  1. The lanyard looks pretty clearly edited onto the picture, not part of the actual torso print. I'm excited for this theme! My niece and nephew are fans of the first Trolls movie (and especially the holiday short) but have been fairly slow to embrace LEGO, so maybe this will be how I finally convert them.
  2. So... like Star Wars, then.
  3. Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about that poster. Weird thing is, though, I don't think the poster is accurate to the show itself, because isn't this Will's bike in this scene?
  4. While we're picking out various little details: it's been quite a while since we've seen a black bicycle, hasn't it? I know that's not necessarily the most exciting part for most of you, but it jumped right out at me.
  5. The discussion of different biomes reminds me of an idea I had years ago for a possible pirate theme, but the concept could be just as easily applied to a space theme. The basic background would be that some huge [pirate/space] ship was torn apart by a [storm/asteroid] and the broken segments were scattered and crashed on various [islands/planets], so the crew used the wreckage, combined with elements from their new environments, to build new vehicles and shelters. The upshot of all this is that you get a full wave of 2-in-1 builds: each set would be some kind of fanciful craft or structure adapted to a unique biome, or it could be rebuilt into a portion of the original ship, so that they could be combined into one big build if you want to collect them all.
  6. Which is exactly what makes it a contender. One of the stated goals of the Ideas platform is to expand LEGO's reach to people who weren't already LEGO fans.
  7. Doctor Who is probably the main one for me, but there are others for which LEGO wasn't necessarily the sole cause but played a role in the increase of my interest. Like, I'm sure I would have gotten around to watching the MCU movies eventually anyway, but I wasn't compelled to start until around the time the LEGO Super Heroes license was announced in the summer of 2011. Same with Stranger Things - my wife was already a fan of the show, so I had seen a few partial episodes just because I happened to be in the room while she was watching, but I only started consciously watching it from the beginning last fall after I discovered a LEGO set was coming out. On a non-entertainment note, I wasn't real big on Mies van der Rohe when I was in architecture school, but I was inspired to give his work a second look after the LEGO Farnsworth House, and I've come to appreciate it a bit more since then.
  8. As long as we're purely on the speculation train for now, I feel like the new piece introduced for Mysterio's helmet in the Spider-Man sets could work for prophecies in a Ministry of Magic set - one that would hopefully include Kingsley Shacklebolt and Tonks.
  9. The press release clearly states the Advent Calendar releases September 1st.
  10. No. There is no 75949 and never will be.
  11. 75949 was going to be the Knight Bus, then it was cancelled, then it was un-cancelled but with a new set number for some reason.
  12. A lot to like here! The Knight Bus is easily my top priority, followed closely by the Clock Tower and Triwizard Challenge. I'm on the fence about Hagrid's Hut and will probably pass on Expecto Patronum, but that could change depending on whether my wife likes them.
  13. I think the likeliest possibility is something commemorating the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.
  14. ...How is that a problem, exactly?
  15. I generally only buy one or two Creator 3-in-1 sets per year, and yet, when I'm asked what my favorite theme is, that's always the one I name. It represents a sort of Platonic ideal of the LEGO System in my eyes, and I wouldn't change a thing about it - except maybe bringing back the parts inventory on the tops of the boxes.
  16. Certain segments of the fandom clearly value minifigures much more than I do, but that's about as definitive a conclusion as I can come to. I do think it's a bit ridiculous that some in this forum have referred to sets like the Helicarrier or Disney Castle as "failures" solely on the basis of the perceived inadequacy of their minifigure lineups, but that's because I personally value big, challenging builds for which minifigures are a nice bonus but not strictly necessary. (I'm thinking here of sets like the aforementioned Helicarrier, the Tumbler, and Hogwarts Castle, all of which I own and which I can honestly say I would have purchased even if they had no minifigures at all. The obvious commonality there is that those aren't even scaled to minifigures, so the ones they do include function as separate little display stands that don't directly integrate with the model itself.) On the other end of the spectrum, I've bought a fair few smallish sets I wouldn't have given a second glance if they didn't include characters I like. I mean, I would have no interest in a tanker truck - even one with an admittedly pretty cool play feature - but throw in Hawkeye, Vision, and Spider-Man, and I grab it up the first chance I get. So to answer your question, yes, and no, and also who cares. (I am large, I contain multitudes.)
  17. Silver Centurion: Mark XXXIII Scuba: not an MCU one since it's from a comic-based set, but inspired by Mark XXXVII Hammerhead Space: also non-MCU, but inspired by Mark XXXIX Starboost
  18. I just rewatched Iron Man 2 and now I have a mighty need for that donut shop.
  19. That's totally it! I wonder if a castle-themed ride could happen too. I also think it could be fun to modify the space ride so each car represents a different space subtheme from over the years. OK, I think I just effectively talked myself into buying it.
  20. I'm seriously tempted by the townhouse. I mean, I already have Park Street Townhouse, two different cafés (in Assembly Square and the Bike Shop & Café), the Pet Shop, and the Amusement Park Hot Dog Van, so I guess technically it doesn't offer much that I don't already have, but I still really like it. I'm curious to see what the buildings in the B-model are; that might tip the balance for me. And that UFO fairground ride is a thing of beauty.
  21. I'll probably want to get everything from this wave, but the Knight Bus is easily the one I'm most excited about. Ern looks nice! Bland, yes, but very true to his onscreen appearance.
  22. Some I've seen recently: blue afro, cool yellow Cavewoman hair, and teal wide-brim hats.
  23. The whole reason there was a Peeves in the first wave was because those sets were based on pre-release concept art that actually included him, though. So since he was cut from the final film I think there may not be hope for him as a minifig, though my ever-optimistic side hopes he might turn up in a Fantastic Beasts sequel.
