Lego themes that we would like to happen
Lego David replied to YellowCorvette's topic in General LEGO Discussion
No, I mean actual comic books, not just comics appearing in magazines and such. Like the Bionicle comics:- 451 replies

Have LEGO Movies become extended advertisements?
Lego David replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My imagination? Huh. Than it's odd that some people do agree with those "imaginary" flaws. -
Lego themes that we would like to happen
Lego David replied to YellowCorvette's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Maybe they can start their own comic series based on an in-house superheroes line, like they did with Bionicle where a major part of the story was told trough comics- 451 replies

Have LEGO Movies become extended advertisements?
Lego David replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well, I guess I wasn't paying enough attention to the movie detalils, than. So what? This is the type of discussion I personally enjoy, unlike most people which talk about the newest sets which I have little to no interest in. If you like LEGO's current market and you think they are actually improving, that is great. It's great that you can enjoy something that I can't. If you're tired of responding to my (and other people's) criticism against LEGO with your very long posts, than don't do it. Nobody forces you to. You can just ignore my topics if they really distrub you so much. -
Have LEGO Movies become extended advertisements?
Lego David replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well ironically, we did get plushes based on those movies... -
In 2014, when the LEGO Movie was announced, everybody though it was going to be just some weird advertisement. And surprisingly enough, it was anything but an advertisement. It surprised both the audiences and the critics, in becoming one of the best animated movies of all time. But since than... things no longer feel like that. After that we got the Batman Movie, which while I didn't personally enjoy it that much, it was still liked by the majority of the audience. But here the things started to get weird. We got two Batman CMF series, which was just straight up unusual and unnecessary. We got 44 sets according to Brickset, which was semnificantly higher than the 33 we got in total for the first LEGO Movie. Because of the success of the movie, the sets sold very well, a lot well than Batman sets usually sell. It wasn't as successful as the first LEGO Movie, but it was successful enough to have a sequel which is still rumored at this point, but very likely to happen. Than we got the the Ninjago Movie, which came as a failure with weak box office results and unusually low ratings compared to it's predecessors. The movie was supposed to improve upon the already successful Ninjago, but instead we got that silly plot with that Giant Cat and a completely unnecessary redesign of the main characters. It had a lot of potential to make Ninjago even more popular, but honestly, this is the one which probably felt the most like an adverisement. Instead of improving Ninjago, it felt like extended adverisement of the Ninjago Movie sets. Not that it was bad, but it felt like a wasted potential. And finally we get to the most recent one: The LEGO Movie 2. While I did enjoy it, and it is probably my 2nd favorite LEGO movie, still many parts of it felt like advertisements. Like, I just can't get over the fact that there wasn't a single vehicle in the entire movie which wasn't released as a set before the movie's release, unlike the First LEGO Movie where there were still plenty of sets that never made it to set form. The LEGO Movies have gained a great reputation, but in time, I feel like LEGO has just used this to gain more sales instead of making better movies. Like every time they have a theatrical relased movie, the sets are almost guaranteed to sell well. In my opinion, movies should be movies, and LEGO sets should be LEGO sets. We don't need movies whose main purpise is to sell toys rather then be good. This is also the reason the Cars Movies are regarded as Pixar's lowest point. What do you think about this?

Lego themes that we would like to happen
Lego David replied to YellowCorvette's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well, in the same way, if executed well, LEGO could get away too, since they are the biggest Toy Company in the world, in the same way Pixar is like the 2nd biggest Animation Studio after Disney. So, if they use their creativity and create something that doesn't even feel like it was intended to copy the DC or Marvel superheroes, something great might come out of it. I also think the powers of the Bionicle masks could also inspire the powers of those in-house superheroes. Like, I don't know any superhero out there who has the power to revive dead bodies creating zombies, in the same way Matoro's Kanohi Tryna is able to. See this site for my refrence: https://bionicle.fandom.com/wiki/Tryna- 451 replies

Lego themes that we would like to happen
Lego David replied to YellowCorvette's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I would like to see an in-house Superheroes theme. With super heroes that are not either Batman or Spiderman. Something new, that was LEGO's original idea.- 451 replies

Well... That explains a lot. But still there is that seller from Hong Kong that has like 1100 in his store. Even if he got them at an incredible low price, I still can't see how he managed to get so many of them.
-
I was just looking for Dino Attack Raptors on Bricklink and came across something really strange: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?id=56970#T=S&O={"minqty":"100","iconly":0} Plenty of sellers claim to have more than 400, even 1000 of those! The Dino Attack Raptor only came in two sets with limited release, so it's literally impossible to own so many of them. Alright, maybe you somehow managed to get like 100, but 1000? That's absolutely impossible. Can anyone explain to me how can those sellers own so many of them? Are they even legit?

What happened with Functions/Play Features?

What happened with Functions/Play Features?
Lego David replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well... I guess I was wrong then. But the fact that the Overwatch sets are almost completely functionless was probably what inspired me to make this topic. Seriously, the back of the boxes were just the same as the front of the boxes but with different backgrounds. -
What happened with Functions/Play Features?
Lego David replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well that is the thing. Most of the functions we get now days are just either some kind of launcher/blaster or a detach function. The Spider Man one you mentioned if sort of a exception. So yeah, I know that they are still out there, but I feel like the become less and less common... Gear functions are barely used on rare occasions. -
What happened with Functions/Play Features?
Lego David replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
There may be still plenty of play features, but I noticed how they tend to become simpler nowdays then the complex, large one we used to get. Such as this The Hive Crawler, has (IMO) one of the best functions ever, where when you move it, it's legs move, making it look like it's actually crawling, being an amazing audition to the already great set. Another example The Aerial Defense Unit has the function where you push a button and the twin rotors spin automatically. While this type of function may still be present in Technic sets, I never see it being used in System sets. So, while some functions are still present, they don't add much to the overall set, as compared to the two sets I mentioned above. Larger functions such as those rarely appear nowdays as far as I am aware. -
When I was first watching reviews, I wasn't watching it to know whether the set is good or bad, but rather, I watched them to see what are the set's functions/play features. But I can't help but notice that nowdays fewer and fewer sets have those. Other than basic things such as stud shooters or spring loaded shooters, I barely see sets having functions. When I was a younger, I was very obsesed with functions. I watched whole reviews just to see what are the set's functions. But almost every time I watch a review now, I barely see any functions to the sets besides, of course of the simple ones I mentioned above. Even the bigger sets feature few (if any) of them. I know that most AFOLs don't care about them because they care more about displaying their sets rather than playing with then, but still, they used to be a important part of the sets that added a lot more play value for the kids. Does anyone know what happened?

There are few old themes that I can say I don't like. I am not a big fan of Classic Town, but I actually like World City instead. So yeah, I think it's safe to say that I like old LEGO in general over new LEGO. But there still are some old themes I don't like, of course (I am looking at you Jack Stone and Galidor).
-
Well, I was long done with the new sets. I still purchase Ninjago sets on rare occasions, but for the most part I fully focus on Old LEGO, the LEGO I truly like.
-
Amazing or not, this is surely the case with me. That is the reason you see me complain all the time. And honestly there isn't really that big of a "wide variation" when all I see is just this: Batman Star Wars Marvel other licensed themes Creator City Freinds Ninjago I am hardly interested in any of those besides maybe Ninjago, which as I have stated already, I barely get any sets from.
-
There are plenty of sets that I like (mainly Ninjago), but I don't think they are worth their price tag. Back on the day you were able to get good sets for as little as 10$, but all the 10$ sets nowdays are just a bunch of random side builds and a few minifigures, which I personally don't consider worth the money. Even 20$ can get that status, so every set that would be at least "fine" would be at least 30$. So yeah, instead of wasting my money on something I don't even actually like, I prefer buying old used sets, for prices that I consider good for what I get. But still, looking trough a new catalog, I barely find anything that I would really want to buy even if it was at lower price.
-
Ironically there is nothing in the current LEGO catalog that I consider worth my money. I do still like Ninjago, but still rarely get any of the sets.
-
Which none of achieve the amazing concepts of themes like Mars Mission or Space Police. And usually any other "space toys" are usually Star Wars...
-
No offence, but the Jurassic World sets focus way too much on the Dinosaurs and the vehicles are way too rushed. And let's be honest here. No matter how much you would argue that those sets are good, that doesn't change the fact that the only reason people buy them is because of the Dinosaurs. Dino Attack on the other hand, had fantastic vehicle designs that immediately capture your attention, even if you are not the biggest Dinosaur fan. Am I the only person who thinks that the T-1 Typhoon is the coolest Helicopter ever made by LEGO? I still can't believe it was only 70$ when it looks like something that would easily go for +100$ nowdays. Even Dino 2012 was unique in it's own way with the pretty interesting Yellow theme of the vehicles. Compare that with the bland, generic Jurassic World sets which only use the vehicles as an excuse to sell dinosaurs, when obviously they are the main focus of the set and not the main build itself. Why should I buy something just because it's based on a movie I like? There are plenty of other toys besides LEGO based on the exact same movie (in some cases even the exact same scene). Most of the people who buy LEGO Star Wars only buy it because of the brand, not because it's LEGO. No wonder every time I see a Star Wars fan's room there is always at least a few Star Wars LEGO sets here and there, but nothing else LEGO-related.

Why is 7713 Bridge Walker and White Lightning so expensive?
Lego David posted a topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I was just randomly looking on the Bricklink prices for Exo-Force sets, when I suddenly came upon this set According to Brickset.com, this set originally retailed for 50$, so I was shocked to see that there are currently only two listings on Bricklink, each going for 125$ at the very least. Does anyone know why this set is so rare/expansive? -
I agree here. The Dino 2010 sets are like 2 times cheaper on Bricklink than the Dino Attack ones. And yeah, the vehicles look a lot cooler with the weapons... Dino 2010 kinda lost it's appeal with the 0 weapons, considering how the sets were originally designed to look like military vehicles, they looked kinda strange when all the weapons got removed and replaced with cages that made more or less sense. Star Wars fans usually are into other licensed themes as well such as Harry Potter, Indiana Jones etc, so ending the theme would't really end their LEGO hobby. Compare that with Technic that is a completely different building system, having almost no ties to other themes (except for Mindstorms maybe). So ending this theme would also end the passion of the Technic fans that don't care about system sets. Also, doesn't the same logic apply to me? All the themes that made me a LEGO fan are long gone, yet I am still around hoping that LEGO will someday listen to me (and a lot of other people) and bring those themes back. Yet LEGO doesn't even seem to care.
