Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Lobot replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hi iannn29, and welcome to Eurobricks! As other members have said, the walls appear to be built from 1x2 & 1x1 plates (part no's 3024 & 3023) that are built sideways, so you're looking at the edges of them. For future reference, there's a general Q & A thread pinned to the top of the forum. I'll merge your thread with it in a bit Cheers, Robin -
[MOC] UCS Nebulon B - Medical Frigate 'Redemption'
Lobot replied to mortesv's topic in LEGO Star Wars
You've just made my day, mortesv, thanks! I guess that means I can finally give up on my feeble attempt I don't want to think about the amount of hours I've spent on this so far, and it still looks rubbish! I really don't know how you managed to build it in LDD, the shape is so complicated. Please can you add me to the waiting list, I need another Bricklink project -

Hi Daphatty For future reference, there's a general Q & A thread pinned to the top of the Star Wars forum; I'll merge this with it in a bit Cheers, Robin -
Thanks for the comments everyone! Yes, it's not the cheapest project, but in comparison to a half-decent original version it's a bargain! I guess it just depends if you've got sufficient time (and motivation) to take this on; I don't want to discourage anyone from attempting this but I'd really recommend that you do a fair bit of planning first. I managed to get good deals on a couple of large Bricklink orders, as the stores were having significant sales and that really helped with the final cost. But, if you haven't used Bricklink before it may be worth trying something smaller (and cheaper!) first, otherwise it could get very expensive. And, as for another project, you'll just have to wait and see...!

Final update: Well, after a lot of time and effort it's finally finished, and it's been well worth it Lobot takes it out for a quick flight around Bespin (and shows Chewie how it should be done!) All finished: If you're thinking about this, I'd strongly recommend it just for the challenge, but be prepared to invest a lot of time and effort into it! Be warned though, Bricklinking is very addictive.....! It's been good fun second time around and kept me occupied for several months. I'll admit that the delays have been rather frustrating at times, but I guess that it's just one of those things and I hope that it wouldn't happen to anyone else! Cheers, Robin

Hi Bantha Fodder Brickset has confirmed that the Admiral Yularen polybag will be the May 4th promo in the US & Canada (purchases over $75), so I'd expect that it will be in Europe too: http://brickset.com/article/14894/more-information-on-may-the-fourth-promotions -
Hi Pup3741, and welcome to Eurobricks! I can't see that TLG would ever make a copy of the original Death Star (e.g. just a solid outer shell) as it would just look like a slightly odd ball of LBG! However, I'd like to see an updated version of 10143 (with improved stability) but it's bound to be at a higher price-point than 10188 just taking inflation into account. Anything new with a 3,000+ part count is bound to be a minimum of £350. I can imagine a 'hybrid' of 10143 and 10188 though, basically an upgraded 10143, plus a nice selection of exclusive minifigures.

Millennium Falcon 75030 micro fighter build/destroy
Lobot replied to boomblocks's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I guess that everyone has a right to do whatever they want with their own possessions, but it just seems like a total waste of a great toy to me I'm sure that loads of kids would have really appreciated it. The internet is a strange place at times.- 29 replies

Is that the UCS or system scale version? If you're considering the UCS, the cockpit canopy (part 2598pb01) is almost impossible to get hold of at a reasonable cost: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2598pb01 It's a shame really, as it would have been quite fun to build -

Hi samir, for future reference there's a general SW Q & A thread pinned to the top of the forum. I'll merge this thread with it in a bit The Nebulon B is one of my favourite ships, I look forward to seeing your MOC of it! -
Hi Samppu, and welcome to Eurobricks! That's a very impressive model, and one of the best I've seen of that scale. To be honest, I didn't expect to see the cat but perhaps that's another secret Imperial weapon! I don't know if you're aware of the forum guidelines, but for future reference photos should be a maximum of 1024 x 768 (and ideally around 800 x 600). If you don't know how to re-size images there's a really useful tutorial here that uses MS Paint: http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=20787 Cheers, Robin

Hi rahservizi, I think it's part no: 89523. I've attached a link below to the Bricklink entry for it: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=89523

That's a very nice looking 10179, H-Solo! And it's always good to see a great collection of vintage Star Wars figures & sets. I spent a fortune several years ago collecting a full set of figures, including the Blue Snaggletooth etc etc, but sold them when I decided to focus on collecting LEGO SW sets.

Great review Masked! It's an great set and well worthy of the 'UCS' designation. There's a few issues with it, but I really enjoyed building mine and it certainly looks impressive on display. I'm still waiting for them to correct the sticker though as the spelling mistake really irritates me, and I can't stop noticing it!
-
Hi ZCerberus, this is undoubtedly one of the most detailed and beautifully presented review that I've seen. I can't imagine the time you invested in it, but the result is totally worth it! I had 6209 and 8097 which were both great little models, but replaced them when the UCS version was released. I'm very pleased with it, despite the accepted flaws it was fun to build and looks suitably impressive on display.

It's always great to hear about other Bricklinking projects, the Falcon is certainly very challenging, but the final result is well worth the effort! I look forward to seeing some photos and progress updates. Just ask if you have any questions and I'll do my best to help Anyway, it's time for an update: The good news is that my LEGO order arrived yesterday with the missing 6 x 8 LBG plates. Unfortunately, there was only 8..!! Now I like to think that I'm quite a tolerant & understanding person, but I'm not overly impressed by the 'service' that I've received from TLG of late, but I digress. Anyway, after a quick trawl of my boxed sets I managed to find a couple of plates so I'm finally in business! I'm hoping that I can finish it in the next couple of days, but I thought that you might like to the last couple 'in progress' photos. I'm really pleased with how it's turning out, I think that I got the balance between cost - accuracy just about right, but I do miss the yellow 32555s. I appreciate that it's totally illogical, but they brightened up the place somehow!!

Update: I've made a bit more progress in the last few days, although as I'm still missing 10 of the 6 x 8 LBG plates I've had to build some sections out of sequence. However, the underside is almost finished, the mandibles are complete, docking rings and cockpit attached and I've just added the first engine block. Overview: It's getting there! Apologies for the lighting, but the UK is currently shrouded in a less than ideal smog..... I'm currently up to about page 240 (minus a couple of sections that I can't build yet), but it's definitely starting to look more Falcon shaped. My favorite part: I don't know what it is about the docking rings but they're just beautiful I'm hoping that TLG ship my last 10 parts in the next couple of days, otherwise I might need to hit Bricklink again. Unfortunately, Mrs Lobot is starting to look rather 'disappointed' by its ongoing presence on our table so I need to get it finished! Cheers, Robin

Hi Strand, this one cost me £624.89, including all P&P etc. Everything was bought new (well, apart from one part!) but I didn't bother with any of the minifigures. If I hadn't used the Dark red 6 x 14 plate, and ordered blue 6558s (rather than black) I could have saved myself around £30, so it's still possible to build a reasonably 'original' version for under £600. To be honest, I've had a lot more problems with the orders for this one than my first, which has been very frustrating. But, seeing it finally all come together has made it worth it!

Update: I've made quite good progress in the last few days, results as follows: Page 160: Both mandibles finished and it suddenly gets a lot bigger! I've also added the lower panels to it, plus the two that cover the under-side of the central corridor between the docking rings, including the loading ramp with the hydraulic rams Here's a photo of the underside, which should give an idea of the size of the model. The sheer number of parts in each panel is amazing and the finished model is covered in tiny 'greebling' details. When the set was originally available at an RRP of £350 it seemed very expensive, but in hindsight it was a total bargain. Even taking into account inflation, the newer sets seem far worse value for money.... I'm hoping to do some more this weekend. Unfortunately I've just used my last 6 x 8 LBG plate, so that could be a problem.... Cheers, Robin

How will Lego handle Episode VIII, IX and Spin-Offs?
Lobot replied to Jedi-Bendu's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hi Jedi-Bendu, it's an interesting question and I agree that it's worthy of a new thread. To be honest, I don't mind what TLG produces provided that we get another UCS-type Falcon at some point! I've amended the title as it was looking a bit odd; please let me know if you want me to change it to anything else -
Well, after what feels like a rather lengthy wait, I've made a bit of progress in the last couple of days: Page 80: Firstly, all of the underneath including the ridiculously expensive 6 x 14 Dark Red plate (which I paid £12.50 for!). All 7 legs installed and it's suddenly looking a lot more impressive. First 'greebling' touches added, I've almost forgotten how big this thing gets! Page 92: Rear engines installed, it's quite quick to build and not too repetative. There's some lovely little touches on either end of it. The Technic beams make it incredibly stong, which is good as it gets very heavy. I must admit I'm missing the yellow 32555s, they just added a certain something to the original model If anyone is tempted to do this, I'd 100% recommend it just so that you can experience the whole process. It's certainly a mammoth project and something you'll always remember doing! I'm hoping to do quite a lot more in the next few days, so stay tuned!
