  1. Minifig hulk will always look weird to me. "Minifigures gently placed in the vicinity of the logo" That entire set borders on comical. What were they going for with the pylons instead of transparent parts? Why bother including Hulk if he was going to be a minifigure if you're going to leave out Hawkeye anyway? Which leaker looked at the hulk and went "yeah, that's Nick Fury if ever I saw him"? No, you saw the dumpster, from about when you entered the theatre to a little before you left it. My thoughts: The X-Mansion is fine. The build looks pretty solid. The figures are kind of lackluster- they wasted a print on cyclop's legs to make the figure look somehow worse than before, Gambit and Jean are going to be peternaturally pale, Bishop should have been Kitty or a villain, etc. I like the X-men, but for the price they're asking this had to be really good, and it's just fine. The airport battle is a definite skip for me- these diorama style sets have been real 50/50. Loved NWH and am eying that AoU set, but wasn't a fan of their endgame debris tower thing and this is looking like another skip. I get what they were going for with the Quinjet, like a forced perspective, but it looks weirdly chibi which clashes with the overall goal of the set as a display piece. The figure selection is also not the best- I'm glad we got as many as we did, but I think BP should have been war machine. The set as a whole also just feels kind of cramped, and the airport battle was very spaced-out, so despite my love of civil war this one's a skip. The marvel logo would have been an excellent $20-40 set of just the logo with, like Kevin Feige or Stan Lee or something. This set is much thicker than it needs to be, which is seemingly to fit in some sort of play feature to have the figures pop out of the logo, which is a really weird choice because no child is buying a marvel logo set to play with. I've also posted before about my dislike of the general lineup- now that Hulk and Widow are confirmed instead of the earlier Fury and Scarlet Witch rumor, it's a little better since they're going for founding avengers, but still. Being just the Marvel logo, and not Marvel Studios, I would have liked to have seen a lineup like: Spider Man, Mr. Fantastic, Wolverine, Daredevil, Captain America. Even for marvel studios, if you aren't going to commit and do the actual founding 6 avengers (Seriously. This set is almost entirely basic bricks. Would hawkeye have really busted up their budget that much?), why not do the big three alongside, like, black panther and spider man or something?
  2. The true founder of the eurobricks aslume. Man can you imagine his reaction to the news of an official lego superman set? please DM me whatever this originally said I have to know. And hell yeah, back in black(tron). (Blacktron is backtron?) (We are so Backtron?). I love that this thread has just turned into unrelated lego news scattered across the aslume.
  3. But I bet you also have either a lot of unused cones or a strangely large Cerean population in your lego collection. I don't mind named characters if they're generally generic-y, like Zev, but the jedi one I was not a fan of. If it had been, like, Bariss's head on Ki-Adi's robes, it would have worked better because it's a more populous alien species with generic robes, but as-is they put in a jedi from a species that's lore is it's on the brink of extinction and a jedi wearing unconventionally colored/textured robes Not that I am at all a fan of the baseplate youtubers, but gatekeeping the concept of army building is WILD. I think I get part of what you're trying to say- you try to do it in a lore accurate fashion, whereas most of the baseplate youtubers are just flexing- but some kid's collection of mixed-phase, mixed-legion clones is just as much army building as someone's hyper lore accurate 501st legion with ancillary staff.
  4. The river in egypt? Won't your lego boxes get all soggy? To "properly convey the scale", the set will include minifig (with short legs) Thing, microfig Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman (putting the F4 members out of scale with eachother) and Human Torch represented as a trans-orange 1x1 cone.
  5. I don't think it would be all that different than the helmet collection already is. Venom, Carnage, not to mention it's not like Spider Man's mask keeps it's shape like a helmet. More importantly, even if it is viewed as his severed head, one of the most famous comic issues of the original marvel run centers around Optimus Prime's severed head. (The one with the iconic "The transformers are all dead" cover featuring Shockwave) Still, I do think a Matrix would be the best 18+ buildable.
  6. To be honest the Hobbit films themselves look artificial. What if instead of Dark Flash he was called Dork Flash and instead of whatever he was in the movie he was the exact same thing? If this is the same thing as what we talked about a page or two ago, it doesn't neccesarily confirm Superman Legacy sets. It could just be that a marketing person at DC was shown the superman mech set. Genius work, gives me hope for the future of the DCEU. Maybe they'll have Kang come in through the multiverse ot It also BOGGLES MY MIND to see how much "but they should still play the character" support there was for Ezra and (to a lesser extent) Johnathan Majors. People try to get actors fired for much smaller things, but then turn around and say our favorite Geneva Convention Speedrunner should keep playing Flash. He's not even a good flash, it's not really remotely like Comic Barry. At least CW Flash was a likeable guy, even if the show, upon rewatch, was really never that good. This comment feels pretty negative overall so I'll add that regardless of whether or not it has specific tie ins or just the mech coming, if superman legacy is a good and popular movie, it really could help revive the theme. Though what we really need is a new Justice League cartoon.
  7. Correct- the target audience of this film seems to be the people who disliked Joker 2019 Actually, maybe moreso those who acted like Joker 2019 was some sort of threat to society. Man I hate it when someone looks CG Given everything else Ezra Miller has done, it is ABSOLUTELY possible "Dark Flash" did this too. Jonicle Mask of Humor was the best one, but I always had a soft spot for the Ledger Returns. Loved it when he turned Robin into a literal Robin.
  8. People found them packed in other sets, just like the RA7 head in the fortnite set! When he found out she was cheating on him with a homocidal octogenarian, his second mutant ability, literally just rogue's, activated and he took Carol's powers from her. What is this chicanery?
  9. I get it, most clones are pretty expensive. Honestly I might pick some up myself, even I didn't realize how good it was when I searched to make sure the prices were still low-ish. My guess is threethings: 1: minifigs are expensive to produce. I'd guess battlepacks, even with their sometimes tiny builds, have a lower profit margin (read in wat tambor voice) than, say the 18+ buildables. 2: with star wars specifically, they might not want to do too many depending on that grey area legal contract stuff everybody always speculates about. If it is as much of a grey area as is sometimes rumored, lego might not want to trigger a closer look into the legalese by pumping legions of battlepacks out. 3: Most importantly, I think, self-competing. If there are 4 rebel battlepacks on shelves at the same time, they're going to start eating into eachother's sales. (I do think we saw this with the clone packs- both 2023 packs are starting to shelfwarm where I am and have hit some pretty nice discounts.)
  10. If superman fails I legitimately think it's possible the brand gets folded into Icons. The only thing that could keep it out is if those 4+ sets are doing well. Black Lantern Clone is the best PFP yet by the way. To be fair, I don't think Frodo much cares for him either. Watch his face at the end when Legolas shows up, it looks like he doesn't remember his name. Man, I didn't get the Ezra Miller joke at first and had a brief hope we were getting a comic batcave including the scene from the button. Morb-heretic detected on terran soil, lethal force engaged.
  11. I wouldn't mind that (though it wouldn't be at the top of my list) - but what I REALLY want from 18+ transformers is a buildable Matrix of Leadership. I honestly am surprised we didn't get one the second they realized G1 Prime was doing well. They love their 18+ buildable and as far as transformers go that's THE relic. Which luckily means a subline is likely- we don't often get one-offs for kids. Here are my theories, in order of how much I want them (All assumably G1/evergreen designs unless otherwise noted) 1: Actual transforming figures at a smaller size. This is unlikely due to how hard it'd be to pull off, even at core class level articulation, but I had to mention it. I feel like a G1 prime might actually be doable. 2: Speed Champions versions of transformers vehicles. Camero Bee from the Bayverse and then a number of the G1 sports cars, whether it's the Lambros, Wheeljack, Mirage, even characters like Prowl/Smokescreen/the streaks. 3: 2-in-1s: I put these below the car-only ones as I feel like at least one of the modes is going to be hampered badly by this, but it's the best way to represent transformers "transforming" at that scale without too much difficulty. 4: Construction figures. I feel like these would be hampered by the excellent Blockees figures, which are only $14 each for pretty excellent beginner-level model kits, but Lego is Lego so I don't think the G1 main cast or Bayverse Bee/Optimus would sell poorly.
  12. But he's such a family friendly character! He's just sad about his pet bunny! You've identified the issue yourself, I think. That was a decade ago, back when there were only 6 movies and one mainstream show. There's a good shot a number of those weren't even necessarily planned for anniversaries. There's so much content now, we don't get as much for anniversaries. Everything from ESB's 40th in 2020 on has gotten a significantly smaller- but still notable- amount of sets. Exactly, it's a marvel reference. It's not a notable character by any means. I 100% get the sentiment as a fellow 212th fan, but honestly the BL prices aren't too bad right now, especially for a star wars character. It's like $6-8, even for groups as large as 10. If we're gonna keep getting clone sets, I wouldn't be opposed to a faction like the 327th or Wolfpack.
  13. That's an insane name but I love CA:CW so I will probably pick it up. Between that and the potential for comic ultron and Anti-Venom this might be the most I've spent on marvel in a single wave since... ever, I guess. I staggered my endgame purchases over a year or so.
  14. And I'd love smokescreen (Either the G1 styled one or Not Rod from TFP - who I love, don't get me wrong, but you can't tell me that he wasn't Hot Rod until Hasbro got worried people might still hate him) or sideswipe, but I'm just not sure they'd sell at bumblebee scale. Speed Champions, though? I can't believe we haven't started getting that. Wheeljack I do think could make it at big scale, he's in that Ratchet/Ironhide/Arcee tier of being right behind Optimus/Bee/Grimlock in terms of iconicity. Though I might be biased since he's my favorite.
  15. Honestly I feel like all the film/show anniversaries have had roughly the same amount of stuff. We know there's an ARC and Plo Koon's fighter coming, so throw in a brickheadz and 1-2 ROTS styled sets in the august wave and we're there. Yeah. I can't wait for our Kenobi wave celebrating five years of the greatest miniseries of all time. Or our Young Jedi Adventures anniversary giving us the first-ever UCS 4+ set. Hey he's a Clone Fan, not a Clone Bro. It is really funny. I've seen big numbers of people who say stuff like "lego hates the prequels because we don't have commander Doom." Commander Doom. Who was in like one scene of one episode in clone wars. We haven't had Doom, the character he homages, in 12 years, for comparison.
  16. yeah, no way it's more expensive than the AT.
  17. ? In the words of Charlie Day, "Awwww, did somebody get addicted to crack?" Tortoise, if you will. The movie felt like they were trying to undo the first one. It was terrible.
  18. I'm not sure sure- I suppose it's possible they do a speed champions set of Mirage's vehicle mode or something as a tie in (Which would be an insane pick over Camero Bee or any of the more popular G1 alt modes) but I don't think people would pay for a $100+ mirage figure, especially compared to Grimlock or one of the major Cons. Devastator is a wild choice for #7 there. I tend to see people say the "big four" of the cons are megs, screamer, and the waves- shockwave as the fourth. Plus I feel like characters like Arcee are more well known. Devastator is awesome, don't get me wrong, but he tends to be more of a grunt (Not to mention in this specific context he'd be just about impossible to pull off in lego form unless he was like $700)
  19. That makes sense, I just always imagined they'd be more automated than that at this point. I swear not only is their QC much worse, but their customer service is a lot worse too- I have a missing or misprinted piece in pretty much every other set I buy. It's insane. At this point if I have a spare in my collection I don't have the energy to contact lego each time- I know, I know, I should- but I did for the Tantive Hallway set because it was especially egregious- misprinted stormtrooper head, and no lightsaber blade, which would have been brutal if I was a kid buying the set. I let lego know about it, basically saying "Hey, I get things happen sometimes, but I've been having significantly more QC issues at the same time that you've been increasing prices.". Their response was to pretty much completely ignore the fact that I was missing pieces and just say "We understand our prices have increased, but that's to keep such a high quality standard" which... what? It feels like an AI trained to respond to any comment about price increases because the majority of my complaint was about their QC and their response was "our prices are high because our QC is good". Exactly.
  20. But the lower portion of cloud city makes it pretty much impossible to have a set up to lego's stability standards, no? And without the spike and "floating" look you lose 90% of what makes cloud city's exterior iconic. Somewhat unrelated and probably too far off topic, but I'd love if the midi scale subline did a microscale cloud city (complete with tiny Falcon, cloud car(s), and some clouds). Can't believe we got R7 in fortnite before lego mara jade. Very excited to finally download the game so I can play as my favorite character, limbless Ahsoka's astromech droid. How does this even happen? I feel like with the way lego does things, if the R7 head made it into a set in place of another element, it feels like we'd hear about a whole batch of battle buses with that issue. I can't figure out how a single one would manage to find it's way into another set's bag, since one is printed and the other isn't.
  21. AWESOME. My guess is this is probably just Transformers One construction figures, which is funny because I posted here about how much I didn't want that when the rumors first came out about a year ago, but now that the film turned out to be so good, I would love that. Though my preference would still be anything that actually transforms, of course. I really do think G1 Optimus could be made with about the same detail- and more articulation- than his G1 figure at more or less Voyager/Leader scale. Same. Honestly I don't know why Bumblebee didn't come with Spike and/or Carly. It would be nice to get more human characters like the G1 Witwickys, Skybound Spike and Carly, Fowler, mech suit Noah, Shia Lebouf and Mark "If I was on that plane things would have gone differently" Wahlberg My fourth favorite N.E.S.T. agent.
  22. If the theme actually returns turtle should be unbanned, even if just to make a single post gloating about how he was right all along.
  23. Archnemesis of spider-ma'am Sure, but I think it's better than not having them. You don't like em, you can just remove them.
  24. Superman Pen Pal is too optimistic, if Soup and Man are both on shelves, who are they going to write to? I was hyped for a Nightwing and Red Hood team up movie, but no, we're not allowed to have anything good. It's a robin origin movie. $10 says they constantly hint at how edgy and dark Jason's going to be, $20 if their method of contrasting Dick and Jason just directly apes Transformers One's dynamic between Orion and D-16. The one where the writer wrote himself into the show in the single creepiest way possible?
  25. How exactly would you fix it? A UCS cloud city exterior with not much of interior? Drastically reducing the size so it's not "giant", and therefore probably knocking it out of the MBS range?
