Lego City 2021 Rumours, information and discussion
Maple replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Ummm.... I was picking out sets that had the same price points. That's not cherry picking, that comparing same price points and what you get. Throughout the 80s and 90s LEGO 'forced' you to build buildings on baseplates. That's what made Town town. City is now doing the same thing and people are having fits. -

Oh I think baseplates are being phased out, but there is some hope that they won't be. -

That doesn't mean they are getting rid of them. They might just change the set number or maybe do them as single plates. -

That's such a silly argument I keep hearing. The people at Brickset want road baseplates and think that would be somehow cheaper. It wouldn't. The 2021 sets are better priced with the road plates than say, oh the last City set of 2020, the Main Square. $200, even worst buildings, no road plates. 2020 Police Station, 750 pieces, no roads, $100. Towne Centre $100 for a few more pieces AND has roads. Service station 350, $50, no road plates. Bank / Monster Truck set $60 for 360 pieces, no road plates. Yet this year for $20 more you get the Shopping Street for $80, 530 pieces (170 more pieces) including road plates AND more buildings. The Modern House is 388 pieces with road plates and is $10 cheaper than the bank / monster truck. We are getting more buildings in January in the City theme than I think we ever have gotten before. -

I'm really loving the road plates. I have this idea for a small beach road that I can never get going enough to do it. The baseplates might get me motivated. I think these are probably the best City sets since City became City and are almost as good as World City. -

I'm hoping for 'Beach Rescue' instead of Coast Guard. Match the little yellow set that comes out in January. Bring back the the yellow of Res-Q and the World City coastal sets. -

I actually agree with you that I think it's overpriced, but at least it's fair and overpriced for everyone. But I feel it is a better value than the 2020 sets. Feels like you get more for the $120. -

That's $119USD so you are now complaining it's cheaper than the USA price? -
Really stunning. If that were a modular I'd buy it.

I was joking, it's why it has that eye rolling angel smilie. American has a TON of slang that they don't teach. I have Germany family and dated several foreigners and always surprised by the amount of slang used in the language that they don't teach in English class. -

Either the garage or the Square. But right now LEGO is still making both so don't worry about it. -
Yeah and the grey baseplates are the best bang for your buck. I got two from Walmart a couple months ago for like $16.50. But I still don't have the money for that. (Walmart only allowed one bundle). I do like how your roads look like even with the studs.

Do you not know how to use the quote button? What are LEGO bricks? Oh right they are moulded too. I'm 100% in favor of huge pieces for the heads of dragons. They look better depending on the pieces and might keep costs down depending on the design or if the eyes are prited pieces. -

I love the teal dragon from the next wave. Ninjago really has mastered making brick built dragons. -
I don't use road plates. You might as well just paint plywood as it's cheaper. However I have seen rumours of the old baseplate packs retiring. LEGO might just be redoing the set numbers.

I know I'm late to the party but I love the new road plates and the fact that City sets can connect and.... you know... make a city. I wish the buildings were better but again City sets with builds make me so happy. -

They have. The Dinner is retiring, what else do you need to know? -
I think it will be a time traveling theme. Isn't that what the LEAF theme rumors were last year? (In case people forgot, LEAF just turned out to be Mario mixed with The Monkey Kid figure leaks.

Not really. This is Eurobricks where I can say that the next modular is a hot dog stand and there will be 14 pages of replies within an hour. So pretty much if someone here says one thing I will go with the exact opposite. -

I don't believe it will be a police station, not one damn bit. The rumors that get spread around here are amazing. -

I like the new brick built roads a million times better than what we currently have. However I also feel roads in a LEGO set up are a waste of money. However you would only need to raise up the modulars one plate and everything should work right. -

The most important thing to me is the outside of a modular, that was the whole point of the theme when it started. -
Someone clicked the wrong forum. But I love how Pence has the devil's fly in his hair. haha

^I like the idea of having an empty half building you can fill yourself. But being that 60% of businesses in the USA won't be reopening after cover I doubt LEGO would do that now. It would be like releasing a $200 police station, just not going to happen in the current climate. Lego designs sets quicker now than they used to some rumors and photos don't leak that much. The lego star wars cantina designers did an interview, maybe at Brothers Bricks, I don't remember and they said the whole set only took 6 months to design to on the market. So I expect we will hear rumors of what it is probably in the next month, like we knew the winter set was elves house, and pictures right around Christmas if it is still released January 1st.
