  1. The trailers so far have been so on the pulse of the lego star wars in jokes that I wouldn't be surprised if they said something like "look at all that chrome, would cost a fortune to mass produce"
  2. Bam, THAT's your aslume identity. ISB Venom Horse. Or maybe Venomized Kallus. At least come up with an ACCURATE blaspheme- Mara and Luke weren't in a relationship or even flirtatious for the entire trilogy that introduced her, the one in which she's a major character- and while I can't confirm this, I would doubt Zahn sees himself as Mara Jade. "Luke's wife" really isn't her defining character trait, at least not with her creator- in most of his books where she's a major character she and Luke aren't together. The Thrawn Trilogy, Allegiance duology, etc. Turtle is neither angel nor demon, neither hero nor villain. He was, is, and always will be an agent of chaos. Turtle was the true Jonkler.
  3. I know it'll never happen because I feel like at $30 they're probably breaking even on that set sales-wise, but if it's $30 I will purchase at least 4 copies over the course of it's run. Otherwise: $35: probably still get 4 copies- $35 is about what I think it should cost. $37.99 (this is kind of what I think it'll be, might be slightly optimistic): three copies $40: two copies, but only one at first, crossing my fingers for a sale $45: one copy a few months after release This is a set idea I've wanted for forever. I think literally since 2010 when I saw pictures of the scout speeder in the visual dictionary, it just stuck with me for some reason. It turned out OK (I would have liked Rebel Friend and a Shadow Trooper instead of QT-KT, and the dropship doesn't feel like a significant upgrade over the 2019 model), so pricing is going to matter to me a fair bit here. "Price inflation is a disease that thrives in darkness. It is never more alive than when we sleep. It's easy for the people who weren't going to buy it anyway to tell you to boycott, and maybe it's true, maybe boycotting it is useless. Perhaps it's too late. But I'll tell you this- if I could do it all again, I'd wake up early, and be boycotting these increases from the start." I dunno honestly if it's $40 or under I'll probably still get two, even though I think it should be $35, but I just wanted to roll through with the Maarva quote.
  4. At first I thought this was a reference to the Batman fancasting but man would he actually work really well for Kallus. I do think Mara's being used too frequently in this thread, but I do think taking an (apparently somehow) controversial character that's not even canon and forming a quasi-religious following around her is very in-line with the aslume. But like I said, I do think we're overusing it too much. The Emperor's Hand understands discretion, so unless it's gonna be someone's Dummy Disciple level bit, I agree it's gotta be used more sparingly. Turtle is Failsafe confirmed. Now we know why he hates superman. (Just kidding, it's because superman can fly.) (like a bee) My favorite X-man. Ah, who am I kidding, it's Cyclops. Or Gambit.
  5. She's not really a glup shitto, but I agree it doesn't make sense for this forum. too easy, Batman's kidnapped something like 10 kids by my count. Swordy's got to put out at LEAST those numbers. Or fund the league. One of the two (I'll take my paycheck in legos, of course.) Or throw a brick at some bald guy trying to steal a large number of cakes.
  6. "We live in a society where Scott Snyder's minecraft skin is better than microsoft's incredibly expensive movie trailer" These are all awesome.
  7. I will burn this planet to the ground before I spend another MINUTE living amongst these buildable figures! I think so- it looks great! As Renny said, no one man can absorb the power of the dummy, I like his explanation. You can't be 8-ball, because Moon Knight shoves him in an industrial car shredder, but you need a ...hero? is that what we're doing? name. Absolutely correct, because the Absolute characters are very different from their real equivalents.
  8. Love it. If anything, the only thing I'd do is add some black in the white areas. So so far we have Green Lantern Clone Commando, ... Moondalorian Knight? Concord Dawn Knight? Protectorate Knight?, and Renny the Demo Dummy Disciple. Our roster's looking good. Gargoyles do look nice, though I agree with the others that they're a bit cutesy and small for Batman. Interesting set choice though, those... dolls? Whatever this new construction figure idea is weirds me out.
  9. "In brightest day, in grainiest light, no leaks shall escape my sight. Let those who worship batman's might, beware my power- clonecommando's light!" Are we putting together an alliance? A League? Do we get to revive Henry Cavill? As you're our resident Demo Dummy Docent, I have to ask what the quote means. Taking it at face value, it implies Demo Dummy does not play the slide whistle. However, it could be interpreted as Demo Dummy DOES play the slide whistle and simply wants to not be disturbed while doing so. This goes against his truthful nature, but fits other elements of his character. ("Other elements of his character" being that I think it's funnier if he plays the slide whistle.) I don't think he gets enough credit for letting us do this despite how much harder it has to make moderating this place.
  10. I agree in general, but I do miss how we used to get waves with a central theme, such as a specific battle. There's enough content now that that's harder to do, but I think a wave with 3-4 sets each from a specific battle could be a lot of fun. Non-human rebels work and we need more of them, but the Fleet Troopers are mainly Alderaanian, and from what we know they're mainly human. I believe one of the battlefronts gave us non-human fleet troopers so I wouldn't be super opposed, but for a battle pack style set I'd prefer human ones.
  11. Man I wish I could move to NH. Hear there's a bit of a *ahem* kyber crystal problem there, but honestly you get that everywhere nowadays. It's certainly an issue where I live. Would you reccomend the Sarlacc set? I really like how it looks, but even with the giant sarlacc pit, when it came down to it I just couldn't bring myself to pull that $80 trigger. You didn't get recognized for this and I feel you need to be. I impulse bought the mandalorian battle pack- they make the most of the part count they're allotted, and I love the inclusion of the clear element. It's also a segment of terrain that feels dynamic and interesting enough as a set while not being some weird non-canon monstrosity like we used to get. Ironically for a battle pack, my least favorite part is the figs- mandos are fine, but we have so many blue ones already. I want some color variety- could we get a pack with two red ones, a white one, and a yellow one, please? Maybe a Pink Sabine in a rebels set? - and I have no attachment to the beskar stormtroopers. I might pick up another pack when it goes on sale for the parts and to continue bulking up my mandalorian clans a bit, but I usually end up getting at least 4 of the $20 BPs over the course of their lifespan and I really just don't feel it with this one. Incredible build decisions, lego, please keep this up for future sets with different figs!
  12. 90% of my rebel fleet troopers use the no-pupil chinstrap head, so honestly I'm fine with whatever they throw in expression wise, but I can see the argument against a named character head. I can't find whatever better images of the set you've found, but your view on the dropship concerns me. They did such a good job in 2019 with that year's update, I'm sad to hear they've dropped the ball this year. I respect that. I can agree with this, but I can't help but think of how much better it'd have been with three full waves of playsets instead of one wave diluted across 1hy and another in august. This year, like you said, had some really incredible ideas, but the volume of system sets just isn't what it used to be.
  13. "Then Rise. Rise and Live Again. As my Fist of Vengence Hand of Judgement. As my Moon Mandalorian Knight." Ah, sorry, blacked out for a second. What's up? Tower of Fate figures? I think we should add Defenestrator and Dogwelder. We can leave out Bueno Excellente, Kyle's been through enough in this set. The pink Hello Kitty Backpack on the back of her torso, right? Man I really hope out there somewhere is an action figure forum currently reacting to their new memeber, plastictortise.
  14. Not only a great turtle-ism, but just straight up something the Joker would demand Lego produce. Clearly now that we've covered (somewhat) '66, TDK trilogy, and the Burton films, the next logical move is a BvS subline. Get ready for the superman bathtub and D2C Grannie's peach tea set. (Though actually, I would love a Batfleck batmobile with him and Cavill Superman) Honestly my guess is 2025 nets us a superman set or two (or nothing besides the mech), and then I'm gonna say a TDKR "the bat" and maybe a playscale comic Batcave if we're lucky.
  15. We get significantly fewer playsets/year than we used to. We get significantly more 18+ sets than we used to. This is really simple. I dunno where you're seeing people saying that we're never going to get playsets again -again, aside from the gentleman who only appears to pop up to say LSW is dying or spoil paz's death-, or that the 18+ sets are specifically replacing super desirable sets, but it's taking the very clear concern most people are expressing to a semi-absurd extreme. You're arguing past the point most people are making.
  16. That was one guy, who's been saying things to that effect for a long time. Most of us are just pointing out that over the last few years lego has shifted a massive amount from playsets to 18+ sets, and that yes, that is concerning for the future of playsets. Not that they're going to go away entirely, but that we're getting significantly less and this is going to significantly limit the options for what gets made. Just bringing in what I see at my local discount stores- The retro kenner figs, a black series wave (off the top of my head it's mainly less "cool" characters/outfits like Tarkin and other "suits", but Palpatine, Dengar, and Cody were there too which surprised me), pretty much the entire TLJ toyline- black series, the force link or whatever it was called, etc, and the YJA temple thing. No legos whatsoever. I will say though, I know this store only brings out new toys either when a similar slot opens or christmas season approaches, so the most recent product they have out right now (aside from the YJA temples, which showed up when they either sold or trashed a Solo Kessel playset) are the Mando S2 retro figures. I know from my walmart and target clearance aisles that this particular discount location will be getting shipments of the lola droid from kenobi come october/november.
  17. So a lot of us prefer the playsets and don't like that the amount released per year is getting so low. No one's saying that they're gone completely, but the number's decreased significantly.
  18. There is a brick rapidly approaching your location. Oh man, an on topic question? Most likely not. None of the january sets, at any rate.
  19. I'm pretty sure Korg got the Korg treatment because he was a minor character in a small set and lego just didn't want to throw that big of a budget at it (and let him fit in the boat/play fortnite on thor's couch) Completely agree
  20. I mean we did just find out that the riddler is robotnik's grandfather, it must be a family catchphrase. Dude that Tarantula joke is DARK. I do like the idea of absolutely nightwing being full on 80s disco nightwing. The childhood drama was he threw (I mean he was like 10, so it went like three feet) a brick at a mugger and accidentally hit his parents instead. He got it from the police saying his parent's killer was a "bad man", and young Bruce tried to confess- but no one would believe that a 10 year old killed his parents with a brick. This is completely unrelated but I'm kind of fine with the more kid friendly stories' version of Talia just having stolen Bruce's DNA to make Damian. Still creepy, but not as horrible (Which helps with the "potentially redeemable Talia" stuff they sometimes like to do with Damian), and since they're never gonna have batman actually be effected by that happening to him. Invincible handles the attack a lot better by really showing us how much it haunts Mark. Whoah. I almost want to pretend I planned that from the start, but no, this is excellent storytelling.
  21. Unfortunately, this mainly helps for seeing AFOL reception to a set. A lot of the 18+ stuff is targeted at more casual fans who don't know about or use brickset. (Also, I never got the appeal of listing the sets you own on brickset.)
  22. Instead of being rich or a detective, Absolute Batman has the superpower of if he hits someone with a brick they "fall asleep". Turtle would be enraged. Bruce is just invincible style brutally mashing a corpse with the rest of the league looking on too scared to intervene. Identity crisis is actually super uncontroversial in this universe because the extent of the story is that batman found out he'd been killing people, somebody instinctively went "nuh uh", and they didn't even have to mindwipe him because he just believed it. That took me back. "He was just method acting as reverse flash" I can't believe Dr. Robotnik runs the court of owls.
  23. I do think these at the very least sold very well a few years ago. Lego managed to really shift the narrative on buying lego as an adult with the 18+ lines, and I know a LOT of people who buy these sorts of sets but view buying the system sets/playsets as weird and kiddie. That said, they've REALLY saturated the market with these. We really are nearing 50% of the sets being 18+ sublines for this theme. That's true- I'd guess because it's essentially just a coat of paint on a canon design and they know people'll recognize "clone trooper" or "stormtrooper" if not the specific legion or variant. That said, I struggle to think of a set that would be made by lego and reasonably include a 501st stormtrooper- it's not like your standard clone you can slot into any given TCW set. The one showing up for like five seconds in a limited series that wasn't exactly a breakout hit over the one that's been a consistent major presence in games and comic run, etc? (and also doesn't require a new mold). That's like saying a Spacetrooper is more likely than a shadow trooper
  24. Are 501st painted Stormtroopers canon still? I'd really like Army Troopers. One of my favorite parts of the Thrawn Trilogy were that stormtroopers were actually strike troops and the grunts were Army Troopers. Agreed. Though honestly at this point I'm ready to let the incinerator trooper go, as cool as his scene in Mando S1 was, I feel like he's barely shown up since. Double Death Troopers also need to happen, though I almost hope it's during a movie line so we've got more chance at a new mold for a partially bitten helmet If we get the Kenobi variant before the JFO/comic ones I AM GOING TO DENMARK. And SW is rapidly approaching the 50/50 ratio of gimmick sets to non-gimmick sets...
  25. They didn't "get away" with echo. The figure was developed before the rating changed. I guarantee you if lego was trying to get away with an R-rated fig, it wouldn't be Echo of all people. (Plus if they really wanted to do the character they could just do her outfit from Hawkeye) Moon Knight was somewhat mature for a TV-14, but TV-14 isn't MA, and it's been pretty clear they draw the line at the American R and MA ratings. Love it, here's mine- admittedly a LOT more on the wishlistly side as I'm not super up to date with this stuff, so it's mainly characters and shows I liked or like the designs from. 1. Loki, God of stories. Comes with a new cloth element, new hair/horn mold, and some transparent green parts representing strands of time. 2. Mobius. (with a Jet Ski advert) 3. Infinity Ultron (with lance) 4. Spider-Man (Friendly Neighborhood, homemade suit if that's still happening) 5. Daredevil (X men '97) with escrima sticks. This isn't very likely but the closest we can get to Netflix Matt. 6. Jubilee (with firework pieces) 7. Oroborus with a small buildable model of the TVA machine 8. Nightcrawler (cutlass) 9. Sam Wilson Cap (the minifigure is actually the mech, with a Sam Cap head underneath) 10. Scarlet Scarab (falcon wing piece) 11. Khonshu (staff) 12. Jake Lockley (gun) I don't really follow this logic. They have the rule for a reason, I can't imagine they were pleased that the rating changed after they'd already developed the figure. I also don't think most companies are in the practices of throwing out rules because they accidentally broke them.
