The castle has been teased in the video annoucement for the Delorean in March 2022 the 17th (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POMPopOphZA) and Promobricks revealed details via a sketch a month later in April 2022 the 20th (https://www-promobricks-de.translate.goog/lego-10305-ritterburg-alle-details/144159/?_x_tr_sl=de&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp). It was not an official concept art or picture but a drawing from an "eye-witness".

LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Khargeust replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Like all their pseudo-luxurious 18+ black boxes. It's a G-string so they don't have to recognize they don't care anymore. When you look at the wonderful locker boxes of the 80' a & 90', what a loss ! -
The box plays an important role in the LEGO experience, at least was playing. Even today I remain absolutely amazed by the boxes of the 80s and 90s (the ones I knew). A real craftsmanship was at work with a locker box that you could open and where you could discover various elements encrusted in a plastic mould, a very illustrative background sometimes increased by a narrative context inviting to invent his own stories and what to say about the back of the boxes that was richly provided with alternative models... All this contributed to a strong invitation to travel. A certain magic that now is lost. From this point of view, packaging of today are a real regression. There is a semblance of a retro vibe with the boxes of "recent old sets" and I quite like it. But how can you love today's boxes, especially those aimed at an adult audience? They are unparalleled laziness and above all very ugly. Just see the one that got leaked from the next UCS X-Wing, what an horror!

Do you think it will get a vintage packaging like the other recent retro sets ?

Power to classic themes !

According to Brickset, looking at Castle theme, 6085 Black Monarch's Castle and 6086 Black Knight's Castle are two of the five highest rated sets (with 4.7/5, like 10000 Guarded Inn, 475 / 6075 Yellow castle and 3739: Blacksmith Shop) and enjoy high popularity when looking at the number of reviews as well as the number of people claiming to own the sets (much more like these last three ones). No doubt they are not as iconic as the gray castles of the 80' but if we follow data on the website they are very close behind ! If LEGO were to make only one big castle as part of an anniversary set, this one in my opinion had to be gray. Now, if there is any plan to make another one in the future, they have to make a black one ! For the 100th anniversary of the brand ? I hope before !

I think that would be great! Who would have seriously imagined the return of the Lion Knights, Black Falcons and Forestmen two years ago? Admittedly, these three factions are arguably the three most popular of the classic era and LEGO may wish to rely solely on them with maybe future sets, but who knows, Black Kights and Dragon Masters are pretty iconic also after all and their popularity among the poll is solid... So, just Imagine !

Stonewars is very reliable ? Sorry, I'm not really in the leaking business.
-
The same for me. After the recent release of 21322 and 31109, this is perfect timing for people who want to collect the Pirates theme. Old pieces and figurines are expensive, although they are emblematic of the charm of their release period. I don't think we'll see the return of the raised basplate given current LEGO standards. And in any case I don't know if it's a good thing or not insofar as it leaves more freedom but at the same time it "artificially" inflates the amount of pieces used upwards.

Disney Properties 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Nothing on the potential Snow White and the Seven Dwarves cottage set ? -
I find Majisto's Magical Workshop quite strange with its open roof. Can't wait to see how they will modernize it if it's really this one. I think it's a good thing that they are reissuing a vintage set from Castle as a GWP. More Castle can only be a good thing. Even if I would not have chosen this one because I'm not really into this Castle subtheme, I would take everything from that approach especially if there is the possibility of reitroducing "new" classic factions.

I hope that the validity of the rumor will be confirmed quickly. I think about it all the time!

I take advantage of your publication to ask averyone opinion about this : recently Brickset asked its Internet users which classic set should be re-imagined for a gift-with-purchase and 6265 Sabre Island won (https://brickset.com/article/92105/result-which-classic-set-should-be-re-imagined-for-a-gift-with-purchase). Do you think that this kind of initiative influences LEGO to the point of leading them to meet the expectations of voters? P.-S. : I voted for 6755 Sheriff's Lock-Up (third position of the results) because I love this set and I dream of seeing the return of a theme inspired by the Wild West, but I might as well have voted for all the other sets as I am a fan of this era of the golden age of LEGO. Without stickers of course... Hum.

Do you think it will include the lightnings accessories of the emperor ? Maybe a robe piece with slop for him like for Elrond and Gandalf in the Rivendell set ? -

If this is confirmed, I hope it will be a mix between UCS and MBS, i.e. a balanced set between detailed miniature scale barge, with Sarlacc's Pit and two Desert Skiffs, but especially a large batch of miniatures, 20-25 would be ideal. I hope Leia in her dedicated outfit would be included... It could be a masterpiece of (dis)play. -
Where is the LKC (10305) ?
-
I don't understand this argument. I don't need a label to know which set I should feel drawn to. There is already a selection of segmented marketing in relation to the price and the number of pieces, I do not see the point in addition to distinguishing these sets with such packaging, especially this one. In my opinion, this way of forcibly and forcefully separating sets for children and sets for adults breaks the original magic of the LEGO experience. Isn't it supposed to be universal ? For the staff, they already know the products and therefore are able to direct potential buyers towards certain sets rather than others according to their tastes. The packaging from the years before 2000 or even before 2010, strictly speaking, was a real invitation to travel, with often a scripted context (I am thinking of Pirates, Castle, Adventurers for example), pretty colors and illustrative background, and cardboard boxes in the form of small collector cases that you can observe for hours. That was real luxury! The packaging was very elaborate and was an integral part of the LEGO experience. For me, today packaging does nothing good, and only invites us to throw it in the trash, except for the recent 90th anniversary sets of the toy brand that I love looking to. Bonus: black cardboard leaves fingerprints visible! I have a different opinion about this kind of bags, because they are often all monochrome with no illustration except the brand logo, and for once I find that it works quite well even if I'm not particularly a fan of it. Of course I understand LEGO's marketing strategy with its Adults Welcome approach. I just think there is a loss from an aesthetic point of view compared to what they used to do a few years ago. It's good to focus on the sets as such, but I think the care taken with the packaging is not to be overlooked as it is part of a larger experience. The box is the first relation to the set and a box that is pleasing to the eye, in harmony with the set it contains, is important to me. There will be no nostalgia in the future for their adult packaging. And there will be a good reason for that! I take bets!

Do you think LEGO will ever stop those ugly black packaging for 18+ sets? I can't stand it anymore, all boxes look lazy, cheap and lifeless.

Khargeust replied to BrickJagger's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I see you point but it was more than 14 years ago ! Can we really see this potential set as an add on ? It's more to join the LKC as the designers could not finally include it in the project. The first medieval market was to join the fantasy subtheme of the moment as you can see the inclusion of two soldiers the faction of this era. -
The last question at the end of the video : "NO COMMENT" on whether there will be new LOTR sets. They would love it though. Who really decides on this kind of possibility at LEGO?
