A friend of mine found a set of Galaxy Explorers at Walmart for $35 each yesterday. Me and my friends cleaned the shelf of 'em (this is my second copy, but $35 was too good to pass up), but that doesn't bode super well for the set sales wise.

LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

I actually think it's possible that it was always meant to release at that time, even pre-show, and the only thing rushed in was the inclusion of Baby Yoda. The set was an amazon exclusive, and we'd just had the amazon exclusive vader's castle set, so it tracked that the RC would be the next amazon exclusive since in lego's eyes the TV show sets were obscure. (Though we did get a few between rebels and the crest- Yoda and anakin's starfighters come to mind- they were all pretty safe, cheap sets with figures and general ship archtypes that were in the movies) -

Maybe. I kinda feel like it'll be the UCS Luke's torso, head, and helmet with the y-wing pilot legs from Yavin. Capitalizing on AFOL'S want for good pilot figs by putting the dual-molded legs in mech might help them get some sales (this is another one that baffles me- like yeah, it's luke, but... I dunno. The dark side mechs didn't do well near me, and if the bionicles were any indication, the fully helmeted dark side characters sell better than the light side characters with exposed faces when it comes to this sort of thing. -
Part of it's bias I'm sure, because Jay's been my favorite since I was a kid back when it came out, but the fact that every other ninja was in the team except him is really annoying to me. I haven't watched Dragons Rising yet, but do they even really talk about him? Didn't he and nya literally get married around 2018-2019? Should she not be at least a little interested in finding her husband, even if the ninja as a whole have written him off for whatever reason?

If you read the interview, the designer says he made it of his own prerogative right after he started just as a personal thing, and eventually it was decided to adapt that as a set- this is hardly a typical example of the set design process. It's possible a designer has a moc of, say, the TIE interceptor or sail barge lying around, but it's not accurate to say, for instance, development of the 2024 UCS TIE interceptor started in 2012 when designer Bob Legoman made a MOC of the ship. They're pretty clear at the top of that article about the actual design process taking 5-6 months for a set this big. We also know from Prelims that leak far, far before a set's release that they 100% do sit on mostly or completely finalized designs for months before release. -
But Catwoman and Penguin aren't joker. Harley and batman are indeed harley and batman, and the only difference between the shadow box batman and the other ones was the head, which itself appeared in a $5 polybag. I'm not saying the figs 100% won't be comic based, because lego batman adheres to murphy's law of lego sets, but the shadow box sets, if anything, the opposite precedent. It could mean either. With any other theme I'd say I'd be shocked if they were both Batpods, but with this theme? The only reason I'd be shocked is that we'd be getting another batman set in the first place.

I don't know. On the one hand, we know the Harley and Batman BTAS designs are coming in the skyline, so I feel like those two (At least in the batmobile- if the 4+ set already has a comic re-use I could see batman and jonkler being re-uses as well) will be their BTAS versions, plus it'll keep consistency with Mr. Freeze. That said, lego Batman continues to show it will always do things the worst possible way, so...

I honestly think someone at lego just thinks kids are gonna go nuts for mechs/buildible figures that are parts of larger vehicles. They've done Kai's mech and bike, Ghost Rider's mech and bike, and now giant Batman and bike. Also, on the question of giant batman, even if we completely discount the fact that no children are into Nolan's trilogy, there's not even enemies for him to fight! This is more than 100% more expensive than last year's bat figure for the added playability of a bike, when he's still got no one to chase/fight. I can't believe I'm saying this, but where's the joker buildable figure? And if it's not about playability, but display, why's there a buildable batman at all? Lego sells motorbikes for display all the time, and I have to assume they do well given they keep making them. This set would have sold so much better if it was a UCS Bat-Pod, even if there were no figs, or the only fig was a re-used TDK batman, just because adults would actually be more likely to view it as a display product and buy it. What a fun event! But I think Gordon might be a little sad on the roller coaster anyway, he's got a stressful job. Maybe some pictures of his family would cheer him up, alongside some carnival friends singing a fun song? And where's our UCS Crowbar?

I believe it is per-IP, not per-company. Already having a good relationship with the company makes getting more IPs from that company more likely, but not cheaper. As an example, the star wars mechs are more expensive than the identical marvel mechs, despite being pretty much the exact same product. This implies disney is charging a greater licensing fee to lego for star wars than marvel (Though obviously we don't know that for sure, it's just an example. That said, a lot of data supports this- marvel is getting a set with 4 figs for $15 this year, whereas star wars moved up to $20 for the 4 fig battle packs a few years ago) -

It was absolutely shocking to me that they revealed this in the trailer, albeit likely accidentally. Lego seems to be making up for the weird prevalence of the 41st by just not including them at all since lego's "put clones in everything" era began. I wouldn't be surprised if we do end up getting the wolfpack before them, even if not in a Turbo Tank. I can promise you this has absolutely zero bearing on whether or not lego releases a turbo tank anytime soon. Most casual FANS wouldn't notice this, lego knows the average consumer will not care in the slightest. Hopefully we at least get a battle pack with something like 2x TK trooper, 1x commando, 1x elite trooper. As much as I'd like a full wave of bad batch, there's too much material releasing. If lego made a full wave for each series that released, that would be the majority of sets each year dedicated to new material, and I can promise you that sales wouldn't be as good as they are for pumping out stuff everyone recognizes. -
I honestly don't have an answer. Even with deciding only lego batman will sell, there's still so much they could do with the theme. I am at the point where a system batcave or batboat would legitimately be new and interesting for me. Hell, it's been 7 years since our last Arkham. While this wave is slightly better for collectors (harley and freeze) I'd argue it's actually significantly worse for the average kid, since the batmobile continues to reach more and more absurd prices. On the bright side, once the new one releases, either it or the 2023 manmobile will hit some pretty nice sales- those sets are going to cannibalize almost all of eachother's sales. "Why. But I ask again, Why." Seriously, who is this for? I really don't think there's an overlap at all between Nolan Trilogy fans and the buildable figures aimed entirely at children. This would be like a 4+ set based on the warehouse fight (Ok, maybe a little less weird than that, but still- at least adults would buy the 4+ warehouse fight for the figs)

Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

I legitimately think this is a possibility- they've done the iconic part of the other big three (Hammer, Shield, gauntlet/helmet), the hulk hands are an iconic toy, and we know how lego is evidently fine releasing disembodied limbs as sets. I'm not saying it'd be a remotely good set, though... There is one (1) system, non gimmick DC set this year. It is an even more expensive batmobile, compared to last year, which had two (2) system sets: a batmobile that was more expensive than normal- though not as expensive as this one, $60 is absurd-, and a batwing. Both years also had one each of a D2C, a juniors set, and a buildible figure, though this year is also getting us a mech gimmick. I unfortunately don't think this is a respark for DC, I think it's the next step into the coffin. -

My mistake- you're right. I believe the same, especially considering they've been running the TROS falcon for almost 5 years now. Ironically I'm at the point where I want them to do a new OT falcon, which is funny because most of this forum seems to hate re-releases, but aside from my general subscription to the "kids should almost always be able to purchase an X-wing, TIE, Falcon, and Jedi Starfighter without buying secondhand", the only falcon I've got is the TROS falcon, and while the 4x6 wedges are an excellent step in the right direction, there's still room for improvement (and even though we're reaching 5 years I still never finished modding it to have the OT design) -
Release the (duplo sets for the) snyder cut! Unless there's another post where he explicitly says minifigure, I'm pretty confident "Bat-Pod with figure" means it'll have a buildable figure to ride the bat-pod. Another complete loss, then (Which again is most excusable with this set since it's for younger kids), unless the Jonkler is BTAS Jonkler, in which case there's at least something for older fans. Note that it's a couple less parts than the Keaton Batmobile from last year. I'm pretty confident it'll be that size and general shape, unfortunately.

The rank plaque isn't right (but when is it ever with lego imperial officers) but you can't tell me at least one of the officers with this head isn't supposed to be Tagge. Unfortunately he can't have an alternate face due to the officer hat not covering the back of the head enough, but maybe we'll see him with a single face. -
Unless the batmobile is heavily, HEAVILY downsized from it's most recent versions, it is just gonna be the batmobile- the set's actually a few pieces LESS than the most recent system batmobile. And unfortunately, we almost certainly won't have a minifigure in the batpod set since it's got a buildible figure.

Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
And the Batpod is that and not the ~1800 pc D2C, which given the now rapid decay of the lego DC theme would imply marvel is getting that D2C this year. Since we're getting the mansion, I am inclined to think this'll be another buildable object- I'm going with either a large-scale iron man helmet or the Hulk Hands. -
Honestly I much prefer not having characters locked behind an exclusive set. It's disappointing how few we're getting, but if Freeze and Harley were exclusive to the $300 set, and they just put, like, jonkler in the batmobile, wouldn't that be significantly worse? But overall, yeah. These were my lowest expectations for the theme in a long time and they somehow still managed not to meet them. I guess Batgirl is something, but part of me thinks the figs in that set will be older versions- I can't see a 4+ BTAS set. Specific thoughts: Bat-mech. Fine. Do it. It was an inevitability, I feel like an idiot for not realizing this is what the $15 set would be. Ironically, it will 100% do well, because unless you're able to snatch the polybag, the next cheapest set with batman is $35 for last year's batwing, somehow. 4+: The 4+ was always a write-off, since it's not for us, but if there's BTAS figures in it, it might somehow be the best of the wave. Buildible batpod with buildible figure- what f***ing demographic is this for? What's the overlap between fans of the mature, decade-old Nolan movies and the buildable figures? Why isn't this just a UCS Batpod that can fit last year's batman? $60 batmobile- "They can't keep getting away with this! They can't keep getting away with it!". The batmobile is now $60. For a SYSTEM BATMOBILE. It was $30 just 2-3 years ago. I get inflation's bad, but it's not even within orders of magnitude of 100% over two years, that's some 1930s germany/recent venezuela stuff right there. It is nice that Harley and Freeze aren't locked behind a $300 set, but it's not nice enough to justify a $60 batmobile with only 3 figs. A batmobile that's LESS PIECES than the $48 one we just got last year. This is insanity. The $48 batmobile isn't selling at any of the stores near me, assumably because people don't want to pay almost $50 for a batmobile. I honestly think it'll see an uptick in sales next year once people see a batmobile $12 more expensive with a single additional figure and near-identical piece count right next to it. Most likely- I think a D2C arkham would have to be a higher piece count than that.
-
I think the "The Batman" batcave was the same price, but I refuse to call it a batcave- I like the movie, but man that is a TRAIN STATION WITH A JAIL CELL, not a batcave. I'm still holding out hope Phantasm is included, to the extent she counts as a villain, since she has been hinted at and she's never been on-screen since the DCAU, so it's not like she's gonna show up in evergreen sets.
-
No, these sets are heavily rumored to be based on the 90s animated series Batman: The Animated Series. As a side note, I don't think we get anything from caped cruscader directly- the best we'll get is some sets loosely inspired by it a year or two after it's release- if it does release. This new show has been in production hell for awhile, and if lego isn't comfortable making sets for hundred-million-dollar films from DC, it's highly unlikely they'll put sets out to tie into a new animated show, especially one with a production as troubled as this.
