German Toy Fair – LEGO To Increase Focus On AFOLs
Maple replied to danth's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Store sizes vary. I haven't been to a LEGOLAND but I'd guess that those would be the biggest. I don't even know where the Philly store is, but it's not downtown. Yet there are two H&M stores within half a km. However I have never heard of a BL store warehouse type thing. -
LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

I haven't ever bought a people's pack besides Space because I'd just get the torsos when they are in another set or Brick and Piece the parts I want. I figured Space figures won't be in future sets. But an air show would be a great idea, it would tie into the festival side of things too. -
German Toy Fair – LEGO To Increase Focus On AFOLs

In the USA every single LEGO Brand Store, not in a huge mega city like NYC, is outside the city itself and in an enclosed mall. Boston has 3-4 stores, every one is in a mall and none actually in Boston itself. Rochester NY has one in a mall 10 miles south of the city. NYC has them in street stores near subway stops as there aren't a ton of malls there. -
I finally got around to building the set. It's great! The set is really interesting design wise, but nice looking. The helicopter isn't anything special but the ambulance is really well done. Very nice set that will look good if I ever get the space to build my town.

And the 'supermarket' will be 15 pieces, but it will come with a helicopter, a police car, a police tank, a police something else and a red car. -
The windows are big. What I don't understand is LEGO made a new 4x6x6 window frame and window. The frame is white and the window is blue. Why not use them in this set? So far the only set with the window and frame is the lighthouse from last year.

I have a couple different fire stations dating back from like 1995. The dock side one is one of my favorites. If I could get it for cheaper I'd still pick it up.

People are losing interest because we have seen two minifigures? That's ridiculous. Let's wait a couple more weeks until we see actual sets and prices.
-
Last year's was a lot better with the actual egg piece that was painted. The fact this isn't a free gift is very weird to me. And the only way that it's worth $8 is if the set included a sheep. Good review for a 'bleh', overpriced set.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 20. Rumors and discussion
Maple replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
An unprinted torso and a retail price of $5 figure. LEGO really has lost their mind. But I jus wait a little bit and you can easily find them for $2-3 on eBay.. The second Disney series and series 19 sold for $37 and $32 the other day with shipping. -
All I'm saying is the logo made me think of BLACK FACE and I'm not the only one. Then a bunch of Europeans who don't understand that 'monkey' in the USA is sometimes used as a racial slur is continuing their ignorant non-sense. I'm over it. It's a bad logo and a stupid name for a theme.
-
I don't know what the prices are in other countries. But the Dragon boats in the USA are $50USD when the Lion Dance is $80. The Dragon Boat I think is the best $50 set LEGO has released in years.

Usually which Amazon sells Lego the cheapest on average?
Maple replied to ks6349's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Nope. I knew about it after people reported on it. And CCC didn't work with it as it sold out too quickly. -
You don't live in the USA, you don't understand the racism and just how deep it is. The racism isn't just the colors used, it's MONKEY Boy. It's the fact it's a monkey, if it was Duck Boy it wouldn't be an issue. For hundreds of years, and even to this day, black people in America are called monkeys so they can be treated as sub-human. The number 1 TV Show Roseanne got canceled two years ago because she called a black woman a monkey on Twitter. It's what black face is, it's to make dark skin humans look like monkeys so they can be treated like cattle. Anyways. I don't think this will be closely based on the book. It's going be loosely based. LEGO isn't going to make an 'action' or 'big banh', or whatever we want to call it, theme that doesn't have vehicles. LEGO will never make a theme that doesn't have minidolls that doesn't have vehicles. Vehicles sell. AFOL want locations, 6 year olds want mechs and helicopters.

I regretted buying it right when it was released as I thought it was sold out. I never did return it. Then I bought another one for $50 with two free gifts. So I got two for $100. I'm going to keep one and make a NinjaGo display and I'll sell the other one. For 600+ pieces and 15 minifigures it's one of the best priced sets in years.

It started at 3am and ended about 15 minutes later. Walmart had it for $96 I think and LEGO S@H had it for $112USD. (That's where I bought mine.) -
Slight risk? 100% chance these will be made with terrible plastic. They already brought back the Micro Machine style Star Wars ships, just slightly bigger than the old ones I had. They were a disaster,
-
I was thinking more Chima, Nexo Knights, NinjaGo as 'action'but I guess they are more 'big bang'. Hidden side is exactly how LEGO should make a theme though. But I'm thinking the theme will be a slightly more ground Chima with weird vehicles and Asian inspired. I'm guessing we will see them at the end of the month.
-
Oh thank god I thought I was going nuts. Monkey Boy is bad enough name for a LEGO theme, but then there is the monkey face which is super black and red and looks like those awful racist dolls. And the theme of course will be a NinjaGo clone, NinjaGo is the biggest action theme LEGO has ever made. We have never had an action theme that didn't include 90% vehicles. Even City is 95% vehicles as clearly cities don't have any vehicles. Those 'knock off' (Can it be a knockoff if they came out first?) are exactly what I'm picturing for the theme.

LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Maple replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Which is what? Red? Blue? 2016 set was blue top and white bottom, the 2010 one was red bottom and white top, others have been white with a red or blue strip. -
The idea of this theme if it is what we know think it is sounds fun. Not much more to say than that. HOWEVER. The theme name is the worst in the history of LEGO theme names. It's silly and every time I look at the logo I think of American black face. But that's just me being crazy. I'm worried this will be like The LEGO Movies where we get 58 of the same minifigure and that gets boring. I would have called t pretty much anything else.

Do we know what color plane the normal Airplane and Airport set is? I'm just curious. -
I really like it. The tile look of it is really nice and different. Plus I'm a huge fan of the hanging plants.

There are more castles in the USA, and more so the south, than there are subways. So let's not get too hung up on things. It's a LEGO theme with ghosts and yellow people.
