Those themes were made before Disney owned Star Wars, and at the time LEGO and Disney didn't have that much of a connection as they have now. And no new Star Wars media was released at the time, therefore being place for both Star Wars and in-house space. What are those surveys, more exactly? I never heard of LEGO doing such marketing surveys.

The thing is, they aren't even trying. Say what you want about Pirates 2015 not selling well or whatever, you can't really blame it when the advertising for it was close to non-existent. I wouldn't be surprised if I found out that the kids at the time weren't even aware of it's existence. As you said, classic themes this days need advertising in order to succeed. But where is that advertising?

What bugs me about this though, is how easy LEGO goes into remaking licensed sets for a new generation, but they do almost nothing in that area for their original themes. I mean, we have more than enough remakes of the Millennium Falcon, but what about remakes of Iconic original-themed sets like The Black Seas Baracuda, for example? While remakes of original themed sets used to happen in the past, but they don't happen anymore. I personally believe a new generation has the right to have a new Pirate Ship in the same way the have the right at a new Millennium Falcon.

I think this is actually a pretty good idea. As long as they are a more small vehicles at an affordable price, I don't see why not. But technically LEGO City has done that in the past with a few sets: But yeah, sets that include vehicles only and no other side builds are something that I would actually really like to see implemented at some point in LEGO city.

Most of the new sets have little to no improvement over their predecessors. Heck, with some of them you can't even tell what's the difference.

LEGO Hidden Side 2020
Lego David replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Sounds pretty interesting. I hope we get some of the ghosts in actual physical form in this set. Doesn't sound like anything amazing, but we don't get Gas Stations in LEGO very often (not even in lines like City). It would probably be similar to El Fuego's Stunt Truck, maybe red or green. It may or may not be interesting, we will see. Ok, I am pretty excited for this one. And this one. I have no idea what this is going to be. So yeah, this sounds like some pretty good stuff. I am pretty excited... And ai really hope we get ghost minifigures. -
I have always wanted a CMF series based on the Ninjago TV Show (not movie) with characters that never appeared in minifigure form.

What is interesting though, is that LEGO doesn't provide me with what I want from the CMFs.

Everyone loves Space Themes. And Star Wars is holding them back. That is why it needs a break.
-
Well yeah, but the new Star Wars content is about to slow down after Episode 9 leaves the theaters...
-
At this point, Star Wars got so repetitive, that at this point, it feels like every set released is just a updated version of the same space ships. There is almost nothing new. Just the same Millenium Falcon which we have gotten 10 times already. I think that after the Episode 9 sets release, it should take a break. Not be canceled for good, just take a break of 2-3 years. I don't think that would do any harm. Plus, it might allow the designers to come up with new design ideas, so they don't just keep spamming the same sets over and over again. What do you think? Should LEGO Star Wars take a break after the Episode 9 wave? Or just keep going without ever stopping?
-
Not really. Just because it was different from an average Castle line doesn't mean it was a step backwards. If anything, Knight's Kingdom 2 was a step forward instead of backward, integrating a elaborate story line, interesting characters, and a awesome parts selection.

Bionicle back please. One of the best LEGO themes ever.

Yeah, like maybe a new reamke of the Naboo Starfighter. I am sorry to say it, but Star Wars got to the point where there is absolutely nothing new to it, just reamkes of older sets which we have gotten 10 times by now. That is why we need a new original space theme so desperately.

I think almost all original themes deserve to be rebooted at some point.

Is LEGO getting to inaffordable for kids?
Lego David replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well yeah, but can you expect a child to buy online? Those are deals you tipically get online, not at retail (although that is still possible). -
Is LEGO getting to inaffordable for kids?
Lego David replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It depends on the number of children. If the family has more children, then they are probably going to buy cheaper sets. Yeah, but how many parents out there are even aware of that? -
When I was a kid, my parents would almost never buy me any sets that were more than 15$, and getting sets more expansive than that happened very rarely to me. Nowdays, in pretty much every LEGO theme, most of the smallest sets are 20$ or 30$, and the 10$ sets are starting to get pretty uncommon (outside of lines like City and Creator). The sets are getting more and more expansive, and the number of large D2C sets has grown drastically. I know that AFOLs have their own jobs and money and they can spend as much money on LEGO as they want, but what about the kids? Can their parents even buy all those sets that start to get more and more inafforadble? What are your thoughts?

Not really... most of those types of themes we had so far were made out of pretty generic parts that weren't all that useful...- 451 replies

What are the most underrated themes?
Lego David replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I really recommend you check it out in more detail... It's such an amazing line that got forgotten for no reason. -
Yes we do. Those have nothing interesting about them. Just generic space shuttles. Which were exactly the same as the City ones, except under the Creator theme. I mean, just because they have something related to space doesn't mean it's a space theme. I don't think it;s really going to be pointless. After all, people asking for it isn't already a reason why you should make it? And if done right, it won't be a waste of TLG's time and money either. Ok, maybe you could argue that we technically still have space sets today, but in 1-2 years those would be gone too.
