Many thanks, M2m, I didn't know LDD duplicated db in user library. Everything works perfectly now. :)
-
Thanks for your answer, SylvainLS, but it's still not clear to me. I've downloaded the LDD PC version (file structure inside is the same, but just in case) and uncompressed it. This is what I see: I tried to delete my old db.lif in Bluerender folder so it asks for a new one but, selecting assets.lif (hoping it could extract db.lif automatically) makes it crash.
-
Hi guys, I'm using this great utility since when it came out. Now I've a little problem. Lego released an update to its LDD adding new pieces. I see Bluerender still uses the old DB so some new elements aren't rendered at all. I tried to overwrite the new LDD DB (it's called Assets.lif, at least on MacOS) and renamed it to db.lif but Bluerender crashes at start. Any solution for this issue? Thanks.

That's curious. :) Yes, I removed those 1x2 pieces but Chewie still bumped his head. At the end I've decided to remove seats when he's in and add them again without him. :)

Nice to see you tried the cockpit. :) Too bad, when I’ve built it, I realized Chewie si too tall and the top part of the cockpit can’t be correctly closed. I’ve experimented several modifications with no success, because making all seats lower won’t work (the rear seats bump into the back of the cockpit). I ended up removing seats and keeping them only for displaying mode (with open cockpit and minifigs or closed without Chewbacca): About the engine I had to modify it further, as it was too short and kept coming out from “holes”. I’m stil missing some piece, that’s why the strange colors but now it works:

I've just made a very quick and rough try. The most rear vents are already one plate higher, this method will be perfect. The front side ones aren't so, or you accept the compromise of having them one plate higher (maybe making the central one — or all the others, it doesn't change the Falcon look too much — higher as well) or you need to modify the top panel (it doesn't seems too hard, but of course it will require a bit of LDD time). Using four more curved tiles (the same around the black grids) around the turnable 2x2 piece you can then hide everything. Of course angles you can use to keep the grid fixed are limited, I guess 45° or so but, as you can see in the pic, it doesn't look bad at all. (unfortunately I didn't have another turnable piece around to test the other vent). Or else, if you plan to keep the MF exposed behind a glass showcase or a table, then you don't need to fix them and you can choose the rotation angle you prefer. At first I didn't think to do this change... But now I think I'll spend a bit more time about it later. After I'll finish the modify for showing the third room: :)

Using a turntable 2x2 element you can do the trick, and then block the vent on a certain angle from below, using 1x1 studs or so. maybe I’ll give it a try in the next weeks, when I’ll finish modifying the right panels (to make the hole for the new room). But I’m not sure that visually the result will be nice.

Everything depends by the balance you want to achieve. It's of course possible to totally remove the internal structure, maybe leaving the Falcon laying directly on the ground (without legs) and then build a complete set of interns. Of course you won't be able to move it around anymore, but someone decided it was better for them with the previous 2007 model. From what I'm seeing while building it (yes, I started) there's plenty of space you can personalize, without compromising the original structure. I'm adding an extra back room and will surely find a good use of the little cannon one (probably a container for the not used antenna) and I already changed lot of original parts to better fit my tastes and needs. :)

Good job! -
Nice review, also nice one ACPin! I really love this set, will get one together with Saturn V next year (this one I already reached wife limit with Millennium Falcon). :D

It’s something that bothered me too when I saw the first images but, since like you I’ll start building my Falcon after Xmas, it’s something I still have to check. Maybe some mods can be done but I guess it will require at least one more “layer” of plates and one turntable one. And then they’ll be free to rotate so I’m not sure if it would be worth the effort. After all it’s Lego, so some compromise should be accepted. :)

Interesting mods. I've made something similar: Just moved (and mirrored) half of the original room on the other side, because on the real Falcon bedroom room is supposed to be there. I also added a small bathroom (removed the walls from the image to show it better). WC cover also lifts. :D Chewie fits inside the beds too. Still not 100% complete but it gives you an idea. :) Project: https://www.dropbox.com/s/te559dlqd0y9j6l/Rooms.lxf?dl=0

Finally, to answer your question about 87552 (this one is the best option, as there are more quantities on Bricklink) I don't think it could be a viable solution: It seems really too tall. Also you'll have problems about where to connect the hinge plates. But, as I already said, I haven't the chance to test it, yet. :)

Hi Angeloonie and sorry for the delay, I've seen your post just now. In the last days I've modified my engines a bit (and already placed my order on Bricklink): It's basically very similar to my previous post but I've optimized the structure and made new, easier connections. The pinky item in the lower part of the image is the previous connection, I've kept it to use in case the new one won't fit perfectly (it has one more trans-blue studs column so I've no idea if it's too long or not), the pink pieces are not in the below list, in case I'll re-use the new central connection ones. Right engine back details (left one is mirrored): Here's my Bricklink list: The few pieces on the sides are to be placed instead of the original ones to keep the long grids (as I decided not to leave them). If you're not interested please remove from the above list. And, finally, the project file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/r5ybxqzklmlxsjc/75192 - New Engine.lxf?dl=0 I hope this will answer all your questions. If not, well I'm here. :) P.S. Also, important, keep in mind I still didn't assembled my 75192 (it's a Christmas present so I'll open it on 25th), so I only tested the new engine on an LDD version of the Falcon. I (still) can't guarantee it will perfectly fit, until I'll try it for real! :)

Ok, today my focus was on the cockpit. No need to say I didn't like at all the default one, let alone the fact the minifig behind Chewie couldn't sit. :) I wanted correct colors and nice seats because, when you've to calculate a light speed route, you won't do it sitting on the ground! I took a lot of inspiration from the pic you posted in this thread and this is my experiment: To be honest I'm not sure it will work. According to @YavinBase the lenght can be extended by one stud and I did it, to allow cloches (joystick or whatever is the correct english word). :) But, since the new cockpit is not in LDD I can't verify if the new piece fits correctly in. My doubt is the below part, it could be too thick (I had to reinforce the structure a bit, after removing 32059 piece, or seats didn't connect). According to LDD the wookie pillow has to be removed but it's a sub-millimeter thing, maybe in real life it still fits. As usual here's the project file (with some variants): https://www.dropbox.com/s/npwh8kv6qsseb1m/75192 - cockpit.lxf?dl=0

I hope I'm not flooding the thread with useless posts (as long as I still didn't start to physically apply the mods) but I tried to reproduce BricksMarlin's between mandibles piece. I hope it's correct enough. :) Here's the LDD project (feel free to improve it): https://www.dropbox.com/s/0swliddi2o9iduw/75192 - between mandibles.lxf?dl=0

Today the official Space Slug arrived and already had a good flirt with my big mouth one. Many thanks Jim. :)

Moving the room to the right...
-
Ok, time for another (virtual mod): the kiss room. Looking at official MF maps it's quite evident that the kiss (aka Rey, Finn and BB8 lighter one) room is placed in the wrong place (there should have been the beds) so here's my idea: I'll build that room "specular" compared to original one and place it on the right part of the ship instead or left. And then, later, I'll make a new one with beds. I also modified the hidden compartment and added a new one. Here are some photos: Double compartment space! Extra, bigger, hidden compartment. My mod on the left, original one on the right. If you want to read a bit more about that (along with other mods I'm going to add) you can follow this "english google translated" link: http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?depth=1&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=auto&sp=nmt4&tl=en&u=http://www.lemonskin.net/io/10890&usg=ALkJrhg1rhnBrVXi9g-VcOJGeMIxfCiGfw#stanza_bacio :)

Last engine mod, I guess I'll go with this: Now everything is modular, and connected with pins. No mods are required to the main ship. Maybe the last row of flat tiles is too much, but with LDD it's not possible to manage big pieces. Very interesting mods, I like the door idea, it would be interesting to see if it can be done with only one stud, so to use 3 or 4 layers. I also like the bedroom idea, not so much the wc. :)

Since I've not the permit to open the box before Christmas (it was the deal with my wife when I got it :P) I still can't physically apply the mods, but I'm following this thread with big interest. The first mod ever I'll do is to change those horrible engines tubes with a proper one so I tried to reconstruct Will and Bricksmarlin ones with LDD. I went with 1x1 round studs because I like them but it took a bit of effort to keep all together. :) with my mod you don't need to change anything in the original structure, just remove tubes, grids (I'm still thinking about them but I guess I won't attach them; too ugly) and the little piece in the center. It could be left but I prefer a full row of engines, without interruptions. Then connect the new engines with pins on sides and the new little block in the center. No idea if it's stable enough to keep it up, maybe i needs some pieces below to touch the bottom plate. Ok, here are images: This is the full new engine. As you see it connects to the main ships with the tubes pins (just need to change 43093 with 2780 (and use two instead of three) Here's the piece sort-of-connected (imagine it in one piece, I didn't want to get crazy with LDD stupid alignment). ;) This is the original central connection to be removed (or just leave it if you like engine in two pieces and mod a bit the two arcs. A detail of main ship connections. Still no idea about how to keep the engine tight, so the round pieces are just an idea. If anyone wants to give it a try without waiting for 12/25 I'm attaching the LXF file below. :) Update: Gave it a try with 2x2. Not sure if the structure is solid enough but whatever:

Well, another reason while they're still young is thanks to Einstein's second relativity theory. ;) I love classic space (hint hint: my avatar). Time to find your submission to Lego Ideas and you'll get another vote.
