Will Hidden Side Age Well?
Lego David replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Atlantis wasn't an just an underwater M-Tron. You still got the awesome sea-monsters... Even a Squid and Leviathan, like in those properties you mentioned above: -

At the very least, it's a lot better than Hidden Side. -

I'd personally much rather have a single wave that's perfect rather than a lot of waves that aren't. -
LEGO Hidden Side 2020
Lego David replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Yeah... despite being made by the same team as Ninjago, they clearly had a lower budget for the visuals... I also hope this upcoming TV show has an actual good story, unlike those YouTube shorts, which seem like they were made to entertain very young kids... -

There is no proof the they lost money with this theme. If the first wave would have "lost money" than the second wave would have been instantly canceled. -
LEGO Hidden Side 2020

If this TV Show is indeed coming, it's kinda late... The TV Show should have been launched at the same time as the sets or earlier... By the time it comes up, the hype for the theme would have decreased a lot. -
LEGO is a company. The reason they exist is to make money. And they certainly wouldn't invest a few millions of dollars without expecting even more money back. Whether that is trough fees or by using BL as a place to sell their own stuff, it's still money that's the biggest motivation.

Maybe from now on you would be required to log into Bricklink useing your LEGO ID account, similar to how you log in on LEGO ideas.

Sorry, I meant smatphones. -
Is there any way to know how much TLG payed to acquire BL? I'm very curious.

I am not sure how I feel about this. LEGO claims that they made this purchase in order to get closer to the AFOLs... but I kinda doubt that's the actual intent. Whenever a company makes a move like this, it's usually for money. I mean, would they really be willing to spend a few millions of dollars just to "get closer to us?" Some good things may result from this, potentially LEGO realizing the demand for Classic Sets, but I also fear that they may also impose bigger taxes to independent BL sellers.

Who Remembers Pharaoh's Quest?
Lego David replied to Max_Bricks's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Pharaoh's Quest is Something unique that we don't really experience nowdays. City and Ninjago have been around for so long that people are starting to get sick of them. Ninjago was definitely very creative in its early years, but now it's more or less recycling ideas from previous waves, just executed in a different way. -

Well yes, but things such as Teenagers with Phones is definitely not a thing that has been around for decades. -
Who Remembers Pharaoh's Quest?
Lego David replied to Max_Bricks's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Pharaoh's Quest is easily a great example of an amazing Action Adventure theme. Despite its limited run with only 6 sets released, it left a huge impact, and it's still greatly remembered today. Though I only got one set during the theme's initial release (7305 Scarab Attack), I still want all the sets to this day, and I am sure I'll get them all eventually. -
Will Hidden Side Age Well?

Yeah, those pieces are pretty much useless now... -
So I think the biggest problem with Hidden Side is that It won't age very well after it will retire. The app will be defunct within two years after the theme ends, and a lot of the theme seems like it's trying to appeal to current trends... So I am curious, how do you think Hidden Side will age after it retires?

Gland I'm not the only one who sees it that way .

Unfortunately, it seems like the Gamer Market is going to be 40$. I hoped it was 30$ or less, but I should have known that they wouldn't put so many minifigures in such a cheap set. No, it's just a normal cowboy hat. (Though it seems to be in a new color)
-
Official Set Pictures just got revealed:
-
The Gamer Market has 9 minifigures. It's the first time we are getting so many minfigures in such a small set! Plus that Large Shuriken piece in Trans Neon Green looks amazing! It would look very good on a Constraction MOC! If the set is 30$ or less, I'm pretty sure I'll get it eventually. The Tuner Car also looks pretty cool, and I love those Trans-Neon Green Blade pieces! Those too would work great for a Constraction MOC!

Where can I see the leaked sets?

When will this new wave of Hidden Side get released? In January or earlier? -

That's awesome! Hopefully the character description on LEGO.com will reveal more about that. -
This came as rather unexpected news: (Skip to 6:00) So it seems like the Star Wars Miniland will be leaving LEGOLAND California in January 2020, and it will be replaced with a different attraction. What are your thoughts? What do you think this means, and what new attraction do you think will replace the Star Wars Miniland?

LEGO Hidden Side 2020
Lego David replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
A LEGO designer (I don't know exactly who) confirmed that Hidden Side won't be a "Big Bang" theme, and unless it proves to be incredibly popular (which so far doesn't seem to be the case) I don't see it getting passed the 4th or 5th wave at best.
