Why? The WTC is hunting down pirates, not honourable Sea Rats.

So the raft has just been licensed for the WTC as "WTC IRON TONY" (caps intentional).

[COR COOP] Grand Rum Factory of Port Raleigh

It was decided to build this for Port Raleigh, so the settlement will both pay the license cost as well as collect the income generated. -
A resolution to the Prio / Sea Rats conflict?
Darnok replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Feel free to send a comparable amount to the WTC. I would also not complain about donations of real money. -
Ah damn, I had hoped to transform the pirates hideout into the start for a new WTC settlement. Many thanks to @Bregir and the rest of the MRCA crew for yet another interesting turn of events, and thank you for the overall adventure! Some questions: At what harbour do the ships and troops used in this AMCRA end up? I assume Mesabi Landing, but it has not been stated. Same question, but for Tony's raft. At what point and to what account will the adventure treasury be paid out? I suggest it being paid to the WTC directly please. Does the "NPC pirate activity" include Bloody Bill? I ask because I wish to hunt him down for other reasons. At what point can either @Mesabi or myself start a new AMCRA for the WTC? Is there some kind of "conclusion build" needed? As usual: thanks in advance.

A resolution to the Prio / Sea Rats conflict?

So no war? Boo! But some silly Eslandoodlans wasted 8000DB already, which I can live with... [/IC] Interesting turn, I am looking forward to the "duel". And a neat little vignette to go with the story, well done! -
Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Darnok replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I do not see a big issue with this, the idea implemented in the rules from the very start is solid in my opinion. Bigger settlements naturally come with higher trade values overall, so to keep them from skyrocketing the additional benefits get less and less with size. The difference is not massive either: the trade value a medium property adds to a "City" is 6, for a "Large City" it is 5, for a "Grand City" it is 4 - not exactly terrible changes. Simply building more stuff raises the trade value either way. With all the things in the works already, and with other rules that might actually need a revision, this is nothing that should draw attention for now. Just my 2DB of course... -

I agree that there should be some quick and easy way to see if a ship is black flag or not. I assume this could be done via the MCRA result tables in the KPA? -
The discussion you quoted ended with "settlements can not be TC members", which makes sense.

Aye. Of course you are excempt, since the whole thing is only fully started next MCRA turn. However, if you want to, you are free to ask for an "early treatment"; I gave that offer somewhere else already, and it still stands. -

@Ayrlego The detailed IC response is appreciated, and I get the point you want to get across. If you want to, I can do the same for the following. For now, all of this is OOC. While the wording implies otherwise - this mistake is on me (and has been corrected now) - the new "harbour taxes" for Mesabi Landing are IC on top of any actual taxes ships would pay for docking. Those latter real taxes are the ones not played out in EGS terms, and paid by everybody, WTC or not, to the Crown. The ones set up now reflect events that can happen while in port, together with their monetary good or bad outcomes. They are called "taxes" because by all intents and purposes OOC they are treated that way - but they are no taxes in the meaning of "money paid to the Crown of Corrington". All of this goes to the settlement. I should have made that clearer the first time around, and will change the wording now to make it so (done). The exemption of WTC vessels was chosen so Mesabi and I do not pay money to our own settlement - or get paid by it. An exemption for other Corrington faction ships will not be granted. Please note that by sailing into the port you accept any outcome that might apply to your ship(s), positive or negative. If you wish to not pay anything, you have the choice to do so - by not sailing to Mesabi Landing. Edit: The original statements regarding this have been changed, to account for the reasoning given above. See here for the detailed version. This is no longer an IC tax, even if it is OOC handled like one. I apologise for any misunderstandings or inconveniece this might have caused. -
@Mesabi Another great choice of options, and a nice write-up. Good work, please relay my thanks to the team!

Good looking build - small enough to keep the focus on the scene, big enough for details and structure. The story around it is great! Nice to see some Oleander take the gloves off. Overall, well done!

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Darnok replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thank you! It actually started with thinking about all the "random tables" I am used to from other tabletop and roleplaying games. Excellent! I hope more people feel the same. While the table is in favour of Mesabi Landing when it comes to the bottom line, the number of positive and negative events are equal. Meaning that each visit has the same chance of "profit" or "hurt" for the settlement. Each result also gives a possible starting point for a story, something I hope people will use in the future. And there is of course the chance for some significant profits to be made... P.S.: There are currently two ships of @Bregir docked in Mesabi Landing - if Bregir wishes to do so, they can be affected by these new "taxes" this turn already. -

And now, for something completely different. The settlement of Mesabi Landing has the following announcement to make: 13th day of the 7th month, 618 Mesabi Landing Hear ya, hear ya, ye all citizens of the Brick Seas! The City Council of Mesabi Landing declares the following ruling to be in place immediately: Mesabi Landing - largest port in the Prio Seas, Crown Jewl of the Paradise Isles - is known to be a haven for adventurers, enterprising traders and misfits of all kind. Due to the bureaucracy being stretched pretty thin, any visiting ship may be detained for unpaid bets, tavern damage, misrepresented cargo, or poorly filled out tax forms. On the other hand, a visiting ship captain might find such errors or gambling winnings in his favour on a good visit to Mesabi Landing. As a result, docking in the port can yield unforeseen results - be aware of these risks when sailing to Mesabi Landing. The possible rewards are high though! Docking in the port of Mesabi Landing is potentially no longer free of charge. The exact amount each ship might have to pay - or earn due to some sort of shenanigans - is up to chance. By the authority of the Wayfarer Trading Company, Kadeus Mordo, Executive of Foreign Affairs =========================================================== For the ingame mechanics and OOC details of this: please check out the detailed post in the Mesabi Landing thread. -

Contrary to other examples in the game, this "tax" is generated randomly though, taking into account the sometimes chaotic nature of the settlement ingame. The process is handled by @Darnok, all questions should be raised via PM (to not clutter the settlement thread). For details on what to expect, check the spoiler: Note that ships of WTC players and/or those licensed by Mesabi Landing or the WTC are exempt from this procedure.- 33 replies

The WTC is on no side of this conflict... -
Aye. But two hulls make a catamaran also very stable, which is a good starting point for a gun platform. The fast sailing usually comes from the build itself (which does not have to be light though) and the sail plan (again, does not have to be efficient). Possibly.

Maybe, but what other details would you have liked to see? These are all the same design, they are not meant to look widely different. Each has an individual crew, individual cargo, and partly differ in flag/lamp/carronade placement. I lack the parts to do coloured accents fitting with the prefabs colours (dark blue to be precise - red and brown are easy).
