That!/'a good point about Dareth's outfit. I suddenly don't mind it so much, when you out it that way . . and now I kind of want to see if I can retroactively track down one of those white gis (which I never got) so that Dareth can have a second student. Wait, you can make out the character names? The version I saw was too blurry . . can you give us a list?

No, I'm pretty sure that 'Mistaké' is the mistake. Mystake sounds more . . mystical, I guess.

Yeah, I'll admit that bothers me. Maybe I can Bricklink a Dareth from previous years? . . . But I think that the Docks is getting a bit too much flak here. Lego is trying to correct the one mistake they made with Ninjago City; its ridiculous height. The fact is, these two City sets are just that; things that the Lego designers know people will want to out in their cities. But Ninjago City was so ridiculously tall (and so expensive) that it just looks horribly out of place and completely dominates the skyline in almost all cases. Plus, the 'upper platform' section is disjointed, to say the least. The Docks is their effort to rectify the mistakes that they made there. It's flatter, so it fits alongside the regular Modulars in a way that Ninjago City just won't, but it also, if you get both, provides a gradient that makes it easier to integrate the original City into a city. Not to mention the staircase that connects to the otherwise disjointed upper platform of Ninjago City. Which is why, even if I never got the original City, I have every intention of getting the Docks. It's going to be much easier to put into my village, and has a lot more practical function too - as well as both Dareth's Dojo and Mystake's tea shop, there's a grocery store and living quarters. (Which are things I much prefer to have in my village than a comic store and costume shop.) Plus we haven't even seen the functionality of some of the spaces in those buildings. I think that Ninjago City Docks is an improvement over the City in almost every way. The City only really worked as a standalone display piece. But the Docks can be part of a full city. (The minifigures are a little disappointing, though.)

I'm pretty sure the animals are still alive. If only because, last time they created frozen creatures and gave them printing and decorations to make them look 'dead', with exposed bones and gore, it killed the China franchise. I'm guessing they're making the animals still alive and healthy if only so as to not give the kids nightmares. Land as for the fantasy elements being out of place in City? They're obviously running out of ideas. Makes me wonder what we'll see next year. XD

Huh. So the pictures are pretty bad, but it's clear enough that there is indeed a major height disparity between the City and the Docks. Which makes me very happy, because it proves that the Docks are designed to better fit in with other Modulars in a way that Ninjago City wasn't. I really hope I'll be able to scrounge up the cash to afford this thing. It looks so cool. I hope the Wing can be dismantled and used to augment the Bounty too. It's pretty clear that the show version of the Bounty has significant differences to the movie version (extra booster jets both on the front-end sides, for one thing). While I doubt the parts from the Wing will be sufficient to give it the sail/wing folding capability, I hope it at least has plenty of rockets. I'd suggest making the other sets your priority, then see if you have enough cash and display room left for the Dieselnaut. It's how I judge my purchases.

Oh, I see it now. Yes! That frozen mosquito fossil is going to be so incredibly useful!

You think? How can you tell? That part could have great applications for Jurassic World!

Uh . . I meant to write 'pain in the A-S-S', so I dunno how that happened . . but I like that. Pain in the megablocks. It's catchy. XD Hold on, I want to test this. megablocks megablocks megablocks Why does it correct 'megablocks'?

I thought that at first too, but I'm not too certain, honestly. It looks to me like the Docks might be built on a 32x48 footprint, like Assembly Square was. Or maybe even a 48x48, which would be even worse. In that case, it wouldn't make any sense for Ninjago City to attach to the side of it. It would look really awkward and be an absolute pain in the megablocks to integrate into a city.

What do you mean 'very poor'? We finally have an official minifigure of Mystake! Not to mention Dareth, and the real clincher; . . Ninjago City citizens with expressions suited to going about their daily lives! These guys can actually do something other than run, screaming, away from things. There's even one that looks a hell of a lot like Brad from Darkley's (to me, anyway). Sure, yet another Green Ninja and Movie Garmadon is disappointing, but overall it's excellent. Or are you just salty about the fact that they're apparently never going to make a Narwhal-themed Shark Army thug? Also, everyone? Don't give up hope on ever getting the Fuchsia ninja. You've all seen how characters from ages ago can pop up in minifigure packs years after they were first introduced. And, notice how, so far, we haven't heard anything about a 2018 Ninjago figure pack? If we're lucky, we just might be getting the Fuchsia Ninja sooner than we expect . .

Hey, that new portal looks much nicer than the previous ones. And the Elvenstar Tree is so brilliant. Can't wait!

Hey, you're right. They did give Garmadon a new print sans purple resurrection ooze. Which means that literally the only thing about that set that is exclusive is a version of Garmadon with a "slightly" different torso that is identical except without all the purple. Yeeeeeeah . . . forgive me if that doesn't make me change my mind about how horrible that set is. As far as I'm concerned, my collection exists in an alternate universe where Garmadon used his Master of Destruction True Potential whatever to create the Garmadon Mecha Man like was in the movie, rather than . . that thing. Seriously. At least the mechanical shark with legs seated two. And I desperately hope that "give Garmadon a retail exclusive giant set in the summer wave" is a trend that ends here.

Unikitty! 2018 - Rumors and Discussion
Fenghuang0296 replied to TheBrickPal's topic in LEGO Licensed
So, five sets plus a CMF that consists entirely of Unikitty and Puppycorn variants. Not half bad, if you ask me. I'm not very familiar with the show (I'm mostly only paying attention because The Lego Movie happened while I was in a Dark Age so I never actually got a Unikitty outside of Dimensions) but it looks to me like all of the major characters can be obtained in the second- and third- most expensive sets. (Plus alternate expressions for Unikitty and Puppycorn.) I'm particularly excited by the new part used for Puppycorn's ears, and I have no doubt that that will find its way into MOCs very quickly. Yeah, nope, it's a brand new mold. But Doctor Fox is rather plain, more's the pity . . -
Considering the characters involved and the background, I would say that the 'Oni Titan' is that massive stone warrior we saw in the S.O.G. finale. Y'now, it's kind of ironic. I was wishing that they'd made a set for that massive warrior after seeing it. But now that they have? . . I kind of wish they didn't. Very boring design (except that tree on its shoulder. That's pretty cool.), and nothing special about the minifigures except Lloyd's mask. Definitely skipping on that one.

Can anyone tell what the footprint of the docks is? Because, looking at that, it looks like it'll take after Assembly Square and be 32x48 . . . that'll be . . inconvenient. Man, it looks cool, and certainly easier to out into a city than its predecessor, but that might make things awkward . .

Jurassic World 2018 - Rumors and Discussion
Fenghuang0296 replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
Besides, after the Jurassic Park set, Lego has proven that there is scope for sets based on the original trilogy. They know that everyone wants Ian Malcolm (this thread is proof enough of that) and that everyone would be willing to buy a set with him in it. So it makes no sense, both from a customer-relations standpoint, and from a business standpoint, not to make a set with Ian Malcolm. That said, Dennis Nedry and John Hammond might need to be MOC-ed . .- 1,290 replies

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Unfortunately, I doubt a modular train station would be very practical, considering how much space tracks take up. Unless it's elevated somehow . . ? -
Jurassic World 2018 - Rumors and Discussion
Fenghuang0296 replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
I agree. Basing it on the Lost World gives scope for the creation of minifigs for the characters who only appeared in Lost World, like Sarah, Kelly and maybe even Eddie and Nick. Here's hoping the build would be the command centre, plus an adult and baby T-Rex . . then again, that would make it expensive . .- 1,290 replies

Jurassic World 2018 - Rumors and Discussion
Fenghuang0296 replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yeah, I like including other stuff in my layout. Features include the TARDIS, a partitioned-off section devoted to Elvendale, a MOC K.N.D. treehouse, and as soon as I can scrounge up the cash, Lockwood Estate.- 1,290 replies

Jurassic World 2018 - Rumors and Discussion
Fenghuang0296 replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
Why is everyone hating on the T-Rex Transport? Personally, I like it. I have no idea where in Australia to get it, but if I figure that out and get an opportunity, I certainly will. To be honest, the main draw of the thing is that it finally (FINALLY) gives me a reasonable way to put a massive T-Rex on display, within my city, without it being on a rampage. It's just being carried through the city, on its way to Lockwood Estate, nice and easy like, in a truck that, if not for the T-Rex in it, looks perfectly normal - more than can be said for the previous T-Rex carrying vehicles, I might add. (Bonus points that the designers kept it at only ten studs wide - the maximum for a vehicle to comfortably fit on a standard road baseplate.) And the guards for army building never hurt. Plus Zia is cool (even if her little operations booth is redundant and silly) and, as previously mentioned, baby Blue looks enough like a Compy that I could throw together a little cage and toss it into the Lockwood Estate display I'm building out of 75927, 75930 and 75932. I'm sure one of the side towers will have enough room.- 1,290 replies

Jurassic World 2018 - Rumors and Discussion
Fenghuang0296 replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
So I've been rewatching the original trilogy, and it occurred to me; if Lego moulded the 'baby dinosaur' in 'Minecraft-green' or maybe yellowish green and gave them a new print, they'd make a pretty damn good Compsognathus. Even the 'baby Blue' we already have isn't too far off the mark in that regard. Here's hoping that, if they ever do a Lost World-inspired set focused on Malcolm and his little entourage, they include three or four Compsognathuses like this. ^^- 1,290 replies

Hey, correct me if I'm wrong, but is that one of the Juniors-style ramp parts I spy on the ice build?
-
I think the saw blade vehicle looks pretty cool . . and that is a pretty nice plane. The second sabre-tooth is a bit disappointing, (as is the absence of a sloth) but hey. You know Lego would get flak if they put something rare and special like an orca into a retailer exclusive set. Heck, as someone who lives in Australia it's not uncommon for me to never even see some retail-exclusives. So I know I'd be cut up in that event.

Also, saw the official pictures of the Dieselnaut War Rig. Holy crap, that thing is so freaking cool. It's no Bounty, but I can definitely see that thing staying on my shelf for at least a couple of years.
