There was also the set 76131 Avengers Compound Battle, which included both the Hulk and Thanos Bigfigs. So I don't think there is any reason to assume LEGO has a problem with putting more than one Bigfig in a single set (perhaps only as long as they are pre-existing Bigfig molds, though).

Hypothetical Monster Fighters Revival/Reboot
Lego David replied to Karalora's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I see a tone of really cool ideas in this thread, but if people don't actually do something to put them in practice, they aren't going to get anywhere. Why not pitch some of those ideas to LEGO World Builder? Fun fact, this month LEGO is doing a thing called Pitch Fest, where creators can submit their ideas for evaluation and potentially secure a pitch meeting with the LEGO Entertainment Team. -
I would suggest using LEGO World Builder instead. Fun fact, this month LEGO is doing a thing called "Pitch Fest" in which creators can pitch their ideas for potential new LEGO themes directly to LEGO for evaluation, and if they pass, they can secure a pitch meeting with the LEGO Entertainment Team. I personally do not believe a Monster Fighters reboot will get very far on LEGO Ideas.

And It it's not like LEGO has never done sets with more than one bigfig before. You might think including another bigfig to an already expensive set would make the set's price skyrocket... but sets like Hulk Vs Red Hulk included two bigfigs while the price being just slightly higher than this one (50$ it is, right?)

Or they could have introduced a new variant of Sandy, for that matter. Not a new mold, that would be way too expensive, but maybe a recolor of the current mold with a different facial expression, could have made the set a little more desirable.

I am gonna be honest, I am too thrilled by this wave. The Bone Mech looks awesome, but the other two feel like re-trends of previous sets we got in other themes. Pigsy's Tank design looks like almost a copy-paste of the of the Ninjago Destructoid (which is in my opinion of the weirdest Ninjago sets ever) and Sandy's Mech looks like it was designed purely in order to fit a Big Fig in it, and no other thought was put into it. I am gonna be honest, I far prefer the Mechs we got in Chima over this Sandy one we have now. This wave feels like another quickly thrown together summer addition to the winter wave, akin the what we got last year. Besides one good set, I can't call it very good. This makes me wonder how much more this line is going to last. Is it going to abruptly end next year with yet another quickly thrown together inconclusive ending akin to Nexo Knights? As far as I am aware, this line hasn't sold well enough to get a better treatment than that.

Awesome build, you've done a great job expanding upon the classic "Clean it all, it must be clean" idea from the Bohrok!- 2 replies

I feel like that may be more so because they have no evidence to suggest that sets based off the Bible would sell well, and they are using the whole "religious" mumbo jumbo as just an excuse for that. However, if it is proven that the demand for Biblical sets does indeed exist, they may change their mind, because you know.... money. Several years ago, LEGO making sets based of something like Sitcoms (Friends, Seinfield, Big Bang Theory) seemed completely out of the realm of possibility, yet here we are today. Maybe if someone started submitting Bible-based projects on LEGO Ideas, and they all gained 10k supporters, LEGO might finally change their mind?

[MOC] Monkie Kid -- The Iron Cutter
Lego David replied to Grey Magistrate's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Wow, that is pretty cool! You pretty much nailed the color scheme and aesthetic of the Bull clones with this build. I find the inclusion of the Ice Planet 2002 Cockpit as sail particularly clever! -
In my opinion, Goliath might be better fit for a Brick-built figure instead of a Bigfig. That might make the set a bit lacking in terms of set builds. If you go that route, you could have the main build of the set be a brick-built Goliath, plus a few extra side builds. As for how exactly Goliath would be built, I'd imagine him being made either in the style of Ant-Man/Eris, or perhaps in a similar style to the Knight's Kingdom figures. Maybe this might result in Goliath being a bit too oversized compared to his Biblical description (he was described as being around 3 meters tall) but I mean, this is LEGO we're talking about here.

I don't know, I get the feeling LEGO is more like "we are no longer interested in Castle as a fully-fledged LEGO theme, but have this instead" rather than them using a single set to determine if Castle as a LEGO theme is still viable. Even if this set sells exceptionally well, that still won't gurantee a full range of Castle sets also would. If the LEGO designers are to be believed, then I assume for the time being we'll have to be pleased with just occasional one-off sets like this one.

Very cool build, I can see something like this being a good entry into the Bio-Cup contest! You might want to consider joining this year's contest, @ridgekitten!
-
The annual Bio-Cup contest is bound to start soon! For those unaware, it is the largest community-organized Bionicle MOC contest, which is held every year in the summer. Everyone is free to enter the contest, or even if you are not confident enough in your MOCing skills, I would still highly recommend watching the contest as it progress, because during this time, the very best Bionicle MOCs are made! You are going to see some incredible builds that push the boundaries of what can be done with Bionicle pieces. The contest is going to be held in this group on Flikr.

Why didn't you render an image of your MOC? This current picture looks like a poor screenshot... -
I do not believe LEGO would ever make full-on Biblical sets, I'd say the most likely thing they could do is a regular Church within the LEGO City line. LEGO Churches would still be cool, but man, getting sets based on actual Biblical sets would be a dream come true. But since we can all dream, I'd love if we could have gotten an Israeli soldiers battle pack or a set about the conquest of Jericho :-).

My opinion is the complete opposite, most licensed themes are pure cash-grabs and LEGO rarely takes them seriously. They just know the IP will sell, and don't bother putting any real love or care into properly designing those sets. With un-licensed themes, by contrast, a lot more is at stake and LEGO is forced to be creative and come up with something nobody else has on the market. According to LEGO designers, designing a brand new un-licensed theme takes around 2-3 years, while new licensed themes (with only a few exceptions) only take around 6 mouths to design. From my perspective, that's saying a lot...

LEGO Ninjago 2021
Lego David replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I actually do genuinely like the Serpentine vehicles though. With cleverly designed snake faces on them they still feel genuinely unique even today. The Wrecking Ball is probably my favorite, I have always wanted that set ever since it came out. The clear lack of more Villain vehicles has been a real turn off from the current era of Ninjago for me. Even Ninjago Legacy for whatever reason completely avoided remaking any of those 2011-2012 Skulkin and Serpentine vehicles which I would genuinely love to see them re-imagined. -
As a Christian myself, I can safely say that the "Easter Bunny" is 100% a secular thing. So for me personally, I can easily dismiss it as nothing.
-
Sure thing! If you've got anything good to share, go ahead!
-
Exactly. I've been skeptical for years regarding the way TLG handles things, and this set only cements my belief that they're just like any other company, ready to do pretty much anything just for the sake of profit.

The "Everyone is Awesome" Pride set just got leaked, clearly made as corporate pandering to LGBTQ. I really do not like the direction this is going...

Ninjago getting more popular?
Lego David replied to Doom2099's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Ninjago has always been popular, reaching its all-time peak was in 2017 after the LEGO Ninjago Movie (I'd argue it has gone downhill since then). The Ninjago City sets are popular now because they can appeal to a wider range of LEGO fans, even those who have no interest in Ninjago otherwise. So I wouldn't say Ninjago as a whole is getting more popular (it hasn't been on the list of top selling LEGO themes since 2018), it is just the Ninjago City D2C sets in particular that people really want. Even if LEGO released them under a completely different branding, like Creator Expert, I'd argue they'll be just as popular, if not more.
