  1. Also, a groot mech wouldn't make too much sense, it'd essentially just be adult groot. Yeah, that's a good point. He's one of the few characters where a mech is something totally on-brand.
  2. Jokes aside, @jonwil, your demands might be phrased a bit funny but they are some pretty major marvel figs we haven't gotten yet (well, maybe not the living laser). The X-men and fantastic four were missing due to disney trying to kill merch for those franchises since they didn't own the film rights, but now that they've got them again, I think the wolverine fig is just the beginning.
  3. "You're laughing. This man doesn't have Professor X, Cyclops, Beast, Gambit, Storm, Odin, Thing, Mr Fantastic, Human Torch, Invisible Woman, Silver Surfer, the Marvel Legend Living Laser and Galactus, and you're laughing."
  4. I don't know. My absolute favorite was Scarf Mando, since he's christmasy but the part also works in a non-christmas setting, unlike a lot of the original ones and the newest ones. I tend to buy them on sale after christmas as great part/figure packs, so I think I do prefer exclusives personally, but I think the christmas ones are probably the best choice for an advent calendar for people who use them for their intended purpose. How DARE YOU, sir. Implying ANY lego gonk design is nothing less than the ideal physical form of any being is tantamount to treason. But yeah, I like the design, I think i'll do the same with Gonky. If you were looking at it directly head-on, at eye level, with good lighting, maybe a little bit, but given that the eyes aren't that big a part of the helmet, and the black around it-especially with the "eyebrows" of the helmet above it-would sort of dim it, I don't think so. If they just made the lenses trans-red, you'd essentially have to shine a light directly into his face to really see his eyes (which coincidentally, you can see in the trench run)
  5. Box image of the advent calendar is out! Aside from the Vader stuff we already saw, it's still mostly christmas themed. I see a pretty good Havoc Marauder minimodel, christmas sweater R2 and 3-PO, SANTA GONK, and than an interceptor, at-st, landspeeder, t-16, and moisture vaporator. One thing worries me though...we normally see most of the figures on the box art, and here there's only 3... looking back, some of them have had as few as 4 on the box art so it might not be anything, but most tend to have most of the figures on the box art.
  6. I mean, aside from the fact that they are clearly shown to be red in multiple shots of ANH, and even more obviously red in Rouge One and Rebels, dark red seems perfectly fine for it, which seems to be the shade they use in the box art. Though this would be cool too:
  7. Looks awesome, man! It's been nice seeing this develop even just through the title of the thread changing. You've clearly put a lot of effort into this, and it definately paid off. Now for the otana...
  8. It doesn't change that his lenses do appear red in ANH, and are explicitly red in the newer material like RO and Rebels, whether you like it or not. So it makes sense people would want a vader with red eyes, as it would more accurately represent those versions. But even that doesn't change the fact that lego clearly shows red eyes on the box art, when it's not in the sets. That's something I really don't like.
  9. Nah. Vader has Red eyes in ANH, same way C-3PO has a silver leg. They're gone in ESB and ROTJ, but back in Rebels and RO..and Kenobi, I think. I will join you in laughing. Especially since it's possible inflation will cause that price to INCREASE later, since we know lego is willing to do that. I hate the 2021 slave 1 design, and I'd much prefer it to the duel. At least then the build is something kids would find interesting, and a new Jango in a cheapish set would be great.
  10. The War Machine mech looks like a standard one of these marvel mechs, which is nice for consistency. The Rocket one... it's consistent in style, but it's leagues more imaginative and better than what lego does. Nice job.
  11. I use white, I'd love that too. And they don't even have to recolor parts, 4l blades appear in a frosted trans-clear (white), and transparent orange, yellow, different blues, and a ton of other colors we don't see in Lego Star Wars sets. From some angles it does kinda look like there's a split, so I get it. So yes, it definately could have included more characters than vader and kenobi.
  12. Exactly. It's an accurate recreation of the scene, it's just a terrible scene to do a set for. I think people expected that Lego wouldn't make a set based off that scene, because if that was the "rematch of the century" (I assume there'll be another fight later), I want a refund. We saw concept art back in november of them fighting on rafters above lava, which would have been a much more interesting and dynamic set if that's still happening. And with publicly released concept art that far back, it's not like they were hiding it from lego, either. Fixed it for you . It would be a fun thing to get different BD-1 colors if we got different fallen order sets. Even if they can't change the ponchos or Cal figure itself, including some spare 4ls for different lightsaber colors or having BD-1 be a different color in some sets would be fun. This would be the type of thing that'd work as a polybag promo, with Cal using a different outfit, poncho, lightsaber, and BD-1 skin than the canon ones. That's a bley vulture wing, I think.
  13. I still think Mike the decapitated chicken walker is worse because this at least is a somewhat solid baseplate and has semi-desirable figures. It's certainly the most boring set, though. It is interesting they're doing a set on this, too. That was I think the darkest scene in SW that we SEE. Sure, anakin and the younglings is worse, but it's only implied, not shown. Mustafar, while also shown, is just so stupidly cartoonish and full of bad CGI that it feels more child-friendly than "I chopped off your father's legs and threw him in a volcano" sounds. Another differentiation, before the pirates and castle fans pipe up: Specificity is part of it: You don't see War of the Roses sets, just generic castles. Timing is the other part. Generally I think the Revolutionary War era is about as far as we'll get for time period of military sets. So no, a generic gray tank with some unspecified soldiers wouldn't work either. But anyway, yeah, this is one of the worst sets I've ever seen. I like the idea of a set primarily containing terrain, but this is the worst possible terrain to do. It's literally a flat gray baseplate. There's no interesting complexity in design or visual appeal like an Endor forest, Scarif beach or even a Geonosis rocky outcropping. The figures aren't great either. Vader is a downgrade, and Indria Varma's character doesn't have that costume in that scene (I guess it's nice to get another imperial officer?) Ned is cool I guess. But the figures aren't nearly desirable enough, and the set is waaaay to expensive, to consider getting it just for the figures IMO. With all the big gray slopes, it's also somewhat specific even for a parts pack. And the worst thing is, lego's going to see this fail (because it will) and think playsets don't sell, and we won't get many more location sets. Location sets can be great. But this is not how you make them, and even if you do, this is the worst possible scene to make a location/terrain set for. It's a goddamn gray slab of rock.
  14. I'm not sure what "I hope you enjoy it, have any more?" means, but the moc creator hasn't been on this site in 7 years, so I'm guessing the answer is no.
  15. I can't recall a single instance of a $199.99 USD or above set not being a D2C, regardless of release date (It's possible there's a technic one, as I really don't follow technic, but I can't think of a single system one). It's possible this will be the first, I suppose.
  16. I hope he gets another in season 3, especially since while cool, the N-1 doesn't at all work as a home for Mando and Grogu in the way that the RC did, but I don't think this would be something lego was told far enough in advance to make a UCS set coming out before the season. Like @necrochasm says, the development would have started years ago, before the RC was blown up the first time.
  17. This exactly. Well first off, you've created an entirely hypothetical scenario. We don't know that they've stopped production of the old mold, and I doubt lego's going to end up with a situation where they run out of the old mold but have a ton of the new one just lying around, especially with the rising production costs. (Which also, no, I don't think the holes would make this a cost saving measure. Even in the quantities they produce, that's such a tiny amount of plastic that they aren't going to save a significant amount of money.) They wouldn't make a mistake like that. If this would happen, it'd be intentional, not some sort of accident with "stores of existing mold" running out. In reality, my guess is we'll stop seeing the old mold when the fighter tank retires. Which I suppose is another point. Why produce a fighter tank and release it sort of by itself as the only non-gimmick system set in the wave just 2-3 months before introducing this new mold? And it was a print being applied to new sets as well. If we knew another 501st trooper and another 187th trooper were going to be in sets in the next few years, I'd be changing my tune, but as I highly doubt that (in the 187th case at least, a 501st trooper could probably show up somewhere within the next year or two), I don't think we'll see them create what would essentially be new prints for old sets.
  18. Ah yes, my favorite lego play feature, burying and reanimating a corpse. Actually, that may be why zombie strange looks off. It might be that even in a D2C, lego feels they can't do a "realistic" zombie. I don't know. I think at least having his head be covered in black would be better than completely bald. Maybe they could do what they used to do with some sports guys and paint the top of the head black for hair? Like this guy: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3626bpb0165&idColor=3#T=C&C=3
  19. Exactly what Kdapt-Preacher says. It's not that simple, it requires new print applications. Hence why I used Kanan and Finch as the two examples of exceptions, although I suppose in Kanan's case they were already going to use that new print in the january 2015 sets, so it's really just Finch where a set has retroactively been updated to that extent. This could either turn out really well or really poorly based on how much of a price increase there is. Like, if it's a set that would have a $400 or $450 value if bley, a $130/$80 increase for being metallic silver would seem incredibly overpriced to a majority of people, no matter whether or not recoloring those parts would actually cause that much of an increase in production cost or not. If it's something that would probably be priced at around $500 in bley, then it definately seems like it'd be a good move to make it metallic silver for the 5.6% price increase.
  20. It's totally the razor crest then. Yeah, I suppose. Though even with mandalorian being a massive success, $530 is what, the fifth most expensive star wars set ever? Personally I love the RC but just don't have the money or space for it yet. I know this is something I'm gonna end up buying at like double the price 5 years from now. Maybe a tad bit of an exaggeration, as I'm not sure how not buying the razor crest negates the next two waves of LSW? What if there's a gonk droid statue?
  21. No, yeah, as @The Stud says, the eternals sets sold TERRIBLY. I find them half-off at target all the time (I should probably buy some as bulk bricks at this point, but I just really didn't like that movie). Shang Chi didn't sell particularly well either, but even in those cases, they were MCU sets. The MCU as a whole has a much better reputation than the DCEU, and while kids don't know exactly which is which, they have enough braincells to see "marvel" on the box and know the guys there are friends with spider-man and iron man. I'm not trying to say marvel's better than DC, but it sells a lot better for sure, especially to kids. Black Adam is just Shazam but in a black suit (yes, I know the character has deep lore. The point is visually, he's Shazam but the rock.), and I don't think lego wants to take that risk.
  22. Would it, though? Say what you want about the constant Batman spam, but kids know who he is. Black adam...it's not like avengers or justice league, where the characters were already well-known due to previous films or the comics. 95% of kids wouldn't know a single one of these guys. Heck, I like to consider myself somewhat well-versed in DC lore, and before this movie I knew Black Adam, Dr Fate, and Hawkman, but no idea who cyclone or Sabbac were. I did know Atom-Smasher, but I think it was just from the Flash show, because I thought he was a villain. And sure, once the movie comes out, more kids will know them, but if it doesn't do well, the set's dead in the water. Look at the eternals sets. Lots of characters no kids knew before the movie, and I can find Arisham's shadow half off at target. A set like this would really be just for the hardcore DC fans. If anything, the movie I'm surprised they didn't do sets for is that animated super-pets one. Has Batman, Superman, dogs, aimed at kids, probably has a batmobile somewhere, it seems like it was made in a lab to appeal to ages 6-12.
  23. That spider-man is a nice update, but not nearly enough to get me excited for this sanctum. These other figures are just so lackluster. Smiling, young, bald wong with no leg printing? An Ebony Maw that looks like a human in gray face paint? Zombie Strange from the 2012 monster fighters wave? The build better be pretty dang good, because these figures are turning out to be seriously disappointing. Ebony Maw is a direct downgrade of the figure from the LAST sanctum. Heck, Iron Spider got replaced by the much more common Stark Suit, even if it is a nice upgrade to that suit.
  24. I doubt it, lego doesn't usually do that type of thing. The AT-ST raider and Razor Crest weren't updated with the correct helmet color for mando, for instance. In this case, they'd have to make 3 new prints for that part, when the 501st set should be retiring pretty soon anyway. Finch Dallow and Kanan Jarrus's hair color are the exceptions that proves the rule. That's the best evidence in favor of it being the razor crest so far IMO. If it was the death star or something (Which is what I personally thought it would be), they'd have just said gray. Metallic gray implies something shiny like the razor crest. Although I'm not sure how well a UCS razor crest will do. People LOVE the mandalorian, but given the tragic events of December 4th, 2020, the razor crest isn't quite as prominent anymore.
  25. Looks good, I share the want for a wider visor but given that we've got two/three legions in the 501st style already, I'm just glad for the consistency at this point.
