LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'm sure there were, but the AT-AT felt a lot more worth it to me at least. It's MASSIVE. You also have to remember that before the price increases, it's PPP was 11.8, which is what I bought it at. Not that there's a massive difference there, but it is a difference. Exactly. I've said this a few times over the past two years, but my lego purchases have gone WAY down. The legos I do buy tend to be the smaller sets, too. I don't think this is the case. On this page alone you've got multiple people talking about how much they've cut back on their lego purchases. And while I can't speak for @BacktoBricks, my cutback wasn't from me buying knockoff lego or 3P, I just... don't buy as many plastic bricks as I used to. Lego can lose sales for reasons beyond 3P's muscling in. -
Ongoing Transformers Rumors and Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to NoOneOfImportance's topic in LEGO Licensed
Optimus has been doing great, as evidenced by the fact he's still selling after two full years. Of course he's hitting offers and discounts now given how long he's been out, but he's been very popular. I do think significantly smaller transformers are possible. I don't think it could be pulled off at, say, speed champions scale, but I could see a $40-50 optimus. Transformers One is without a doubt the single greatest transformers film of all time and one of the best animated films I've ever seen. A year or so ago I said I wouldn't want transformers one sets as the concept of the film sounded dumb to me, I could never have been more wrong. I would LOVE sets for this film, even if it was, like, construction figure style figures of their pre-transforming versions. -
Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

I want them to include both that and the photo from that one meme where the picture he's holding is just his face from the frame where he's holding said picture. -
Last time people started complaining about an unnecessary change made to Penguin in a tv show, it ended with the downfull of the turtle. I am eager to see what major Aslume event occurs here. Though I guess it's pretty clear, we've spoiled the ending of the show, Oswald will clearly be getting elected Mayor by the end. hahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahaha The chosen one.

Wooo, yeah baby, that's what I've been waiting for, that's what it's all about... Honestly it makes sense, it has been awhile since the last wide-release falcon polybag, it's one of the most iconic ships, etc. -
Possible Misprint? Yoda Minifigure with Closed Eyes

Soon, sooooooon. In all seriousness that is probably just a yoda head with the paint worn off. -

Unlike Slave One, which is just the name of an inanimate object and in-universe was part of a whole thing about Jango and his freedom, not wanting to call slave leia slave leia makes sense to me. When you've got the word there combined with the figure being so scantily clad, if a parent isn't a star wars fan that definitely does not give off the right impression about what Jabba's up to. EXACTY. I'd love to see more. Oooh, is that the one with the mudhorn signet? Does it combine with the buildable Mandalorian's™️ Right Shoulder™️ set? I'll give you Kithaba, he really does look much better. Honestly Leia's a sidegrade. I think given lego's printing abilities the dual molded legs are fine, but I don't think you can call it a unilateral upgrade given it is technically less accurate. I think most of the figure compatible ones tend to have more than two nowadays. It's only the may ones, which are rarely figure scale/compatible, and the giant ships without interiors that get the 1-2 figs. The thing about this is I really don't think the Barge should be counting as a UCS set, I feel it's much more like an MBS set. It's not like the AT-AT or Falcon, I don't think nearly as many people love the design of the barge, I think it's more the scene being represented, and with so few figures, I don't think it represents it well, putting aside the $80 DLC set. Parralax controls the price of lego sets? $35 is a godsend and pretty much a direct fix for what I was saying yesterday. It's only one set of course, but if you keep pumping these out, I'll keep buying them. This is an immediate two copies with another one or two around christmas and who knows how many more. Aw man, 35 euros in europe is $40 in the US, according to lego. Not a terrible price by any means but I got my hopes up for $35. One day one, one around christmas, probably another one or two over the proceeding years if it hits a sale. It really needed the MBS level of figs, because I don't think people really want a UCS sail barge just for the design of the barge itself. It, like the locations, relies on figures to pop, and it just doesn't have enough. -
[REVIEW] 71428 Yoshis' Egg-cellent Forest
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I liked this review- I feel like the vast majority of people who read set reviews probably aren't playing the lego mario AR... game? I've never understood what exactly it is besides mario making noises when he scans barcodes. And regardless, it's not like those don't exist elsewhere on the internet. You're not obligated to tell people what the little tile doe to review the set. I've been wanting to see more of these small $10-ish sets that aren't purely gimmicks or battle packs (agree to disagree on this being a yoshi pack- it needs 4 figures, this is my ironclad argument. The 2021/2 star wars blister BPs are the exception that proves the rule), and this is a very nice little set. I'm not a huge mario guy, so even at this price I'd need a green yoshi to pick it up, but for people who are fans, this seems like a very fun set. -
General Star Wars Discussion and Questions

Unfortunately, that just appears to be his 2013 hair with some shading on it. The figure overall has the 2013 figure's printing, too. -

Sail barge looks nice. Leia has shorts because it's an easy way to skirt (haha) the controversy and it avoids flesh poking through when you turn her legs. $500 seems like a lot, it needed an MBS level of figures. Honestly, and the barge isn't really part of this, I feel burnt out. Can we get some cheap sets that aren't gimmicks again? Every time I think about this theme I come back to the fact that there's a $45 Jedi Starfighter coming in January and it's the cheapest non-4+ set of the HY to our knowledge. -
(Absolute Joker is a successful comedian despite the unfortunate chemical accident that happened to him while he was filming his action movie series Red Hood. He's not remotely villanous, but Ab-bat doesn't realize his stand-up material is joking and thinks he's confessing to criminal activity on regular, televised basis)
-
Correct. He's a Mandalorian who really likes Suits, Better Call Saul, etc. Non-Absolute Mandalorianknight actually doesn't mind Rey. She's not the most dynamic character ever, but she's cool enough, and she works well as a jedi protagonist. I don't mind most of the sequel characters/characterization (besides Rose deciding to prevent Finn from having a character arc), it's really the plot choices that get me. Same with legends, to be honest (well, more ambivalent than apathetic). Nothing canon has topped the Thrawn Trilogy in terms of space opera, but I understood the need to wipe the slate clean (especially considering some of the weirder legends stuff out there) and don't have anything against canon. Also known as the Absolute Batmobile. Just kidding of course, the Absolute Batmobile is a forklift that Ab-Batman has duct-taped bricks to the prongs of, despite the fact that it doesn't really make the forklift any more dangerous.

The trailers so far have been so on the pulse of the lego star wars in jokes that I wouldn't be surprised if they said something like "look at all that chrome, would cost a fortune to mass produce" -
Bam, THAT's your aslume identity. ISB Venom Horse. Or maybe Venomized Kallus. At least come up with an ACCURATE blaspheme- Mara and Luke weren't in a relationship or even flirtatious for the entire trilogy that introduced her, the one in which she's a major character- and while I can't confirm this, I would doubt Zahn sees himself as Mara Jade. "Luke's wife" really isn't her defining character trait, at least not with her creator- in most of his books where she's a major character she and Luke aren't together. The Thrawn Trilogy, Allegiance duology, etc. Turtle is neither angel nor demon, neither hero nor villain. He was, is, and always will be an agent of chaos. Turtle was the true Jonkler.

I know it'll never happen because I feel like at $30 they're probably breaking even on that set sales-wise, but if it's $30 I will purchase at least 4 copies over the course of it's run. Otherwise: $35: probably still get 4 copies- $35 is about what I think it should cost. $37.99 (this is kind of what I think it'll be, might be slightly optimistic): three copies $40: two copies, but only one at first, crossing my fingers for a sale $45: one copy a few months after release This is a set idea I've wanted for forever. I think literally since 2010 when I saw pictures of the scout speeder in the visual dictionary, it just stuck with me for some reason. It turned out OK (I would have liked Rebel Friend and a Shadow Trooper instead of QT-KT, and the dropship doesn't feel like a significant upgrade over the 2019 model), so pricing is going to matter to me a fair bit here. "Price inflation is a disease that thrives in darkness. It is never more alive than when we sleep. It's easy for the people who weren't going to buy it anyway to tell you to boycott, and maybe it's true, maybe boycotting it is useless. Perhaps it's too late. But I'll tell you this- if I could do it all again, I'd wake up early, and be boycotting these increases from the start." I dunno honestly if it's $40 or under I'll probably still get two, even though I think it should be $35, but I just wanted to roll through with the Maarva quote. -
At first I thought this was a reference to the Batman fancasting but man would he actually work really well for Kallus. I do think Mara's being used too frequently in this thread, but I do think taking an (apparently somehow) controversial character that's not even canon and forming a quasi-religious following around her is very in-line with the aslume. But like I said, I do think we're overusing it too much. The Emperor's Hand understands discretion, so unless it's gonna be someone's Dummy Disciple level bit, I agree it's gotta be used more sparingly. Turtle is Failsafe confirmed. Now we know why he hates superman. (Just kidding, it's because superman can fly.) (like a bee) My favorite X-man. Ah, who am I kidding, it's Cyclops. Or Gambit.
-
She's not really a glup shitto, but I agree it doesn't make sense for this forum. too easy, Batman's kidnapped something like 10 kids by my count. Swordy's got to put out at LEAST those numbers. Or fund the league. One of the two (I'll take my paycheck in legos, of course.) Or throw a brick at some bald guy trying to steal a large number of cakes.
-
I will burn this planet to the ground before I spend another MINUTE living amongst these buildable figures! I think so- it looks great! As Renny said, no one man can absorb the power of the dummy, I like his explanation. You can't be 8-ball, because Moon Knight shoves him in an industrial car shredder, but you need a ...hero? is that what we're doing? name. Absolutely correct, because the Absolute characters are very different from their real equivalents.
-
Love it. If anything, the only thing I'd do is add some black in the white areas. So so far we have Green Lantern Clone Commando, ... Moondalorian Knight? Concord Dawn Knight? Protectorate Knight?, and Renny the Demo Dummy Disciple. Our roster's looking good. Gargoyles do look nice, though I agree with the others that they're a bit cutesy and small for Batman. Interesting set choice though, those... dolls? Whatever this new construction figure idea is weirds me out.
-
"In brightest day, in grainiest light, no leaks shall escape my sight. Let those who worship batman's might, beware my power- clonecommando's light!" Are we putting together an alliance? A League? Do we get to revive Henry Cavill? As you're our resident Demo Dummy Docent, I have to ask what the quote means. Taking it at face value, it implies Demo Dummy does not play the slide whistle. However, it could be interpreted as Demo Dummy DOES play the slide whistle and simply wants to not be disturbed while doing so. This goes against his truthful nature, but fits other elements of his character. ("Other elements of his character" being that I think it's funnier if he plays the slide whistle.) I don't think he gets enough credit for letting us do this despite how much harder it has to make moderating this place.

I agree in general, but I do miss how we used to get waves with a central theme, such as a specific battle. There's enough content now that that's harder to do, but I think a wave with 3-4 sets each from a specific battle could be a lot of fun. Non-human rebels work and we need more of them, but the Fleet Troopers are mainly Alderaanian, and from what we know they're mainly human. I believe one of the battlefronts gave us non-human fleet troopers so I wouldn't be super opposed, but for a battle pack style set I'd prefer human ones. -
What's your recent LEGO Star Wars Purchase?
Mandalorianknight replied to KimT's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Man I wish I could move to NH. Hear there's a bit of a *ahem* kyber crystal problem there, but honestly you get that everywhere nowadays. It's certainly an issue where I live. Would you reccomend the Sarlacc set? I really like how it looks, but even with the giant sarlacc pit, when it came down to it I just couldn't bring myself to pull that $80 trigger. You didn't get recognized for this and I feel you need to be. I impulse bought the mandalorian battle pack- they make the most of the part count they're allotted, and I love the inclusion of the clear element. It's also a segment of terrain that feels dynamic and interesting enough as a set while not being some weird non-canon monstrosity like we used to get. Ironically for a battle pack, my least favorite part is the figs- mandos are fine, but we have so many blue ones already. I want some color variety- could we get a pack with two red ones, a white one, and a yellow one, please? Maybe a Pink Sabine in a rebels set? - and I have no attachment to the beskar stormtroopers. I might pick up another pack when it goes on sale for the parts and to continue bulking up my mandalorian clans a bit, but I usually end up getting at least 4 of the $20 BPs over the course of their lifespan and I really just don't feel it with this one. Incredible build decisions, lego, please keep this up for future sets with different figs!
