  1. Seriously?
  2. I really like this set (I'm sure that comes as no surprise). I love the skeleton ship. The castle wall isn't too bad either. This new Castle theme is definately much better than KK. An army of undead... What more can one ask for. *skull* PS. Great place to hide the treasure - kinda silly, isn't it?
  3. Thanks for the feedback. let me provide some explanations: I really wanted to keep the symmetry of the columns, and origianlly had a column in the place you mention. The issue was the fence pieces that I only have two of (in the orange brown) and two of the rounded fences (from the Scorpion Palace). With that said, I had to remove the column to keep them together. I may re-do and work on this as I was not real pleased with the final design here. I would have to change the color of the fencing though and I really liked the orange-brown pieces. This was intentional (not due to a shortage of fencing). I wanted to keep this area open to see the large windows on the 2nd floor. I was wondering about this too. I may have to redo and could possibly use shorter fencing in this area. Just something to add some design to the roof.
  4. Have you heard of skeletons in your attic? There may be skeletons in your bed in the Shady Inn Hotel. Within the desolate town of Grave Stone stands the Shady Inn. It's a horrifying place with boarded windows, creeking floors, and terrifying spooks that haunt the dark rooms within. Legends say that the Inn was built on a graveyard, while others believe that the land beneath was the ancient burrial ground of American Indians. The shadows play tricks on ones sanity within this horrific hotel for those who have dared spent the night have seen those terryfing visions of apparitions and the undead, calling for someone to join them in their shallow graves. If you are unfortunate to have stumbled upon the ghostly town of Grave Stone, you may want to think twice about spending the night in the Shady Inn. The Shady Inn is my first MOC of Series II of the Grave Stone collection. About two years ago, when I originally thought of the Ghost Town sub-theme, I had built a rather large hotel that had rooms and a bar within. I had planned to use the building to host one of my murder mysteries. It was not so good (in my opinion). This second attempt (I think) is a much better MOC than the original and has inspired me to start Series II of the Grave Stone collection. Please share your thoughts and/or critisism.
  5. Aside from the awesome mountain/cliff, I really like the building technique used for the castle walls. It gives the castle a completely different (and more realistic) look. This is very impressive and must have taken weeks/months to construct.
  6. Good job! I love the Lego shirts.
  7. Excellent SD. You know I love the ForestMen. As always, you've created a nice MOC here.
  8. Nice. I really like how you made the traffic light.
  9. My 2006 Halloween entry: And some Civil War confederate soldiers:
  10. Yes, I really like the use of the black and yellow colors. Wasn't there an airline exclusive similar? Perhaps that was brown and yellow if I remember correctly. Not sure what you mean?
  11. Excellent review Hobbes. I love this old shunter engine. What a great little set and it sounds like you really snagged a good one off of Ebay. I shared the following image a while ago, but here's a shot of a diesel engine that's part of the Nevada Southern Railway. Someone (perhaps you) mentioned that it looks like 7760. Lego should bring back some of these as Train Legends.
  12. Excellent airplane 007. I really like the color scheme. Nice use of the emblem pieces and the overall design.
  13. Sort of reminds me of a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang of the Adventurers Theme. Neat.
  14. Prediction: I may be wrong, but I can see a gold C-3PO in a SW magnet set coming to a store near you.
  15. Some of you take this collecting thing way too seriously. You're becoming like "Trekies" with Lego SW. It's just a single figure. I'm in the US, but I couldn't care less if Europe or any other continent or country was the only market to get it. Words of Wisdom: I was a big SW collector years ago. I raced out at all hours of the day/night to be the first to stores so that I might be able to get my hands on exclusive/limited pieces. Guess where all of this is now? It sits on shelves or in boxes in the garage collecting dust. What's worse is to see grown adults racing out to take these items out of the hands of kids so that they might add it to their collection. I still have a few friends that do this. Open it, play with it, and have fun with it - and don't worry about it if you can't buy one. There's an indefinate supply of all sorts of things to collect, and there will always be much more. One of the many reasons I always liked Lego, is that I didn't need to race out and buy that particular set. Lego made enough for anyone that wanted it, and it wasn't priceless like other collectibles. Keep it fun, and don't place too much emphasis on any single fig/set.
  16. Very nice T
  17. Excellent! I love it. Great colors (just like John Deer). I esp. like the image of the ranch hand fixing the motor. Very nice. Now I want an Advent Calendar with a farm theme. This would make a great addition.
  18. Hi Norro. I'm not a big fan of stickers. I've seen this Roseart puzzle before. There's also a WW map/diarama that's a rather neat puzzle. It make a flat display for the WW sets. I don't think it includes any stickers, but I think it's better and has more uses than this one.
  19. Excellent. I love the use of the seats. They make great shingles. The whole MOC is nicely done as well.
  20. I'd have to disagree with this comment. Both are toys with adults that collect. Check out Playmobil on Ebay sometimes and you may be surprised at how much some of the sets go for (including the old Victorian Doll House that replaced the yellow one that you pictured You make some interesting points Dark Brick, but as one who buys Playmobil, I think that Playmobil has a much larger set diversification than Lego. In addition, I think that they offer just as many new themes if not more than Lego at any given time (but most of what they sell is sets as opposed to Lego. When Lego starts a new theme, they seem to design about 5-6 sets. Playmobil will offer a greater number of sets, individual figs (called Specials), and Playmobil Direct will also offer accessories for themes. In addition, they seem to always offer classic themes like Pirates, Castle, and City with just different sub-themes from year-to-year. This year, Playmobil has added Romans, Forest/Leisure, Vacation, and Conquestidors and Circus (coming late this year/early next year). They probably have more, but these are the ones that I'm aware of. And what I really appreciate is how they will have a theme for a longer duration (a few years) adding new sets to the same theme. As you said, Lego will drop a complete theme to make room for something else much faster than Playmobil. There are similarities between the companies, but as one who appreciates both of them (although my Lego collection far exceeds Playmobil), I'm excited to see both companies offering great themes. It can get expensive, but i don't buy much Playmobil (mostly Western, Adventure, and a few Castle now and then). But I like the new Roman line which I wish Lego would jump on. I'm debating if I'll buy any - perhaps not, but it's fun to check out the new sets.
  21. Highandcattle: I just wanted to say thanks. I've been patiently awaiting this set to hit the US, and finally it did. Just received it a day or two ago. Here's a shot of the real thing: Thanks again for mentioning it to me.
  22. I must have missed this post, but here's a few from my collection: I've got a lot of the old classic horses but I just don't like to build them (not sure why, but this is why the knights are pictured on foot).
  23. Neat idea, but you have to think of how popular this idea would be with Lego's average market. Perhaps something like safari would be a little more popular (a few natives to go with the theme).
  24. Whether or not one buys the Cafe Corner, Classic SW, or other new set (in response to the comment regarding competing sets), Lego doesn't care. They want you to spend your money on Lego vs. other company's products. Yes, I strongly believe that a strong 2006 year for Lego is contributable to Lego going back to the basics. These classic themes are making a difference and unlike the mom of the small child who is debating whether or not to buy that $40 video game, a Megablock Pirate set, or a Lego Sponge Bob set, AFOL know exactly what they want (it's the classic sets). I don't believe that your average Lego Shop at Home customer is the small child, it's rather the AFOL that is buying these classic sets. Maybe I stand corrected, but I do believe that AFOL are the ones spending the high amounts per year on Lego. Lego has been successful due to their products. Those products (design) over the past years have been slipping. 2006 offered some great themes (new and old). They must realize that producing a good product = good sales. So far, 2007 has proven this with the theme variety and the quality of the designs. I would predict that 2007 will be an even better year for Lego.
  25. As I was reading Lego's 2/21/07 news release regarding 2006 being a very profitable year for Lego, I couldn't help to note the following which talks about why. The news release states, "The increase in revenue is evenly distributed on the Group
