  1. Are you planning to use all those leftover pieces for something on the truck. Nice truck btw. I agree this should have been official.
  2. It sure is a nice crane but considering how long it takes to build the original i wont be building this anytime soon. Have other stuff to build. As for large Lego cranes, the best option is not telescopic ones but lattice boom cranes like this one. Ok so who will be first to make this into Lego. http://www.liebherr.com/en-GB/143610.wfw I'm guessing that combining 42009 with 42006 should work quite well. Ok thought all of it was new but found the product page so maybe those kinds of cranes have been made before. It was just the 1220 model that was new i guess.
  3. http://www.bricklink...em.asp?S=5206-1 I have it but haven't used it much lately. With sariels gear calculator and philos work i don't have to.
  4. Thanks for the link to the palfinger. That will help me with a moc of mine. Nice tail lift. I don't think unimogs have those, but someone will probably point of i'm wrong. No matter if you get more parts you should consider building a box so it looks like the big trucks that deliver stuff to stores. Kinda like this http://www.flickr.co...157623475432877
  5. It should automatically update the bricks. My installer is doing that now after first downloading the new file. And as i was typing it's done. Lol creature head 1 and 2. Looks like number 1 (turtle heads) aren't in bricklink or the number is different from LDD. Never mind found it under 12607pb05
  6. Obviously I didn't think about commenting on tipping but of course it should be able to tip. Let's not start a discussion again regarding the mechanics though. I for one could go with a gear rack built to length. Would be stronger than "other" solutions and more fun since you would build a moving part instead of just inserting it into the chassis. Edit Yep i can agree on sets need complexity but i really have my doubts about those prices. $200 i believe is about the limit unless it has some really nice electric stuff in it.
  7. Let's see here. 4 PF-motors and probably a servo in an already large model. Even assuming that the receiver could handle it, which i doubt, the price would make the crane look cheap. No any really large set would have to be low on electric components or very few will buy it. A non-rc mining dumper in flagship scale would be really neat though. If only because of the wheels and the probably large amount of panels used to build the dump bed.
  8. Well that sucks. Good thing they helped you quickly. I wonder just how big the problem is, i mean the crawler has been sold for a year now. Shouldn't this have been solved earlier or did they recently switch supplier?
  9. If these parts have quality problems, what about the 3 sets that have them. Crawler, Boss and crane. Can we be sure that whatever motors come with those sets will work. I mean if a were to buy the crawler then it would be on a shelf somewhere and made earlier, or does it only affect newer part not made yet. Those other 2 sets are weeks away from being released, can they? Hopefully the danish can give a better answer.
  10. I voted earlier for not getting the set but then i made the mistake of reading rm8:s review and now i want it. What made me change my mind was the fact that i have been thinking about getting the original crawler or maybe at least the loose motors when available. Then i read that the Boss will cost as much as the first crawler and not i lot more that i had thought i would and now i think i want it. Sure i want the crane as well but i can wait with that a few months if need be. As for the crawler selling out it does worry me since i don't know if i will afford it when it's first released yet i voted for it to sell out in 1-2 months just because of the high price. I doubt it will be in a week. Also i think that one per household with the possible exception for rm8 should be the rule because i hope that whoever buys this will at least use the parts if only in mocs or for displaying the model not just letting the whole set sit unbuilt. Me i'll probably keep the model built and then just borrow the electric stuff for mocs.
  11. While i'm totally getting the crane, from an engineering perspective i'm almost more interested in the tow truck. It has so many functions yet not that many pieces. < 2000 parts models is what i would prefer. With motors they can cost a lot anyway. Big models are cool but as someone trying and failing at building big mocs i know just what limitations the material poses as the unimog proves. Speaking of cars i'd rather see a regular car instead of yet another super car. It can still have the parts suggested by allanp but not be a super car.
  12. Thank you for this merman. Now i've got something to pass the time.
  13. The Boss will most likely be more expensive than the Crawler so i doubt that it will sell out that fast. Then again i could be wrong. I wont be getting it though. As for the crane i will wait until some webshop in sweden has it because they are usually cheaper than S@H and i can wait that long. Only one store lists it so far but it's not in stock.
  14. Yeah i'm quite sure that 42003 is just a placeholder for what's now called the Boss crawler. It was said in this or some other thread. BTW i didn't think that these sets would be out for another month. Not that i mind. Now i just need to wait until s@h in sweden has it.
  15. 74 or 87% depending on whether i ignore colors. But i'm still getting it so it doesn't matter. Funny thing, even with that set and ignoring colors i would still be missing 11 pieces to build 8258.
  16. If so then motorizing the slew separately shouldn't be too hard. Just one more clutch so to spare the gear train for the stabilizers.
  17. Oh so many pieces. 12 large gear racks, 5 16L axles and a 32L one plus a ton of other stuff. I'm so getting this set.
  18. I like it but will get the crane first and later see if i can afford this one. BTW i thought that the set included one big and one small pneumatic cylinder, but looking at these pictures i realized that it's one big and one small. Not sure where i got the idea for one big but i have been trying to see the cylinder that extends the arm on earlier photos but couldn't see it because i thought it would be a big one. Not that it really matters. As far as parts goes it seems like a great value for those looking to start a collection. I mean LA:s and pneumatics with motor and pump. Also i must have missed it but i just realized that this set seems to have a motorized winch. It can be seen clearly on the back of the box. Yep i just looked at earlier photos and it was there. I must be blind.
  19. Wow that's a nice mod. While i do have all the old pneumatic parts i might try this sometime just to know how it moves with the newer parts. I wonder if there's room for a compressor.
  20. Oh that's looks so expensive. When can i buy it.
  21. I agree with you on the B-model for 8421. Sure it's a big set but there should still have been a proper B-model and not just a new superstructure. I sure hope 42009 changes this. The truck with crane posted a few pages ago would fit nicely. Well any generic truck closer to 8285 and 8258 rather then a crane truck like 8421 and the A-model. Now it will probably be some sort of crane but if not then a garbage truck would be nice and could use many of the LA:s. But i don't see enough panels to build that.
  22. Congrats rm8. Not sure if i will pick one up though. So many other nice Technic sets this year.
