Wow, that's impressive. I haven't seen any build quite like that before!

Lego Ideas 90th Anniversary Fan Vote
Lego David replied to Calanon's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Ok, I get that a lot of AFOLs don't understand the appeal of Bionicle, but I don't think anyone should put it as their least favorite choice at "number 30". That's almost kind of rude to be honest. Are you seriously telling me that it would be better is something like Divers (which just got a new wave in City recently) would be more deserving of an anniversary set that Bionicle, the line that helped a lot into shaping the company into what it is today? -
Lego Ideas 90th Anniversary Fan Vote

No offence, but why do so many people vote for Town and Trains? The whole point of this poll is to get a new set for a currently discontinued line, such as Castle, Space or Pirates. Town and Trains, however, still live on to this day under the City banner. So why are people voting for those? It's not like LEGO is gonna re-release the Town monorail or something. -

Is there anything wrong with new people joining LEGO Ideas in order to vote for the theme they want? As long as they aren't doing fraud votes or stuff like that, I don't see any problem. -

I mean, Pirates also got another wave of sets in 2015, at the same time the Bionicle reboot came out. So with that mentality Pirates should have been excluded as well. In the Bionicle story, there is this thing called the Great Spirt Robot (look it up online, there were plenty of images with him) that never got represented as an official LEGO set. They could very easily just create a large Voltron-style robot set for it, and a lot of Bionicle fans would be more than happy. Here is a custom set idea that someone created, in order to get a better idea of what I mean: -

This whole poll is kind of broken to be honest. Why split all the Castle and Space subthemes when you could unify the fans of those lines together under one single poll choice? On top of that, most of the choices in the poll feel really random to be honest. Time Cruisers? Studios? I know that a lot of AFOLs are nostalgic for those lines as well, but lets be real here, there is no way those semi-obscure one-off lines are gonna win, and even if they did, I don't see how LEGO is gonna realistically make an 18+ set based of them. And finally, arguably the biggest issue is that they are going to make only make one single set based off the results of this poll. Regardless of what theme wins, a lot of people are going to be disappointed more or less. Why can't they just release a series of multiple sets based off popular classic themes? Why does it need to be only one? This entire poll is just gonna turn into a large-scale competition between LEGO fanbases, each of them trying to get their favorite theme to win. -
I mean, yes, TLG has gotten closer to AFOLs in recent years, but this new platform still opens up a lot of new possibilities that previously, we could have only dreamed about. I am already working on a new theme idea to submit to this platform, and I can't wait to get it done and publish it. Didn't yourself say at some point that you would have loved to see a new original detective theme of sorts? Well, now is your chance to pitch your Idea to TLG.

Part-wise and set-wise, mostly. Especially part-wise. The story isn't as fleshed out as Bionicle, but still has a lot of good things about it. At the very least, I would highly recommend getting some Hero Factory parts from Bricklink, they are incredibly useful for MOCs in my opinion.

The lack of Technic elements made it possible for us to get more versatile parts that could very easily be used outside the Bionicle context. And most of the CCBS bones still had technic pin connections on them. Also, keep in mind that Bionicle heavily shifted away from it's Technic roots as time went on, to the point where the change to CCBS felt pretty natural. If you had no interest in Hero Factory, I am sorry, but you missed out on a lot of cool stuff.

You clearly don't know anything about how the theme actually is like, do you? All the things you said are just the common misconceptions that a lot of AFOLs have about Bionicle. -

Bionicle: Am I a joke to you? -
If it's as colorful as the other figures in this line, it's going to be pretty useless, not gonna lie. Which is a real shame, because I was really excited for the new Mermaid tail mold, which looks perfectly useable in other themes. I really hope they re-color that mold in other sets, because the current one that was leaked doesn't look like it's gonna be of much use.

The World Builder project that just got approved is now open for people to pitch their own concept art to: https://tongal.com/project/LEGOHolidaySpecialConceptArtProject#tab-brief If anyone here is good at drawing/concept art, it might be worth it giving this a shot.

It seems like there are some interesting minifigure selections (all of which seem to include new molds), but the prince looks ridiculously high for the amount of pieces included. As a side note, It is now pretty much confirmed that the new Mermaid tail mold that was leaked on Instagram a while back comes from this new line.

LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion
Lego David replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
LEGO never makes any public announcements when it comes to a line getting cancelled, even if it's a licensed one. They just stop producing sets, and that's it. -

Weirdly enough, despite not getting a single set in 2020, it seems like there will be a new Overwatch set in 2021 to coincide with the release of the Overwatch 2 game or something. The set is rumored to be a "Null Sector Giant" a set around 100$. I never played Overwatch, so I have no idea what that is, but maybe some Overwatch fans in this forum can tell us. It's super weird to get another set after not getting a single one in 2020, but with the release of a new Overwatch game I guess it makes sense. -
The Arachnoid Base sounds promising. The other two not so much. I mean come on, don't we already have more than enough Jets from Ninjago? Can't they just for once, take a break from all those vehicles and try out something new?

Very good point. LEGO has become very corporate lately, in the same veins as someone like Disney. Most of their current product lines feel like they were made less out of genuine love and more like they are corporately manufactured. Sure, a lot of the designers put a lot of love and care in the sets they create, but that can't really be said about the corporation who ordered the creation of those products. It doesn't help it either that much like Disney, TLG has now started accquiring other companies, such as Bricklink (believe me, it won't be the last thing they will accquire).

I couldn't agree more. The Belville figures were great in terms of posability.

LEGO just announced that they purchased the first fan-made world from World Builder! https://tongal.com/blog/articles/lego-acquires-first-fan-made-world-for-development-from-lego-world-builder This fan-made theme called "Holiday Heroes" will be the first project from the LEGO World Builder platform to become an official LEGO theme.

Do you think lego will ever realese another space theme
Lego David replied to arealhuman's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I don't think real-world exposures to those subjects really matters at all when it comes to LEGO original themes. You say that if original space themes didn't focus on alien combat, they would be more successful... but that argument is severely flawed. A lot of fans (myself included) love getting all sorts of alien minifigures to fill up our Sci-Fi worlds. And while yes, stuff like the original Classic Space line tended to focus more on exploration than combat, that quickly changed, as soon as the Blacktron faction was introduced. While we wouldn't get any actual alien minifigures until the late 90's, you can clearly see how the focus of Space themes shifted from exploration to pure Science Fiction as early as the late 80's. And if your Space themes are pure Science Fiction, than aliens should be more than welcome. Just because something doesn't exist in the real world, doesn't mean it can't spark the imagination of kids. In fact, I'd even argue that a Space theme that is purely Sci-Fi leaves a lot more room for kids to be creative and make up their own stories and worlds, when compared to something that is inspired by what exists in real life. -
But that argument doesn't really make sense when some of those remakes are literally one or two years apart from each other.

LEGO Ninjago 2021
Lego David replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Agreed. I was just telling people not to expect Ninjago to be a "literal" evergreen theme that will never end, because that simply isn't the case. -
LEGO Ninjago 2021
Lego David replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Then again, Bionicle was also considered an evergreen theme during the peak of it's run, and look were we are today. So, my advice would be to not count on that.
