[AMRCA RSND] The Grand Expedition - Part I
Roadmonkeytj replied to Darnok's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Speaking from past builds generally it is as long as the quality is good and the build displays the elements described. If your building the smaller build for the water Im sure it will be allowed. But again Bregir will have to confirm -
I really like the look of the two masts. I think the original would work well if the sails were larger though! Might I recomend an overnight bath in some tea or coffee? That would give those nice new white sails a good color! I do think its instantly recognised from the original set .... It was one of my favorites!

[AMRCA RSND] The Grand Expedition - Part I
Roadmonkeytj replied to Darnok's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@Bregir can give an official answer here on the 1 large in place of a small and a medium. I know we typicaly offer smaller builds so you can focus on a good quality build rather than more studs. -
Thanks!

@Capt Wolf @Legostone @Bregir If we concluded our AMCRA last turn can we sail our ships or must we wait until the official conclusions release them? Also the Sea Rats established a settlement on isle 21 mud island (or is it not officially a location pending the previous mentioned reason?

Shipwrights Guild Hall (WIPs, feedback, and advice)
Roadmonkeytj replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
It was common practice to "paint" extra gunports so that when viewed through a spyglass it would appear as if she had more guns. Ive also heard off "dummy ports" being utilized where the outside hardware was there but the port did not open. @Wellesley Im quite fond of 1 and of 4. However 5 also could work ... If not all guns were filled. Also I read somewhere that some smaller ships would not carry enough guns for both sides. So that could be an option as well -
[Stud.io MOC] Great Southern Rail Carriages
Roadmonkeytj replied to BrickWild's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I really like the design but can only echo the wheel friction concern. Does the prototype run small wheels or were you more looking for a way to keep the carriage low? Would you be able to tuck some larger wheels in it -
Another member on here used some nice decals on the square windows and got a nice effect

You might search for some of Sebeus's ships most of his had a definate "style". I peticurlarly like this one by him. I might have to start working on a ship mounted "wind cannon" to go up against your ironsides lol -
No worries! Thank you for testing and replying! I have been holding off buying the cylinders just in case lol. Im glad to see it was easy enough to reproduce! Alas I have questions though lol! Just to clarify ... The Drive Axle are you refering to the 11L or the two sides? If the 11L do you think extending the plate to a longer one and support with bricks either side would help? Also if the track were connected to a baseplate do you belive it would force the track/supports from it? The reason im trying to keep the 4 plate thickness is if the switching puzzle works as I intend then the plan is to ballast the track. Would you recommend a shorter or longer throw based on what you saw?

Very nice indeed. I like how you work a rat into your builds ... I do the same ... There is a rat somewhere in all my builds lol. Johnny may be "just a head figure" but he has quite a story

Power Functions and Santa Fe: stating the obvious
Roadmonkeytj replied to wtorbeyns's topic in LEGO Train Tech
If you use the axels that come with the PU motor they are 6W and will rub without modification -
Power Functions and Santa Fe: stating the obvious
Roadmonkeytj replied to wtorbeyns's topic in LEGO Train Tech
5 w works just fine. Personally I shave the axle with a dremel but I generally dont dismantle trains so they stay with that train. The skirting may still rub the wheel if it has the spot inside the skirt. The 5W axle will not rub but your wheels will only be on the axle about 2/3rds of the way. -

@CSW652 Im searching the pictures and im not finding a close up but itis in the background ... You'll notice the one side skirt is off... This is how we learned of the rub issue. It ran but ate battery life and only pulled 2 cars until we fixed the rub. Again sorry for not having any close ups The original ran on 9v (we installed a dummy truck) the new he built was PU. You will either need shave your axles down or cut notches for them to run the old grey skirting on the pf or pu motors. -
This is great! And to a great cause!

Im on the fence on the subject. As the doors they have are out of scale for cab doors. Honestly i would love a 3w or 2w door with a window in it. However saying that I use the current train doors on other projects lol.
