  1. I don't know enough about motorcycles to recognize the exact model offhand, but I searched around a bit and I think we're looking at a 2019 Fat Boy 107. Anyone more knowledgeable care to correct me or confirm?
  2. Aw, that's really cool, thanks for sharing! A couple weeks ago when I was at my city's Pride, at one point I found myself thinking how much I would enjoy a "Fun at the Pride Parade" people pack - or at least, say, some new rainbowy minifig prints generic enough to make their way into various City and Creator sets. Though of course, something as simple as a house set with a kid and their dads/moms would be just as welcome.
  3. Here I was thinking this set would be a pass for me, but seeing the finished product, I like it quite a bit more than I thought I would! The option of autumn leaves is a very nice touch, and they're made of the plant-based plastic! Seeing that, I actually kind of wonder if the opportunity for another high-profile set featuring Plants From Plants was a factor in it passing review.
  4. You're disappointed that a set is reusing parts. Nobody is hurting you.
  5. Oh, that new baseball torso is gonna sell fast in the Cincinnati store.
  6. I think my top pick for HBP would actually be Ron in his Quidditch keeper uniform. Not essential, but it'd just be a fun variant to have.
  7. Welp, that's the most compelling argument so far. I think I'm sold.
  8. I see no problem with con exclusives, but also, why is this even being discussed when there's been no indication the Harry Potter theme is getting one? Anyway. I rewatched Prisoner of Azkaban today to get hyped for tomorrow's US release of the new wave - I'm definitely getting the Knight Bus and Hogwarts Clock Tower, but I'm still on the fence about Hagrid's Hut. Convince me to get it.
  9. That's all I'm really hoping for. Like maybe integrating the gift card and VIP systems. And since I'd really love to work at a LEGOLAND park or Discovery Center someday, it would be nice to have the perks I enjoyed as an LBR employee carry over, but that's admittedly pure self interest.
  10. I take it the was not a strong enough indicator of the jesting nature of my comment.
  11. I mean... Deadpool already is just a variant of a character we already have.
  12. Buuut... wasn't the problem there that LEGO themselves were trying to run the parks? That's not what's happening here. This isn't a matter of a toy company buying a theme park company, it's a holding and investment company with a controlling share of a toy company expanding their already-existing share of the theme park company. But that doesn't exactly make for snappy headlines and hot takes.
  13. I really like this idea - desert is the only major biome I can think of that hasn't really been covered by the City theme, aside from maybe a handful of vehicles like 60145 Buggy. And I could see something like recolored 35646s in Medium Azure or Bright Bluish Green as turquoise for some of the "treasure" the explorers might uncover!
  14. I like the purple Rescue; I much prefer it to the blue customs I've seen. So for anyone who hates that figure but still wants to get the set for other parts, I'll be happy to take her off your hands for you.
  15. Ehhh... the whole gimmick of the Primal Age line is that it filters DC characters through the aesthetic of 80's action figures. It's rooted in a very specific sort of nostalgia for that particular toy medium. It would lose what little coherence it has if it were translated into LEGO.
  16. That's going to vary depending on who you ask, based on what they personally value about modular buildings. I'm inclined to agree on Assembly Square, but that's my own very subjective opinion - I like modulars that incorporate multiple different types of spaces, and Assembly Square packs in a café, music shop, dance studio, florist, photography studio, bakery, dentist, and apartment, plus a nice little plaza/fountain. I feel like I get more for my money that way. But including so much variety reduces the space that can be devoted to each section, so others prefer the single-use buildings like the Fire Brigade or Palace Cinema.
  17. Very good points! You could go back even further and say if no risks were taken, we'd be playing with wooden toys instead of plastic ones. Or even no toys at all, and collecting wooden furniture instead!
  18. A year or two ago I remember some scuttlebutt around LEGO considering Scooby-Doo Juniors sets, but I don't know how seriously that was being pursued.
  19. I'd imagine it being his main suit in the LEGO movies has something to do with it - sort of creates this feedback loop where it's a well-known and iconic Batsuit, therefore it's the one LEGO Batman wears, therefore it's a well-known and iconic Batsuit... I'd also point out that the 2012 Superman torso is still in use as well, at least up through last year's Superman & Krypto Team-Up, but just hasn't appeared nearly as many times as Batman. (You could argue that its usage definitively extends to this year since it's in The LEGO Movie 2 - albeit covered in glitter.)
  20. That's such a cool little vignette! Love the forced-perspective effect, and I'll probably have to steal that gargoyle design for a building of my own.
  21. Considering the standard fire subtheme has been on a regular three-year rotation since 2010, I'm assuming this means a revival of the forest fire sets or some other specialized iteration?
  22. My childhood straddled the late-Classic, early-Vintage eras by these definitions. I remember some of my favorite stuff being Space (Blacktron II especially), Paradisa, Aquazone, and some of the very first Pirates sets. I feel oddly fortunate that my Dark Ages coincided with the late 90's/early 2000's era of aggressive-but-sloppy expansion, so I didn't feel like I had missed out on much when I returned to the hobby in adulthood. By the way, have you read the book Brick by Brick by David Robertson and Bill Breen? It offers a lot of great insight into how and why some of those more regrettable shifts came about.
  23. I'm quite happy with the Captain Marvel minifig I already have. I don't mind the one sporting the colors of imperialist oppressors being exclusive. (I love the Goose build though, might need to try piecing that together.)
