DC Superheroes 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yeah, I really can't see it happening. Wayne Manor along doesn't seem iconic enough, since it has different looks between comics/films/etc. The Hall of Justice (I'm still on my theory that if it's DC, it'll be this) always has that same main entrance in comics, animated films, super friends, etc. And Wayne Manor+ the batcave gets really expensive really fast, since you're doubling the vertical height. Look at the Upside-down set. That's a pretty small house for almost half the cost of this $500 set. -

I'm trying not to respond about it, so I'll just say I'm glad it made people laugh. As someone who bought the AT-AT, I agree that $800 might have been overpriced, but I have to disagree with "If you can spend $800, you can spend $850". Or, well, I suppose I agree with the literal statement, but moreso that I think a lot of people who can spend $850 on the AT-AT wouldn't. I know a lot of people more well-off than I am who don't get stuff they think is overpriced. They might be able to afford it, but if it's overpriced and not worth it to them, they don't just buy it anyway. And either way, I don't think lego is just pushing their luck on pricing, I think it is about inflation (We're closing in on the 10% mark here in the US, wooo!). Depends on what you mean by hearing about them. UCS details and images tend to be kept close to the chest, so I don't think we'll hear much about the crest until a month before or even closer to release. As for the January 2023 wave, I don't know for sure when we'll hear what the sets are, but I'd guess late summer/early fall. We pretty commonly get images around Thanksgiving. (I would say late November, but it is usually literally a day or two before or after thanksgiving. It's a weird coincidence.) Somewhat related, but I miss the codenames. I remember the Rogue One and January 2020 waves specifically, but I'm sure there were others, where the codenames actually hinted at the sets. It was a fun puzzle, but we don't really see that anymore. -
Licensed Lego Ideas - Support & Discussion

HASBRO of all companies worked with lego on optimus prime, so all bets are off at this point. I'm not saying it'll happen, but I'm saying it's not super unlikely. Lego doesn't do anime, generally. Exo-force is a weird blip, but it wasn't licensed. (And no, Avatar is not an anime). My guess is one or two of the non licensed ones as well as either Gremlins or Hocus Pocus (but not both). I could also see Brooklyn 99. The show's quality and viewership both tanked towards it's end, and the query eye sales might have scared lego off their "let's give every show an ideas set" spree. -

IIRC she has a different costume in that (No idea why I know that, I haven't even seen the show). My guess is a CMF series 2, or they're thrown into comic sets. -

What, you got something against the bad batch? Unta, Recka, Tik, Rossair, and Icko? Better profits thing doesn't make sense either though. Some of the sets they increased weren't exactly bestsellers, and some of the bestsellers haven't increased. I don't know what their play is here. -

This is gross. I can understand that they're having to do this because the raw materials have gotten more expensive...just...ugh. $50 more for the AT-AT, $SEVENTY more for one of the harry potter sets... even the $5 more for stuff like Dark Trooper Attack that already felt overpriced to start with is annoying. I'm just happy BD-1 and the Galaxy explorer haven't been hit. (And that my tuition hasn't increased. Count my blessings, I guess) -

Forgot about TODO, but yeah, you're right. He probably won't show up again. Bane might not be THIS Bane, but like I said, if nothing else, the other ones should get cheaper once he comes out, so it depends on if you specifically want this version of Cad Bane or just A Cad Bane. Omega, though, I disagree on. They made 4 new prints for her, and she is one of the main characters of the show. I'm confident she'll show back up in something over the next few years, even if it's just an advent calendar. -
DC Superheroes 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I thought the 2013 and 2017 Arkhams were both very nice. Sure, they're not the deepest sets, but they fit a variety of cells and look very nice and Gothic. I think a mix of the two, one with the 2017 model's layout and exterior but the 2013 model's cell count, would be very solid and come in at under $200. But point is, you've got options. With the Hall of Justice, the exterior has to have the fountain out front and the massive arches, and the interior needs to be more spacious and not as cramped as Arkham is able to look. I'm not saying it needs to be $500, but since we haven't had one, I'd much rather have it than a fourth arkham at that size. Plus, there's a LOT of interior that can be done. The conference room, trophy room, statues, locker/equipment room, etc have all featured in various media (they could even do the morgue, since it's 18+, though they would probably still want to avoid that), and all would look very nice if they were more spacious than your typical arkham cell or office. -

Yeah, seriously. Arkham and the batcave have been done very well at the $100-200 size, and like others have said, a $500 batcave has it's own problems. A $500 arkham, in my opinion, doesn't bring anything to the table that the existing ones haven't done already. It'd just be more cells and figures. A Hall of Justice, on the other hand... now that's something we haven't gotten yet, at least. -
Wishlist: Future Star Wars Sets and Minifigures
Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
You and me both. @ARC2149Nova, those are some great sets. A new Swamp Speeder would be perfect, especially given Lego's weird insistence on $30-40 GAR vehicles, they should at least do one that fits the price range instead of BARCS and AT-RTs. And since they love doing kashyyyk sets almost as much as they love hoth, it'd be nice to get one that brings back the wookie warriors and ornitheraptor. Edit: Update on the wishlist. I've finished all microfighters, batttle packs, the duel set, and the geonosian cannon/starfighter set. (Though I might go back to that one. The rest of the builds I think are pretty solid, but in that one the starfighter alone was like 450 pieces, which was way over the piece count I was going for for the whole set, and when I re-did it with a smaller piece count it looks...not as good. Still better than the 2011 though.) So that's a solid chunk of the sets finished. Tomorrow I'm going to start working on the torrent and fanblade. -

My advice would be this: Wait a few months at least. Having a new Cad on the market should, if nothing else, drive the cost of the others down a bit. And Omega will probably show up somewhere else -

Marvel Superheroes 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
If it exists, I'm 90% sure it's avengers tower. But hear me out, if it is a DC set, it would make the rest of this year's DC content make sense. Given the limited budget of the theme, of course there'd only be 4 system sets this year, if the other one is a massive Hall of Justice or Batcave or something. It's straight Copium, but it would make sense. There's a middle ground here. It's definately annoying for lego to make desirable characters or suits (spider-man PS4), but it doesn't mean they have to do things most people don't want at all (was anyone asking for sheriff deadpool?). For instance, using the Ms Marvel and Moon knight suggestions, they could do Ms Marvel in the homemade captain marvel costume and Moon Knight from the Ultimate comics. Still outfits that are real and either somewhat desirable or connected to a new property, but not things that most fans desperately want. -

Ok, sure, technically someone will wear the BP suit by the end of the film (my guess is that they'll keep it secret and out of merch, though). But it doesn't change the fact that the main character of the franchise is gone. -
Super Mario 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Alright, I haven't been a fan of how this theme is set up normally (no minifigures, the weird digi mario, etc), but the D2Cs have been home run after home run. This Bowser doesn't even look like it's made of lego at first. Two minor criticisms I have, though: for $230, I really think they should have cut the base, or at the very least those side pillars. It feels a little overpriced, and those side pillars look like they're from a 4+ set compared to how good the rest of the set is. I kind of wish it was Giga Bowser from Melee. I know he becomes huge in most games, but that's where my mind goes whenever I hear "giant bowser". Giga Bowser also looks more intimidating, but still enough like Bowser that people wouldn't have trouble realizing who it was. And selfishly, the Smash Bros series are my favorite games, and really the only mario stuff I'm a big fan of. (though given how popular the series is, it probably would be a good financial move. A Battlefield or Final Destination set with the OG 8, a buildible master hand, etc could easily be a best seller, and I'd gobble up every expansion they made. Ah, now I want to think how a wave would go). Smash bros wave idea, in spoiler for space. (And yes, I'm sure there's some massive rights issues with doing all this): -

I don't think anyone's "freaking out", but you can't deny this whole movie is a bit weird. I just thought it was odd for a black panther movie to have ironheart, but not, y'know, black panther. And I would say that there is a difference between all those. Mainly, all those characters had at least some form of existing relationship with the main character of that movie: hulk and thor's rivalry , doctor strange as an authority figure for spider-man, black widow's working relationship with captain america, etc. Ironheart hasn't been in anything yet, and it just seems odd to throw a new hero character into a film that simultaneously seems like it'll have too many characters (all the wakandans, of which supposedly there isn't really a "main" character, all the rival atlanteans, ironheart (who's supposed to be an iron man related character, right?), and supposedly , though likely not more than a tease), and yet doesn't have the character the film is named for. It's like, as I said before, if the next spider-man film was about Ned, MJ, and then introduced Speedball. -

Honestly I think the juniors one has more sand blue parts than the 2016 one, not to mention that the juniors set's sand blue parts are larger and, like you say, would be more prominent regardless of size. -

Maybe, but that's due to the comparable movie franchises. Most of the sets are based off the highly successful films, but even those not based on the films have the advantage of the MCU in that, even if Cap or Thor is in a different outfit, kids still recognize the characters. DC's films have done pretty poorly in comparison, and as a result, the only character that really hits the heights of the MCU's "big three" or spider-man is batman (who, I will remind you, did technically already get 3 sets and a polybag this year). Kids haven't seen superman in a movie since 2017 (and what a movie that was), or a full animated series in what, a decade? (shorts nonwithstanding). -

Thanks. But I am gonna make one more change now, I'm not gonna try and compete with that. Very well-done. I'm just hoping for the return of ANY 4-figure, $15 battle packs. If there's no other way, I suppose the $20 ones are ok as well, but as-is we've had 3 battle packs in the past 2 and a half years, 2 of which included only 3 figures. Even then, Vader's castle was a cross-media set (figure from the VR game), and like you say, Bail's just the figure from an otherwise ANH set. It's crazy to me that we don't get more, since it was the only recent SW film that the audience universally seemed to like (and made a sh*t ton of money). -

It's a good design for a juniors set, and includes some recognizable characters (I still don't get why Harley's so popular, to the point that she seems more popular than joker sometimes, but that's not on lego) That's a good point. Blue and yellow with the DC logo, not the batman face. This bodes well for the theme indeed. -

There is a UCS razor crest coming. Reliable leakers have said so, and personally the fact that the lego designers at lego con both wore razor crest T-shirts is enough for me. That's not a coincidence. However, I guess it's possible there's another set we don't know about that's MBS. We did get 3 UCS sets last year, after all.
