LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

And I thought the near 10% in my town was bad That's interesting to me. I certainly wouldn't be further increasing R2's price towards that of the current UCS set if I were lego- it seems fine for $100 over here in the states, but if it's 40NZD above the conversion rate, that's rough. The tantive is a lot more interesting though- it's got a significantly cheaper base price, so the altered price is of a lot more significance- you guys are getting a pretty good deal on that. Do you guys normally get pricing differences that big? I know I've heard people mention before that AUS will oftentimes increase the AUD price past the conversion rate of the US one, but I don't think I've heard of as large a percentage as R2's been marked up by, or ANYTHING being marked down nearly as much as the Tantive. -

That is weird- the site is still active, but it's all official reveals and such- they haven't leaked anything in a long time. I wonder if they lost their source. -

Chewie is 33% more expensive than C-3PO, which I guess makes sense for a bulkier, shaggier, taller figure with a weapon. So fortunately or unfortunately, C-3PO is in scale with the walking carpet. -
4+ serves a purpose- to provide the younger fans with the main vehicles/locations/characters. A $10 impulse set- which they have brought back for Marvel- is great, but for a 4 year old who wants a batmobile/batcave/etc with some amount of size to it, not as good. Buildable figures though, I really can't seem to find the demo they're going for there.

Me, punting a six-year-old out of the way to grab the last Sith Infiltrator (I have no interest in the set itself). Saw is welcome news and a great choice for an anniversary fig. -

How could I have forgotten to suggest Mara Jade?!?!? I agree generally speaking, but I feel like around the same amount of people who know Malak know her. I knew her appearance from some of the Zahn book covers, actually. Joke's on Saw fans (Including me), Renown's actually telling us what the buildable creature is. But yeah- Saw is long overdue and it's great he'll finally be availible. 1 or 0, depending on if the dark falcon has Dark Rey or White Vader as the anniversary fig. But I'd lean towards neither at this point. -

I can sort of see it now. My guess is the triangle's just some other thing, maybe something repeated like Rex/Kanan's Jag Eyes. Because the alternative of Fives choosing to represent his dead friend being eaten by an eel on his helmet, representing the dead friend as a red triangle, feels pretty messed up. I put S2 Omega as I feel a lot of people prefer characters who are combatants to noncombatants (or at least I do... I see a lot of love for Boss Nass and various non-battle attire Padmes. The Padme I want most is a non-torn white jumpsuit with the cape), but I agree she's probably on the weaker end of that spectrum of female characters I think people would rather have than Young Leia. I can't believe I didn't think of Talzin though, that's a great shout. And just to add even more- Everie (she's a clone trooper, kind of, so desirability should be off the wall ), Mara Jade, Shattered amor Phasma, Zam Wessel, Mara Jade, Nightsister Zombie, Second Sister, Darth Traya, Mara Jade, Visas Marr, Leia (Boushh), Tusken Warrior (TBoBF), and, and I cannot stress this enough, Mara Jade. I can understand that, but you have to remember this is all under the assumption that lego chose her in some part because they wanted more female anniversary figs, and Boss Nass is male. If we remove that constraint we've put on ourselves, we can add the massive amount of male characters into the fold. We could even get Mar...ek. Galen Marek, the starkiller. Point being- I'm baffled as why they chose young leia when there are so many other female characters that I believe a majority of people would find a lot more desirable. It's not the worst thing in the world, but it is a shame, and I do wonder why they made the choice- Obi-Wan wasn't particularly well-recieved, and they have plenty of other material to cover, even if they want to stay outside the skywalker saga. Like a certain book trilogy introducing a certain redheaded force user working as a smuggler. -
This wave is pretty solid, I LOVE the look of those larger sets! The Shadow Dojo is excellent- the prominence of the moon makes me think the wolf mask guys might have some sort of werewolf-possession thing going on (which would explain the blue eyes on the alternate faces). I love how they made so many places in the set to have the ninja hang/climb/zipline with the climbing tool piece, it's a great gimmick that adds playability without detracting from the look of the set. The climber suits are also excellent, I love that the armor corresponds to the colors of the character- I don't think we've had that before, unless you count the DRS1 masks, which I don't. I don't collect much ninjago, but if the dragon statue came with Wu, Kai, Zane, Jay, and Cole instead of it's current figures, I 100% would have gotten it. A very nice looking statue. The climber mech has a neat gimmick, and is a fine mech for kids-the target audience of all of these but the dragon statue- but not for me. Which is unfortunate- I need that Climber Jay figure. Arin's buggy is another fine one for kids, but by far my least favorite of these sets. I don't like the ninja vehicles (which is like half the theme, I know), and the cars probably bother me the most. That last set, though... if it's really only $15, I'm probably picking it up. Dragons are my favorite ninjago sets, and this is an excellent cheap way to get the three main new characters of Dragons Rising. Also... is Egalt evil? I thought he was a good guy when I first saw him, but the boxart here makes it look like he's in opposition to the ninja, and also just has a sinister vibe. I don't think ninjago's ever done evil dragons before, excluding ones created or controlled by evil humanoids like the mechdragon or that skeletal dragon a few years back.

Mara Jade's a good idea, I hadn't thought of that. I guess I can also add Cere Junda, Merrin, Kay Vess, Mara Jade, Rebel Iden, Comic Leia (yellow vest over white jumpsuit), Dark Disciple Ventress, Mara Jade, Sana Starros, Nala Se, Crimson Dawn Qi'ra, and potentially Mara Jade. Yeah, I think we actually agree on most of this in the end. I honestly never knew Five's helmet was the Rishi Eel. I still can't see it on the figure or in-universe helmet. -

Totally agree if they just wanted a female character there's a lot of choices I think most people would prefer- I'll even exclude KOTOR characters, though I'm leaving TOR's Shatele since that's not really the same time period anymore than the prequels are to the sequels Mara Jade, Shatele Shan, Darth Talon (More appropriate outfit from SWGOH), Mara Jade, Seventh Sister, Mon Mothma, Mara Jade, Yaddle, Doctor Aphra, Mara Jade, S2 Omega, Mara Jade, Mara Jade, or even Mara Jade. Get absolutely wrecked, lego subscribes to the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" philosophy and it's actually just Valance To be honest Valance would actually have been a pretty cool one- visually interesting but we'll never get him in a set. At least modern comics characters like Aphra could hypothetically be thrown into standard OT vehicles like Vader's TIE set or something. AD_Bricks is Anakin confirmed. Given no figs, I wouldn't be surprised if they were all prints. It would also really help sell them as a premium product. -

Or a Purge Trooper, or even just like Fourth Sister or something. At least a design that's more visually interesting (also, every known anniversary fig is a powerful combatant, further isolating Young Leia, who, while somehow able to outmaneuver trained bounty hunters, is still a literal child with no powers at that time.) Well if we don't get him in that, we'll just need Andor S2 to involve a rebel fleet trooper with a red shirt. Young leia isn't a new character either, though- I think Dark Rey and White Vader are both different enough to be labeled anniversary figs. I'd also say that the timeline discrepancy makes it somewhat likely to me that one of them IS the anniversary fig- my money's on infinities Vader- but like you say, it's a shattered glass/what if set, so nothing's off the table for the "normal" figures. Exactly- it's difficult to tell why lego thought the character would be a good move here, especially for the creature set, since more system scale/fig focused fans could be enticed to buy it with an anniversary figure. Malak has drawn significantly more attention to R2 than it would otherwise garner. It's odd to me that they're putting what feels to be almost the objectively least popular/iconic figure in one of the sets that needs it most. -
We really just need a good Batman cartoon airing on a mainline streaming service or network. It's shocking to me that it's been over a decade without a mainline show (Batman Unlimited really doesn't count), and that Caped Cruscader has hit the backburner so hard. If I was Gunn, a mainline Batman cartoon would be the thing I'd focus on most. (That said, if I was Gunn, I'd also be focusing on the trinity and have let Cavill stay... and if I was gonna drop Cavill, I wouldn't say it was for a clean slate and then keep everyone from the stuff I worked on...) But point being, a new batman cartoon would help this so much. Kids right now just don't really have a way to engage with Batman.

I think it's a reference to Seinfeld. Sorry- it's definitely a reference to Seinfeld. So Fives, Malak, Cal, Young Leia, Dark Rey/White Vader, and S4 Ezra, potentially. Overall an excellent list- I can't help but feel like young leia is still a really weak choice compared to the others, and it's odd that they'd put who I assume would be most people's least desirable anniversary fig in a buildible creature with no other figs- but in general this is pretty much all I could ask for. Unfortunately doesn't seem like it, but man I wish. "Rebel with a cause" - the cause is friendship and/or wearing red instead of blue under your vest. I think he means along the lines of some of the others, who sort of vaguely make sense- Cal fights the empire, Dark Rey and White Vader would both fit with the shattered glass falcon, etc. Doesn't work for all of them- I can't reasonably relate fives to the tantive beyond something really tenous like "he served under anakin" or "clones became stormtroopers"- but most of them seem to be placed alongside adversaries or where they fit in some level. If it is a placeholder fig, I suppose "rebel with a cause" was a tagline they used for Jyn, but every other fig hasn't been made before- I doubt it's her. -
Ongoing Transformers Rumors and Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to NoOneOfImportance's topic in LEGO Licensed
I really hope they do Wheeljack at some point, he's my favorite Autobot. Red alert, though, may not show up- he's not really in that top tier of characters, so unless they really up production to something like 4-5 a year, I unfortunately think we'll miss out on him. Hot Rod is definitely possible too. As for more female ones- I think Elita might actually be pretty likely, being the second most well-known, since lego has been pushing to put more female characters in things. I certainly wouldn't complain about getting her though- she's essentially a second Optimus Prime and needs to be more prominent in media than she is. Voltron is just lions that combine into a single large mech, right? Devastator has the issue of robots/vehicles/large robot, and most of the vehicles aren't as much of a block as the voltron lions. Which makes me think we won't see Devastator as a traditional transformer. Maybe some sort of smaller 3-in-1 model, I dunno. -

This wave leaking- "This is getting out of hand! Now there are two three of them!" Do you know any sets that use the former? I'm not doubting, I just hadn't seen it before. I get why we never got the capital ship, but I'm still surprised we've never had the duel. Maybe because of how Anakin ends it, but we've had the mustafar fight and vader's transformation- lego doesn't seem averse to the more violent moments of ROTS. -

I'm not 100% sure he'll have arm printing, but a printed poncho I feel is almost certain. Fives has a printed cloth and arms, Malak has a new mold, etc. I believe C-3PO (and the skiff) have their figure counts leaked already with no anniversary figs, but that said, IIRC we'd originally heard about the hallway long before Fives was leaked to be part of it. The X-wing V Tie 100% will, though. These are EXCELLENT. Incredible detailing. I don't collect this scale, but even I'm considering the Falcon now. My turn to be extremely irrationally upset about lego details- if we get TCS's Tarpals variant before Rebel Friend, I will construct the death star to utilize a single-chamber reaction on Denmark. -

I agree with the general points, but again, we wrap back around to kids. Kids assumably prefer helmet holes for the customizability, and aren't upset (or more likely than not, don't notice) by tiny helmet detail differences or issues, but at the same time, if you give a kid an option between a clone commander and one of the figs you mentioned, nine times out of ten they'll pick the clone trooper because they think it looks cooler. Assumably because the figure is unknown, so they can't tell whether or not it's an astromech. It doesn't necessarily mean "we have seen the figure and can't tell who it is" in which case we'd assumably get some attempt at a physical description like with the blue armored gungan in the falcon. It more likely than not meant that they didn't know who the other figure was. Though I agree with you that it seems unlikely to be an astromech anyway- Jedi bob probably won't be the anniversary figure in his own set, so assuming there IS an anniversary fig in the set, we would be getting another minifigure. (Unless they did, like, T3-M4, but I can't see that happening.) -
It's been fairly well-documented that lego's able to put more detail into unlicensed themes than licensed ones- Star Wars may sell as well as Ninjago (I don't remember the exact sales details but IIRC the two of them, city, friends, and technic are the top 5), but because of the fee Lucasfilm takes for lego selling sets with their IP, lego themselves aren't making as much off it as they are ninjago. (I don't really follow Technic, but I imagine it's a similar situation- I do follow Transformers and I know they become heavily restricted when making their figures turn into licensed real-world vehicles. Volkswagen wouldn't even let them make bumblebee a Volkswagen beetle for a good chunk of time.) Hence Ninjago has a larger budget for new molds, prints, etc. Now that said it doesn't excuse print inaccuracies (though it's important to point out those aren't unique to SW either- ninjago had a whole wave that spelled "master" wrong on all the ninjas' robes).

Indiana Jones 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Pulp Detective's topic in LEGO Licensed
Could have sworn it was M, but seems we're both wrong- there's no listed rating anywhere. Regardless, games don't tend to get sets for lego. As a general rule, if the films couldn't get sets, the games won't. And Indy 5 didn't get sets. The game, good as it looks, is unlikely to change anything lego-wise, so let's recognize that before we go in our own great circle. -
Indiana Jones 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Pulp Detective's topic in LEGO Licensed
I have! The game looks excellent. Unfortunately, I don't think it changes the equation. Star wars is culturally a much bigger deal than marvel, and more importantly, this game is rated M and as such lego will not produce sets for it.
