  1. Promobricks is teasing it out for engagement, I assume. The gunner looks nice. It's gonna annoy me a little that there are now two circles on each side of the head when they could have just moved the circles up a little, but it's a great figure overall.
  2. We just got high-quality images of Commander Cody cropped straight from the AT-TE that's likely being revealed at legocon. We're still 3 days out...there's a good chance the sanctum leaks before legocon.
  3. If it is the size of the playscale falcon, then it's still pretty overpriced, the most recent playscale falcon had around 300 more pieces than the justifier, and 2 more minifigures. That's a pretty substantial change. That's like an entire Anakin's ETA-2 of extra parts and figures.
  4. You summoned him. Teach me your ways. Aside from if there's any new figs in that possible new set from the instruction manual. I think he looks good. The image also implies that the AT-TE has an interior, which is nice, since IIRC the 2013 one really didn't have too much of one.
  5. I don't think it is. If you're going to make a $500 marvel set, I'd say No Way Home/the liberty parlance is the best possible thing to do for it besides maybe avengers tower. "it's really popular, so therefore the set has to be cheap to sell" makes no sense. Of course not everyone can afford a $500 marvel set. I can't afford a $500 marvel set. (Or a $300 one for that matter...I'll get you someday, bugle), at least not right away. Which is also part of the point. This is something, that just like that death star set, kids would save up for for years to buy. It would be THE spider-man set in a way that the bugle isn't, because it wouldn't just be based off one of the most popular fictional characters of all time but one of the most popular films of all time. I guarantee you a $500 liberty parlance would sell well not just for the first few months but for years, well past the time they'd typically retire a set, again just like that death star. I'm not saying that they should only make one NWH set, and that the single set must be $500. But if a mrvel set was to be $500, the most logical thing to base it on would be one of the most popular films of all time (Hence why this one is likely the tower). Codyleaks is fake. He deletes posts that were proven false to appear more legitimate, but he's fake. For a little while he piggybacked off a small retailer, giving him the pyramid set (I think the only one that he was the "first to report"), but he gets so many things wrong it's laughable.
  6. I disagree. I wouldn't like it, because I'd want Toby and Andrew to be available for cheaper, but as a business decision it sounds smart. Look at the death star, that sold so well that the set was available for 8 years, than a further 5 or so after a minor update. And it was mainly geared towards kids, so you aren't going to get the entire market of UCS buyers. No Way Home, right now, has a cultural impact equal to or even greater than SW. And it'll fade, of course, but it'll be, to quote Morbius, "one of the movies of all time". I really think a $500 No Way Home set of the final battle, kitted out with all the spideys, villains, etc, would do pretty well. That's not to say a $250-300 one wouldn't be a better choice, but the $500 set would still be a pretty good idea. Of course, it's all hypothetical, as there's no way in hell this is a No Way Home set.
  7. It's like the grievous fighter from 2020, except twice the price. Someone might buy a set that should be $40-50 for $80, but I don't see many people buying a set that should be $80-100 for $160. Unless the justifier is, like, a bionicle, there's no justification for the price. Falconfan said it's fake. A good fake IMO, but apparently fake nonetheless.
  8. Omega looks awesome, but not $160 awesome. Bane looks fine. I still think it's hilarious for BD to be as tall as or larger than TODO, but he's a solid mold and figure.
  9. So sort of a three-pronged argument here as to why this doesn't work. 1: Many of these don't work as army builders in the first place. The lanterns especially, it'd be like saying "jedi" or "sith" as an army-builder. 2. Most of the rest are hilariously obscure (the robats, rocket red, etc.) Heck, I didn't remember killer moth goons being anything special, and I couldn't even FIND anything about them on google. Kids tend to prefer things they recognize, and the CMFs are generally geared towards kids mainly. 3. Cmfs aren't, and have never been meant as, army builders. Sure, you could hypothetically use them as one, but they aren't supposed to be. They're designed so you want to collect one of each, not 10 of a specific one. Well, on that we agree at least. CMFs aren't and have never been meant for army building. Muppets is a very popular franchise, and definately has properties for children releasing currently (or at least within the past few years.). Most CMFs are 100% geared towards kids. The only ones I'd say weren't mainly for kids were the simpsons one, and mayyybe the muppets one.
  10. No, no, no. Clearly it'll be: Spider-man vs Venom Mech ($29.99): Spider-man mech (Dark azure instead of blue or dark blue), and venom mech (just the spider man mech in black and white). Uses the current Venom and 2021 comics spidey Black Panther vs AIM Agent Mech ($29.99): Black Panther mech (Very similar to 2022 version, but with more purple), AIM Agent mech. Uses the current BP and AIM minifigures. Iron man vs thanos mech ($29.99): Iron man mech (red and yellow), Thanos mech (gray and gold): Comes with Iron man (avengers 2020 version) and Thanos (minfigure from the sanctuary)
  11. Hey, you never know when someone'll go straight for the shoulders! Actually, with the amount of amputation SW characters go through, it might be a good idea if he wants to keep his arms. I'm not sure how feasible they all are to make customs of, but they are fun to look at. There's non-cyborg grievous, evil chewie, evil old ben, redeemed vader with no helmet, etc.
  12. ...I wonder why lego focuses on kids mainly. I just can't put my finger on it...it's almost like it's a children's toy company or something. That aside, they do make a solid amount of sets for adult DC fans. It's the one situation where there's more DC than marvel. 3 Bat-vehicle UCS sets in the last 3 years, the cowls, etc. It seems unfair to say they don't make sets for adult collecters when we've literally had 5 in the last few years (arguably the 66 batmobile and system tumbler were a sort of middle ground, too). The reason the adult sets mainly tend to be UCS and cowls is because that's what sells to adults, apparently. UCS and helmets are what sells to adults for the SW theme, becuase, as has been discussed many times in the threads for that theme, they don't just appeal to adult lego fans but adult fans of the property. Because there aren't enough adult lego DC fans for, say, a $250 tower of fate or something. And a CMF series 2, really? First of all, that is geared towards kids. Second of all, it's only been a couple years, and you have to remember that the CMFs specifically tend to not be too large in number as having multiple CMFs out at once cannibalizes the sales in a way that having different sets out at once doesn't. I'm assuming lego has an idea of whether or not the first was profitable by now, and if it was, I'm sure we'll see another, but I kind of doubt it. It's not just that the CMF had to sell as well as, like, series 20 or something, it had to sell better, because DC takes a cut of that money. And as I said a day or two ago, DC isn't as much of a pop culture juggarnaut as it used to be, so I'm not sure that the potential extra sales of it being DC outweigh the licensing cost. Maybe for Batman, Superman, WW, but kids don't care about bumblebee (unless it's the one from cybertron) or metamorpho.
  13. I should clarify that. There are so far 2 mechs that "make sense": Iron man and Iron Man again. Then, we have mechs that, sure, they could be considered an upgrade for the characters: Captain america, black panther, etc. Then there are ones that seem like they'd be active detriments to their pilots: Thor, Spider-Man, Miles, Thanos. Groot falls in that latter catagory. Now they could make a "mech set" that's just Groot in the style of these mechs, with a molded or brick-built head, but they seem pretty hell-bent on these being stereotypical mechs without any real innovations.
  14. I might be missing something, but what exactly would lego even be selling off? Either way, the batman stuff still seems to sell, so the theme stays with that lifeline until those stop selling. As long as DC and lego are making money out of it, we'll still get some sets. I know we all like to complain, but the fact is, DC really isn't all that popular with kids. Marvel has the juggernaut that is the MCU now, and the only heavy-hitter DC still utilizes in movies is Batman. So Batman's all we're gonna see, because really, it's the only thing from DC kids are certain to recognize and want. What doesn't make sense to me is why they produce so few sets even for batman, and why they refuse to put superman or wonder woman in those sets at all. It's not like that'd be a drawback to the set, right?
  15. Jedi Maul and Ventress took me a second, but that's good. You should look up the old Battlefront 4 (yes, 4, not 3) concept art, they have dark side versions of the main heroes and light side versions of the villains. It's wild.
  16. I don't think so. Although LAN does send sets out early, this seems REALLY early, and they definately aren't allowed to post the videos on them this early. If those guys are LAN (which I don't think they are), this could cost them their membership. Plus, if it was given out to LAN members we'd see some of the more prominent ones posting videos on it too, at the very least some members that do videos in english. So all in all, I doubt these were obtained via LAN, and if they were, it'll probably be the last LAN sets these guys get.
  17. I'd heard that the actor's allegations ended up being disproven a couple months before he died, but either way, he did unfortunately pass away, and the precedence his character won't return unless there's a scene or two he filmed for something else that they adapt. Here are my guesses: The morally gray characters that will join but eventually turn fully to good and side against Valentia: Yelena, USAgent, and/or Kate Bishop (Not as morally gray, but inexperienced enough to be manipulated into thinking the Thunderbolts are just the new Avengers) The characters that will remain loyal to valentina for one reason or another: Taskmaster, Abomination, ghost. Really any previous villain that didn't die fits here. The "rick flag", a firmly heroic character included to try and keep the others in check: Bucky (He still seems pretty guilty over being the Winter Soldier and could easily be manipulated into joining), Clint Barton (Suppose valentina threatens to recruit Kate if he doesn't join). Our lists are overall pretty similar, though I'm 99.9% sure we won't see goliath, because he seemed a bit too old, and was definately firmly out of the action in Ant-Man and the Wasp, with no indication he'd return. I also think Abomination is probably joining, seeing as he was in Shang-Chi and will be in She Hulk, seemingly at least partially reformed. However it shakes out, USAgent is all but confirmed, so I just hope we get a figure of him.
  18. How are people getting ahold of these? It's supposed to be august for everyone, right? This seems super early.
  19. Looks good, a little big maybe. What I've been using for a while is the Superman hair in dark brown with Cassian's face: (I know the image isn't head one but it's all I have on me and I'm too lazy to take another)
  20. I don't watch MandR because I find him to be whiny and he rarely provides new information, but my guess is he was claiming that the blue stripe on the starfighter set was a box art mistake or something.
  21. Since there's a 12x12 size limit for these vignettes, I was trying to think of scenes from star wars that were vertical. I thought Teth would be a fun battle to make, but since the planet's lavender and I own maybe 4 lavender bricks, I did it through stud.io. I first created a mini-scale AT-TE, then the terrain of the cliff, than I added in some mini STAPs and studs representing clones, jedi, and droids. We see clones at the bottom scurrying to avoid a falling AT-TE, shot off the wall by buzzing STAPs. Further up, Rex and some clones scale the wall, and a second AT-TE closes in towards the top with more STAPS buzzing around, but also Ahsoka defending it. At the top, droids stand at the ledge to fire down at the clones, while Anakin wrecks shop against a number of his mechanical foes. And yes, it does fit within the 12x12 frame. Part of the damage on that falling AT-TE is to keep it from overhanging. Let me know what you think! I'll be doing one more 12x12 vignette, out of physical bricks, about Jedi: Fallen Order.
  22. I could see that. Be a nice way to have a T-47 on the market without it being a straight Snowspeeder remake. Though I'd hope Leia would be included. Rebels Wave:
  23. This isn't unique to lego, either. Look at the new midnight suns (can't believe the title's a typo ) game, they've forcibly inserted Iron man and spider-man into it. I do have some hope for the NEXT time a sanctum rolls around though (so, what, 2026?), because the newest film proved Dr. Strange can make money without the avengers. I think as others have said, that film became the marvels. With one of the two main MCU female heroes dead and the other evil, that team would be, like, Gamora, Wasp, Shuri, the Marvels, etc, and there's no logical way to bring them together while keeping the male characters out of it. It'd be like a team of Groot, Ant-Man, M'Baku, War Machine, Moon Knight, and Hulk or something. But anyway, regardless of whether the A-force film is the marvels, dead, or something else, it's definately not Thunderbolts. They very obviously recruited John Walker, it's hinted they're adding Abomination, and both of them are definately male. (Plus I highly doubt Wasp is in it. I suppose Kate could be manipulated into it like John and Yelena, though) Anyway, I do hope the film means we get a John Walker figure. His fall and redemption was probably my favorite part of TFATWS.
  24. I do this same thing, though usually with just 1 copy. I said earlier I wasn't quite sure if canon exclusives or christmas guys were better, but I will concretely say I think all the repeated figs should be army-builders. This is why I maintain christmas mando's torso was the best advent calendar print. The scarf is christmasy, but also works as an in-universe torso. A mandalorian outlaw wouldn't look out of place with that scarf. To a lesser extent this also works for christmas Jango, since the torso seems just like a red mando torso from far off and with a belt and pauldron you can hide the christmas elements entirely.
  25. Looks good! A fine addition to any coffee table. I especially like the bridge module. My one criticism is that, especially in comparison to that excellent bridge module, the other parts feel a little..basic. It's sort of an inherent issue with star destroyer interior mocs at this scale, I mean the floor isn't really the most detailed SW design, but if you tiled at least that back area and had the line patterns the floor of the ship has, I think it could be a nice improvement. Also the dark bley plates are slightly off-center and I want to reach through my screen and adjust them. Great MOC nonetheless, the size alone is impressive, and it does bear repeating how cool that center module is.
