  1. I must also admit that LEGO has a lot to do with my renewed interest in Tolkien's universe. As a child I had discovered it with the release of the Peter Jackson films, I was marked forever by these movies, especially the first one. Then the miniatures to paint and play from Games Workshop, and the books of course... The announcement of a possible big LEGO set a few months ago increased the excitement since I had missed the sets released ten years ago. And since Rivendell's reveal, that's all I think about! I watched all the episodes of the Rings of Power series which I found to be okay. No longer having the books, I ordered The Hobbit yesterday to read it again and get back into the mood. With the announcement of future projects related to the agreement between Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema I'm more excited than ever that this encourages LEGO to release sets from Tolkien's universe!
  2. I'm sure it will be an MBS and not a UCS because we haven't had a giga play set since the 2020 release of the Mos Eisley Cantina, and also because there are currently enough large UCS ships available (plus the X-wing that is coming in may). They're going to go even further with something bigger. Jabba's Sail Barge or an Endor set. I don't see anything else that sticks in terms of timing.
  3. Finally, can't it be Minas Morgul rather than the Tower of Orthanc ? But the graphic design remains strange.
  4. In this video interview with some of the designers of the Rivendell set, there is something interesting about the absence of Gimli's double battle axe. Indeed at the end they are asked if they regret not having included an element. The issue of Gimli's weapon is discussed, as it is not present in the set for various reasons, including whether he already has it or not at this stage of the adventure. Anyway, Mike Psiaki claims in this video that, if LEGO LOTR sets continue, he hopes there is a chance to bring it. Exciting ! When we look closely at the film (i put the timer) we see that he arms himself with the double battle axe in Balin's tomb after the troll explodes the tomb : Also, I don't know about you but I find that the different maps that are present in the set in the form of stickers put the emphasis on Barad-Dûr. And we also know that LEGO likes to announce future sets through more or less hidden details... By the way why Orthanc is located in Mordor on the sticker ???
  5. Indeed, he insists on this possibility at the end of the video where he transcribes what the LEGO team would have entrusted to him. I hope it's not a bluff and that the brand has every intention of continuing the LOTR/Hobbit adventure if Rivendell sells well.
  6. I think it is the good way to go, waiting if Barad-Dûr is around the corner or not ! ;-)
  7. I prefer reviews with text and photos. I often visit Jay's blog and find the reviews excellent. Here is his review, you can see Rivendell next to the 10305 Castle, Orthanc Tower and the Helm's Deep sets: https://jaysbrickblog.com/reviews/review-lego-10316-the-lord-of-the-rings-rivendell/ I'm so hyped ! If I don't take it immediately I will take it with certainty at the end of the year with double VIP points / good GWP, and why not save for two copies over the long term if the madness takes me ! I sincerely hope that the set will be a hit and that we will have a lasting return to the theme with lots of sets of different formats. Let LEGO hear us !
  8. Do you think Rivendell set will sell good ?
  9. If Snow White Cottage is finally released, do you think the dwarves would have classic heads or specific moulded heads ?
  10. Is it an official statement from LEGO ?
  11. Like you comrade, when I look at all those great sets and figurines released in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit themes a decade ago, I can't help but admire and want them all. The prices on the secondary market are frightening as they are inaccessible. Too bad for us... I so hope that the release of the massive Rivendell set will allow the lasting return of the universe. Can it be like Harry Potter with the release of the huge Hogwarts castle in 2018 and many sets after that until today? Also, does anyone know the dimensions of Rivendell's box?
  12. He already made a video on Rivendell ! https://youtu.be/yYAnQ2d3U4g
  13. What is about the White Snow Cottage ? Is it planned for this summer ?
  14. I forgot to say how disappointing I find the box. LEGO really needs to stop with its lazy, lifeless black visuals. I was expecting a specific backdrop a bit like the 90th anniversary castle; but no. I understand the idea of wanting to make "luxurious and adult packaging", but personally that doesn't appeal to me and even puts me off.
  15. I think I'm going to give the dwarves the shorter legs for more realism.
  16. Here are some impressions of the Rivendell set I want to share. As it is always difficult to point out what is right rather than what is wrong, I will be more talkative about the criticisms although I love the set. The good : - First, the return of the theme itself. I was in my dark ages when the LOTR and The Hobbit sets came out. When I got interested in LEGO again two-three years ago, the different minifigures and sets were already too expensive to look for. So I see this return as an indirect opportunity to get my hands on a universe that I missed. We will see if this release is followed by others, in any case it is already a chance to be contemporary with this set. - The choice of colors and the architecture which transcribes well the atmosphere of the place. - Nice balance between display set and play set. - All of the Fellowship of the Ring miniatures! - New molds and new prints. The bad : - The price. No doubt the large number of small parts artificially increases the price. But I still can't see where the 6167 pieces are. For such an amount, something is missing, a good third if not half of additional surface / builds... - The fact that the back of the set is open. A second building half is missing so that the central building can be completely closed off at the rear. This was an opportunity to make a solid building with this light inversed V-shaped roof in the style of Roman architecture. Thus, in my opinion the set can only really be exposed from the front contrary to what one of the lifestyle photos of the set suggests where the set is exposed from the back, the rendering is really awful... Back of the set looks a little cheap with these paintings inaccessible to miniatures. Something is missing. We could have imagined more living rooms as well as a complete hall with a spiral staircase. Should I seek to acquire a second copy for this purpose? Aaah... Help! - The stunted trees on the right side. In general trees could have more branches and leaves. - The selection of minifigures is good but I would have preferred 3-5 more characters, let’s say 5 (additional elves, dwarves and humans), but in this case it would have been necessary to increase the surface of the board with more chairs. The statue figurines are a good addition but they do not count as real figurines in my opinion because they are not animated, it works more like a background. We could also have expected their headdress to be elvish as the "living" minifigures. - The hairstyle of the elves. If it works well on its own, I find it a shame that it is generic and that it is intended for all elf characters. When we compare with the exclusive headdresses of the old figurines of Elrond or Arwenn, we deplore a loss. For example Legolas would have deserved a singular hairstyle, the generic headdress does not suit him so much as his front strands are too wide and also because his cheekbones have disappeared. - The presence of stickers. For me it is indisputable, they should not exist, quite simply. Despite everything, it remains a must have for me, but I will not buy it without double VIP points or with a discount. I am thinking of my local lego store which is not an official one but which nevertheless offers -15% on a receipt the week of our anniversary which is equivalent to a VIP Points x3 with automatic reduction, so the set would going to be 425€, which still seems too expensive to me but I could hardly have it cheaper because the product will remain exclusive like the 90 year old castle. So, I'm going to take my time to acquire it, hoping that sales will be good, however, and that we see plenty of other sets appear afterwards, little ones or big ones. As I have already expressed it a little earlier here, I will be especially enthusiastic about the idea of a huge Bag End version of The Hobbit with all the dwarves of the Thorin or a Moria diorama (staging the confrontation with the cave troll or the Balrog).
  17. Can we realistically envisage in the future the appearance of a big Bag End set with all the characters of Thorin's Company? Or should I now turn to the secondary market in order to acquire the figurines (which are overpriced)?
  18. Thank you. If you check the beginning of the Bricksie video it seems that the box has the same dimensions as the Lion's Knights Castle. It looks like it is shipped in the same cardboard box. Am I right ? I know Rivendell has lot of small pieces but is it possible that it has the same box as the castle with approximately 2000 thousand pieces more ?
  19. When can we expect the first reviews ? I know that ambassadors are silenced for a while each time.
  20. It was obvious from the start it would be à portion of Rivendell with iconic spots and not a full Rivendell at minifigure scale. How can People have imagine that at this price tag (that is already huge by the way) ?
  21. It could not be in full minifigure scale for "so few" pieces and price in today's LEGO standards.
  22. It looks like everything is printed, am I right ?
  23. So what about continuing the Space theme with an upcoming new subtheme ? It's been 10 years since Galaxy Squad was released... Do you think that day will finally come or are the classic themes, like Castle and Pirates, definitely dead, and can only marginally return in the form of anniversary sets for example ? Yes I know, huge debate...
  24. Why using stickers LEGO, why ?!
