Lobot replied to Lobot's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Update: We've agreed to extend the deadline for Episode III until the 14th January, so you've still got time to enter! I'll update the rules and add a post to the other SoNE threads -

Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka — Avenger (Imperial Headquarters)
Lobot replied to Brickdoctor's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Excellent stuff, all Imperial contributions will be appreciated! You've got until the 7th January, so there's still plenty of time -
You've made my day! A big thanks to CopMike & Sinner for organising it all, and for their amazing generosity, it's been great fun!

That's odd, there should be an option on the main Shop at Home website.... I used it when I built mine, but it's not currently available. I'd guess that they've stopped it due to Christmas? If I remember correctly there was a 'I want to buy a part' (or similar) which allowed you to enter the set number and it listed all of the main parts that were available. I'd recommend using it as it saved me a lot overall.

I finally gave in and purchased this today and, to be honest, I'm fairly underwhelmed. I managed to get it at 25% off, but even then it feels overpriced! The only highlights are General Rieekan and the Probe Droid, which is very well designed. The Snowspeeder is a re-hash of the older version, the 'trenches' are too small and the Speeder Bike is totally pointless. I was amazed to see that it's been discontinued so quickly (it's only been available for 10 months in the UK according to Brickset); perhaps it's due to poor sales? And, I really don't understand why the Snowtroopers have grey hands....

Thanks for the review, great stuff!

Hi, and welcome to Eurobricks! I don't know if you've seen my thread, but it includes a list of the colours I changed: (link). Good luck with the build

Congratulations, it's a mammoth build but well worth the effort!

Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka — Introduction and Discussion

Do you have MS Paint installed on your PC? If so you can re-size photos with it very easily as follows: i) Find the photo you want to use on your PC > Copy it and re-name it ii) Next open the new copy and right-click on it and select 'Open with' and 'Paint' iii) Next on the 'Home' tab you'll find a 'Resize' option > Click on it iv) Next select the 'Pixels' radio button > Next change the 'Horizontal' to '100' (the 'Vertical' will automatically update) iv) Next select 'OK' and save the file If you don't, your brickshelf folder doesn't have to be public before you can link photos here as follows: i) Open your Brickshelf folder and click on the photo you want ii) Next left-click on the photo again and it will appear in a new window (without the adverts!) iii) Next copy the URL from the address bar iv) Create a new post in EB > Next click on the 'image' icon on the toolbar (it's a little window!) v) Paste the URL in the 'URL' box and click 'OK' Then one of us should be able to help -
After seeing the final images for these sets, my initial 'meh' is confirmed It's got to be the worst range for several years, but at least we have a UCS Slave 1 to (hopefully) look forward to. I'm planning to buy 3 or 4 of the Death Star Trooper packs, but otherwise I'm happy to pass on the rest of them. And, I completely agree with the general concensus regarding the new blasters....they might be fun if you're under 10, but I'm not Ah well, at least I can buy the EV in the next couple of months without feeling too guilty about how much I've spent on Lego recently. I'm almost starting to like ewoks; they seem very appealing compared to most of this lot, which is a worrying state of affairs!!

Hi eberkain, and welcome to Eurobricks! This is looking very impressive, well done I've always been very fond of the original version, but it's a shame that it didn't have a decent interior. My only concern is that have you made the frame strong enough; the original is very heavy when it's completed! If you're after inspiration both marshal banana (link) and Brickplumber (link) have made interiors for it.

SoNE Contest Episode III: Return to Echo Base

Hi, and welcome! Your minifigure should represent which faction you've joined (Imperials or Rebels) and their rank. Consequently, if you're joining the Rebels it should be a Pilot, Trooper, Technician etc and if it's the Imperials it should be a Hothtrooper, Pilot or similar. We're trying to keep this Episode light-hearted, so there aren't many 'strict' rules, and you can always build using LDD if you prefer -
Follows Closely was referring to the rumour that there's a new (UCS) Sandcrawler for 2014 (link). However, at $299 (or about £185) I can't see it being that impressive, but time will tell!
-
If you're bored you could always design me a Blockaderunner or Nebulon B Frigate that I could Bricklink, something in the 2500 - 3500 part range would be nice Anyway, I digress..... I'm hoping that the SoNE team will have a bit more time over the holidays to discuss the future, and a dedicated sub-forum seems like a sensible option. Hopefully we'll have a good level of participation in Episode III, and it will help to raise SoNE's profile!

Perhaps I was being a bit too harsh, but the old version dissapointed me. It was quite fun to build (I've owned two of them) but it could have been a lot better with a little Technic input....A hybrid between 8043 and 10144 would be very interesting but I can't see it happening at that price point.
-
Sorry, I meant the recent SW UCS models! I've just checked the conversion rates and if the $300 RRP is correct that's about £185. Even accounting for the tracks (10144 had 272), I can't see the part count being much above 2000 which would be rather dissapointing to say the least. I'll reserve judgement until I see it, but I'd prefer something in the 3-4000 range, otherwise it could just be a slight upgrade on 10144.
-
Interesting, although the set number seems a bit odd as most UCS models have a '10' prefix However, the price suggests that it should be a decent size, time to get saving!
-
Bossk also appears in the old Slave 1 set (8097); the new versions of IG-88 & Dengar are only available in the SSD. I quite like the set, apart from the bridge which is totally pointless. If there's a continued focus on ROTJ next year, they could still have a new AT-AT.....it would compliment a dish and landing platform very nicely!
-
As long as it's not a re-hash of the 8129 that's ok, what an awful set! To do it justice it needs to be in the 1000 - 1200 parts range at system scale.
