Personally, I don't think it's childish at all. It's smart. TLC doesn't want to reveal their line up to the press lest the fakers get word and copy Lego's new range.

Hmmm, this seems interesting. 1) This is my first Mafia game 2) I'm not doing anything important, so yeah, I'm available. 3) 12/12. Anything other than Phoenix Wright or Boot to the head levels of court chaos will not be tolerated. Argh, shazbat. my sign up was too late.

I have no choice but to procrastinate. At least my 20 mini antenna were delivered :D.now to wait for the motor cut out plates...I decided it's a lot more cost effective to convert a 9V motor to power functions. I had a small 9V battery box at my disposal too. So until the parts are delivered, I'm installing Stud.io.

My nickname is because I like steam trains. That's the Steam part of my name. The demon part is because if you attempt to drill a hole into the earth's core and pour water down it, you would get steam and a really annoyed demon. That eats coal for breakfast. Also, I've used it for several other sites.

All in favour of giving @eric_son_of_joseph a mention on the front page? what do you think, @JopieK?

21 SETS?! Blooming heck! Today I ordered an IR Receiver from amazon, and a conversion wire from the Lego shop. EDIT on 10/1/18: And I've ordered another conversion wire from amazon. EDIT on 11/1/18: Forgot to mention that yesterday I ordered a buffered version of the motor cut outs from Brickowl, and I made my first purchase of two deep pink skirts on Bricklink. EDIT: Ordered the PF Motor, without the 6M cross connectors. I'm using existing wheels. And very recently, I've ordered decorative sides.

TRAIN TECH Help, General Questions & Talk to the Staff
Steamdemon replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Thanks for the info, ColletArrow. I've just been experimenting, and I found a way of using that hole: Probably wouldn't work with the snowplough design.- 578 replies

TRAIN TECH Help, General Questions & Talk to the Staff
Steamdemon replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I'm wondering what the hole on the new buffer plates could be used for, since they don't have studs on the top.- 578 replies

I think a mention on the front page is in order.

Ok, just saw that it's the old magnet. But still a really cool MOC.
-
Oh my goodness, how did you incorporate the new magnet into the front of the locomotive? That is really cool! Looks a lot brighter too...

What's wrong with speculation?

Recently ordered 2 6 by 16 with motor cutout (large) plates (3058) for a tender that I plan to add power functions to. And today, just ordered 8 items. 4 2x6 technic plates with holes, and 4 4x4 plates with cutout.

[WIP] Meet Anton, the 0-6-0 Tender locomotive
Steamdemon replied to Steamdemon's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Thanks for the advice. I know the part you mean. I'll check it out. EDIT: Bought two bufferless motor cutout plates, 3058. This should be interesting as a tender base. EDIT 2: Anton's tender is nearly finished. Used an existing 9V battery box and conversion cable, but at some point, I'm going to get a rechargeable battery box and the newer IR speed controller. The wiring is insane... -
That's new. Finally, someone managed to create a clockwork locomotive! Very ingenious!

I've been quite busy with a project of mine...and she's coming along very nicely. I've named the locomotive Anton, and she's a 0-6-0 tender locomotive. She's the one between the Iron Workhorse and the Winter Holiday locomotive. I'm currently planning how to design the tender, as I want the power functions in the tender. the question is, what size tender should I attempt? Too long and it looks quite ridiculous to have a small locomotive with a large tender, and too short, and I won't be able to fit the train motor anywhere. Of course, Power functions are expensive, and that's why the tender is still in the planning stage. Apologies for the photo quality.

With electromagnets? That would require a different power system alltogether!
-
This is especially true for me...

For all we know, it could be a shed!

I have several thick base bricks that I designate as my 0-4-4-0ST locomotive display. I prefer the thick baseplates for shelf/bookshelf display. For displaying anywhere else, provided it's stable, I use the thin baseplates.

Part 24246 1/2 circle in Transparent red and regular transparent. Would give car builders and train builders some more options regarding headlight styles!
-
I've built a basic 0-8-0 chasis, yet, I'm not going to complete it until I have enough in my account to build a power function tender. Plus, I've been meaning to get 11 more buffer type 1/2.
