  1. I really want a new UCS Falcon, but considering the exponential increase in RRPs during the last few years anything close to the original size is going to be very expensive! However, I can't imagine that it would be anything other than a massive success, especially if it was a limited edition. If 20,000 41999s can sell in a couple of days I'm sure that 50,000 Falcons at £5-600 wouldn't be a problem! I'm quietly hoping that the rumoured UCS AT-AT and Slave 1 are correct, I genuinely don't care what they'll cost, provided that they don't cut corners on the size or part count.
  2. Hi markus1984, another stunning creation, it's flawless! The barge is beautiful and you've captured the awkward curves really well. I also particularly like the sarlacc, it's cleverly designed and looks very menacing! It's a shame that there's currently an official version of the barge, otherwise this would be a viable candidate for CUUSOO.
  3. Hi Kaitan, provided that your entry complies with the core rules (link) that should be fine
  4. Hi LegoFan117, I've updated the title for you. All entries are considered a 'Work In Progress' until the deadline, so you can make further changes if you want to (you've still got plenty of time!)
  5. Hi Kaitan, It would be great to have you involved. I've always been very fond of your Cloud City MOC Re: your question, I don't think that should be a problem, but I'll check this with the rest of the SoNE team and get back to you.
  6. Episode III is now live, so it's time to get building! Although I have to be (moderately) impartial this should be an excellent opportunity for the Empire.....If you're stuck for ideas, here's a few suggestions: i) Search through the corridors, main hangar, medical facility, storage areas, command centre, Ion Cannon & trenches. ii) Destroy any abandonded equipment, anti-infantry batterys, snowspeeders, weapons caches and command centre. iii) Decorate any of the above!! iv) If you encounter the Wampa(s) either run, fight (with snowballs) or decorate (them)
  7. It's a good question! I had a quick trawl through the original film last night, and my faithful copy of 'The making of the Empire Strikes Back' and the majority of the hangar is filmed from the position of where the snowspeeders are parked. I don't think that they actually built that part of the set completely, but Ralph McQuarrie's original artwork has sloping walls on both sides of the hangar so it's likely that they should have been
  8. That's the idea! A mixture of troops will have been left behind to help with the operation, and pilots will be amongst them. I haven't used LDD much, so perhaps Bob can clarify this, but if they're official LEGO elements it will be fine
  9. Yep it's my turn Thanks, excellent stuff! I'm even allowing snowball fights so get building!
  10. Episode III is now live! Entries can be of any scale and using either LEGO or LDD so, hopefully, that should be fairly inclusive! We've tried to make it quite light-hearted so please don't take it too seriously and have some fun with it. Snowball fights are permitted And rest assured, we already have Episode IV in hand.....
  11. To mark the festive season we felt that Episode III of SoNE should be located in the most suitable planet we could think of. Christmas just isn’t the same without snow and ice, and fortunately Hoth has both in abundant quantities! In addition to the primary objective for each faction we’ve added some additional ones which we hope will make it as fun as possible; your entry can meet one or all of the objectives. Entries can be of any size, and can be constructed using actual LEGO or LDD. You can also decide if you want to include the Wampas in your entry; however they’re unpredictable when cornered and probably best avoided! Imperials Imperial Officer: "Right, it's a bit nippy down here, so let's crack on with trying to find some intelligence" Snowtrooper (Bob): "Can we have a bit of fun as well? I really want to break something!" Snowtrooper (Steve): “And if we're going to be here for Christmas, do you mind if we put up a few decorations to brighten up the place a bit?....." Imperial Officer: "Honestly, whatever next?” (sigh) “OK, you can if you want to, but it must be done in your own time!" Objective for the Imperials: Explore Echo base and search for military intelligence Destroy any remaining equipment to prevent further use Decorate Echo Base Rebels Princess Leia: "I can't believe that you forgot to pack my wardrobe, I insist that we go back for it" Senior Commander: "Well, I suppose we could say it was a mission to recover essential equipment or something....and we could destroy the servers that we left behind at the same time. Yes, that sounds almost plausible...." Princess Leia: "Right, that's sorted. I'll expect to have it back in a couple of days then. I can’t bear to wear white for a moment longer!” Objectives for the Rebels: Recover any useful equipment and armaments that were left behind Destroy the abandoned servers Recover Princess Leia’s (extensive) wardrobe Covertly decorate Echo Base for the resident Imperials as a gesture of seasonal goodwill. Rules From the Core Rules: Your faction will receive points based on two factors: Points: The average number of points per builder. Builders: Two points for each builder. These two totals are added to each other, and the faction with the higher total is the winner. All the players on the winning team will receive this tag to commemorate their victory. You can only have one of these tags or one of the Community Build tags at a time, but a log will be kept of all the tags you've earned in your profile in the Characters topic. The player who receives the most total individual points, regardless of team, is guaranteed a spot among the next set of the blog's Showcased MOCs. (This member must still be able to provide a picture big enough and of suitable quality to be used in the Showcased banner.) You will receive XP equal to the number of points you are awarded from the judges. Other prizes to be determined. Episode III Rules: All rules in the Core Rules topic apply. The Episode will run from 7th December to 14th January 2014. As long as it's still 14th January somewhere in the world, you can still enter. All entries must be built from real LEGO or with Lego Digital Designer LDD). No clone brands, no third-party custom parts. All entries must be posted as a new topic in the Watto's Junkyard subforum, the title prefixed by, "[soNE Ep. III]". (For example, "[soNE Ep. III] A White Christmas on Hoth"). Entries can be of any size, and must meet at least one of the objectives for your faction. Remember to make your entry appropriate to your rank and goal. From the Core Rules: Your build will be scored in two stages, to make it easier on the judges by lessening the number of builds that must be scored in greater detail: In the first stage, the judges will award a score from 1-10, with a '1' being "Minifig on a Plate", a '5' being "Your Average MOC" and a '10' being "Flawless Concept and Execution". In the second stage, the top five builds of each faction (so ten in total) from the first stage will be scored based on basic predetermined criteria: up to 10 points for the concept and appropriateness to the objective, up to 25 points for your execution of the build, and up to 5 points for your presentation of the entry. For builders who make it to the second stage, their second stage total is added to their first stage points, and that total is divided by two. You can earn a maximum of 25 points in each episode. The amount of points you earn is also the amount of XP your character earns. Entries posted after the deadline will be disqualified from the episode and will not be eligible to receive XP. This episode/contest is open to all players of Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka, even if they joined EB or signed up for the game after the episode has begun, with the exception of the Star Wars staff, who are not eligible to win XP or prizes; the EB admins and moderators, who are not eligible to win prizes but may earn XP; and the episode host, who is not eligible to win prizes but may earn XP. One entry per member. All entries must be new creations, not posted anywhere else prior to being entered in the episode. You may be asked by a staff member to change your entry if it is too similar to an earlier creation. Post pictures no larger than 1000x720, as specified in the EB Member Guidelines. You may do a 'full-blown photo edit' with all the text, effects, background compositing, support erasing, and other effects on one picture. All your other pictures may have no editing other than colour adjustment or background removal for a solid-colour background. For obvious reasons, any photo editing that changes the shape, functionality, or colour (not tint or adjustment, but actual colour) of a LEGO piece is prohibited. All entries are considered WIPs (Works In Progress) until the deadline passes. Until the deadline has passed, you are allowed to change and improve your MOC.
  12. Personally I would use LEDs in the landing lights, as they'd look (and I use this word sparingly) awesome! I'm a great fan of Technic LEDs, and they would really show-off the Falcon by illuminating the underside of it
  13. Hi Empire I've been looking forward to seeing an update of this and it's progressing nicely, great work! A few suggestions: i) The walls of the X-Wing hangers should slope inwards more to match the original set. Brickplumber's version re-created this very well (link). ii) The landing lights should be in two parallel strips as far as I can tell, rather than a circular pattern. iii) I like the exposed face of the base, but the internal walls need to be less uniform and neat. I'd suggest using combinations of slopes and inverted slopes to create a 'rock face' in a few areas. iv) You might want to wait until next year before starting work on the AT-ATs...it's a distinct possibility that there might be an official UCS version! I hope that this helps Cheers, Robin
  14. You'll just have to wait and see......
  15. Especially as it's being hosted by an Imperial!
  16. 8110 Unimog is back in stock at Amazon (UK) at £113.24 (link), it's been discontinued on the Lego website
  17. Episode II was Bob's so I'll leave that to him! Thanks again for your input, it's always interesting to hear the views of other members. I don't think that we can amend any of the core rules (and scoring) for Episode III as it's about to be unveiled, but it might be possible for the future. The scoring method did create a lot of debate when we were devising the rules for SoNE and, I think it's fair to say, we did consider a lot of options!! Anyway, I'm hoping that Episode III will be well received; I don't want to spoil the surprise but we've made it very flexible
  18. It wasn't unfair at all. The rules made it clear that LDD entries were perfectly acceptable & Bob spent a lot of time preparing a list of parts that could be used. LDD is readily available and free to download
  19. Update as requested: i) Judging for Episode II is currently in the second stage (detailed scoring for the top 10 of the first stage) ii) Episode III is almost ready and the details will be announced shortly!
  20. A couple of great deals on Amazon (UK) 7965 - Millennium Falcon @ £83.99 (link) 75020 - Jabba's Sailbarge @ £59.99 (link)
  21. Thanks for the comments everyone, it's good to hear some constructive feedback I've made a few comments below which might be of interest and clarify a few things: i) Firstly, the judging for Episode II is happening at the moment, so it shouldn't be long before the results are announced! ii) There's a small team of EB members that are trying to organise everything for SoNE, and it does take time, especially as we're scattered across the world! As you're probably aware, most of us are at Uni or have full-time jobs so there is a limited amount of time we can commit to it. iii) Doc and the other moderators spend a considerable amount of time behind the scenes organising everything, a lot of which you won't ever see; it wasn't until I got involved with the Blog that I fully appreciated how much effort is put into the forum. iv) We have been planning Episode III (and IV!) but we still need to finalise the details, so please be patient v) I think it's fair to say that it's been a learning curve for us all, and there's bound to be the odd problem. We'll try to keep it as interesting as possible and are always open to cunning suggestions! Cheers, Robin
  22. My entry below, it seemed logical to have an Ewok lurking inside a tree! Apologies for the rubbish photo!
  23. Great work Baronsat! I'd love to see some other photos of the trophy and torture rooms
  24. These are truly wonderful, stunning work  Cheers, Robin
