I guess that widely depends on personal preference, though. I don't just want cool villains, I want cool heroes as well. The highlight of Ninjago have always been the villain factions, but heroes have never been particularly interesting. If you want your LEGO theme to truly stand out, you need to be more balanced, and have both interesting heroes and interesting villains. This issue isn't specific to Ninjago only (It has more or less plagued most of the original themes of the past decade), but when you literally get the exact same boring protagonists every single year, it starts to get tiresome. I completely agree, but I don't think LEGO should retire Ninjago until they find a stable replacement for it. In other words, they should first find a different Big Bang theme that would achieve the same level of popularity as Ninjago, and only then would they be able to retire the theme without regretting it afterwards.

I have to disagree there... Maybe "they don't look like LEGO" would be more accurate to say, but saying "they don't look good" isn't true. Most of the Bigfigs take advantage of being fully molded, and give us some pretty awesome looking designs that wouldn't be possible with normal minifigures. The only ones that I would agree they look kind of bad would be the original version of Hulk, and the current version of Thanos. If the rumors are true, than I am quite excited for the new version of Thanos that will soon come out .

What are some Star Wars sets that TLG could never produce?

A set depicting Order 66 -
I personally don't mind how the Bigfigs look (I just bought a Sandy Bigfig from Monkie Kid a few days ago, and I love its visual design), however I do agree that they should have more articulation and removable parts (in particular, in the head and legs). Otherwise, I wouldn't change their current mold. Just making them upscaled minifigures wouldn't work, because the Bigfig characters are specifically meant to represent strong, beefy and often monstrous characters, that wouldn't really come across that way with normal minifigure proportions.

I love the color scheme! Dark blue and magenta creates a very sharp contrast that is very visually pleasing. All the other engine details are very nice, too!

This may not be very old for most people in here, but the oldest set I own is 3625 Sandy Seagull's Airplane from 1985.

LEGO Ninjago 2021
Lego David replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Bruh, there was a similar fake leak regarding a Borg's Tower set back in like 2018, so there is no reason to believe this one would be any different. Especially considering the fact that the Ninjago City expansions seem the be the only D2C Ninjago sets that would be viable for a general AFOL audience. Kids don't have the money to buy a 400$ Ninjago set, and general AFOLs don't care about buildings that only appear in the Ninjago TV Show. I am sorry to say it, but Borg's Tower is probably too niche of a set to justify LEGO producing it. -
[Lego IDEAS] Native American Settlements
Lego David replied to Padlix's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
There is no way LEGO would approve this (way too controversial) , but it is still a cool project. You have my support. -
I just checked my local LEGO Certified Store's website, and I was very surprised to see that the Blacksmith Shop was being sold for 20% off. That's very unusual, especially for a large D2C set that only recently come out, so I am wondering... is the Blacksmith Shop not selling very well? Otherwise, I see no reason why a big set like it would be given on discount. If this set fails to bring in the profits LEGO wants, I very much fear we might not get anymore new Castle-related sets at all in the near future.

Why all the hate for Legends of Chima?
Lego David replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Even though Thundercats got yet another reboot last year in 2020, funny enough. -
Not exactly. There are currently no significant Bionicle-related theme ideas on World Builder. If anything, I'd argue there a lot more Castle-related projects on World Builder than there are Bionicle-related ones.
-
I miss Castle as much as the next guy, I'm gonna play devil's advocate and say that Bionicle fans have been just as miserable, if not more so. In 2010, when the line was initially cancelled, LEGO promised that the online story serials that were supposed to wrap up the theme's story would be continued, but they ultimately decided shut down everything very soon afterwards, leaving in the dust all the Bionicle fans who were hoping for a proper conclusion to the theme's story. Fast forward to 2015, when the much hyped up reboot was released, and everyone is happy again... until that too was shut down before it even had a chance to properly start. Not having any sets released for almost a decade is one thing... but having the line return only to be quickly cancelled yet again was even more painful for those fans.
-
I mean, the same could be said about Fabuland. A few people have a certain nostalgia for it, but nobody is actively begging LEGO to bring back the line, like Castle, Pirates, and Bionicle fans do. I have spent a fair amount of time with some Galidor sets, and I didn't suffer at all. I had a lot of fun with them, and don't regret getting them in the slightest.
-
Wrong again, it is actually Belville , which lasted for almost 15 years before ending in 2008, never to be seen again
-
Neither of those. The fanbase that has actually suffered the most is actually the Bionicle fanbase. Pirate and Castle fans still get the occasional LEGO Ideas of Creator set related to their themes, but Bionicle fans never get anything. While LEGO still acknowledges Castle and Pirates as "Classic themes" Bionicle has always been infamously treated by LEGO as the unwanted step child. Trust me, as someone who's interacted with all three of the fanbases, the suffering within the Castle or Pirate fanbases doesn't compare with what Bionicle fans have gone through.

This simply isn't true. If anything, minifigures having more facial expressions allows for even more potential to use your imagination and create your own stories. To be fair, the Classic Smile doesn't really inspire me to do anything with the figures... as much as it has a certain charm to it, the figures just look... very lifeless to me. But more expressions gives them more liveliness, and makes them stand out from each, each of them having their own distinct traits and personalities. And you can use those unique traits as a foundation for creating your own stories and characters. Why does this figure look like this? Why does it have this outfit and this facial expression? You can still very well use your imagination to fill in those gaps. I am sorry to say it, but I think a lot of AFOLs are blinded by their own nostalgic interpretation of what LEGO should be like, and fail to realize that LEGO has more or less always been the way they are. They, like everyone else, have just evolved, and that is not a bad thing at all.
-
You are joking, right? Some people may be quite offended by this kinds of statements...
-
No offence, but if LEGO wants to maintain their family friendly brand image, then they would be better off not doing that. In the same way they opt not to include anything religious or political in their products and media, they shouldn't include LBTQ either. LGBTQ already has more than enough representation in other media (just look at how many Netflix shows have it) but asking LEGO to also have that representation is a little to much in my opinion. I am sorry if this response sounds disheartening for you, but this is the reality. Netflix already shoehorns in LGBTQ characters into most of their original shows, and I really do not want to see LEGO start doing the same thing.

Unless you live in a third world country or something, I am pretty sure anyone buying those sets also owns a smartphone (if not the child, than I am sure at least the parent owns one). People not owning phones isn't the problem, if anything, I'd say the real problem is that LEGO will eventually discontinue the app used for Control +, and after that the electric pieces will be completely useless.

A raised baseplate for 5$? Man you are quite lucky, those things are usually pretty expensive online. There a lot of things you can do with raised baseplates, you just need to be a little creative. For example, you could build an interesting Castle, in which you build some towers on the raised bits, and make a large gate in between. You can take some inspiration from how they used them in the actual sets that came with them:

Why did it take so long for LEGO to get into TV Shows?
Lego David replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Maybe it didn't resonate with him and his friends, but it certainly did with almost everyone else. Otherwise, Ninjago wouldn't have ran for 10 years, and we wouldn't have had this conversation today. -
Why did it take so long for LEGO to get into TV Shows?
Lego David replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
In my experience, most people who watch still Ninjago nowdays actually do so on YouTube instead of TV. Cartoon Network is treating the Ninjago like its nothing, despite currently being one of the longest running shows from their platform. For whatever reason, Cartoon Network only airs the new seasons 6 months after the sets that were supposed to tie into them have come out, while the episodes get leaked on YouTube much, much earlier than that. So for a TV Show that is supposed to sell toys, I agree that its doing a pretty bad job at being an advertisement. I feel like at this point, LEGO should just upload all the episodes in HD quality on their official YouTube channel instead of waiting until Cartoon Networks has aired them, because lets be real, that's the real place where people actually watch the show. -
The previous AFOL Designer sets from 2019 only had minifigures with plain torsos and legs, so I am willing to bet they'll do the same here.

They are Galidor shield pieces from the set 8318.
