LEGO have an almost impossible task with that, and I do sympathise. I think that it's partly due to the wide spectrum of SW fans that it has, ranging from little kids to, well, those like me who were around when the OT were being released for the first time! To be honest, there's been a few bad sets in the last couple of years, but also some excellent ones (including the UCS Imperial Shuttle, Slave 1, Sandcrawler, SSD, Anakin & Sebulba's Podracers, Mos Eisley & Ewok Village) and I suppose it's impossible to please everyone all of the time I'm not sure that Chewie would be happy with that suggestion, but the idea made my day!

Hi Negronicus, and welcome to Eurobricks! For future reference there's a general Q&A thread pinned to the top of the forum. I'll merge this thread with it in a bit Personally I'd suggest the Star Destroyer if you can get it at a reasonable discount (20%+). It has a nice selection of minifigures and a good mix of parts. Cheers, Robin -
You may 'officially' be a Sci-Fi Moderator Bob, but the SW Forum wouldn't be the same without you Now all you need to do is design a new UCS Star Destroyer!

I don't think that they've sold well. The Ghost and Phantom have both been heavily discounted in the UK, for example the Phantom has been widely available at 45% off this week and it's still available even then, which is unusual for a SW set. My guess is that it's partly due to modest sales, but also because the new wave of Episode 7 sets is due shortly so they're making room for them. -
The Falcon looks almost identical to 7965, and has virtually the same part count (1329 compared to 1233), so I think I'll stick with it. I was going to complain about the spring-loaded launchers, but to be honest they aren't any worse that the flick-fire missiles bolted onto the underside of the old one! The only highlight for me is 'Old' Han, the rest looks like an easy pass.

Hi billli, and welcome to the Star Wars forum! For future reference there's a general Q&A thread pinned to the top of the forum. I'll merge this with it in a bit In reply to your question, I totally agree with Jedi-Bendu. It's iconic, but not in quite the same league as the X-Wing, Falcon or Slave 1. It looks like the DS may be finally on it's way out of production after 7 years, so if you're tempted it may be a good time to get one. -
Hi micky, and welcome again to Eurobricks! As requested I've removed your original thread It's always good to see new MOCs and the LDD design looks great, you've captured the look of the Cantina really well. My only suggestion would be to add some more detailing to the roof sections; several other Tatooine-based MOCs I've seen use tan tiles on the roof to create a raised edge. If you're looking for inspiration for any finishing touches, these may be of interest: (link) and (link). I look forward to seeing further updates. Cheers, Robin

Hi hwangmihee1, for future reference there's a general Q&A thread pinned to the forum. I'll merge this thread with it in a bit In reply to your question, it's anyone's guess! Personally I'm amazed that it's still in production after 7 years, but from what I've heard it's been a consistently good seller for TLG. -
Congratulations Bob, it looks stunning! It's been a real honour to have played a tiny role in the development of it, thank you!

Thanks for the link. I could be wrong, but the top for the cockpit appears to be a placeholder as it bears absolutely no resemblance to the actual model....in fact it looks suspiciously like a TIE fighter windscreen! The RRP is ridiculous though, I'll only get it if I find it at a decent discount

7962 is a great set, and I'm quite surprised that it didn't do well. It has a nice selection of minifigures and is really fun to build. I picked up mine when it was 50% off from Amazon a few years ago and it was a total bargain. I'm hoping that I did quite well today, as I've reserved a UCS X-Wing from Argos at 40% off. It's not being delivered into store until next week so there's always a chance it may be cancelled, but they've always been very good in the past

Hi Anio, you've done an excellent job of re-creating this in LEGO, well done! I agree that isn't one of the most 'interesting' ships in the SW Universe, but you've created the best version that I've seen of it so far. I particularly like the dark red slopes, and the exposed pipes/linkages which help to add interest to it. Oh, and personally I prefer the trans-light blue ...And

Amazing work markus, as usual! You've captured virtually every detail so well, I'm not sure how you could improve on this apart from adding a few LEDs! I love the T-16 model in particular, I didn't think that it would be possible to re-create it in such a small scale, it's an ingenious design!

I doubt that the movie is a reliable guide of what the set will include, assuming that it does exist! In particular, I can't imagine that TLG would include a wampa (plus a cave) in it. If you take it literally, then it's also going to include several AT-ATs which would make it very interesting indeed! If I recall correctly someone mentioned that it was in the 'Ewok Village' pricing territory, which must put it somewhere around 2-2,500 parts. I'd be very disappointed if it just becomes an assortment of small 'ancillary' sections but hopefully all will be revealed this weekend.

The current Snowtroopers have been out for a while (in 75054) so there's quite a few available on Bricklink (link); the 2015 Advent calendar includes a rebel so it should be a good way of obtaining several provided that there aren't the shortages that happened last year!

Thanks for the link Tariq j, that looks very promising! I hope that this is a good indication that the rumored UCS Echo Base is correct; it's been long overdue. 7666 was a good set but too small and 7879 was, well, just awful! My only worry is that if they use a lot of parts on the 'add-ons' which are bound to include a couple of speeder bikes, the Ion cannon and a shield generator, then the actual base could be quite small. Personally I'd be happy to trade them for a decent hangar that's large enough to hold a system-scale Falcon, now that would be good

Great work, mordatre! The rock work is excellent and I really like how you've used some tan to break up the greys. The LEDs are a nice addition too!

I did my last one for £625 (or ~$1000) so it can still be done for a reasonable price. I substituted most of the usual parts, but ordered almost everything new so it could probably be done for a bit less....and I think that the BL stores are generally cheaper in the US than the UK/Europe as well

You're welcome I don't think that they're based on cavegod's; if you look at the photos in this thread it seems to be quite a bit larger, although they can be deceptive!

Here's thire5's version of the Falcon which uses the 6020s; there's several other photos of his Hoth MOC in his flickr account (here) if you're interested. I hope that helps! Cheers, Robin

Great work KevFett2011, the 'work in progress' shows are really impressive, and I'm looking forward to seeing the final version I think that Disney have been very clever in using the AT-AT and Star Destroyer shots in the new film, it's bound to generate a lot of interest amongst die-hard OT fans (me included!)

I couldn't agree more, but as I've previously said anyone attempting this should do a fair amount of planning beforehand. It takes a lot of time, money and energy but the final result is more than worth it. And, if you need to sell it on afterwards, there seems to be a healthy market for them Hopefully TLG will re-make it at some point, even at £600+ each I'm sure that they could easily sell a limited edition run of 10-20,000 sets.

That's already looking amazing H-Solo, great work! Are you going to add the LEDs to it? I'm almost tempted to build one..... Cheers, Robin
