  1. Funny. We just went to middle school orientation for my son. They made a point to tell the parents to have the kids practice doing their locker combination before getting to school. I instantly wondered, "Can I make a LEGO lock?"
  2. I've tried printing this thing several different ways, and it's just to small. I put it on my iPad so it's easy to resize and zoom. I'll use that as my instruction manual!
  3. Where'd you get the Wolverine Chopper set for that price? I still need that and the Captain America set. I've never seen either of them on sale. :-/
  4. That first creation is simply stunning. The color combinations are perfect. Just perfect. And I love that curved wall. Very realistic model.
  5. Yes, a Cantina Band set would be awesome!
  6. "Are AFOLs and parents in EU/US displeased with Chinese made parts". This sums it up for me perfectly. Speaking for myself, I fear anything made in China, and am very displeased with it. The reason factories move to China is because of the absolute lowest price to produce in the world. It is NOT because of superior quality. How can it be so cheap? Because of worker exploitation, extremely lax safety standards, etc. None of this contributes to quality; only the bottom line. If LEGO made in China starts ending up in other markets, I will strongly consider buying old LEGO in the second hand market instead of new LEGO. LEGO can say all they want about strict quality control. I don't believe you will ever see that in China. And get ready for an absolute explosion in the bootleg market, LEGO.
  7. Ugh. I had no idea. I loved those sand red and blue colors.
  8. Just jumped back into The Twelve after finishing The Hobbit. The Twelve is an excellent twist of post apocalyptic zombie themes.
  9. Huh. Really? Hadn't heard that. Any idea why? It's funny. In my mind, he'll always be green. Not turquoise.
  10. Just ordered the Desert Skiff off Amazon for $16.65.
  11. Finally took the plunge on Jabba's Palace at 27% off. I couldn't resist any longer!
  12. I think this is a terrible move, and one that will forever harm the image and reputation LEGO has worked so hard to build.
  13. I know it's been stated before, but I would love more cantina aliens, and denizens of Jabba's Palace. So many great characters in both scenes. And PLEASE give us another Greedo!!!
  14. I picked up Jabba's Palace at Target for $87.99. I got them to price match the target.com price even though it's listed as out of stock. Can't wait to build it this weekend!
  15. This truly is an inspirational thread. All of them are! I too like the progress pics, and like the idea of building the Falcon as you are; big chunks wherever you can. Like making sub-models that will eventually snap together into a beautiful whole.
  16. Supported! #198 Good luck!
  17. While I haven't seen this in person, I would agree with your statement. When I eventually have a chance to undertake this project, I plan to use a mix of old/new gray and new/used parts. I hope it gives it a weathered look. And if a section calls for 10 widgets in dark gray, may make 1 or 2 black or another color to look as if they've been replaced on the fly.
  18. So happy I found this thread! This is awesome! I love that you basically kept the official Helm's Deep intact, but fleshed it out. It looks perfect. Is this still intact? Have you added to it at all? I'd love to see it on a landscaped base. Again, truly inspiring work. Makes me want to give it a go! What was the "crash of 2012"?
  19. Stunning models. I love the way you built your walls with the occasional brick brick and the 1x1 round plates. Everything looks very real and lifelike.
  20. These threads are always very inspiring to me! I pick up a tip or two with each one I read. Hopefully when I free up some money, I will be able to tackle this project as well. Thanks for sharing your experience!
  21. Love you color choices and your weapons platforms. Especially that belt fed acid rocket launcher.
  22. SQUEE!!!! Those are FANTASTIC ideas. I would love holographic figures. Just hope they don't end up as SDCC exclusives, though. :-/ Another fabulous idea! Could we ever have Wonder Woman's invisible jet???
  23. LOVE your Isildur. Perfect. For the Gondorian soldiers, did you try the bullet helm? I think the helmet flare is too much on those.
  24. Very nice. I like how "big" this model photographs. it seems like a MUCH larger structure than it really is.
