  1. Very nice! This portrait will do very well with a Pirate display!
  2. Fantastic little ship, I love it!
  3. Great ship, but I also like you vision of space very much!
  4. Fantastic rover! I love that is is not as huge as most Mars Mission rover sets!
  5. Oh wow, and another midsized ship! Love it, and with sails this time! Again some great inner detail too. You manage to keep the proportions very good for these smaller ships, I always tend to go cartoon-style with them.
  6. Great medium sized ship, I love it! With very nice interior detail as well! I would love to see her with some sails... Simply cut from paper? Brown packing paper?
  7. Looks great! Your 'greenery' looks is fantastic and the brick build walls are a nice reference to the originals.!
  8. Fantastic ship, and that colour choice is great! A ship for polar destinations...
  9. Fantastic build! Spending some time on your Flickr account helped a lot to get a real feel for it all!
  10. They might have lost Paul there...
  11. Not much yet. I am hoping this years spooktober will deliver some more shot of this rather illusive faction on my seas... It turns out this particular ship is used by the skeleton crew that popped up last year's Halloween: It all started with Pip finding more than just banana's everywhere (the banana-fairy thing, don't ask): The Briney Brick 17 (d): Pip on the look out... by Jan Kusters, on Flickr On Halloween night it all became clear, a ghost ship (or rather boat) with a skeleton crew was leaving its traces... The Briney Brick 17 (e): Pip on the look out... by Jan Kusters, on Flickr After that, the 'black boat' kept popping up occasionally to do its things; free dead prisoners from dungeons, taking care of their off shore banking... The Briney Brick 73 (c): The Great Escape... by Jan Kusters, on Flickr The Briney Brick 75: Things that go splash in the night... by Jan Kusters, on Flickr The Briney Brick 76(a); who are they?!? by Jan Kusters, on Flickr and The Briney Brick 76(b); who are they?!? by Jan Kusters, on Flickr
  12. There is, of course, a slight downside to living on rum tree island; you get to see a lot of weird stuff... The Briney Brick (still 7, b) This Island is weird! by Jan Kusters, on Flickr It makes it hard to convince other people of what you tell them...
  13. Great build! Very nice retake of a classic set. The small ship works well with these islands! And with a raft and all, it is a full blown classic dream-set in modern bricks. I must admit, the 'island-possibilities' from the Barracuda bay set have kept me form building the actual set for over a year now...
  14. Fantastic! I love the detail but also the over all look of the island, it really suggest a bay from a bigger island! The 'settlement' is fantastic without over-designing it. The treasure vault is great too!
  15. That is a very impressive ship!
  16. The other pirates never found it, and they were not sure whether Monty was just telling tall tales about Rum Tree Island. But one thing was certain; with Monty about, the rum is never gone...
  17. Excellent! I love that sail used like this!
  18. The Briney Brick 5(b): It's by Jan Kusters, on Flickr
  19. Hehehe, love the little island!
  20. Thank you! Well, out at sea, sailors are used to strange things no landlubber has ever seen... Meanwhile, the lieutenant seems ta have second thoughts on his 'well stocked'... The Briney Brick 80 (c); Dinner time... by Jan Kusters, on Flickr 'It's not that I do not like hard tack, sergeant. It's just that for once I would like a dinner that I could eat with real cutlery in stead of hammer and chisel...'
  21. Thank you! As for overcrowded; I have always been awed with the number of men they crammed on ships in the 16th and 17th century, so uhm well, yes, my ships and boats tend to get a bit loaded... The Briney Brick interlude (b): still sorting a new set... by Jan Kusters, on Flickr The Briney Brick 60 (a): Landing party... by Jan Kusters, on Flickr (still working my way up to complete the crew of the Crimson Mermaid, I am sure they will gather some more folks on their voyages...) Thank you! While we live in times of awesome and huge builds, detailed to perfection, I do love the smaller and simpler builds in Lego. They feel more like the Lego I grew up with. Sadly I am not very good at designing that smaller stuff.
  22. You are absolutely right, I will correct it! Thank you!
  23. Thank you! I love lighting in Lego (and nightshots)... Thank you!
  24. Those who saw my long Whale Rock outpost-post might remember a black hooded figure more or less haunting the fortress, and later assisting the dead prisoner in his escape. The Briney Brick 73 (c): The Great Escape... by Jan Kusters, on Flickr When I came up with this figure, I had no idea who it was, but over the last few weeks the figure appeared again. The Briney Brick 75: Things that go splash in the night... by Jan Kusters, on Flickr Here the figure assists (or leads?) a few skeletons while they made a withdrawel from their bank (what else could this giant skull on an island be!). I also had a few figures stowed away that I still wanted to add to my Pirate display... And then it hit me apart from pirates and islanders and Imperial soldiers, another faction in my part of the world! But then I needed a bigger boat; bigger than the regular rowing boat, but smaller than a full ship... The Briney Brick 76(a); who are they?!? by Jan Kusters, on Flickr Enter 'The Black Ship'... 'Right where she was supposed to be. Steady now boys...' Black sails in the moonlight Black patch on your eye You shiver your timbers, baby And I'll shiver mine... (Harry Nilsson, Black Sails https://youtu.be/9Lu3VDZyfHU for those wanting the background music... ) The Briney Brick 76(b); who are they?!? by Jan Kusters, on Flickr 'Well, you took your time!' 'Ah well, it's getting busy in our little sea here. The fortress has a new crew! I managed to get the prisoner out, but they already took the dead soldier away. And remember that trader we chased onto the rocks some time ago? It has been fixed and is afloat again, I saw it at Skull Island. Seems to be in the hands of pirates now, they were all over the island, partying with the natives. I thought it wise to take our money from the bank for a while, it will be safer with us.' The Briney Brick 76(c); who are they?!? by Jan Kusters, on Flickr The Briney Brick 76(c); who are they?!? 'Oh, and another thing; I think Princess Kahiki has a suitor now. There was this young lad at her side who could not take his eyes of her...' So here she is, my small MOC ship or big MOC boat based on the 18 x 8 x 2 1/3 hull piece... (corrected after Legostein gave the right dimentions below, thank you!)
  25. Thank you! By now my fortress has had a visit from its first supply ship, and is a bit better stocked... The Briney Brick 78 (a); A supply ship has arrived by Jan Kusters, on Flickr 'Hay ho, we're no supplies!' 'We are well stocked on hard tack and salted beef boys, it's soldiers we need! Welcome to your new posting...' Ah well. Luckily the soldier rowing the boat was not send off all on his own. The Briney Brick 78 (b); A supply ship has arrived by Jan Kusters, on Flickr 'But Sir!' 'No buts soldier, this private is going home with you, and that's it! Yes, he is dead. No, we don't have space here for a decent grave. And no, he won't stay in his chest for the journey. How would you feel, all cooped up in a chest for days at sea! Give the poor man a break, he has served the Empire till the end. Sadly we had another dead person for burial, but that one escaped...' 'Escaped sir?!?' 'Yes, well, never mind that soldier. Now I am sure your superiors at the fort will give this brave man a decent burial. Off you go soldier, see you in a month!' The Briney Brick 78 (c); A supply ship has arrived (and left) by Jan Kusters, on Flickr 'NO! You don't need to pay me! Just sit down and... keep still! Who do you thing I am?!? Charon, ferryman of the dea... Oh crap, I am, am I not?' ******************* I just keep playing with the stuff on my self, setting up situations. Sometimes it takes a week or more of moving stuff around before I decide its is not really working out. And sometimes it just all drops into place.
