  1. I wonder what they'll actually do for the 15th anniversary stuff. The two 14+ ones are probably gonna be a UCS Bounty and Monastery but I feel most of the iconic older sets were already redone with Legacy.
  2. I think it's funny everyone here saying how suspiciously good this slightly worse than the standard PPP is. Says a lot about how low expectations are Little bit humourous, I perhaps may have laughed. I think it's funny how personal people take these Superhero cinematic universes when the best of any of them is like a seven out of ten.
  3. I'm very confused here, yes Castle sets generally are based around medieval structures and vehicles but they don't have any more a formula than any current evergreen LEGO themes, Ninjago, Star Wars and especially Superheroes sets all blur together so often. I can kinda see the pirates themes blending into eachother but castle sets have evolving shaping so much over the years and waves like Fantasy Era and Knight's Kingdom 1 are so distinct from so many other ones. I mean just look at the past five years and the assorted castle sets there. I mean even if you still think they all look the same this entire thing is a tangent from your original point. That somehow utilising the vague concepts of these themes would somehow shackle new designers to old themes aesthetics when that's not how it's ever worked. Even direct reboots of existing themes like with Space Police 2 and 3 or Knights Kingdom 2 the Aesthetic is completely different. Using sandbox themes wouldn't limit creativity, I don't think it's inherently more creative than some other options but it is by definition less limiting I mean yeah, Classic Space means one thing but no-one said Classic Space here, just general space. Like for most people on here City Space 2024 with the occasional throwback Icons set was what they wanted and they enjoyed it. Those who didn't just want a more sci-fi original Space theme.
  4. Little confused by this, like of all the valid criticisms you're saying that the issue is the broad concepts of "Space", "pirates" and so on are too limiting? This isn't like specifically asking for more Bionicle where there's a set aesthetic, set characters and set lore they need to work in these are the broadest concepts possible, if LEGO designers couldn't think of anything interesting for these then that'd be embarrassing. There's no interesting answer here, LEGO's original stuff is more interesting, yes, and I'm sure done well but the funko pop model they have now appeals to a much wider audience of people who wouldn't buy it otherwise. Also, not that they don't do it with original themes, they can really take the piss with pricing when there's a brand involved. Still not getting over how here have been like half a dozen Marvel and Star Wars set in the 50-120 range that are just shitty grey plates with a bunch of half assed minifigures with only couple even being ones people care about. Though I should say while what I said above is true I don't get people who say this stuff as a defence. Like if someone doesn't like the direction LEGO's taken going "it makes sense for the shareholders though" isn't actually a rebuttal. Like yeah it makes sense for Disney to keep doing live action remake a financially, I don't care about if it makes financial sense though because I have no attachment to a corporation so I don't care if they make marginally less money. I think obviously those worried about "creativity" should just take the themes they like and make MOCs for them, it's fun and more creatively stimulating that just buying sets.
  5. No, that was fake but this time it's definitely real like Bionicle G3 and the Tower of Fate set
  6. GUYS! LEGO Indiana Jones is actually coming back in 2027! It'll be part of a long line of revived themes they're doing that year along with Bionicle, Vidyo, Galidor, Dimensions and Angry Birds
  7. So if Rebooted retconned it so the snakes were always good and just wanted to save everyone doesn't that make the anti-snake "take back Ninjago" rally from the great devourer episode like a race riot
  8. So what you're saying is if I just become part of the one percent I could single handedly get Lego to do the "Oops, all Dummy's" CMF by single handedly spending billions on the series
  9. Dummy brings all wayward souls back where they belong, in this case it's the padded walls of the aslume
  10. Well it's nice we get a good one at least
  11. HE IS! Good work Mr Imposter, he is also a friend
  12. I know it's better but I still don't like it. I've not used pick a brick for castle figs but with CS it was like that with the orange astronaut parts for ages. I'd be happy to be very wrong about this though
  13. He was in the first, he was a masterbuilders who's repeatedly shown in Cloud Cuckoo Land. He's to the left of the stands directly Infront of Emmet with characters like the Hazmat Guy, Ghost, Red Space guy (!) and Michaelangelo around him. There's a bit in the background there are a few gags in the background with him like him accidentally running into Michaelangelo's nunchucks while panicking or disassembling himself when he finds out Emmet is a hack fraud. He is the last masterbuilder captured by Lord Business and put in the think tank along with the El Macho Wrestler and his cell is too the top right of the screen Emmet watches while captive. He's later prominently seen mourning Emmet next to Superman. He makes an appearance in the background of the real world segment but I can't remember where. He didn't return for any subsequent LEGO movies as the behind the bricks featurette showed severe Dummy abuse took place on set This is all from memory btw
  14. You see I didn't consider that, that is very wise but I don't think we were tripping that day
  15. I hate new factions/Space colours being released this way. We get one of each in a single large set then a few months later they go up on bricks and pieces for a couple days max before being all bought up, the pieces will be put back up a couple times with the same results then when they're bought up for the last time the figures are 30 quid on bricklink
  16. Shame, liked the ravens a lot
  17. Like Batman Scarecrow? Does he make the grass change colours? That's fair though tbf we had to rent out the location, we'd lose the deposit if we dyed it all
  18. Never heard of it, I knew this was how you represented my Dummy figures but them positioned with cheese just created a story Oh of course, it's completely obvious from the build. Anyways here's a LEGO Movie storyboard with a sketch of the dummy
  19. Exactly, he's so polite Do you think the grass should be purple?
  20. Exactly, as said before he's not big on high society , he'd much rather spend a night bowling than at a gala. The fact he was willing to make such a brief appearance at all says a lot about his great selflessness. Is it supposed to be that imposter guy, I don't know if I buy he's Turtle, but I've been wrong about that before so maybe I'm just too trusting
  21. It really does look that accurate, isn't a daily routine though. Dummy usually just takes a bus. He was feeling quirky that night. Great work as always @Mandalorianknight, it's a fun display with a lot of personality
  22. A good fair would summon The Dummy, I think the last three are more for style than anything. You offer him funnel cake and bumper cars and he's there
  23. Yeah, think it's fair to say it was likely true for the first period, it's a question for all subsequent ones, and of course whatever agreements they did have would have also been altered I imagine after the big shift in management when George Lucas sold his company. If there was some embargo now I doubt it's because of movies because they haven't released a movie in years! I think the belief that Space themes are worked around SW movies doesn't work. If I were gonna give the most benefit of the doubt belief on how SW could still be a factor in a direct way then the most plausible theory for the timeline of this would be initially this was a part of their agreement, later renegotiations dropped this, then maybe once Disney became a factor the new negotiations put a similar limitation on them as there's not been any space theme after the Disney merger room affect for LEGO after a good few years of consistent Space themes from 2007 to 2013. Not enough evidence to say it with any conviction but that makes more sense to me then a wishy washy "can't release in a year with a movie unless it's animated" thing. Still more like than not it's just an indirect effect of LEGOs priorities changing over time
