Yeah, micros aren’t my speciality. In fact I’ve found myself getting quite into Classic Space Mocs recently. Got a pretty chunky gunship coming up in that genre in the next few days!
-
That sounds about right. Pretty sure my little micro falcon is about 3 times smaller than yours. You know what? You should think about offering some (or all) of these as a package of instructions like Onecase does with his 3 midi scale star Destroyers! I think he charges $12.99 each or $30 for all three.
-
Damn! this and your falcon together look amazing. They all look pretty amazing actually!
-
Thank you :) Yeah... I kind of might have breathed a tiny sigh of relief... ;) Ha yes indeed. That pesky lego community and their love of gunships ;) and thanks again Kristof, think mines probably too small to be considered proper UCS standard, but I had a good stab at getting halfway between UCS and Midi scale :)

I'm not really surprised, the noise surrounding the gunship option was deafening in the Lego community. Oh well, you could always still build my Nebulon-B :) https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-34757/Rubblemaker/ef76-nebulon-b-escort-frigate-with-micro-millenium-falcon/#comments

Hi all, In completely coincidental timing (with the recent choose your next UCS poll announcement), Legolijntje and I have just completed work on the instructions for my EF76 Nebulon-B Escort Frigate. It kind of fills the market gap for those who would like a Nebulon-B yet can't stretch to the budget or have the space for the multi thousand part models (as stunningly beautiful as builds like Mortesv's are) Its made of 1385 pieces and is (a still pretty respectable) 2 feet long and 1 foot high (58cm long and 30cm high more precisely). ISD Intimidator, Monarch, or Eviscerator?
Rubblemaker replied to Brandon8o's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Every days a school day. I thought because Kershner directed ESB and not Lucas that he hadn’t been around very much during production. So I guess my pic IS relevant to the ESB Star Destroyers after all. -
ISD Intimidator, Monarch, or Eviscerator?
Rubblemaker replied to Brandon8o's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Your model needs no defending. No-one would dispute its a phenomenal model. In fact, if I'm honest, and again I think there are very few who would disagree, its the best looking of the 3 in this thread. I wish it was a few thousand pieces less as I'd build it in a heartbeat. And you achieved something very close to my heart which is to make it as studless as possible. As someone recently said, yours is as close as we'll get to Jerac's Chimeara that we can actually build for ourselves. My point was purely proportional in that canon ISD's were originally conceived as very thin. I'm not referring to Rogue One models and I say 'originally' because in the comparison photo I posted above you can see 1977 George Lucas in the background. That photo was from filming for A New Hope. Though if we were to scale that model to yours as you've done with the Fractalsponge render above it may well be spot on. Also I wonder if they thickened them up a bit for ESB?. Its splitting hairs though in the face of such amazing custom builds of this ship. We're incredibly lucky to have all 4 of them available (if you include the Aggressor). Amazing job on yours, which again I'll say is pretty much at the pinnacle of ISD Lego design. -
ISD Intimidator, Monarch, or Eviscerator?
Rubblemaker replied to Brandon8o's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The tie fighter is the one from the instructions. There are enough for 2 in the parts list plus 2 probe droids but I only built one of each. I've dismantled them both now as I'm too old to actually 'play' with this model. In fact I'm planning to dismantle it and build the Monarch later this year. It cost me £1,362 for about 14,500 pieces. I already had over a thousand pieces in my spares that I could use in it. This was from 6 different sellers on Bricklink. -

ISD Intimidator, Monarch, or Eviscerator?
Rubblemaker replied to Brandon8o's topic in LEGO Star Wars
They are all beautiful but I’m afraid for accuracy the Monarch destroys them all. Star Destroyers are very thin, almost razor like. The Aggressor, Intimidator and Eviscerator (god that’s a mouthful to write them all out) are all much too thick. With the aggressor that’s down to the interior bulking it out, with the other two I’d imagine it’s down to the hefty technic skeletons strengthening such massive builds. Of course this may play against the Monarch over time, in pictures it does look like the bottom plates droop a bit at the front, but so do they all if you look close enough. Onecase is known for his attention to proportional accuracy and he nailed it with both the Monarch and Nemesis. Here’s my proportion comparison with my Nemesis build and the original studio model, and bear in mind the Monarch is just a scaled up version of the Nemesis (or vice versa): -
Thanks very much, yeah I thought that about blue and orange too. A re-invention of the Classic Space colour regulations is strongly overdue ;) Hmm, retro! I like it. :) Thanks I've been building Star Wars ships for what feels like forever. I needed some colour in my life after all that grey!

Benny takes his new ship 'The Sea Separator' down to explore an undiscovered alien water world. A planet of red flaming rocks, pink plants and green seas. On Christmas day I was messing around with some blue pieces and I put the sea craft together. I had the idea pretty quickly to place it on an alien planet. A few bricklink orders later (mainly for those damn green tiles which I never seemed to have enough of) and I ended up with this. The colours of the craft aren't exactly faithful to Classic Space but I knew I wanted that as my theme anyway, hence.. Benny. [MOC] Imperial Star Destroyer - The Eviscerator
Rubblemaker replied to 2mpaired's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah, but that’s the Aggressor, the 15,000 piece one. That one is entirely practical for most people to build (I know because I’ve built it.. in real lego) and was created solely for that purpose. We’re talking about the really big isd’s here. The Tyrant is 35,000 pieces and the Chimeara (Jerac’s) is 40,0000. Way too impractical for most people, not that that stops people from thinking these things are easy to make and requesting instructions.- 169 replies

[MOC] Imperial Star Destroyer - The Eviscerator
Rubblemaker replied to 2mpaired's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Lol, well I don’t believe instructions exist so I guess not. But how many people would actually be able to afford or even have the skill to build it? Let alone store it. It’s enormous and would cost a small fortune! its a bit like Raskolnikovs Tyrant. People look at these things and think, yeah I’ll build that, with absolutely no comprehension of the scale of the undertaking. Most of them wouldn’t even be able to build these things if they tried and would give up through impatience after the first few months.- 169 replies

[MOC] Imperial Star Destroyer - The Eviscerator
Rubblemaker replied to 2mpaired's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Jerac’s uses a very different technique as far as I can see. This one is based on the use of tiles over plates and the barest minimum of wedge plates to have as few studs as possible. But the studs are still there so although it’s an incredible build, it’s Lego construction is impossible to hide.... which is something Jerac did manage to do by using the snot technique of bricks on their side. His was about twice the size of this one. You’d be hard pushed to find a stud on his isd (if you’re not counting the greebling of course) I’m sure I read somewhere that he said this actually played against it whereby people didn’t realise it was Lego and just thought it was a giant plastic kit (and therefore didn’t fully appreciate the achievement). You wouldn’t get that with this model as it looks like a Lego isd (albeit an Impressive one and an amazing effort to reduce the stud count) Some people prefer studs of course but personally I like to hide them as much as I can so I doubt anyone will make something that looks better than Jerac’s Isd unless Lego start producing wedge tiles in the same shapes as their wedge plates. Which they probably never will. :(- 169 replies

Where on the back does it show the folding wings? And you say at the beginning it has 4 minifigs, none of which are in the set. Then you go on to say there are 3 minifigs in it.

Thanks. :) the white engines... yeah.. :/ they were my attempt at replicating the effect seen here: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/EF76_Nebulon-B_escort_frigate/Legends?file=NebBengines_btm.jpg Not easy to do with Lego but I tried ;) As for instructions, if I could I would. I really need to teach myself how to use Stud.io or LDD. That’s one of my plans for 2020 actually so I may well rebuild this in digital and produce instructions for it as my first project. Great ideas all round. One of the main rules I imposed on myself when making this was to not look at any other Mocs of this ship, so any similarities are genuinely coincidental. I’ve since looked at a few and noticed some people use wedge plates as you’ve suggested. They do look cool. I think for me my stubborn intent to have as few studs visible as possible, along with an excess of LBG tiles and a lack of LBG wedge plates in my spares determined how that section came out! As for those pods at the front, I agree, I really wanted to colour match them but I couldn’t find the curved wedges I used for the bridge in sand green or a tan version of the cone section lower down :( -
Hi all, I've just finished work on a moc of the amazing EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate. Its such a complex ship to look at that I didn't think I'd get very far on it to be honest, but it turned out to be surprisingly Lego-friendly. The model is made of about 1,100 pieces and is 58cm long and 30cm high. It took me about a month to design and build it. It has an L-shaped technic structure inside which makes it pretty strong and I can easily carry it around by holding the mid section connecting tube. For anyone interested the full album can be found on my flickr page here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/164260086@N06/albums/72157712097621513/with/49181413701/ Here's a few pictures from it: Thanks for looking.
