  1. Also interested in this topic. Can you elaborate on this?
  2. I found a lonely copy of the Black Gate at Target. Rang up as $29.98. Woo hoo!
  3. Out of curiosity, why did you make the floor so thick? Was it done to match up to some custom road plates for display? If so, I'd love to see what you're doing for streets. AWESOME model, too. This is a nearly exact replica of the Jet's by my house. The only real difference being a bench to wait on where your table and chairs are.
  4. Dude. You seriously stole my avatar? I guess I'm kind of flattered, but wow.
  5. I ended up going the hinged plate route. I used 3 4-wide sections and achieved a nice bowed shape. I think I'll carry the curve through all 3 floors.
  6. I think some of you are misinterpreting one part per mold. I believe LEGO mold make one TYPE of part per mold generally, but make multiples of that one part in a single color. For instance, I think the 2x4 brick mold makes 8 bricks at a time.
  7. Just don't drone on to people about something they don't care about. This applies to everything, not just LEGO. Most people find it fascinating that I still build with LEGO, and love to ask questions, which I love to answer. And it's worked out well for me letting my LEGO hobby be known. Just had a third LEGO collection given to me by a friend!
  8. There was nothing new nor exciting in Troy, MI. Went for a large cup of 2x2 light blue bricks for a floor for a project, but was hoping for some additional pieces.
  9. I've looked for this shirt several times, and had no luck.
  10. Interesting... I'll try playing with hinge plates, too. Thanks!
  11. Thank you. I was playing with 1x1 rounds attached to the ends of a 1x8 plate and saw that it seemed to work as you show. Because it was forced a tad in this simple model because the math isn't perfect, I was afraid this would be magnified when I built the entire door section. I'll download the palace cinema instructions too to take a look. Does it have double doors? I looked at my CC, and the single door just doesn't translate. The revolving door of the GE just doesn't fit the space I'm working with as well.
  12. Good evening, I just started building my first Modular MOC. It's a corner building, and I'd like the doors to be on a diagonal like in the Cafe Corner. I want to have double doors though, making the opening for my doors 8 studs wide. Any advice on how to build this so the doors are at a perfect 45 degree angle? I can't seem to find a solution for this. Any help would be most appreciated! Thanks!
  13. Wow. Very happy I finally stumbled across this amazing build! Fantastic work. Followed you on Flickr. Sorry about the drool on your pictures.
  14. My son just turned me on to Jangbricks. He does do some great reviews.
  15. There is a big difference between value/worth and cost. These people are paying more for the set than it costs, but not more than it's worth to them. The value, or worth, is determined by the individual. I love LEGO, but I value it as a luxury good. I don't "need" it, so I will never pay more than MSRP for LEGO. Other people are different. They value being the first person to have something. They value it because they are huge Simpsons fans and they are getting what is a novelty to them. Etc.
  16. My bad. Moving on.
  17. I picked up the LEGO Movie Rescue Reinforcements yesterday. I got it mainly because my kids are super excited to see the movie, and with the $20 off at TRU, the price was as good as it is likely to get! I have to say, I really like this set, but I do wish it was a 2-in-1. All the pieces are there to make a nice fire truck, I am sure. GREAT looking minifigs, too.
  18. No, it doesn't automatically mean jealousy, but I'm still quite sure that's the actual underlying reason for any hate directed at them. Valid reasons to hate someone or something they've done? The reasons stated are petty at best. Videos too long? Find someone else's reviews that are shorter. Obnoxious? Find someone who has a personality more to your liking. Not knowledgeable? Find someone that is. To sum it up, if you don't like their reviews, move on and find some you do enjoy.
  19. Very odd mix you git there. From Star Wars, I see a Hoth Rebel trooper, the Emporer, and an Emporer's Royal Guard. Also some Ninjago, I believe.
  20. Looked at my Walmart last week and had no luck. Will try again sometime this week.
  21. I agree with this 100%. If people have a problem with the Brick Show, it's most likely jealousy. I think they do make quite a bit of money doing what they do. They might be a bit goofy, but so what? I'd love to get the numbers they do! And where is everyone seeing the hate/dislike? I didn't even know there was an issue with them.
  22. Great. Duplo made in China. The pieces most likely to go into a child's mouth.
  23. I really should sell my Green Grocer, and do this. I could probably build three MOC modulars for what I could get for it.
  24. There is a "Chinese plastic hysteria" for a reason. And note, these complaints are coming from around the world. What is the reason the parts are being produced in China? Cost. From this list, you can have two things. The third will suffer: 1) Low cost 2) High quality 3) On schedule If cost is going down, and production is on schedule (I've not heard of any shortages), it is safe to assume quality is suffering. The old adage will always hold true. You get what you pay for.
  25. Let me preface my thoughts with these facts: 1) I have built the Cafe Corner, Grand Emporium, Fire Brigade, and Pet Shop. 2) I own, but have yet to build, the Green Grocer and the Town Hall. 3) I will eventually get the Palace Cinema and the Parisian Restaurant. When judging the modular line, I feel you must look at the whole line. These 8 buildings are very different from one to the next. As has been pointed out, some have little interior detail, and others are well fleshed out. Some feel small, and some feel huge. Look at any street in any city around the world. There can be huge variances in scale. This is part of what makes this line so brilliant and beautiful. You get a little of everything. As for the interiors, the ones that do have interior detail simply inspire me to further develop te ones that don't. This line has been an absolute homerun for me. I honestly don't know what I would suggest they do to make it better.
