Very nice. This is one of the best war MOCs that I've seen. Reminds me of Raiders of the Lost Arc.

Which company makes better pirate-themed sets?
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Pirates
With the exception of Bionicle. I don't care what the package says, I don't think Bionicle is Lego. -
The Crew of the Alcatani
WesternOutlaw replied to Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn's topic in Pirate MOCs
As I look at these once more, they look like they're ready to mutiny. I think they need a ship soon. -
OK, here's another:

Most people vote Fort Legoredo but I think I like Gold City Junction the best, perhaps followed by the Gold Mine (Bandit's Secret Hideout). I love the WW sets because they were a small theme and very unique to the Lego collection. I'm surprised that you liked one of the Indian Village sets. It wasn't a popular sub-theme at all - I must admit that I wasn't a big fan (although I have them). But I do love the figs. I think they were some of Lego's best detailed figs. In regard to the explosion, I can't believe someone would break their pieces. Much too valuable for me.

Do you have a favorite set?

Very nice. This is definately the most detailed minifig-scale forklift that I've seen. Great job.

Wow. I'm really surprised to see another Hogwarts Castle. I'm going to guess that this 3rd one will be the best.

PICTORIAL REVIEW: 6274 Caribbean Clipper
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Pirates
Awesome imagery Phes. Nice work. I love the reflection. The ship looks like it's actually in water. -
Absolutely outstanding! I love it. Thanks for sharing IS. The sound/music is what I enjoyed the most. I loved the opening scene - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Some other scenes I enjoyed: - When the trap cannon came rolling at the outlaws. I thought the pirate hat was humorous before the trap was activated. - The mayor spinning his chair and how his hair popped out of the hat when he went to hang it. - The Gold Mine at night looked neat - very mysterious. - I loved the prospector. Good voice and fig. - I liked the Indian Chief and his smoking of the peace pipe. - The exploding fort wall when the shot hit the dynamite - also the exploding General Store scene. This is definately the longest Lego film I've seen. It doesn't have a visual/graphic quality as good as the Pirate film (I forgot the name), but the music, sound, and story made the film very enjoyable.

This is the best collection/theme for 2007 yet. I like and plan on buying.

Three thoughts: 1) I thought the last collection of Mars Mission sets (if that is the name) was a bomb. Why on Mars, would they try it again? 2) One would think that Lego space fans would want classic space. I agree with Johnsocal 100%. AFOL theme all the way! 3) I suppose that after seeing the 2007 themes, there has to be one that's bad. It's definately Mars Mission.

Still waiting for the "flagship" of the collection, the Hoth Base.

Good idea for a theme DtP. You could always add Adventurers to it like Lost World or the old Dino Island Theme. I also think that any hunting/trapping scene (Cavemen or Adventurers) would work well with various dinos and/or prehistoric mammals. Perhaps a wooly mammoth in a tar pit. A dino egg hatching scene. - invention of the wheel.

Collectobil is a great source for Playmobil images. And thank you EW. Appreciate you taking the time to read and comment on this thread.

I love Lego, but 4+ just doesn't cut it for me. -
The helicopter looks excellent. Strange choice of vehicles for Scarecrow though - an adventure plane? Just seems out of place. I'll have to do some Scarecrow research.

REVIEW: 6672 Safari Off-Road Vehicle
WesternOutlaw replied to Aredhel's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
My apologies Aredhel. I didn't realize this was your gallery or intended for an image review. I stumbled upon it looking for Adventure jeeps because I was planning on making one and wanted to see what was out there. Entschuldigen Sie bitte ;-) . Nice review in any case. Your images are very high quality adding to an excellent little set. -
Berry: unrelated to this thread and my apologies to Sir Dillon and those reading this thread; I always notice your avatar and find it very unique that it isn't Lego or Lego-related. Being somewhat of a Spaghetti Western fan myself, I'd like to ask you a question that only a true WW/Clint Eastwood fan would know: In the movie, the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, a dying Bill Carson tells Clint the name of the grave where the gold is burried. Tuco/Eli Wallach does not know the name. Whose name is on the grave (where the gold is actually burried)? If you know this without hunting down the answer, you deserve your avatar.

Thanks. I appreciate your input. There's something that I've always like about Playmobil in terms of the visual for me. Maybe the word is "charming". Not sure, but just looking at the magazine images above makes me want to go out and look for retired Playmobil pirate sets.

Hoo! Hoo! Along a desolate fog covered cobblestone road rests a sleepy little destination for weary travelers know as the Black Owl Tavern. Stangers make their way inside the tavern unspecting of what secret mysteries are shrowded within. Once inside the tavern, the warmth of a large fire and the fresh aroma of ale fills the air. A jovial man known to the locals as Finghin Quinn the Minstrel plays a lute as he draws the attention of the merry drinkers at the bar. But inconspicuous to the drunken men is a strange man standing in a shadowy corner, his face covered by the hood of his tunic. What secrets does this man hide and why does he come to the tavern? The sounds of an owl can be heard in the distance... hoo...hoo... Sir Dillon: This MOC is absolutely outstanding. Aside from the exterior which is superb, I love the interior and the fun and excitement that you captured with your details. They made me want to add some sort of story to the MOC which probably doen't do it justice. What I like about the exterior: The irregulat shape works very well. I like how you constructed the roof and the combination of various grey bricks adding to the stone/brick-like look. The details like the well and the fence are very well done. I like how you used the round 2x2s for the well to give the foundation a stone look. And lastly, the owl above the door, the inspiration for a most-excellent Medieval tavern name. And for the interior: I love the beer/wine kegs against the wall and the figs that you selected to populate the tavern. Very nice and as I said above, you really capture the mood of the place with the singing bard and the man tipping his cup. Just excellent. I'm very impressed and with the combination of an excellent exterior and interior, this MOC is very nice. Excellent work *y* .

ccc4 Find: Small Forest Sceneries by Lamanda2
WesternOutlaw replied to Asuka's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Nice. I wish I had a few forestmen. I really missed out on these sets. I could be making MOCs like these. -
Safari would make a nice theme. We could have vehicles, animals, a hut, etc. Would make for a good 5-6 set theme.

My opinion exactly. I want some building scenes. If Lego is going to pursue vehicles, they should at least make some for the villains too.
