogu. To be fair to lego, $30 was never going to happen. Even my $35 thing is a little optimistic- while it's two figures down from battle packs, those are bigger builds than a BP would get. $40 seems like about what lego would do for this. $45 would be too far for me to get multiples, though. (I'll buy one of these even if it's overpriced. They're 100% getting me. The sentimental value on this is too much and it's less likely to go on sale being an exclusive) -

I hadn't picked up on that, but it's a really neat detail. To be fair- and though I do think this is overpriced at $45- the clones vs droids pack had significantly less substantial builds than the other one. It's very nice, only qualms are exactly what yours are. Shadow Trooper and Rebel Friend + price. (Oh, also the fact that the vehicles fit only 3 each, instead of the 4 and 5 of the 2008 speeder and dropship respectively) Though, and I'm going to be SUPER pedantic here, the Rex microfighter is $13. I know it's not a huge difference, but with the sets that small and the attempt with the N-1 to make them more expensive, I think $13 is a fair price, but $15 is excessive. That's fair- we assume it'll at least be enough to crew the starfighter in terms of number of figs, if not who they are, as the bare minimum, and lego certainly hasn't been generous with figs in most sets recently. -
Ongoing Transformers Rumors and Discussion

Same here- from what I've heard, it's not going to be saved until the very end, so I'm excited to see it. I'd second a request to see some pictures of the issue. My bumblebee's been delayed until the 27th :/. I need to keep in mind that it's not the set's fault it's taking so long to arrive, because otherwise my opinions on it will not be great. -

I mean, no one's arguing it's not super duper likely, but I think it's not accurate to act as if there's no way we'd get four figures and an astromech. I could easily say something like "The 2021 X-wing was only $50 and had three figures and an astromech, so it's not unreasonable that a $70 set would have one more figure.", or bring up that if we're implying lego starfighters under $70 never get more than 4 figures or 3 figs and an astromech (Because if it's any sets under $70, we get many sets with more than 4 figs), we should also bring up all those fighters are single-seaters, whereas the ARC-170 seats 3 minifigs. My point is the patterns we draw as fans don't always correlate to what lego actually thinks, and it's just as easy to draw patterns implying other things. I'm not saying that this means we're getting 4+ figs or even that it's more likely than the 3+astromech, but I'm saying I don't think you can really rule it out. This new S@H exclusive could be one of my favorite sets, depending on the price. It's remakes of two of my favorite older LSW sets, with the rebel combat speeder in particular being a beautiful update. The dropship also looks nice- I like the sort of bird-of-prey look the canopy's going for- but I don't like that it appears to now only seat 2 troopers in the back rather than 4. If this set is less than $40, it'll be an incredible one, and I'll buy at least 2-3 copies, probably even one to keep boxed for sentimental reasons. At $40, I'd be a little disappointed- for the same price as 2 battle packs, I'd have preferred 8 minifigs, but to be fair the builds are a little chonkier than standard BP ones, but probably still get two copies. Anything more, and it's one copy max until if/when there's a sale. Also, since it's QT-KT, not R2-KT, I am gonna say this needed to be Rebel Friend. This was by far the best possible set to include him in. -

Same. I get from why a set perspective, they would want a more "exciting" character like a jedi, but for a $70 set, they should at least give us the full complement of the starfighter. -
Yeah I mean I don't think I put enough of a point on it in my comments earlier, since I think it may indicate lower chances of film tie-ins for superman, but either way, getting a non-batman set is a MASSIVE win for lego DC. One of the most important things that can happen for this theme's continued survival is for it to prove it can be successful beyond batman. Not enough keywords. Maybe LEGO® 76302 DC Comics™ Super-Heroes Superman™ in Kryptonian Mech Armor vs. Lex Luthor™ with Kryptonite™ blaster (stud shooter).
