  1. Yeah, I found that too. I’m almost finished (going to wait till after the Xmas rush to post it) but getting the angles and proportions right has been one problem after another. But I like solving problems, even though solving them often creates new ones. Thanks for reminding me about those curved corner pieces too (I saw you used them in your updated model above) I was trying to remember the piece some people have used for the front of the engines in mods of the official set and that is it, and it fits mine perfectly. Sorry again for all the hassle my comment on your moc caused. I really like it, genuinely. Anything studless/SNOT is an instant thumbs up from me. Ironically I just watched the finale of the Mandalorian season 2 and they show a Tie from the back and the curved corner pieces you used match perfectly with the design I saw on the show. Keep up the top work!
  2. Agreed 100%. And the use of the round corner bricks in the later iteration is really good! I've deleted my other posts in this thread. I certainly didn't want them to cause the uproar that they have.
  3. Very true! It was often said that, had the space shuttle not needed them for gliding in to land, it would never have had wings as they were just dead weight in space, though that in itself is ironic as there is no weight in space.
  4. Hoooo, boy, So this one is still raging. I feel bad that my observation caused so much dissent here. I’ll go on record now with a few things. Swan Dutchman is an absolutely superb builder. Unmatched in many ways. He made Tutankhamen’s mask out of Lego for gods sake! I couldn’t do that if I lived to be a million. Yes, his x wing and tie fighter looked to me like mods being presented as mocs. I pointed out that he should credit Jerac. I don’t actually recall accusing him of ‘stealing’. That’s a pretty strong assessment of my thoughts on Swans moc. If I remember rightly Jerac himself commented in that thread which is probably how Brickvault became involved. And I’m really glad to hear they never actually took legal action and Swan himself took the instructions down amicably. I’ll readily accept here and now that Swan’s creation was his own there as are all of his mocs. Even happy to go back and delete my comments in the thread. DarthMario, I had the same feelings looking at your Tie here, that it’s polite to credit those whose designs inspire. I’ll admit using the words ‘majority of your build’ wasn’t a good choice at all and I can see how the flames started growing. I take it back, really I do. I can see you’ve put in a lot of work here with many iterations and it really is a beautiful model. Don’t take the instructions down and don’t consult anyone either. Of course you shouldn’t need to. Swan is in the know here, I’m not, and if he says Brickvault shouldn’t be a concern to you then that’s the way it is. And if you say your moc is your own and not a mod of anyone else’s that’s good enough for me too. Im sure your instructions are completely different to the Jerac model. I had actually forgotten about this thread until the other day. I’m currently making a razor crest moc and it got me thinking.. how many ways can we really make mocs of designs that already exist?. Moc making is the art and Lego is the medium. We work with the pieces we have and as in the case of your tie, those quarter domes are indeed the best way to achieve the right look. There’s simply nothing better yet. As you yourself said, just using them doesn’t mean you’ve copied someone else who did too. I stopped looking at Razor Crest mocs a few weeks ago so as to hopefully not get influenced by others parts usage but as I’ve been building I’ve been thinking, Will someone else have had the same thoughts I did and used that same wedge piece? Which got me thinking about this thread again. And then I saw I was quoted. So to one and all. Just ignore me. I was not correct on this. This moc of DarthMarios is killer, as was Swan’s. I remain impressed and in awe of the talent I see on this site and hope we can all get along with my big mouth becoming a bit smaller. Peace!
  5. Thanks. :) It's the Imperial Gunner's helmet turned backwards!
  6. Cheers Jerry!
  7. Nah, red and black is a killer combination! Blue and black is just a bit... meh.
  8. I could indeed, I have enough blue pieces... but I’m pretty sure blue wasps don’t exist
  9. Hi all, This is my latest moc, the Red Wasp Stealth VTOL. You may hear it landing but you won’t see it coming! This one came together remarkably quickly from an initial idea I had a couple of weeks ago. It looks like a pretty simple build due to its clean outer shell but actually proved to be quite complex to create, particularly the rotor blade engines, which needed axles running deep into the body of each to support their weight and which also freely spin and adjust between flight and hover mode. For anyone interested, the full album can be found on my Flickr page here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/164260086@N06/albums/72157717218068297 Thanks for looking.
  10. Thanks mate. You too, love that white ship you made that splits in two!
  11. Nice one! Love it. A robot pirate ship... that has a potential Lego ideas entry written all over it ;) Nice story too. I like a good story to go with a moc. Great job!
  12. Thanks buddy :) I actually made it into Brickvaults Top 10 Mocs with this little fella too! It’s at 7:23:
  13. Thanks Jerry, I think the technique originated from a builder called Dylan Lane. It's mega fragile, is an utter pain to work with but looks good!
  14. Hey thanks! I love that appraisal of it, 'an amazing array of fluid shapes'. ?? As for the rockets, I'm a graphic designer by day and love doing stuff like this, so this one wasn't going to escape photoshop unscathed.
  15. Ha! You make a good point. Thinking of buying 2 more domes to dunk in Turmeric now....
  16. The back? Do you mean the front? Where the trans dark blue tiles are? I kind of like it dark there. It's intended to be a section that acts as a force shield and yellow would look too light I think. Its nice to have a strong dark colour defining the front. I could have done it with normal NCS blue tiles but I just preferred the texture the studs gave through the trans blue. Having said that, I agree it would have benefited from some trans yellow somewhere in the build. Such a shame those glass windshield domes don't come in trans yellow. I didn't want to risk staining them with turmeric either as I only have 2 of them so no room for error and I've never done turmeric yellowing before. ?
  17. Every fleet needs a pathfinder, so I made one for mine. This little guy is good for both deep space and planetary atmospheric flight making him the ideal candidate for charting new territories for the fleet to explore. For anyone interested the full album can be found on my Flickr page here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/164260086@N06/albums/72157717063169662
  18. Wow. Just... wow. This is absolutely stunning. The way all those curved slopes fit together on that tapered front section is so well done and aesthetically pleasing. The whole thing is beautiful. Hats off to you mate!
  19. Thanks. Built that one first. It’s my favourite of the two!
  20. Do you mean in Mocs from me? If so.. probably, although I have already made a whole fleet of Neo Classic Space attack craft:
  21. Someone else noted an Atlantis connection in that racer. I hadn’t thought of that but I see it now! :) Thanks, and yes. Yes it is! Thanks, I’d like to say I’m the first to think of making a Classic Space podracer but alas I am not. Though I don’t think it’s been done to this scale or with two racing against each other. Come to think of it, I don’t think anyone has made a Blacktron podracer, though I’m probably wrong on that one too. Thanks. As for their visors, these guys are the toughest spacemen in the universe, they don’t need visors ;) Thanks very much :) Cheers! Me too! :)
