I know! That is not the point! What I mean is we have bean able to deal with MOCs with non lego parts up until now while we had lego support... so lets continue to do it maybe whth some more tolerance!

About MOCS. I think we should keep on doing what we do now. Nowadays we are a lego forum, supported by TLG, where some of the presented MOCs have already some parts of other brands. Currently there is this flexibility. Why not continuing doing the same? However, if a MOC is an alternate model of a set of brand X it probably should go to the brand X section (even if it is an X-wing!). I say this because I think our reference brand should continue to be lego... but I would not see a problem in putting a reference to this MOC in the SW forum. Now, you might wonder, what about a MOC with 999 parts, 333 lego, 333 cada, 333 mega !?!? We will always have situations... if we expect to define everything now... we will die doing it. :-D

I guess @MAB analysis goes right to the point. Probably allowing other brands topic is not the only change we should do... Someone said we were 180000 users... unbelivable! but... How many different users used the forum last month? What is the average age of those users? @aFrInati0n we can know these, can't we? PS: I am also 30... almost thirty years ago I am! :-)

Here is a suggestion: We currently are a lego only forum. We should/could move to a lego forum that does not fear to talk about other brands. Not a multi brand forum. In that sense, other brands are just topics as any other topic. If some subject gathers a lot of interest, we create a forum or sub-forum for it. Thats it. 1) discuss other brands sets, next sets expectations, mods etc, love and hate declarations to the brand, comparison to lego: in the appropriate forum for the brand or in a generic "other brands" forum (or what ever...) if the brand does not have a dedicated space. 2) MOCS: presented in the appropriate theme section. This is a lego forum so we assume that MOC are only/mostly done with lego bricks. Other brands are already accepted in many forums here so no news... 3) MOCs only of other brands parts or mostly of other brands parts: I guess these should not be allowed because supposedly they should go to their brands forum... but not sure about this one. 4) MODs and Alternate Models of other brands sets: I really am not used to see them here so, maybe like 3) Does this covers everything? Thes thread is being very silent (in the last 5min) so please give me your comments

Oh you are right, I read too fast option 2! But if we start accepting other brands, it does not make sense to mix them all in one corner, at least for the ones that already have a lot of interest in eurobricks. For instance, the cada topic in the technic forum definitely deserves a forum for itself. Then we could have a bag forum for all other brands. And if some of them becomes notorious ... a new forum or sub-forum is created. Abou mark all as read, I always have chosen not to use it. When I joined in 2017 I read (or at least skimed through) all the topics since the beggining. (well in technic forum only, I am not that crazy!)

Hi everybody! I only do lego. I usually only read the Technic forum. In this forum there is a cada thread that I don't read, I only give a very quick look so that it becomes marked as read. And that thread sometimes bothers (my egocentric) me because it looks I have new stuff to read in the Technic forum and then it is not lego. But I understand that other people might want to discuss brand X. Even brand X only! I do not mind to see a MOC mostly lego with some non lego parts in the lego subsections. But I would like to be able to skip other brands easily. With option 2 these seems impossible. So, I voted for 3. As someone else already said, forums are not popular anymore. If we change a lot and people start to leave... they will never get back. So, I suggest we don't do a major change. Lets open the door to other brands slowly with some organization but keep existing things close to what they currently are and then evolve from there. PS: this thread is getting very big, at some point I did only diagonal reading...

I understand you. Facebook has a thing called profiles. I have my usual facebook profile and a Lego version, so that things don't get mixed. From AI: Facebook allows you to create up to four additional personal profiles, giving you up to five total profiles on a single account. Each profile can have a unique name, custom Feed, friends list, and privacy settings. You can seamlessly switch between them using your primary login without logging out. You have to subscribe all your groups on the Lego profile, friends, etc, but then you get separated notifications. In the begining it is very good, only lego! But soon the algorithm finds other subjects to bother you

Very cool, you should do a post with all those beasts! After all they are technic MOCs... and used in extreme situations! I would like to see the propulsion system of that thing in the snow... or is it hand pulled?

Thank you! Well, there are other people who used the LAs this way... But I think I managed to integrate everything in one consistent package... with the help of Pybricks, I must say. It came out pretty well. I built the ship and then the platform. Without software, of course. Then the program started to grow, and to be able to move the platform bit by bit. The first time the joystick was able to move the platform with the ship on it… what a joy! It was really quite a moment! And with the Xbox it is even better, it is much smother. The buttons have several functions, they have simple click, double click, triple click and long click! It is the only interface available and there is only one program that does it all. The wings are controlled by the button in the center hub. The button in the joystick is used to change the mode. These platforms have 6 degrees of freedom but the joystick can handle only two at a time. So, the joystick button changes the move mode: Roll+Pitch, X+Y or Z+Yaw. The buttons are also used to exit (long click) and to define the working mode, if it is with the joystick or the Xbox controller.

Hi everybody! May the 4th seems a good day to present my latest MOC: This is X-wing on Stewart Platform, an alternate model of the LEGO 42100 set. The model attempts to be faithful to the original T-65 X-wing; however, given the limited parts, some adaptations were made. The combination of the stewart platform with the X-wing allows for a lot of fun, I am quite satisfied with the final result. Please watch the video: More pictures here. X-wing: The x-wing was a pleasure to build. The wing support was challenging, I started with a super complicated version, and must have gone through about 15 versions. But it turned out quite simple and functional, the wings stay open easily and close almost perfectly. Since there were no white pieces to make the engine nacelles, I had to be creative and use the tracks. And there are some little feet in the ship! There are possibly some illegal building technics, but nothing too forced, it doesn't worry me much. Stewart Platform: The platform turned out to be quite functional and stronger than it looks. Since there are so many silicone tubes in the set, I used them as non-slip feet.The TechnicHub IMU performs very well as a joystick. Stand: After building the x-wing and the platform, several parts were left over. So I built a static platform (with the possibility of adjusting the vertical angle) to support the x-wing. It works quite nicely. Software: The software was entirely developed in Pybricks Python. And it's a showcase of Pybricks' capabilities; @Pybricks is fantastic!: Running entirely on both hubs, no connection to a mobile phone or external computer. Stewart Platform algorithm computation. Motor speed and stall control. Use of the hub's IMU sensor as a joystick. Bidirectional communication between hubs using BLE Broadcast (well, much more in one direction than the other :-)). Use of internal memory to record the operating mode on the next initialization. Optional control with Xbox controller. Instructions will soon be available on rebrickable. I asked this in late march: I recently realized that the Mindstorms Robot Inventor application will be discontinued in June. What can I do after that date? Is it possible to obtain copies of the installation version of the application? Since it will no longer be supported, is it possible for the source code to be made available for the community to continue using? ---- (yes I asked for the source code! :-). If that is possible, you could skip initial callibrations in, for instance, steering, insn't it? But I think all lego models have an initial callibration step.... Maybe if you rotate the motor while it is desconnected it can't keep track of its current position? Just guessing... Perhaps @Pybrickscould help us about that? Ah, forget about callibration, callibration is there because when we build it we don´t need to care with motor position, any position will do.
