I've got the same warning from Gmail when I've received the file from Vouatch. Maybe Stud.io saves projects as a zip file with a different extension. Anyway you can ignore it; there's nothing to extract, just open it in Stud.io. No idea why you ended up with a .zip extension. Maybe your Mail program was fooled by the archive and added thet extension. :) It may be a stupid reply, but remember to order 2x. :P

Hi guys, @Vouatch just sent me the docking ring file. :) --------------------------------- VOUATCH - DOCKING RING --------------------------------- DOWNLOAD IT HERE ---------------------------------

Ahah, I see you have brilliantly solved the problem. :) It's always a problem to share files online. If you haven't a dropbox account, you can send me the file (raccspam@gmail.com, it's the spam email, eh eh) and I'll share a link for everyone from my blog files directory.

Maybe I’ll give it a try in the next days (if LDD still starts on my old Mac). :)

It’s nice to see that, after more than three years, this post is still alive and kicking. Great job guys! :) Personally I’m ok with the stock dock rings, but I’ve seen some worthy tries in this thread. I can’t help you because there are so many pages and I’m writing with an (old) iPhone with a tiny screen; but, if you start from the beginning (with a lot of patience), you should find some useful hints.

Cool. :)

Nice. :)

Yes, every millimeter does count. I think I went through several tries before finding a solution I was satisfied about. ? Post some pics when you have the chance. :) It’s really beautiful, congratulations! :) Did you consider the idea to close the four sides with glass too? I know it’s expensive (I’ve drawn a pair of similar coffee tables when I was looking for a display solution for my MF) but on the long distance it may pay a lot: dust on Lego is one of the worst disgraces that may happen to our beloved sets. :)

Hmmm, interesting question... I think I’ve just removed some pieces inside here and there, as they didn’t compromise the integrity of the structure. You’ve to remove a small piece of the top, but it’s not complicated at all (but it’s always good to keep the manual close). :) Anyway it’s just a “fake” corridor, just a pair of bricks in deep, so it’s just for the look. :) There aren’t instructions, sorry. Too complicated and time consuming to create them. But you can open the project files in stud.io and observe how all pieces are combined together. It’s not difficult when you get used to the application. :) Thank you for the instructions about how to use my website. :)

It’s a long time I finished modifying my MF, but all the last changes were added to my blog’s page (http://www.lemonskin.net/io/11310/). Anyway, if you need any help, feel free to ask here. :)
-
Some of us changed that part, as it’s not very sexy. You can find some pics in the previous pages. About spare pieces... well, MF is a piece of junk so, if you’ve missed something, it won’t be a big problem, :)
-
@LEGODrongo01 The back part seems ok, but the spare parts are way too many. Usually Lego doesn’t provide copies of big bricks like plates or bigger-than-1x1 elements.

@Neophyte_brickie Great job, I like it a lot! :)
-
It can be easily done. I remember I watched a 5 people build on YouTube when it came out. :)

Thanks Trekrider, I just downloaded it via Dropbox (yes, I received the other email). :) I think gmail has issues managing .zip files as they're often associated with malware, virus, etc. (I think it's stupid, but that's the way it works). Many thanks. :)
-
You know what? It never arrived.
-
Very kind of you, thanks. :)
-
Could you please send it to my “battle-mail”? :) thanks.
-
Wow, it’s beautiful. Could you please share the LDD file? :)
-
I think it's a problem that afflicted seriously the previous model (the 2007 one). I've put some transparent 2x2 round bricks just in case. Sorry for the bad pic quality, dinner is ready and I've taken it in a hurry. :)
-
What @Trekrider said. It’s so easy to mess up things in later steps if you change something earlier. Better to understand how everything works before starting mods (unless you planned everything on LDD or Stud.io, but mistakes are always around the corner). :)
-
It's very deserved, you came out with hands down the best implementation of the MF engine. And I love the center hole for the LED strip (even if lights aren't in my mind for now). :)
-
Small update to my MF article: http://www.lemonskin.net/io/11310 I've switched to ClassicLook engine (you can download the LDD file from there, as the one on Bricklink is marked as "display only"). I've left the link in the file and a mention to the creator. :) I've also changed the ramp colors and its mechanism and refined Lando's "porthole". And, yes, Lando himself arrived. :) As a quick fix for the loose part below the engine, I've removed some pieces (but I think I've done some time ago, as I've no documents about that) and used a crappy but effective connection to "keep it up":
-
That’s crazy. :( If it can help, I’ll soon (next weeks/months, very busy at the moment) implement your engine on my Falcon. So I’ll let the LDD file be downloadable from my website as well.

I don’t think but, if you go to the groups tab, I always separate the URL from other elements (and, often, some parts from others). There you have full control on everything.
