75292 The Razor Crest – MODs and improvements
Mandalorianknight replied to MAG85's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Alright, here's my cockpit mod. The pictures aren't great, but this mod removes some of the technic skeleton by the cockpit (this does not make it unstable, I made sure to test it) to give more room for the cockpit to fit more figures, and moved the hinge connection of the second half of the cockpit cover with sort of a double hinge that connects back towards the escape pod. This gives much more room in the cockpit, and as an unintentional added bonus the second half of the cockpit can be removed without removing the first half now.- 110 replies

So, a few days ago I finally received my copies of the 501st battle pack. Is it a great set? yes. Is it the greatest set of all time? Definitely not. Here I'll share some minor mods I've made to the BARCs, more major ones to the AT-RTs, and what I did with the leftover parts. BARC MODS: The BARC speeder is hilariously oversized. I didn't try to produce a fully correctly scaled BARC, just to trim it down while keeping the detail and overall shape intact. It only uses parts from the actual build in the set, although it does require use of one of the "extra pieces" included with the set, a 3l bar. Here it is, along with the unaltered BARC: The official barc is to the left, my modded one to the right. It's a few studs shorter, not quite as tall, and significant cuts from the back and the front. AT-RT MODS: The AT-RT is also hilariously oversized, although unlike the barc I was unable to downsize it without using extra parts. The only parts I add are some ball and socket joints due to the fact that the joints in the official AT-RT cannot make a substantially smaller vehicle without removing substantial articulation. As you can see it's a lot smaller. The feet are still a bit oversized, maybe the head too, but I think it looks nice, kind of chibi. As far as stability, it's a bit easier to tip over than the other AT-RT, but it can comfortably be positioned in a wide range of poses without falling over. So here's what one copy of the set gets you with the mods. The side build is more so meant to show the amount of pieces, it's not something I'd want to display, but maybe if you've got some kids they might like it. Here's what two copies get you with the mods. I tried to make something like a 501st version of the clone command center from attack of the clones, it's not really a good build but again it's more so to show the number of parts left over. That's it for the mods, if you've got any mods i'd love to see them, too!

LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

@Classic_Spaceman explains this pretty well, I'd just add too it that there's a precedent for pretty beat-up ships getting repaired in star wars (poes x-wing), the razor crest itself, the millennium falcon oh, wait...not that one . I doubt they'd replace the razor crest with something small enough to be a $30 set, but It's always possible I guess. Complete speculation I've heard that I'm not even sure I believe, but just in case: A figure of that character would be great, though not in that costume of course. -

I believe you are correct, at least on the probe droid front. I've said this before, but for one of the helmets to be a probe droid would be weird, especially since it would just be a probe droid head, or basically just a disk. It makes more sense for that to be the buildable statue and something like royal guard or a snowtrooper to be the final helmet. As for the royal guard, the bust in the image is very primitively made, looking to just be basic bricks, so I doubt it's one of the helmet collection. -

100% agree. Great sets, bonkers secondhand prices on some of the stuff, so the interest is there. They're trying to make up for the set exclusive to the us by putting the figure in a magazine exclusive to europe! This....is the way. -
LEGO Star Wars Helmets 2021 - Rumors and Discussion!
Mandalorianknight replied to JintaiZ's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'm 99% percent sure the probe droid is the buildable droid. It's head would just be a disk, there's no way lego's making that. The scout trooper's lower price makes me think it'll have the flip-top and therefore be hollow, which I think makes sense. The third helmet is probably just another hunter or stormtrooper variant (snowtrooper would be cool), although it'd be nice if it was a rebel pilot helmet or clone trooper helmet, with different pieces to add for different markings/legions. I'm a bit confused as to why these topics are popping up, aren't these just the discussion thread but only for a few sets? -

Only short character in fallen order is Greez, and while he's a funny and meme-able character, I'd go nuts if he shows up in a set but not Cal or the Second Sister. I guess that's a good thing. While the protocol droid and short leg figure were an interesting puzzle, they didn't make much sense for a TIE pilot. Unfortunately it's not that, but I wish. -

Same here, with those specific figures even. I never got a maul until last year or so, too, it felt good to finally get one after it being one of the figures I wanted most as a kid. These new, smaller sets should be really interesting, as I've said if they pull them off well it could be an amazing thing for the theme. Where'd you see this? Maybe it's an ESB set then, and the figures are a TIE pilot, the droid that says "echuta" to c-3po, and an ugnaught? Doesn't make too much sense, but if there's a protocol droid and figure with short legs IDK what else it could be. -
I love this idea, especially the BP for the exclusive clone legion, and the sets based on game modes like ewok hunt and supremacy. I never got why we don't get sets like this, stuff that isn't just from the game, so there's not as much risk as the inferno squad BP, but would still mean something extra to fans of the game. Maybe the larger sets could even have had free skins, like if you bought the yavin set you got a code for the yavin luke skin. Alas, battlefront two had a rocky start, and just as it made it's recovery, DICE pulled the plug. RIP... Mandalorian wave. Microfighters: Razor Crest ($9.99): ep 1-2 mando Gideon's TIE ($9.99): Moff gideon (no cape, no saber) New republic x-wing versus bounty hunter starfighter ($19.99): Comes with Dave filoni's pilot and Xi'an. (hunter starfighter is that ship that looked like cad bane's one in episode 6.) Battle packs: Remnant troopers ($14.99): 2x remnant stormtrooper, incinerator stormtrooper, remnant scout trooper. Comes with a speeder for the scout trooper and a bit of debris. Bounty hunters ($14.99): Comes with Mayfield, the devorian, a trandoshan, and a droid hunter. Build is some debris with a turret and small crate of beskar. Other sets: Mudhorn showdown ($9.99): small set with muddy mando figure and the mudhorn. Swoop bikes ($19.99): Mando and Toro's swoop bikes (accurately sized, not like the rebels set), and some high ground for fennac. Comes with Fennac Shand, Mando (beskar), and toro. Kui'll's hut ($34.99): Kui'll's hut, a small bit of the blurrg pen, and 2 blurrg builds. Comes with Mando (exclusive torso print for when his breastplate is partially removed in episode 2 as he works on it), Kui'll, baby yoda (with pram), and an offworld jawa. Imperial troop transport ($39.99): ITT with 2x death trooper, 2x stormtrooper, Cara Dune and IG-11 on a speeder bike. Gideon's TIE ($89.99): Gideon's TIE outlander with folding wings, a 200-ish piece cantina side build, and an e-web blaster. Comes with Mando (beskar), gideon (darksaber), Greef Carga, stormtrooper, Incinerator stormtrooper, and baby yoda.

Same here. Lack of battle packs is disappointing, but if this new style of cheaper sets is done well and takes off, it'd be great for this theme. Your experience is very different from both mine, that of everyone else I know, and what lego's sales must show. Most 6-12 year olds, at least from the aforementioned experiences, don't discriminate too much between trilogies, and the biggest influence on what specific thing they want is either "cool" figures (boba fett, sith, clones, and stormtrooper variants come to mind), or recent media, like if rogue one is just coming out in theatres they'll be more likely to buy the sets for the new film. -

Apology accepted, captain needa. I assume the mando set will be a normal system scale set. This is legitimately supported by the last wave, especially if you factor in figures and iconicity. Some examples: Grievous starfighter has good size and detail, but a horrendous price. AAT has great figures and is accurately sized, but some details are off and it's pretty expensive. The only set that seems to be pretty good on detail, size and price is the galaxy's edge set, due to how few people know what it is. I agree on both here. People tend to forget that these are meant for kids. It shouldn't set you back $170 to get a TIE and x-wing, like it did this january. The cheaper prices allow more kids to get the sets, which drives up lego's sales. I assume they've done some calculations, or at least figure that the cheaper price will translate into more sales. I doubt it, these leakers have been accurate so far. As someone who got the razor crest, I'd go for it even if there's other ways to get baby yoda. This is one set where, at least in my opinion, the build really shines, which is somewhat ironic as that's where most sets should shine but it's somewhat rare nowadays. It's large, detailed, has tons of interior space, and a good price. It also begs to be modded, which some people may not like but I enjoy tinkering with sets like this. -

I've got some mods too, I'll take pictures later but I redid a bit of the skeleton to make the full cockpit area (the light tan plate) fit more figures, added a ladder, changed the spring shooter storage panel to a gun room, made room for a third carbonite (2003 han) in the carbonite storage thing, and switched the seats to black. I'll 100% be using your mod ideas for my copy of the crest, they're great!- 110 replies

Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Oh, sorry I misunderstood. No. Lego plans these sets very far in advance, they wouldn't drop two sets from the schedule just a few months out due to good sales of a related set. Is that...positivity? From a lego fan, about something besides a clone wars set? (insert thanos "impossible" qoute here) I have to be honest I've got to agree with you on all points here. microfighters are fine, and of course another creature microfighter, which like you said have been great so far. We can't really complain about the mando set since we don't know anything. The main complaint here seems to be the lack of prequel sets and the re-releases of the x-wing and TIE. As for the prequel sets, lego's been cautious on those, and there's absolutely no way that they could change the 2021 1hy sets based on 2020 2hy sales. Can we stop this "lego hates the prequels and clone wars" thing, at least until enough time passes for lego to make sets based on the recent sales? C'mon, guys! I'm actually really interested to see the new cheaper versions of iconic vehicles. Lamba is odd but it has been awhile, and the X-wing and TIE are the two most iconic star wars vehicles ever so it makes sense that they're first in this new concept of lego's. I think this is great for kids, as they'll be able to get iconic vehicles without breaking the bank. So we're supposed to get 3 helmets, one of which is cheaper than the others, and a probe droid statue. Probe droid statue is a great idea and I can't believe we didn't have one earlier, it just lends itself so well to a statue. The helmets I've heard rumored are a scout trooper and maybe vader? It'll be interesting to see what they end up being. -

Same. Speeder bikes could work as a small $20-ish set, Kuil's hut with him, mando and a jawa would be great, gideon's tie of course, maybe alongside a side build of the cantina, some sort of escape from navarro set with paz vizla, maybe something with the bounty hunters for episode 6, the list goes on. I mean, it's true... the images are there. I like that idea, makes it sort of a plague-doctor mask almost. -

It's interesting. They don't seem to be 4+, I'm wondering how they plan to do these, I'll be disappointed if they're just smaller. I already have the most recent normal OT TIE, X-wing and lamba anyway so I'll probably just pick up a microfighter or two (depending on the figures) and this "mando hero vehicle". At least my wallet will be able to recover, this way I'll be able to buy the AT-AT and another 501st pack. Could be, or it could be some blurrgs, the speeder bikes, or even that droid cart thing ( *pulls out gun* "DRIVE" ) with some terrain. They didn't really give much detail. We also had a few small sets (basically battle packs) back alongside the 2003 palace, one with the droids, bib, and the door, and one with the carbonite han area, boba fett and some guards. Maybe they could re-do those to avoid this faux-controversy? none of the supposedly mosque-like architecture needs to be shown, and it'd be a great way to get more jabba's palace figures at a lower price. I'm torn on this wave, and I think it'll come down to whether or not the small-scale sets are executed right. No battle packs, while something we knew was coming, is still pretty sad. Microfighters don't seem to be anything special, I might pick up the dual pack since i've liked the creature builds so far and hoth luke is a somewhat elusive figure. I wonder what the unknown one is, probably just a TIE fighter or star destroyer but maybe the figure will be interesting. The $30 mando set is intriguing, but honestly all I want from it is beskar mando and/or moff gideon. Any of the rumored characters would be nice too, we've only gotten one of them in a set recently. The helmets and UCS were predictable, although it's nice to see that the helmets are cheaper this time around. As for the final three sets, they better be done right. Cheaper, smaller scale builds could be great for lego, but if they come off as 4+ style it'll all fall apart. -

I'd been keeping this promo sealed in the hopes it would become valuable someday... time to open it up, i guess. Those were before my time, but when I saw those in the visual dictionary as a kid I was completely unable to understand why they didn't make more of those. This was around the time that they fixed the magnet trick, too. -
Impressive.. If you told me these were leaked figs, I'd 100% believe you if it wasn't for the arm printing (Because we all know lego wouldn't give them arm printing) The detailing is superb, I especially like tech.

The first order general, too. -
compare it to a $100 statue set? The difference goes from the set you want it to be compared to having 16 fewer figures to having 2 fewer figures, and no new molds either. It makes no sense to compare it to yoda, they're completely different. The only ones that really make too much sense to compare it too are cloud city, death star, and hoth, and IMO it's got a pretty good value anyway, with 3187 parts, 21 figures, giant dewback mold, etc for $350. This is more or less my plan. Wait and look for good deals.

This seems about right, although I'd be seriously annoyed if there's another UCS TIE interceptor before a new system one. That's the problem, lego's in a no-win situation here. Sure, the "jabba's palace looks vaguely like a mosque" controversy is a really stupid line of attack, but people have been losing their jobs over a lot less, so lego might not want to risk any bad press. The problem with Oola makes more sense to me, as she's pretty much nude, but she's as essential to a jabba set. I still think slave leia won't be a problem at all if they call it "huttslayer" instead like disney rebranded it as. The problem is, lego risks bad press (of course unwarranted bad press, but bad press nonetheless) if they do these things, and varying degrees of fan outrage if they don't. If we ever get a new jabba set, my money's on it containing huttslayer leia but not oola. I don't think they'd have two tatooine MBS sets in a row anyway, it's more likely the next will be endor themed IMO. Bunker, some of the ewok village, at-st and glider. They could even do the log-smash trap! -
Yup. Not sure why it's being compared to the disney castle, but at a glance the fact that the cantina has 16 more minifigures and a massive dewback mold makes it more worth it than the castle IMO. Not to mention it's got a lot more going on in the set.

Probably not. Reliable leakers like @jdubbs have implied that the march-april wave next year will be like this years and not contain system sets. Ground war wave: Galactic civil war. this one's a bit tougher as there are not many rebel ground vehicles. Microfighters Tx-225 tank ($9.99): tank driver. Luke's landspeeder ($9.99): Farmboy luke (poncho and hat). Snowspeeder versus AT-ST ($19.99): Wedge Antilles and AT-ST driver. Battle packs Rebel commandos ($14.99): 2x rebel commando (sand green coats), 1x rebel commando (tan jacket), ewok scout. Build is a speeder bike and small catapult. Imperial troops ($14.99): 2x stormtrooper, scout trooper, stormtrooper commander. Build is a speeder bike for the scout and a small weapon rack. Other sets: Rebel fleet troopers ($29.99): 3x rebel fleet troopers, 1x rebel captain (like captain antilles), 2 kx-series droids. Build is an updated version of the 2008 battle pack, but scaled up. Imperial trooper transport ($59.99): large ITT with 3 stormtroopers, an imperial officer, and 2 rebels (sullust uniforms) Battle of hoth ($79.99): AT-ST (some minor updates to paneling, and can fit two pilots), Snowspeeder, small bit of hoth terrain with a P-tower. Comes with 2x at-st driver, pilot luke, Dak ralter, 2 snowtroopers and a hoth rebel soldier. Battle for endor ($129.99): large endor bunker, and a 100-200 piece ewok tree/hut side build. Comes with Endor Leia, Endor Han, Rex, R2-D2, Teebo, Wicket, 2x scout trooper, 2x navy trooper, and an imperial officer. AT-ACT ($169.99, due to the relative size compared to the AT-AT, while it wouldn't be correctly scaled to the 2020 set or it'd be like $300, it'd still be a good amount larger): AT-ACT with removable cargo container in middle. Comes with 2x at-act driver, Krennic, 2x death trooper, 2x rebel scarif trooper (endor-style helmet), Baze Malbus, scarif rebel (steel pothat type helmet)

If you want to get the cantina, don't hold back just because you like the prequels too. I bought 5 copies of CW sets in the past month alone, and if I had the cash I'd get the cantina ASAP. Buying the cantina won't make lego not make OT sets. As for the UCS ships, it all depends on what size ship it is. All the smaller sets you mentioned are smaller ships, whereas stuff like the falcon, star destroyer, etc need to be larger to get the right level of detail for a UCS. A falcon at a $200 price point would just be a slighty more overpriced system falcon. I'm pretty sure a 5 year old could figure out palpatine was the bad guy from TPM alone. -

The cantina scene is one of the most iconic scenes in star wars, maybe in even films in general. The dirty, lived-in aesthetic with all these random aliens around made the universe feel more "real" than most sci-fi at the time, which was all super clean and robotic. It makes perfect sense to me that it'd be an MBS.
