Wishlist: Future Star Wars Sets and Minifigures
Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Ooo, that's a good option. Somewhat well-known location with a cool aesthetic that doesn't feel like it'd be a set on it's own, with a figure that's somewhat desirable, but again, not enough to "carry" a set. Final list: I also like @Omand's stardust set, but unfortunately I'm already that room in the citadel set. -

Sorry to hear you've been unwell, hope you're feeling better soon. I've altered my list to fit in the geonosian set. Most of these are really good options, I've just run out of space. If I have time to build it, I'll add the V-wing in a new slot, since that one's also especially good. Perfect. That's the vehicle GWP. Well then, brick built space horses it is! Final List (except for the larger GWP with exclusive figure, which is still open): Alright, off to build. -

So we did have 3 UCS/MBS sets last year, so it's not out of the question that it'll be the same this year...but we would have heard something by now, I think. Regardless, like @QuiggoldsPegLeg says, a skipped number doesn't necessarily mean a new set is coming. -

Yup. I'll have the others be OT then, here's the full list now: So that's 6 prequel/TCW sets, 6 OT era sets, 2 sequel sets, and a kenobi/fallen order set. Seems like an alright distrubution. I'll be getting started in like 10 minutes with the microfighters, but I had kind of a cool idea...what would you have as the GWPs for this wave? Say, one vehicle polybag and one set at a $20-30 value range that has an exclusive figure. -

Yeah, that'll be a fun challenge and good to go against the torrent fighter. fortress inquisitorius... hrmm. I'm not sure how well I can execute that. Let me know if what I wrote in the spoiler below doesn't work. Ah, shoot, now we're getting into changing the ones on there already. I see your point, but I don't know that separating the two speeders would work well either, they kind of work in tandem. I do like the idea of adding Orbacks though, I tried to work it in. Like I said above with the inquisitor thing, let me know if you think it strays too far (I mean, in this case it strays pretty far, so I guess it's more like let me know if I massacred your idea too much) Yoda V Dooku is PERFECT though, that's the duel set now. Alright! only 4 sets left, and two of those are microfighters! If anyone's got suggestions for them, great, but there's few enough left that I can fill them in. I'm going to start building tomorrow. I don't know how long it'll take, but I'm hoping I'll finish the wave before I go to college in August. -

Done and Done. I wouldn't be surprised if that Exogol qoute set ends up happening as an official set down the line. 6/14 listed (I added another of my own ideas as well), we're closing in! -
[M4-22 - 12x12 Vignette] – Departing Otoh Gunga
Mandalorianknight replied to Oky's topic in Watto's Junkyard
The way you use parts here is really astonishing. everything from the harry potter wands to the zamor spheres to the sais... there have been some really good submissions, but if I had to put my money on it, this would be the winner for the 12x12 category. I'm guessing those sais and zamors might not be make this the most stable build, but I mean hey, it's not a 6-12 set, it doesn't need to be. -
[M4 - 22 - Purist Minifigures] Galactic Food Service
Mandalorianknight replied to Umbra-Manis's topic in Watto's Junkyard
That's a very fun idea! I wasn't expecting to see a digital purist minifigure submission, but since the parts all exist in those colors, why not? They all feel accurate to their species as well (is that species-ist?). Obviously the klatoonian butcher is something we've seen in canon, but I get the Umbaran chef (cold and calculating, it makes more sense they'd be behind a Michelin star restaurant than, say, a delivery guy). The Weequay obviously works at a Hutt shell restaurant, or perhaps is a waiter at one of their palaces, the sullustan street vendor feels right out of the sullust description from the 2015 battlefront book, and that pizza jawa...of course. I can't explain why that one works, but I feel in my heard that it's a Jawa profession. If this was just member voting (which I totally thought it was for like half the contest, I need to read the instructions better apparently), I think this would definately have my vote. -

Done. You've given me the excuse I need to justify rewatching rogue one for the 478th time. And it will be cool to see how ours compare. I put in the description below how I'm going to try to lay out the set, but I think even if we were planning on doing it the same way, it'll still turn out differently. Updated template with your citadel suggestion. Oh, and no need to be polite with the "could you", I'm begging for some ideas for this. Microfighters, battle packs, anything! I have, like, 2 ideas I could still do, but I'm drawing blanks for most of this stuff. I almost want to @ some of the guys who made idea lists for last year's, but I don't know if that's a breach of internet etiquette to @ people like that, so for now I'll just call upon @ArrowBricks, as I just recently made those 2023 predictions off his post so he's the first one that comes to mind. -

Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Totally agree. I could see a smaller set based on the final fight of Fallen Order like @Yoshifan33 suggests, but not a massive set. The location just isn't that well known. Again, here's the template if anyone wants to try to fill it out with some sets they'd want to see! If you want to see a set designed, let me know! I really do want to get started on making the sets. -

Wicket's head is, the AT-ST Driver's is the one from the hoth AT-ST. Speaking of the AT-ST, there's high quality images out. It's got a lot of sand blue, which is...an interesting choice. It's also $35? I thought it was $30. These price increases are gonna suck. I'm just happy they aren't increasing BD-1 or the galaxy explorer, because I think those are the only two sets I'll be getting at this point. -
For that ship, it's well-deserved. I was struck by inspiration about an hour ago and managed to squeeze out a final, comical entry:
-
I was suddenly struck by inspiration at around 11pm today, so here's the gang! L-R: Darth Revan, Gonk Droid, Rebel Friend, Mustache Rebel, Bat....uh...jedi. Darth Revan: "I was a beloved part of the universe for almost a decade, and some mouse wipes me out? I even have a new game coming out and we STILL don't know if I'm canon!" Lord Gonkius: "gonk" *translation*: "Foolish organics. Refusing to recognize the power of Lord Gonkius is the final mistake they shall make. Peace is a lie, there is only Passion. Through Passion, Gonk gain Strength. Through Strength, Gonk gain Power. Through Power, Gonk gain Victory. Through Victory, Gonk's chains are broken. Lord Gonkius shall conquer all." Rebel Friend: "I'm just happy to be here. I came in through a lego game, and I'm even in the new one! I might not be remembered by as many people as Revan or Katarn, and I might never have been in a serious comic, book, or show, but I'm glad I get to be part of the universe" Moustache rebel: *unfortunately, the comments given were unintelligible due to the muffling caused by his thick facial hair.* Bat...uh...jedi: "How dare they not let me be canon. I'm Bat...That's a copyright infringement? It's me! Alright, well, I'm...bat....uh...jedi." And one final group shot: I just wanted to say, this was a very fun contest. I loved working on my submissions, and seeing the truly great creations people were making everyday for this. I look forewords to the 2023 contest, or maybe even a christmas contest, that could be cool!

I like it! Reminds me of those racing ships from the Resistance show. Seems everyone is doing T and R wings. I think I've seen 3 of each, including mine.

Marvel Superheroes 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I guess it's possible, but the figures chosen are pretty generalist. Spidey and Venom are lego's go-tos for spidey sets, and they've started putting Miles in a lot too. I'd rather have them take bionicle in a completely different form, like a minifigure based thing (though again, having the signature lore would be a must) than to have system-built buildible figures. And the molds wouldn't/shouldn't be too big of an issue. Yeah, each figure generally had 1-2 unique molds for the mask and weapon, but given that it lasted for a solid decade, I think it was popular enough to get past that. The masks were collectible, and it wouldn't be the same if it was just printing on that stupid shoulder armor part (seriously, it's such a weird look on that iron man figure alone). I mean, it allegedly was what saved lego from bankruptcy back in the 2000s (Star Wars was of course, extremely popular as well, but with the liscencing fees they supposedly weren't making as much off it as it would seem), and back then it wasn't CCBS or the inika system, they were doing completely molds for most parts of the body every single wave. Really? That spidey is, besides being a bit too complex like you say, just waaaay to unstable in the knees and feet. (And missing the webbing, but there's no way to get around that at this scale without doing a ton of prints). And even then, I don't think those look particularly good. The forearms are literally rectangles. The venom one's better, (if you notice, I didn't mention him when I said the Spidey and Miles figs would probably look bad), as he benefits from all the black bricks blending together and the fact that he's a symbiote, not just a spandex-laden human, so he can look more monstrous and not have that musculature. But again, it doesn't work for the humans without armor or symbiotes. Sort of like the star wars constraction figures. Most of the troopers and droids were pretty cool and seemed to sell alright (Vader, Grievous, K-2SO, etc), but the humans were awful. -
Marvel Superheroes 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I completely disagree. I'm a pretty big bionicle fan, and although I'm fine with a system ideas set or something, I would be very disappointed by a system reboot of the theme. Bionicle is a constraction/technic theme. They already showed what happened when they cut the lore for G2, if they get rid of constraction as well it'd be bionicle in name only. I think if these are system brick built figures like that iron man, it's nothing but a nail in the coffin for the death of constraction, and therefore, bionicle. But regardless, I think I'd prefer mech double packs, at least they have the potential for new minifigures and will be passable as mechs. I can't imagine the spidey and miles system buildable figures will look good at all. Iron man looked kinda wonky, and even then, he's an armored figure. I have no faith that lego could convincingly pull off a human-in-spandex form at that scale. -
DC Superheroes 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Are we even going to get to WW3? The director's got multiple upcoming films beside that, including Rogue Squadron from star wars (though that seems to be dead in the water now) Either way, to state the obvious, the DCEU is a mess still. "you give me hope... you take it away" -
Marvel Superheroes 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Clearly, it's gonna be: Venom mech triple pack: Venom mech, carnage mech, and Morbius mech (morbius figure not included, venom and carnage re-uses.) Into the spider verse triple pack: Miles mech, Peter B Parker mech, spider-gwen mech. Miles is a re-use, Peter B Parker is just the 2021 spidey with dark tan legs, and gwen is a reuse. Spider-Man triple pack! Pack of three spider-man mechs, with everyone's favorite three spider-man! The 2012 "ultimate" suit, the 2019 "worldwide" suit, and the 2022 "amazing friends" suit! "This..this is what you guys wanted when you said you wanted all three spideys, right?" Yup...gah, why? Giant venom symbiotes can work and be cool, but I can't imagine anyone wants a large brick built non-mech spidey or miles. It's like constraction figures, except without the constraction. It's just large system built action figures, and I don't think that works on characters like spidey and miles, moreso with robots and armored characters. I don't think anybody wants these, and I'm sure it'll be another nail in the coffin of the bionicle concept ever returning if the constraction style is now fully system built. -
[M4-22 - Purist Minifigs] - Force Users
Mandalorianknight replied to Hammerstein NWC's topic in Watto's Junkyard
Wasn't sure whether to comment here or on your empire one, since it'd be mainly the same comment for both: I love the idea of sort of making these exaggerated, hyper-stylized versions of existing characters like Kenobi here, and Vader/Snowtrooper in the empire one. Kenobi especially turned out well, I love the use of the Kili head and old ninjago blade. Sort of looks like a "visions" style figure. Very creative. Overall you've got this nice mix of complete customs that seamlessly fit into their respective roles (the inquisitor and knight), the hyper stylized figures (kenobi) and just objective upgrades (that great ventress figure). I think the inquisitor might be my favorite, he just really fits with the style of the inquisitorius. One minor criticism is that Aayla just seems to be the 2017 figure with the legs swapped out. It's far outweighed by how great the other figures are, though! -
[M4-22 - 12x12 Vignette] Jedi: Fallen Order.

Thank you! I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Solving the 12x12 limit with vertical builds has been a monthlong quest of mine, starting over in the licensed forum when they did one of those contests in may, and I think this solution turned out pretty well. -
Marvel Superheroes 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Didn't someone say the Hulkbuster got delayed? I mean, you never know. Given what happened with Howard Stern (of all people) recently, it's definately possible that BP2 introduces some VERY important characters to the MCU. Though personally I think the sets would be remakes because there just can't be that much from BP2, right? Like, I don't think the first film had 4 full sets of material, and it had, y'know, black panther in them. It's actually an issue I think the movie may have as well. Boseman's death was a tragedy, but I don't think doing a BP movie without T'Challa is going to work, certainly not to the extent of having almost as many sets as Endgame's first wave. -
I wouldn't say low-effort (though I guess you'd be the only person to know), it's actually kind of cool to look at all of them and see how your build style evolves. You've got some really strong ones, too, like the Profundity bridge, death star firing chamber, etc. The mini scarif one is one of my personal favorites as most people have done minifig scale, so it was nice to see a microscale. One of my purist minifigure entries is literally just a TF2 reference I made as a joke for a friend of mine, so if the 2-3 points from that caused me to win I think I'd have to disqualify myself! And at the last second, the K-wing swoops in to take the gold. That thing is absolutely massive, and is pretty spot-on to the legends ship.
-
I'm pretty sure it's the best entry, because otherwise you could spam low-effort entries and just win off having a ton of 4-5/30s. Would work out pretty well for me if it was sum of entries, because my four "meh" entries for purist minifigures would overwhelm other users with just one, actually good purist minifigure entry. Actually didn't you post like 10 12x12 vignettes? Many of those are very strong contenders for 1st place on their own, but if it is the sum you're guaranteed that spot! Also...oh no. I completely forgot about the criteria....I think I have just two entries that tell stories "on their own" without the walls of text I wrote in the descriptions.
